"Creamy gelato goodness is scooped from covered silver containers in this shop on the Piazza Passera. Scan the hand-lettered labels to see what is on offer—the kitchen behind the shop makes everything with the freshest seasonal ingredients. Try Fior di Latte alla Menta, the Italian version of mint chip ice cream, orany of the sorbets, which have a bright, pure fruit flavor. Carry your cone to a bench on the piazza and savor it as you people-watch."

Google
The best gelateria that I've tried in Italy so far. I had 1 scoop of the Strawberry and 1 scoop of the Chocolate & Cherry. The strawberry was so light and fresh, and you could tell that it was made with real strawberries because of how strong and beautiful the flavour was. The chocolate and cherry was rich, and I loved the chunks of real cherry. The line looked long when I first arrived, but it moved fairly quickly and I was served in 5-10 minutes maximum. Worth the wait!

Google
BEST GELATO I HAVE EVER HAD! Our airBnB recommended this location to us and he did not steer us wrong. We were in Florence for 2 days and went here three times… worth it! The pistachio, vanilla and strawberry ricotta were our favorites.

Christoph Kaml

Google
Ice cream is quite good and nice choices, very hygienic and clean. Service friendliness is average and asking for money ahead of ordering is a bit alienating. Was ok once, but not worth to come back.

Google
Hands down best gelato we have ever had. We ate gelato across various cities and this was by far the best. Perfect texture, interesting flavours made with fresh ingredients. Citrusy flavours were so refreshing too. Try their strawberry shake with whipped cream!!!!!! And friendly service is always a plus :)

Julian Chen

Google
I enjoyed all 3 flavours I got especially the pistachio! It’s a small shop and has that authentic feel. Definitely the best I’ve had so far and I’ve tried quite a few in this heat wave.

Yecheng Shen

Google
This gelato shop serves absolutely the best gelato I have ever tasted! The flavors are incredibly rich and authentic, and the texture is perfectly creamy. It's truly a cut above the rest. The only downside is that the wait line can be quite long, but honestly, the quality of the gelato makes every minute in line completely worth it. If you're looking for an unforgettable gelato experience, this is the place – just be prepared to wait a bit for perfection!

Google
Some of our favourite gelato in Italy! The staff here are so lovely and helpful if you are not able to order in Italian. Particularly recommend the pink grapefruit flavour but all of the flavours we tried were delicious.

Jenna Rae Vercillo

Google
The *texture* of this is absolutely divine. I’m so glad we stumbled on it. The women working were angels and so kind. We had the melon and lemon (omg the melon) in one cup and the pistachio and hazelnut in another. There are so many gelateria’s in the area, and we’re already planning on coming back.

Yelp
Best Gelato in Florence, hands down. Super friendly environment in a very cute and convenient area. The pear gelato is incredible. It brought my girlfriend to tears- and that isn't a joke. We went back for seconds every time. But one time, we walked 30 minutes to get there and it was closed despite Apple Maps saying it was open. So we booked the late train just to come back the next morning, because my girlfriend was itching for more pear gelato. We arrive at the establishment at opening after another 30 minute walk. NO PEAR GELATO Please bring back the Pear. The people need it. We may no longer be in Florence, but the next generation of pear gelato eaters is among us. They yearn for the pear. It is forever in our hearts, as is Gelateria Della Passera

Yelp
The line looks intimidating but it moves fairly quickly. Location is nice in a little square with some benches to enjoy the ice cream. We ended up getting two fruit flavors and both were super refreshing.
google avatar

Yelp
The line can get long but best gelato I've had. The grapefruit really captured the bitterness in a good way. Melon was sublime.

Yelp
We were walking around Firenze after having lunch just exploring and taking in the sights when I came to the realization I had not consumed any gelato yet that day. It just so happened that we were close to Gelateria della Passera and after a quick Yelp search I saw that this was one of the more notable gelaterias in the city. That's all you needed to say to me, and on that note I quickly went inside to check it out. Like other gelaterias I visited, the interior of della Passera isn't large - it's a simple setup with the coolers on the back wall as soon as you enter. What's noteworthy about della Passera is that the gelato is not on display, but rather in bins covered by lids. I've heard that this maintains the freshness of the gelato but I can see how opinions differ on this subject. Anyway, I usually get cups but was in the mood for a cone so I went with a small ricotta with fig. I enjoyed the gelato - it was smooth with good flavor. The ricotta gave it a fresh taste and the candied fig really elevated it. Service was good, I was taken care of promptly and could tell they take a lot pride in their shop. Overall this is a solid option for gelato in Firenze - I wouldn't be against returning here next time I'm in the city.

Yelp
Amazing flavors! Hit it 4 times in 2 days to keep trying different flavors. The pistachio was FIRE. Had a line that moved quickly, lady at counter was nice and helpful, good price. Would eat gelato there every day if I could.

Yelp
Pretty awesome gelato in Florence, decently priced too. We got the cup with two scoops - amazing at €3.50 each. Lots of flavours to choose from, friendly and prompt service, what more could you ask for! FYI there are some benches opposite the shop for you to have the gelato at.

Yelp
Stopped here many times for gelato as it was in the piazza just outside our AirBnB. Excellent quality and service. Sometimes a long line for it, but that really just speaks to the quality.
google avatar

Yelp
A short queue in the calm firenze alleys south of the Arno lead to the unique flavors of this gelateria. I tried the melon, the grapefruit, the yogurt, the dark berry, all of them were unique and the taste of the fruit shone through. It felt like they had extracted grapefruit juice in the back and churned it just a few hours ago. I had to try the dark chocolate given the success with the others, and it was just as dark, rich and chocolatey as I had hoped. The scoops were small, but also cheap, all the more reason to try multiple flavors.
google avatar

Yelp
The BEST fruit flavors we had in Italy. Came twice and prob going again. The mandarin tastes just like a clementine tangerine and so does the pink grapefruit. The peach flavor was mild but natural. Will be back to try blueberry and the other fruit flavors. The hand drawn signs are lovely.
google avatar

George K.

Yelp
The gelato here was absolutely delicious and very well priced. We tried the vanilla, lemon, strawberries & ricotta, and vanilla, lemon, strawberry, ricotta, strawberry ricotta, hazelnut, and raspberry flavors and all were delicious! The staff was so friendly, we went 3 times on our 5 night stay.

Yelp
The best gelato I've ever had. I was in Florence for 3 days and in Rome for 3 days. I had a gelato from a different place every day. Gelateria Della Passera is the best one by far. Lots of GREEN FLAGS for this store. First off, it is located in an alley - away from foot traffic and yet still manages to attract a line. Secondly, the gelato are not on display; they are under metal lids. This is a great sign because it means the gelato does not have extra preservatives and needs the lid to be temperature preserved. I know I will be thinking about this gelato for a long time and it will be at the top of my list if I'm ever back in Florence
google avatar

Radmen N.

Yelp
Was a little busy but well worth the wait. Authentic gelato in the tin cans as you know the other spots are more tourist sites with open gelato containers filled with preservatives. Here it was fresh and the chocolate and hazelnut combo was the best.
google avatar

Yelp
One word! AHMAZING!!!! Easy to miss place as it tucked away in a small space. This place is incredible. The flavors are like nothing here. I usually get chocolate flavors but this is the first time I tried other flavors. I got the lavender and mulberry. Oh my gosh! They were incredible! Also tried the melon and banana. Absolutely delicious. Wish we had found this place sooner.
google avatar

Shannen B.

Yelp
Lots of unique Italian flavors and right next to the palazzo pitti! Just a short walk away. Personally one of the best gelaterias I've ever had
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
The gelato is the best in Florence. There are a few places in Florence that truly have authentic gelato and this is my personal favorite. The tourist traps have gelato stacked high to catch your attention, however the best ones are ones like this! The apple strudel was fantastic an trastes just like apple pie. Also, the customer service is fantastic. The lady at the front (with a nose ring) was so nice and very informative! 5/5 all around!
google avatar

Judith M.

Yelp
Best (ok- one of the) Gelato in Firenze! 2 € for HUGE small\ single 3€ fort HUGEr double. Fresh Rich Delicious The coffee will blow your mind and keep you up all night so Attenzione!

J L.

Yelp
Best gelato we had on our trip. The portions on the small side but the flavors were rich and fresh (each stored container of gelato is covered). After coming back home, we still talk about this place.
google avatar

Eric H.

Yelp
Super cute shop tucked away in the corner of an alleyway. I tried many gelato places while in Florence, but this was my personal favorite.
google avatar

Sierra S.

Yelp
I love all the flavors! I came back here 4 times for gelato because it was that good. Also located in such a cute quiet courtyard that's a hidden gem in such a touristy part of town.

Janina T.

Yelp
Nice little place; pleasant, patient, and attentive server that only show they love their job. This is a good welcome to the place, arriving just few hours ago. You turned our worst experience around from the pizzeria (Lo Sprone) that was a few steps away from you. Thanks to you!
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
Oh my gosh I'm kicking myself for not finding this place sooner!!! Literally the BEST gelato flavor I've had since being in Florence came from this place. I got the Crema and Monna Lisa flavors and they were fantastic. The Crema, however, was by far my favorite. It had hints of orange, which pleasantly surprised me! I will definitely try to stop by here one more time before I go home because it was awesome!!! Highly recommend.
google avatar

Anco M.

Yelp
We stayed in an apartment basically above Gelateria della Passera. It is small, without the great displays elsewhere. The difference, however, is the intense flavours of the gelato which is so much better than elsewhere. Great visit. Oh, and the ice creams are also not ridiculously sized.
google avatar

Courtney B.

Yelp
I couldn't have dreamed of a better first gelato in Italy! The perfect creamy texture and beautiful flavors! I had the ricotta and citrus and the pistachio. I can't wait to go again and try more.
google avatar

Jason G.

Yelp
Best gelato I had in Italy. Really really good. The hype is well deserved! The vanilla was especially good.
google avatar

Alejandro S.

Yelp
Normally I wouldn't write a review for this. But it was highly rated and this place missed the mark. It was dripping down my hand before I even left the establishment. This is just your regular gelato shop on every street corner. Save yourself the trouble and the huge line and go anywhere else for ok tasting gelato. Which this place is. It's eh.
google avatar

Yelp
I went back in October 2016 and was referred by our B&B nearby. They say the key to good gelaterias is to find the spots that cover the gelato -- a little birdy told us that other places are not homemade/legit gelato. It was a cute nook outside of this piazza and not busy at all. They had plenty of flavors to choose from like: - fig - passion fruit - lemon - orange rose - mojito - raspberry - yogurt - vanilla - chocolate - pistachio - creme - hazelnut And MORE! They had a variety of cones too plus a traditional cup vessel. I went with my favorite chocolate and pistachio combo on a sugar cone. Divine!
google avatar

Andrew A.

Yelp
Classic, well made gelato. Cute and quaint shop. The best gelato is the one you can't see from the street.
google avatar

Shawn H.

Yelp
My wife's favorite gelato in Florence, partly thanks to their excellent whipped cream. She usually goes for stracciatella at most places, but particularly loves the chocolate here. (And I agree.)

Nicole C.

Yelp
Incredible gelato! The flavors are intense and bold. The texture is so smooth. Just get it.

Darrel F.

Yelp
Absolutely the best..we were in Florence and sadly found this place on our last day!!! Bet we'll be back though

Ryan S.

Yelp
The best gelato in Italy. The arancia is unlike anything I've ever tasted. I could not provide a higher rec.
google avatar

Jean L.

Yelp
This is a cute spot to grab some homemade, fresh gelato. I got one scoop of something with alcohol and one scoop of vanilla. It was a great combo, and for 2 euro, a steal. FYI the scoops are tiny so 2 scoops is more like 1 by US standards. The texture was really smooth but not totally perfect, which I enjoyed bc that bit of unevenness = no fillers. The other ppl in my group said they really enjoyed the delicious fruit flavors (white peach, blueberry, etc). Some advice I got from a local guide: - the smaller shops that make gelato often use lids to cover their gelato tubs (other reviewers have also mentioned this). The gelato tubs are always inside the shop. - the places that serve super brightly colored gelato with outdoor window access and overfilled bins don't usually make their own gelato and the super bright colors = additives, food coloring etc - also PASSERA is a reference to lady parts bc this square used to be known for its brothels.. it's also triangle shaped
google avatar

Yelp
This is by far the best gelato I have had. As a vegan, finding options can be difficult. However, half the flavors are dairy free here! There are about ten options for those who have a dairy restriction. I had the chocolate with black cherry and the honey with chamomile. So good!
google avatar

Ash C.

Yelp
Yummy Yummy in my tummy! Intense intense flavors. KAPOWWW KAPOWWW My tongue was flavor bombed by the orange chocolate and coffee resting on my sugarcone. I was not just licking ice-cream, I was witnessing some kind of sensual awakening among my taste buds. Hands down my favorite gelato place after Il Latte in Roma. You can eat gelato after every meal in Italy and your whole day's worth of gelato will cost less than one cup you'll have anywhere else. So go nuts and eat lots of gelato!
google avatar

Jimmy H.

Yelp
Gelato just wasn't the same after I had gelato at this place. The flavor options are exotic, creative, and very tasty. My favorite was the cream with 7 spices one -- "Crema ai 7 Profumi". It rocked my world. Usually, as a tourist, I try to do new things every day, but I kept coming back here, day after day, even though it was across town and over the river from my hostel. No other gelato shop anywhere in the US or Italy has compared to the experience I had with this place. They use very fresh ingredients--I once came upon them before they opened and there was piles of fresh whole fruit on the counters waiting to be mixed in to the gelato. The service was excellent. No bathrooms.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
This was the best gelato i've ever had!! (I've traveled a good amount throughout Italia too) This is a not a touristy trap. They don't have the insane over the top displays of fake ice cream with fruit and crap. It's just a sweet cozy storefront with some cute signs and the best damn gelato in town (possibly the planet). At €1 per scoop you get a ton for the price. The staff is super friendly and ready to give out extra samples and spoons. My toddler took full of advantage of this. The flavors cover all the staples (Fragola - strawberry, Nocciola (my fav) - hazelnut, Limon, yogurt, vanilla etc) and some not so standard Mona Lisa (walnut vanilla raisin cognac + others). Try them all... we hit it up everyday we were there. Sometimes twice a day! Deliziosissima!!!!
google avatar

Melissa Z.

Yelp
This is supposed to be the #2 gelato in Florence, but I was underwhelmed. You'll definitely want 2 scoops per person with very elegant flavors. I also prefer gelato with more mix-ins but I found other gelatos to be creepier.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Such a cute little shop. Skip the touristy gelaterias and come here. 1Euro per scoop and so yummy. Nice plaza out front to chill and little shops to browse nearby. Had pistachio and chocolate with hazelnut. Both winners!
google avatar

Rollins L.

Yelp
Real authentic gelato -- a MUST in Florence. Quaint little shop on the corner of a small square. You can't see the gelato in the containers (meaning it's really fresh & kept clean). A local recommended the ALMOND once to me and I've gotten it every time since. Employees are sweet & happy to be there. Can't wait to bring family & friends. Chocolate & coffee make a great pair. 1€ per scoop & a little more for each cone.
google avatar

Kathleen S.

Yelp
I'm in love with this place. Why? Because they have all your standard flavors with & without milk, plus a few edgy ones (milk with mint-- has real mint leaves! And cream of 7 spices). I was recommended by a local here and I'm so glad he did. This place is the cheapest I've experienced so far in a place like Florence; 1 euro for 1 scoop of gelato! Honestly, it is totallyy worth it for me because I like to save room in my stomach for other delicious food here in Florence, so I know I 'm not spoiling my lunch or dinner (or other desserts) coming here! They keep their gelato in the tin container which all gelaterias should do to keep the freshness alive. Service is very friendly! Hopefully, one day, I will somewhat somehow be here during the winter time.. as that is when they have their earl gray flavor out!
google avatar

Angie C.

Yelp
Really unique flavors. Got chocolate orange and some cream with pistachios. I really enjoyed the pure unique flavors than the traditional gelato that I have been having thru Italy like chocolate, pistachio, etc. It tastes of high quality. Recommend!
google avatar

Kaitlyn B.

Yelp
SO DELICIOUS! I studied abroad in Florence for 3 months and della Passera was a short walk from my school. In a nutshell, this place is just all-around wonderful. 1. Unique and delicious flavors They have such unique and interesting flavors that will please anyone! Their chocolate is amazing but so are all of their fruity flavors! My personal favorites are cioccolato, nocciola, and monna lisa. 2. Very well-priced Each scoop is only 1 euro and you can get it in a cup/cone/cup cone. Compared to most gelaterias in Florence, this is the best price-wise and flavor-wise!\ 3. The place is ADORABLE It's small but the tags for all the flavors are so beautiful and most of the staff here are very friendly.
google avatar

Brittney J.

Yelp
BEST gelato!! My friends and I visited Florence in May and stopped here on a walking tour and found out we were missing out! We loved it so much we ended up going back for this deliciousness! The second time I tried pistachio, pink grapefruit and vanilla! Pink grapefruit was my favorite flavor! You honestly can't beat this amazing treat for 1 euro!
google avatar

Marjorie W.

Yelp
Hazelnut is delicious and 1 scoop is only 1 euro!!! The chocolate orange is interesting and different.
google avatar

Stephanie J.

Yelp
The best gelato I had anywhere in Italy - when I went it was one euro per scoop which was cheaper than most in the area. Also, they had some of the most distinct flavors and the most delicious. Still remember the mint flavor and how delicious it was. Can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Amanda P.

Yelp
Best I've ever had. Period. Great price and great portion. Ive noticed the more they give you at a Gelateria, the worse the gelato. The flavors are incredible. The pamplemousse tasted like the real thing. Go here!!
google avatar

Priscilla Y.

Yelp
One of the most amazing gelato stores we visited in all of Europe. Recommended by a friend, we visited the gelateria and ended up coming back for seconds and thirds. It is one euro for each scoop and the scoops are much smaller than other stores. However, it is high quality gelato with unique and fresh flavors. We tried chocolate chip, coffee, pear, grapefruit, pistachio, and a few more. The coffee flavor is extremely strong and as a coffee lover, I enjoyed it a lot. Our favorite was definitely the pear flavor!
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
I've had better gelato in Florence so this is not a place I would go back to. I had a cone with Nocciola and chocolate for 2€. The gelato itself tasted a little salty; I found that strange.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Wonderful, homemade gelato!!! I had the pistachio, and the hazelnut, both were amazing. Truly authentic.
