So, to tell if a gelato is good, you must try the pistacchio flavour. If it's too green and smooth it's usually very bad, and this is the exact opposite, earthy green, grainy and indulgent yet light. A hidden gem in the city. Every week a spur-of-the-moment flavour including: lavender and honey, slated butter with saffron and orange blossom, peach with ginger and sage and so on and so forth. The staff members kindness is the cherry on top. Highly recommended if in Bologna. Out of all the amazing gelatos in Bologna, they stand out for the balance in their gelato. The flavours are truly balanced!

This is also another popular gelato shop in Bologna. It has been recommended on several social media platforms and I decided to visit. I didn't expect there to be so many people crowding outside the shop and there was a queue lining up to get the gelato. The queue was moving quite slowly because the staff actually allowed sampling of the gelato and also engage in talking with the customers to understand what kind of tastes they are into. Took quite a while for my turn but when it was me, I also encountered the same experience like others. The staff asked me what would I like and I asked for recommendations and then followed by a series of questions on preference he started to recommend some flavours to try. There are different variations of pistachio and chocolate so you can sample to see which one suits your taste buds before ordering. For me in Italy, eating gelato pistachio is a must, followed by chocolate or vanilla. So I had 2 flavours and then the staff recommended to try a more citrusy flavour and got me the Mandarin flavour. For me it was an awesome combination as the 3 flavours really complemented each other. It's such a steal when you get 3 flavours in a cup for 4 euros! And the topping is free and please do request for the whipped cream I can guarantee you that it is out of this world! There is only like a bench to sit outside the shop so some will sit and mostly will just crowd around and finish the gelato and throw the cup or tissue into the bin provided. One of the top recommendations for gelato in Bologna!

This gelateria is always bustling with customers, but the wait is usually just a couple of minutes. I decided to visit for their famous brioche ice cream, and I ordered mine filled with salted caramel and coffee ice cream, topped with whipped cream. As you can tell from the picture, it was huge, messy, but oh so enjoyable! I also tried their Mandarino & Limon flavor infused with bergamot and ginger. For me, the lemon flavor was the clear winner.

The best gelato I have ever had so far. Pistachio and fig flavours are the must try. The flavours are intense and authentic. Try lemon flavour if you like sour. It's refreshing in a hot day. For the price, portion is tiny though. It's more of quality than quantity.

Perhaps my favorite ice cream place in the world. And I’m kind of an ice cream crazy person ! Flavors are extremely well balanced and not too sweet. Their vegan flavors are probably my favorite (and I’m not vegan!)

You really have to appreciate unique flavors. This place has a lot of different ones. If you are just trying chocolate you are doing it wrong. This place had walnut a flavor I hadn’t seen yet and it was honestly perfect. Might just be the best flavor of my trip so far.

THE best ice cream in the world! If you are in a 100 km radius around Bologna you have to get there and try it. (Attention: you will never have any real good ice cream from this moment on since you will get a new standard for what is really good) Don't forget to take Panna with it 👌🏼

Yelp
Fabulous gelato. Small place with no real seating. Friendly staff. Gelato is not piled up for tourists -- it's thick and delish. I definitely recommend.

Yelp
Amazing gelato. Maybe the best of the trip! What else is there to say? They don't have questionable giant mounds on display but rather keep gelato in their metal containers. This is always a sign of good gelato! Did not disappoint! Hazelnut and chocolate was an excellent combination. Salted caramel was a unique flavor and good.

Yelp
Um, was fine, not my favorite. Was right around the corner from our lodging so I had to go based on the amazing reviews. Cremeria Cavour, Cremeria Funivia, and Sorbetterria Castiglione were WAYYYY better. I wouldn't give it less than a 4, because many gelato in Italy are going to be good, but this wasn't so memorable. I also made the mistake of getting the vegan almond milk one. Eh pass.

Yelp
This friendly shop sells coppette with up to 3 flavours for 4 euros, which is a big portion. The flavours are really interesting and offer very different choices from the fun-filled chocolately options at Gelateria Gianni or the purist classic selection at Cremeria Santo Stefano. I really enjoyed one of the specials 'sicilia', which combined pistachio, almond and citrus flavours to wonderful effect. The mascarpone was also delicious. The staff were particularly friendly and there's a couple of benches to sit outside under the portici.

Yelp
Great gelato flavors and friendly server! Super yummy. Would totally go again.
