I lived in Paris for a month and a half to study abroad so I'd like to think that I've had my fair share of desserts ;) Gelati d'Alberto (GDA for short) is hands down at the top of my list for gelato!
GDA is a small gelato shop located on Rue Mouffetard, which is a popular touristy area in Paris. (For all you Anglophones out there, many of the servers speak English.) They, like many other gelato shops in Paris, shape their coned gelato into flowers. Neat huh? But if you don't really care for cones or flowers, you can always opt for gelato in a cup too!
Before visiting here, I often frequented the more well known gelato mega-chain, Amorino. While they're both comparable, GDA definitely wins in the flavor department. Relative to Amorino, I think their flavors are more natural tasting (so not as sweet) and subtle. I had strawberry and watermelon... and it was magic. It tasted like the actual fruits - I was so impressed! (Amorino also tastes natural, but not *as* natural... if that makes sense?) My friends have tried the other non-fruity flavors (cheesecake, chocolate, speculoos, the like) and our general conclusion is that GDA really knows how to make tasty gelato!
BOTTOM LINE: Come here for natural tasting gelato - you won't be disappointed!
