Where to Eat and Drink in Portofino, Italy

"An artisanal gelato shop known for the paciugo, a Ligurian-style ice cream sundae built on seasonal fruit, topped with gelato and whipped cream, and crowned with marinated sour cherries whose juices run down the mound—hence the name, which roughly translates to “mess.” A popular, refreshing spot to cool off." - Kristy Alpert

€8 for an ice cream is definitely overpriced. Quality is fine, but not any better than a €3 gelato in Santa Margherita. You’re really paying for the Portofino vibe and location rather than the product.

I had a tasty ice cream, expensive but I was given an excellent sized portion. It’s a boutique Gelateria (small # of selections) in a tourist town. Others are calling it a tourist trap? Well yeah, did you not know where you were visiting, very likely on a cruise (and what that says about you) for Pete’s sake? It’s ice cream and it was more than fine, if you don’t like the price then check the menu first.

Let’s not get excited. It’s good. I will let them have the title of “Best Gelato in Portofino.” But let’s slow down a little on the best in Italy talk. I will say that everyone was really nice. We had a tragic accident when a pistachio cone took a fall to the ground as hundreds of tourists looked on with horror. The ladies that were working promptly replaced our fallen hero with a fresh cone like nothing ever happened. We will remember that cone for the rest of our lives.

This gelateria is one of the best I've ever visited in Italy. The flavors are authentic and rich, the texture is perfectly creamy, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Each scoop is a delightful experience that captures the essence of Italian gelato. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an unforgettable treat!

Best affogato on my 10 day Europe trip. Three scoops of gelato, fresh and the best espresso I’ve ever had. Gosh this was so good I had two in my two hours in portofino. Their gelato brioche was also very good and they are very generous with the portions. The line is always long and it is for good reason. Absolutely love.

Ice cream was delicious! Try the chocolate sorbet. Service was lovely too, and met the handsome fella who makes the ice cream at the back of the shop!
