I’m so glad we stopped in and it was March so it wasn’t busy. That meant we got the real experience! We let him choose our gelato flavors (that he hand makes!) and he told us about each flavor. For me he picked: lemon basil, chocolate fondant and pistachio (I never like pistachio but I tried it anyway) and they were all SPOT ON!!! What a lovely man too.

Google
Absolutely delicious gelato! Every flavor I tried was rich, creamy, and full of authentic taste. What makes this place even more amazing is that everything is 100% gluten-free — a dream come true for anyone with dietary restrictions. The staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. It's a charming little spot in Rome that's perfect for a sweet break during your day. If you're nearby, don't miss the chance to stop by — highly recommended!

Google
Vanilla ice cream was nice, we recommend you to taste it. One star gone for the level of kindness the seller showed to us. It looks like he was not very happy for a certain reason.

Google
The best pistachio gelato in the world! It’s a big claim but it’s true. I’ve been there 3X and today I met the owner/chef. He says he uses only pistachios from Sicily which are the most flavorful. The gelato is excellent. Other flavors I enjoyed are zabaione and basil lime (sorbetto).

Google
Service here was super quick, making it easy to grab a treat without the wait. While the gelato is a bit on the pricey side, the quality and variety of flavors make it worth it. Highly recommend the eggnog, chocolate rum, lemon custard, and pistachio — all rich, balanced, and full of flavor. The only miss was the lemon basil; the basil was too strong and the lemon too sharp, especially compared to the smooth lemon custard. Overall, a great stop for gelato lovers looking for something special.

Google
Great gelato! I’m not usually a sweet tooth, but this gelato was to die for—and for a great price! It was 3.50€ for 3 flavours of gelato in a small cup. I got a scoop each of crème caramel, tiramisu, and pistachio! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a cheap and delicious sweet treat :)

Google
A great little gelato place close to the Colosseum. The lemon-basil was a first we’ve seen but tasty. Everything we got was delicious and perfect for a stroll around the colosseum. Definitely recommend.

Google
Great options for vegans - rum ice cream chocolate, limone, dark chocolate. I really appreciated and the staff was so friendly. The ones with blue are all vegan!

Yelp
My biggest regret in Rome was forgetting to buy tickets to the Vatican museum in advance. My second biggest regret is finding this gelato shop on the last day of my trip (realizing I was having good but not mind blowing gelato this whole time in Italy). This shop had the best gelato in town, now surpassing my favorite spot Old Bridge near the Vatican. Highly recommend this spot, you can definitely taste the difference!

Yelp
Stop whatever you're doing and go directly to Gelateria Dell'Angeletto if you're anywhere near Rome! There is no reason to keep trying to find the perfect Roman gelato! Our hotel arranged for us to attend a free gelato tour in our area, but we arrived too late and missed the tour, so we set out to do our own thing. I searched for local gelateria and this one was the closest. So, off we went! It was apparent from the line of locals that we were going to enjoy our treat. As our turn came, we asked for a cup of coconut gelato. The owner smiled and told us to select three flavors! So, we scrambled and chose pistachio and strawberry. OMG! From the first bite, we were in heaven! I tasted the coconut and immediately told my wife, we're coming back to this place! And we did! We tried milk chocolate, banana, and caramel cream on our next visit. And there's no way we can pick a favorite until we return to try again. They also sell bottled water, Cokes, and Fanta for only 1.50 euros. Our cup of gelato was 3.50 euro. And worth every cent! See for yourself why they are recognized as the 2023 Travelers Choice award. Make this your next stop! Do it now! #todaysdiscovery #blunderingdiscoverer #traviswinman

Yelp
Fresh flavours, with a blend of unique and classic! The lemon basil was nicely balanced, the mixed berries were fresh, and the pistachio was rich and creamy. Fantastic service by the counter people who gave me a sample without me asking as they wanted me to be sure I'm happy with my choice - this gelateria is above and beyond!

Yelp
This gelato in Rome was delicious. The owner stayed open for us a little bit later because we arrived right before he was closing. Very friendly customer service and reasonable pricing.

Yelp
The espresso gelato tasted super odd. Not really caffe flavor--like maybe mint or something worse in there, and we threw it out. Pistacchio was fine but far from the best. Small was €5.
google avatar

Edith C.

Yelp
It was pretty good, only issue was that the creamy tasted a bit watery. Partner said his fruity flavors were incredible though. Employee was also nice!

Yelp
Sat down and went to write this review as soon as we got back to our hotel. I got the flavor "Rocher" and it was hands down the best gelato/ice cream I've ever had (I'm from New York). Small line but guy working was efficient. Small with nowhere to sit so we took the cones to-go. Must-visit if in Rome!
google avatar

Casey S.

Yelp
Gelateria dell' Angeletto has to be some of the best gelato in Rome - it's heavenly for a reason! Their fruity flavors are the way to go - the lemon especially stood out. Well worth the trip!
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
Delicious!!!! Definitely a popular spot and there could be a small line but worth it!!!
google avatar

Dennis L.

Yelp
Best gelato in Rome. Three flavors for less than four euros for a small. The pineapple was to die for. Make sure you go and try some of the many flavors before committing.

JD B.

Yelp
After much walking and research, trying several in the area...this is the best in the Monti!
google avatar

Yvonne Y.

Yelp
owner/manager is super nice and lets you take your time to choose the right 3 (even 4) flavors. He even reminded my kid the caffe flavor has real coffee in it in case she ends up bouncing off the walls all night. Loved the amarena, lemon custard, dark chocolate. The lemon/basil flavor is very tart so beware.
google avatar

Adina S.

Yelp
A solid spot for gelato! The owner was really friendly and allowed us to sample a few flavors before choosing. I asked him his favor flavor and he said he couldn't choose because everything is delicious and homemade. He did recommend trying a combination of flavors, with both dark chocolate and fruit. I'm not as much of a fan of the fruity flavors, so I didn't end up taking his advice, but no regrets here. The quality was great and even the cone was tasty. Come by after a trip to the Colosseum!
google avatar

Helen M.

Yelp
Homemade gelato and a friendly store owner. Can get 3 flavors in a small for 3 Euro. Would recommend the cantaloupe/melon gelato. Ricotta with chocolate and dark chocolate were not as good as other places in the area
google avatar

Young C.

Yelp
Best lemon basil soooo refreshing and good.. Peach was really good.. The coconut had too much coconut so I felt it over powered the Gelato part of it.. But still good. Pistachio was yummy also..
google avatar

Denise V.

Yelp
This is my first trip to Rome and happen to stop by at this gelato shop. It has the best tasting gelato ever it was like tasting heaven. It didn't matter which flavor you chose. They offered you a cone or a cup with three flavors. I chose everything that had fruit and it was divine. They had a tiramisu and vanilla that was to die for. I highly recommend if you're ever in Rome to stop in and get some gelato, you will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Andrea W.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday afternoon, got a small where I could pick 3 (!!) flavors, so I got: tiramisu, stracciatella, and pineapple. The former two were very tasty and creamy, pineapple was sorbet and a bit choppy, wouldn't recommend that.

Arina k.

Yelp
So tasty and lots of options that shows pictures for food allergies.iff the mains street with plenty of seating.
google avatar

Chad K.

Yelp
No complaints, nice portion for the price. Better compared to some other places we visited on our trip.
google avatar

Jen S.

Yelp
Delicious gelato with different flavor options and different dietary options. Of the 3 flavors I tried, the ricotta cheese and chocolate chip was amazing. My husband really enjoyed custard, which was very tasty, and lemon basil, which may have been dairy free and was delightful in the warm day. Definitely recommend
google avatar

Eric W.

Yelp
Fantastic place and great flavors worth it and 4 euro for a medium. Worth it! And service with a smile
google avatar

Dana S.

Yelp
Best gelato we had in Rome. Small storefront near our hotel in a fun neighborhood with lots of local shops and restaurants near the Coliseum.

Jinnie W.

Yelp
I tried 4 gelataria within 2.5 days and this is my top choice. Hidden away on a side street near the main Monti Piazza, this is better than "don Nino" in terms of price and service attitude. $3.5 euro gets you 3 flavour combo, I loved their lighter summer fruit choices. I had: melon, strawberry and ricotta cheese. Going back again!
google avatar

Rowena P.

Yelp
Intense salted caramel flavor. Smooth and creamy texture, yet light. Best gelato ever!

Marcia P.

Yelp
Freshly made, great price. So worthy it! Small place, nice service, can't complain! Will come back for sure next time and recommend to all my friends.
google avatar

Sam L.

Yelp
Delicioso. We liked it so much, we went back the next day. Being around the block from our hotel doesn't hurt either.

Yelp
Hands-down the best gelato we had during our entire time in Rome. I wish we had not even bothered to try other gelato places because this was the most decadent and indulgent gelato we had. Unfortunately for us, this was the first gelato spot we tried and all of the gelato spots we had after this did not even come close to comparing. This was also the best price gelato we had on our entire trip. I loved that we were allowed to sample as many flavors as we wanted before selecting. I opted for the vegan Nutella and the Caramel. I am not vegan but that Nutella gelato was out of this world. The man who was working there was so kind and friendly. He offered us suggestions of other places to try and was very engaging.

A R.

Yelp
The yelpers are right this place is exceptional. The kind of place that makes you realize what all the fuss is about with gelato. Quality is great, good choices - not as many as some of the touristy spots but plenty. Highly recommend.. it's a little hole in the wall on a side street but by a nice little square with a fountain, and a few other places. Easy to make this a daily habit if you're staying in the area.
google avatar

Sonia Alisa J.

Yelp
Heaven on earth. I've tried several place but this is something else! Grab a gelato and sit on the steps by the fountain. Truly a an experience that you will remember a lifetime
google avatar

Christine G.

Yelp
After having multiple local artisanal gelato from around Rome, I still think this is the best gelato. It's seriously one of the best things I've ever eaten and I'm not even a huge ice cream/gelato person. There isn't much else to report other then that?? So if you are in Rome be sure to stop here!

Vanessa B.

Yelp
Dairy Free Review! We happen to stumble across this wonderful Gelateria! I tried dark chocolate, strawberry and Nutella. Nutella!!!!! It was so creamy and delicious. I couldn't believe it was dairy free. But body confirmed it was true! I recommend this place 1000%!
google avatar

Mel P.

Yelp
I highly recommend this place for the best Gelato I have ever eaten world wide. While visiting Rome my friends wanted to get Gelato. I usually don't eat Gelato because I don't eat dairy. I asked if they had dairy free gelato. The owner told us that the Gelato with the blue spoons was vegan and gluten free. It turned out that half of the Gelatos were gluten free and vegan. We were staying at the hotel next to Gelateria Dell Angeletto for the week, so I got the chance to eat there every day and tried almost every flavor.
google avatar

Calli V.

Yelp
Best gelato in Rome. They offer 3 flavors for your serving and have great options to choose from. Highly recommend Banana, pistacchio, and lemon
google avatar

Veg V.

Yelp
We were soooo glad we stumbled upon this gem of a place. Ah, serendipity! A cute little place on a cobblestone alley near our hotel, and not far from the Colosseum, there are many flavors to choose from, including a selection of about a dozen vegan varieties nicely identified by the blue spoon (all the cones are vegan, too). Try the raspberry, wild mixed berries, lemon (or lemon-basil!), banana, chocolate, nutella, coconut, and more. I guarantee you will not be disappointed; quite the contrary. This was literally the BEST gelato I have ever had. Seriously. And to up the ante, the guy who owns and runs it is delightful. He's hard-working, fun-loving, and simply wants you to enjoy gelato and life. When we asked him about a particular flavor combo, because he insists on giving 3 scoops into 1 cone for 2.5 euros, he got animated and declared that "The gelato is the most democratic food in the world", because every flavor goes with every flavor. With that, we had absolutely no rebuttal and our only course of action was to carpe diem and enjoy.
google avatar

Nathalie C.

Yelp
Great Gelateria Spot we stumbled upon near the Colosseum. They had a great variety of flavors and we were able to sample all the flavors before making our final pick! The worker was friendly and approachable. He allowed us to pick 3 flavors in a small cup (only 2.50 euros)-and not to mention generous. The flavors were rich and did not compare to some of the main street gelatos we had before. Definitely, recommend!

Lauren C.

Yelp
One of the best gelaterias I've had in Rome or Paris. Got the black cookie and stracciatella
google avatar

Mike K.

Yelp
With gelaterie a dime-a-dozen in Italy, it really pays to be picky. This unassuming gelateria in the restaurant-rich neighborhood of Monti offere outstanding and great service at reasonable prices. I was most impressed by the owner, who took the time to offer his advice on flavor combinations, since the ones I had chosen were similar to each other. Not the usual "clear the lines" mentality.

Pam A.

Yelp
This is the best Gelato in Rome in our families opinion. We spent 3 nights in Rome recently and visited this place twice. Small location, not too far from the Forum and Coliseum. The owner was incredible nice and patient. Each size cup/cone could include up to 3 flavors of the creamiest and tastiest gelato. Flavors from Lemon Basil, to Peach to Nutella to Rum Chocolate. All were delicious. If you are visiting the Forum and/or Coliseum, take the extra 5 minute walk over to Gelateria dell' Angeletto. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Gelateria dell'Angeletto is on the way to metro stop Cavour - a perfect reason that I cannot miss it. It is also a rare place with vegan and gluten free options. Normally I intentionally had a light lunch so that I can save my stomach for the bigger, darker and crispier cone topped with 3 gelato balls (€ 3.5 is what you will pay or go for a smaller normal cone with € 2.5 but you will still have 3 gelato balls)! Angeletto offers way too much interesting flavors than those classics. When I asked for a "chocolate" flavor, I was asked "which chocolate?" Quickly counting, realized, they've got actually 5 different chocolate flavors... My favorites and definitely wanting to recommend are: Nutella vegan(really 100% Nutella), Fontante (guess is 70% plus dark), Nocciola (hazelnut from Viterbo), Pistacchio (from Bronte, Sicily), Ricotta cioccolato (un upgraded version to the normal worldwide milk chocolate), Caramel salato (a worldwide popular gelato flavor but rarely seen in Italy, cannot miss) https://www.gustobeats.com/gelateria-dellangeletto-its-more-than-just-artisan/

Yelp
Hands down the best gelato we had the entire time we were in Italy. If I'm ever in Rome again, I'm staying in Monti so that I can walk here multiple times a day. This was the first place we tried on a complete whim, and it was amazing. All the flavors were so vibrant, and tasted like their namesakes were actually used in their manufacture. The standouts IMO were pistachio, coconut, and mango, but so many others were great as well. We tried a number of places both in Rome and elsewhere in Italy that we traveled, and nothing quite compared. Seriously, THE BEST. And the owner is amazingly nice and friendly! It is cash only, but there is an ATM next door.
google avatar

Abilene P.

Yelp
Creamy Italian gelato, close to the colosseum. Delicious and refreshing! A must have.
google avatar

Ben C.

Yelp
I can't. This is the reason Gelato exists. This is what every other Gelato and Sorbetto wishes it could be. This is the house of an artist. Or a god. Or both.
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Service was fantastic. Place is very clean. Employees are friendly. I got the milk chocolate and it was very very good. Great after dinner treat!
google avatar

Camilla B.

Yelp
This place was crazy good. Close to the Colosseum but back streets - super secret kind of find! We each got three different flavors in our cone, which was more than what we expected to be offered. The cones were as good as the gelato, and the cookie garnish was a pretty and delicious touch. 2/3 of us went coo-coo for pistachio, but ALL the flavors were pretty incredible. They also have options for egg and dairy intolerant gelato lovers. I still believe my triad flavor selection was the best: pistachio, amoretto, & tiramisu. Can't really go wrong with flavor choices here, tho. We might have gone back for a second round before strolling back across town to our hotel...it was just that yum.
google avatar

Phat T.

Yelp
Super good !!! I got the lemon and loved it. We went back 2 more times during our visit.
google avatar

Corinna C.

Yelp
Really flavorful gelato with lots of egg and milk free options. It's also in a lively neighborhood so fun to walk around in the evening.
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
YOU MUST GO HERE !! Went to this little spot on our first day in Rome, hands downs the best gelato I've ever had. Went here every single day. Really awesome at educating us on how to spot "fake" gelato and helped us pair flavors together. Get the vegan Nutella, tastes like straight Nutella. Seriously would come back to Rome just for this gelato. If you don't come here, you are seriously missing out on a gem.
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
Great local and freshly made gelato in the local hipster streets. His Pistacchio was the best I tasted along the way...and I tried many. Very friendly and informative owner.
google avatar

Megan W.

Yelp
Pistachio was delicious! The server was playful - we enjoyed chatting with him and tasting a few before deciding. This places is a gem! Prices are stellar!
