We stopped here for gelato, and it was absolutely incredible. The flavors were outstanding—we tried pistachio, the peanut and caramel, and even a port-flavored one. Each had a rich, earthy depth, not overly sweet, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Even on a Saturday afternoon, there was a steady flow of both locals and tourists, which speaks to its popularity.

Google
Top favorite Gelato spot for me in Porto. Always have a variety of choices with excellent quality. Super friendly staff with a great vibe. Perfect price to quality ratio. Highly recommended

Google
Mm! So many options and I got offered a lot of samples to help me decide, which was nice :) I think port wine was such an interesting flavour, and the earl grey gelato was floral and wonderful. However, I had to go classic with a scoop of toasted pistachio in an adorable mini chocolate cone. It was so good, perfect nutty flavour, and the mini portion was sufficient for me!

Google
Got the chocolate and hazelnut with strawberry cheesecake (made with cream cheese) flavours. The taste was so nice! There's not a strong perfume, but that's not necessary. The ice cream is lovely and creamy. Classicos options include dark chocolate and toasted pistachio ice cream. Coleção options include coffee and sesame flavour. Other flavours are limited editions like the eucalyptus and honey. The price depends on what flavour(s) you choose. There was no queue when we went around 9.45pm on a Sunday evening in September. The ice cream shop is easy to locate in the city centre and the staff who served us is very welcoming, especially to tourists. Portions were massive and the ice cream itself was delicious 😋. If your going Porto this is a must ice cream place to go.

Google
On my way back to the hotel, spot a queue of people waiting outside of the store. So joined the line and waited for about 15 mins to get both pistachios and frozen yogurt/passion fruit flavours. Not very impressed and it melted faster than I can eat.

Google
Delicious ice cream. We took the option mini menu so it was ice cream with a cafe for 2.8 euro.

Google
Absolutely delicious and rich ice cream. I’ve ordered the dark chocolate gelato, and the texture is smooth while slightly stretchy. The rich chocolate flavour is astonishing. I highly recommend. There is also a great range of gelatos and sorbets to choose from. The ice cream cone is crunchy, and the potion is generous. However, the service is slightly slow, and the staff gave out a few wrong orders within my time of waiting for my gelato.

Yelp
A small creamery hidden but has some good ice cream options , I tried cheesecake , pistachio and hot chocolate. I really enjoyed the balanced flavor of the cheesecake with strawberry syrup and crumble pieces. It should be strawberry pieces not syrup... I also tried the pistachio which was great but had a sweet aftertaste , not as good as the pistachio you can get in Italy. The hot chocolate was mainly dark chocolate and it was thick with a bitter aftertaste. The ice cream is in metal tubs which h shows that it's authentic without many chemicals and additives. Services was friendly and quick . The place is small and limited tables .

Yelp
Favorite gelato in Portugal! Dark chocolate creamy and RICH! The Nata cream flavor is unique - although hard to compare it to a nata it was a nice cream flavor with a touch of vanilla and really balanced out the dark chocolate! Portions huge, staff very nice, and you get a cute little cookie on top!

Yelp
Favorite gelato in Portugal so far! I will say it has a very discreet outdoor sign so it was a little hard to find. However, once I was inside I was super satisfied with my experience! First, the staff was super friendly & let me sample a couple flavors so I could be sure on my order! I ended up choosing dark chocolate and stracciatella (2 flavors i gravitate towards often). The dark chocolate was soo rich. The stracciatella had the biggest chunks of chocolate chips I've ever had in that flavor which I throughly enjoyed! The serving was also really big and they provided a little cone chip on top which was super cute! Perfect sweet treat to end a long day in Porto

Yelp
I tried the Pistachios and Hazelnut Ice cream from Gelateria Portuense in Porto. The Pistachio flavour was one of the best I've had and the Hazelnut was really good as well. Overall, I'd give it 9.3/10

Yelp
Really yummy spot to get gelato! It was our favorite gelato spot on our trip to Porto. We went almost every night to this spot. Make sure you go early because their flavors do run out at the end of the day. The gelato is so buttery soft and you can taste how fresh it is. I also really like that the dessert is so creamy and the flavors are so natural but distinct!

Yelp
Our last night in Porto we decided to grab some gelato...according to Google we walked about 750 meters to find Gelataria Portuense...and it was worth every.single.step!! The woman greeted us nicely as we were deciding on flavors...just a word of warning, they don't have a ton here, maybe 8-10 gelato and another 6-8 sorbet. Wifey ordered a small hazelnut and pistachio and I got a small hazelnut and mango. I know what I'm about to say might be blasphemy, but the hazelnut gelato is the best I've ever had-better than we had in Rome.

Yelp
Perfect gelato. Creative choices, standard choices, cheerful and helpful staff. Cannot recommend highly enough

Yelp
The perfect dessert for after a filling dinner at Kind Kitchen nearby! I got a small cup that allowed for the choice of two flavors, so I chose Porto Tawny, a local flavor that is comprised of Porto Tawny wine and caramelized walnuts, and Cheesecake Morango, which contains cream cheese, strawberry puree, and crumbly biscuit. All in all, it was a delicious combination of flavors, which I tried to make as "Porto" as possible to make the selection more memorable.

Gabby G.

Yelp
I knew this place was good just by the texture of the gelato and because all the flavors are covered with metal caps. I got the hazelnut and pistachio which was a natural, earthy green color. You can tell they use real ingredients for these. The portions are generous! I wasn't expecting two scoops to be this much. So go for 1 scoop or the mini if you just have a small craving. All flavors you see in the online menu may not be available so double check in person. Worth walking a little further to have this if you're visiting Porto!

Yelp
This is one of the best gelato places I've ever visited, even including all the gelaterias in Italy! We stopped in for a quick snack, but were absolutely blown away by the quality of the gelato here. The texture is perfect, the flavors intense, and the sweetness very balanced. They have a small but interesting selection of flavors, including your classic Italian flavors, as well as some interesting ones that you'll be hard-pressed to find elsewhere, such as cheese and guava, alfajor, and goat cheese. They are generous with their samples, and I'm glad I sampled the goat cheese before ordering it because it was potent. It tasted more like goat cheese than goat cheese itself, and while I loved the boldness, I was in the mood for something else. The alfajor flavor was more my speed, with a deep dulce de leche flavor and crunchy cookie bits inside. Easily one of the best frozen dulce de leche flavors I've ever tried. My husband got the hazelnut, which was absolutely perfect. We also loved how generous they were with portions. Their smallest size is still almost twice as large as the gelatos we enjoyed in Italy, and it comes topped with a cute and crisp wafer, so you feel like you had the best of both worlds, cup and cone, at the same time. We were so impressed that we actually came back 5 hours later after dinner to try the pistachio, which is our benchmark flavor for gelato. It was totally on par with what you would find in an authentic Italian gelateria, but the price to portion ratio was way more reasonable. We wish we had found this place sooner into our Porto stay, as we would've become regulars!

Yelp
One of the greatest gelato places in Porto!!! All their gelato is gluten free and they also have a gluten free cone available too! This was our first gelato we got in Porto and it was a great start for the many future gelato places we discovered during our time in Portugal. Many great flavors that you'll love any flavor you decide on. One of the flavors I got was nata which is basically fresh cream was subtle in sweetness and I loved that. Definitely stop at this gelato place when walking around Porto or after dinner! It's a good place!

Sonya C.

Yelp
One of the best gelato places I've tried in Portugal. They have a large variety of flavors daily until they run out, then you're out of luck! The menu features both classic gelato flavors and some special ones as well that change daily. I had a medium cup which was around 5 euros and selected three different flavors. I was interested in experimenting so I went with two of special flavors and one classic flavor - feta cheese and caramelized figs, peanut and caramel and hazelnut (a classic always!) the portions were huge! The only downside is they don't put flavors side by side but on top of each other so you need to finish one before trying the next unless you try to scoop it up. I prefer trying all the flavors at the same time. Service is generally fast. They also give samples if you want to try before paying. Location wise - The gelato shop is really easy to miss since the sign is small but it's a pretty authentic place and I saw many locals here. It's not one of those overcrowded gelato shops with many tourists and long lines. Would highly recommend this spot for gelato and ice cream. If I'm back in Porto, I would definitely come back to try some more unique flavors!

Yelp
I have eaten ice cream all over the world. France, Spain, Italy, the United States, and this is the best ice cream I have ever had!!! Do not miss this place if you are a connoisseur of ice cream!!

Darya S.

Yelp
Best ice cream in Porto! Service is incredible, too. The lady let us try every single flavor! I went with a cup with the lemon sorbet and the toasted pistachio. It was so fresh and delicious. I'd put it in my top five ice creams of my life. My husband got the peanut butter and the dark chocolate. It was overall fantastic. You gotta go indulge yourself!

Linda W.

Yelp
Just do it-come here for the best gelato in Porto. Small place with dedication to making real gelato. Flavors from a different county each month and a standard menu too. Friendly English speaking staff! Don't miss this!!

Ashley P.

Yelp
Delicious & creamy gelato! I got caramel and the dark chocolate one but the dark chocolate with chocolate chips is my favorite. So rich and flavorful. The staff were very friendly too!

Bradley H.

Yelp
Worth the walk from wherever you are! Just a small hole in the wall that you could easily walk right past...but don't do it! Their flavors change regularly, but don't worry...just get whatever they have...it will be amazing! Every flavor of Gelato is just bursting with creamy, buttery goodness. We had a pistachio flavor, a south American coconut flavor, a peanut butter variation and one more...every flavor was our favorite as we ate it. Don't take my word for it...for a few Euros you will have the Gelato experience like none other! Happy eating!

Dani S.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE LOVE this place!! The gelato here is amazing! Bumped into this little hole in the wall while walking around the city of Porto and absolutely loved the gelato here. They have the classic flavors but also several very unique flavors, see photo menu! I went back to this place twice and got four different flavors to each time and it's mind blowing good! Compared to some of the places in Italy, this place is definitely comparable. The gelato is smooth and creamy and well crafted. Foodie's delight. Staff were very sweet and helpful. Highly recommend!

Soumendra B.

Yelp
Great espresso and gelato! Awesome late night stop (open until midnight every night!)

Alexis N.

Yelp
The best gelato in Porto! We ate at a few other shops and this one is definitely the best. Good portion sizes, great flavors, and perfect texture.

Sharon D.

Yelp
The best gelato in Porto! Creamy, and super flavorful! A side note, amazing infused black tea!

Suor K.

Yelp
Gelataria Portuense is a tiny hole-in-the-wall gelato shop that we stopped by after a long day of walking around Porto. The prices here are better than other gelato shops near touristy areas. A medium, which includes 3 flavors, only costs €3.90. Every flavor that I tasted was so good. We eventually decided to get the pistachio, hazelnut, and coffee flavors. None of the flavors tasted artificial. I highly recommend making a visit to Gelataria Portuense during your stay in Porto.

Gabby E.

Yelp
My friend is super picky about gelato and even he said the gelato was solid. I got the dark chocolate and strawberry which was an awesome combo. Dark chocolate was super creamy and light, while the strawberry was super fresh and had just the right amount of sweetness.

Rafael L.

Yelp
This is probably the best ice cream I've had in my life. It's... different. And they're not skimpy at all! Cups come full and prices are nice as well. It's simply amazing! Pistache, Chocolate Negro and Cheesecake flavors are outstanding.

Scott C.

Yelp
Great local spot. Tucked away in a small street but once you find it, the gelato is quite amazing. First, it's proper creamy gelato. Not over frozen. Second, they make their own custom flavours with local ingredients such as tawney port. Lastly, they mix in fresh nuts to extra crunch. The place is new and clean and the staff friendly.

David M.

Yelp
Very good and flavorful gelato at affordable prices! The staff was friendly and there are several gelato and sorbet flavors to choose from.

Jh W.

Yelp
Dropped by with my family on a warm summer day. 5 staff in the backroom were rather unwilling to attend to us for the first 5 minutes or so and subsequent service was somewhat reluctant and partial rude. Ice cream itself was nowhere near the spectacular experience I expected from positive reviews. All in all overrated.

CJ F.

Yelp
Easily the best gelato in Porto. Authentic and delicious, AND uses seasonal and local ingredients. It is tucked away in a charming little side street, so finding it is like accomplishing a challenging quest where your reward is being transported to another time, to a magical place where the gelato is so incredible you'll still be thinking about it days later.
