Best gelato ever. Plenty if flavors to chose from. My favorites were the guava one and chocolate cappuccino. Young woman serving the ice cream was really nice and helpful.

OMG! The flavors all looked so good that I asked if they do samples. They said they did and I tried the Pear Sorbet. It was soo goo, that I didn't try any other samples. It was like eating pears. Light and creamy

Tasty well made gelato. The pistachio had real pistachios, the chocolate was pretty good, and the caramel was true to taste. Highly recommended.

In this little shop you will find the best ice cream you can ever eat in CT!! Creamy, flavorful, the owner is right there and she is very nice, excellent service!! You have to try it, no doubt!!

All I have to say is I cannot believe I never reviewed this place 7 years ago! This place never ever fails and if you want true creamy gelato, get here...uber if you have to, you'll thank me. Great staff and owner and even greater gelato.

Super clean, nice place to sit, service is great, gelato is second best in the area - it's definitely amazing but it cannot beat GELATO&Cioccolato in Cos Cob - it's VERY close! It's definitely still a 4.9-5 - I highly recommend it. Super creamy and delicious - you can't go wrong with any flavor?

I honestly don't know how this place can't have a 5* rating across the board. Anytime I haven't liked a flavor it's been purely due to my taste preferences, not because the recipe was bad. I almost think the owner could make me like mushrooms by making a mushroom gelato or sorbet but also, please don't, I don't want to be forced to try it. If you're considering trying out this gelato, do it. They even let you taste test which I always appreciate, I take my gelato choices seriously. What I've gotten: Passion fruit - 5* tart, sweet, and refreshing. Chocolate hazelnut - 4.5* I'm not a fan of nuts in dessert but rolled with it so I could enjoy this delicacy. Pistachio - 5* honestly the best pistachio gelato I've ever had. I know this is a really popular flavor for a lot of people but it never has been for me. After trying it here, with her most recent recipe, I have become converted. The pistachio layer on top is so delicious. It's really sweet, almost like it's a pistachio chocolate, which maybe it is... who knows!

Delicious gelato in downtown New Canaan! We were pleasantly surprised to find this gem so close to home - we are big fans of gelato and anything that is of the cold and creamy sweet category, so this was a great find for us. Gelato didn't come across as icy or anything untoward. Parking is a bit of a challenge but there is a commuter lot that is free on weekends for visitors which is a tiny hop skip and jump away. Definitely check it out!

OK - as in my other ice cream reviews, five criteria, 5 points each: 1. Taste - flavors are strong and vibrant, no taste of alcohol or extracts. Tastes like good Italian gelato. Straciatella in particular is notable. 5 pts 2. Flavor choice - generally around 20 flavors including sorbets at any one time. The right mix of basics and some more Italian specialties. Nothing too exotic but nothing silly (no peanut butter and jelly for example). 5 pts 3. Texture - they have nailed it. The right density and creaminess. Most of the places in our area that sell gelato (or try to) can't get this right - maybe it's because they try to make it more like ice cream so it can stay fresh longer than gelato. 5 pts 4. Freshness - I have been here dozens of times and the gelato always tastes freshly made. No crustiness or ice. 5 pts. 5. Ambiance - small place, not much seating inside and very little outside. Parking can also be a challenge. But clean and the staff is very friendly. 4 pts. So 24/25, and worthy of a 5-star review. Closest thing to authentic Italian gelato that I have found in the US.

Food : 1000/10 Service: 1000/10 Ambiance: 1000/10 What an amazing coffee/ gelato shop. The gelato is so fresh and seriously authentic. There is no other way to put it. I love it here, cannot go wrong with anything. Feel free to taste almost any flavor before making your final selections. The portion size is perfect and is reasonably priced for authentic gelato in US.

Consistency is key ! This place delivers each and every single time. Quality ingredients, eclectic menu and every flavor is true to taste! I love this place and go out of my way to enjoy this treat! The gelato macaroons are to die for!

Good icecream place. Parking could be tricky. Chocolate hazelnut was my favorite. Expresso and coconut were good as well. Unfortunately I didnt get pistachio.

I was shocked to see this place didn't have a Yelp page since it's been around for quite a few years! This place is the real deal!! It's the most authentic gelato I've had in CT and it's even owned by a couple of people from Italy. My favorite flavor is the hazelnut! It has small chunks of hazelnuts in it which makes it even better. Definitely recommend going if you're in the area (or even if you live 50 minutes away like me lol!)

This place has the best gelato you can find in the tri-state area (I haven't been to Italy yet so I'll update this when I get there). As someone who has been told they're indecisive, I appreciate that I never feel judged for sampling more than one flavor and can get a small cup with two flavors. Their classic flavors like bacio, tiramisu, and stracciatella are reliable favorites. What makes Gelatissimo outstanding is their seasonal flavors. If you're fortunate enough to stop by in the autumn, you need to try their black fig and goat cheese. If you are dairy-free, their sorbetto is great too. I like the mango and strawberry flavors. They taste just like fresh fruit!

$3.50 for small which is a perfect size. Loved the blood orange flavor, hint of sour, Not too sweet. Just a bit out of the way from the main street. It was our first time in the area so we happened by it while walking around.

Had the lemon pie. Sweet baby Jesus it was delicious! Wife enjoyed it as well. Yum. Yum. Yum.

Flavors are nice but the amount you get is dependent on the mood of your server. Service was poor and server was rude and unfriendly.She completely ignored a question and request I had. Ambiance is ok but the atmosphere is stuffy pretentious and cramped.

Prices keep going up, but the portions keep going down. We will begin to frequent the 2 Westport shops more often because even though this shop makes amazing gelato, they are not the only one anymore.

Just happened to stumble upon this gem. I don't care about the cost it was fantastic. My son is picky with everything and loved it too. I got the cappuccino, finished it and then got lemon and strawberry to go. I'm coming back every week

This is great! Been hard to find good gelato, but for outside of Italy (and Brooklyn where my fav place is), this has been the best yet! Will return many many times.

Fantastic. We are genuinely happy that we found Gelatissimo after taking a long hike in Mianus River Gorge Park Preserve. Coconut Chocolate Charcoal & Chocolate Hazelnut. We'll definitely be back to try more of their unique flavors. Now I must eat my gelato.

Came here today while strolling around New Canaan. I sampled the non dairy chocolate, tiramisu, chocolate hazelnut, and mint gelato. I ended up going with the non dairy chocolate- the creaminess really blew me away!! I don't know how they made it so creamy without dairy, but it was tastier than the other flavors. The employee (not sure if she's the owner or not) was not friendly at all. She seemed really annoyed that I wanted to sample ice creams before choosing one (isn't that what people do before making such an important decision?). Oh well.

10 out of 10, would recommend! You can't go wrong with gelato and this tastes like Italy.

The BEST! Don't even bother going anywhere else you have everything you need here. Mint chocolate chip, salty Carmel, cappuccino, hazelnut, wild mixed berry, vanilla and chocolate mint, banana and the list goes on . So creamy and delish! Extra bonus for me - my kids were quiet the whole time

We dropped off in the late afternoon. This is clearly a popular spot with kids. We got the passion fruit sorbet that also had banana and mango in it. Texture was good but it was way too sweet to me. Also very pricey at $5ish for a small cup. Overall lots of seating and shop looked very clean.

Tried 4 flavors including passion fruit, hazelnut praline, raspberry and goat cheese fig. All amazing! Delish!!

This gelato is hands down the closest thing to Italian gelato from Italy I've ever had. They do more thank gelato too, which is so great! I've tried tons of flavors, a different one everY time I go in, and I have not been disappointed with any! It's so flavorful and they hAve some fun and funky flavors. The staff is incredibly kind, especially the owners! I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

Amazing! Who would have guessed that Norwalk, CT would have a gelato shop that's as good as my favorite spot in Florence, Italy? We had just successfully finished a big project in town and were looking to celebrate a little. Since neither of us are drinkers, ice cream was the treat of choice. I cranked up Yelp and found this wonderful little shop. Of course, the gelato is home made. Of course, the temperature is correct. Of course, the consistency was creamy without being custard. The owner is from Milan and knows how to make real Italian ice cream. It's all good. Make that great! While I live in NJ, I'm planning a road trip with my wife to explore the town and have another cup of delightful gelato. Highly recommended!

I recently opened a new salon on Main Street, which is about a 1 minute walk from Gelatissimo. If you are on Forest Street, then you are probably having lunch/dinner at one of the many restaurants that line both sides of the street. It is almost mandatory that you stop at Gelatissimo for a gelato after you are done. It's gelato... it's amazing. Many flavors available and it's a quick in an out. They have a small courtyard nearby where you can eat it, or on one of the many benches that line Forest St. Prices are very reasonable. Whether you are an adult or kid... it's gelato... you're gonna love it.

If you want Italian Gelato then this is the place to go to! All the Gelato is amazing! There are many options! They offer 3 sizes cups, and you can have a sample to try new flavors. You can also have it in a waffle cone. You can sit comfortable at one of the tables . There is a flat screen tv so you can enjoy your treat with Tv. There is a small bench outside if you would like to have your Gelato outside.

Best gelato in the area. We special ordered some macaron gelato sandwiches and mini gelato parfait cups for an event and they were perfect little sweet bites. The owner is super sweet and accommodating.

Velvety smooth textures. Perfect levels of sweetness. Tons of flavors to choose from, including seasonal flavors along with the year-long favorites....I know a place that is to die for! I have to confess that I am quite picky when it comes to frozen treats. I feel that most ice cream places tend to have very sweet products. So much so that the actual flavor of the treat gets overpowered. So when I find the perfect sweet treat...I have to stick to it, right? I love Love LOVE Gelatissimo in New Canaan. As soon as you enter the store, you feel transported to a place that we all fantasize about as kids. Friendly, cheerful staff greeting you as you enter. Tons of yummy gelato flavors to choose from. And happy gelato-licking faces coming in and out of the front door! Why, even the color on the walls looks simply delicious! A couple of years ago, I went with my family to Italy. Collectively we vowed to try Gelato in every city we visit. It was quite a daunting task - as you can imagine, but it had to be done. I am proud to say that we stuck to our vow, even when it meant eating as many as 3 Gelatos a day! We all agreed that the Gelato we had in Florence was the best and creamiest. As soon as we returned from our trip, with fresh memories of the yummy Gelati we sampled in Italy and the sweet taste still almost there in our mouths...we went to compare it all to Gelatissimo, New Canaan. I kid you not when I tell you that it was as good as the Florence version! So my advice: if you can't go to Italy any time soon...go to the next best thing right here in your backyard!

Delicious and Expensive No issues at all with anyone who has praised this ice cream. I'm not the richest dude on the planet, but Gelatissimo is too tempting. After dinner in New Canaan I pretty much cannot help but go to Gelatissimo for dessert. How do they do it? I don't know. They've pretty faithfully reproduced in a little Connecticut village the ice cream you get in Italy. The milk is different, the sugar is different, but it tastes pretty much the same. Big on the hazelnut. Stratciatella's excellent. I'm not much of a fruit gelato person but my friends who've tried the various berry and citrus flavors have universally mmmed and ahhhhed. You can choose between a waffle cone or one of those little novelty cones with the flat bottom. Or a cup, of course. Needs no toppings. Perfect as is. Very, very, pricey, however. One particular day I paid $4 for a full hot lunch at a restaurant in Bed-Stuy, and paid $4.20 for a small ice cream cone at Gelatissimo the same evening. These prices are a function of New Canaan, which is a gosh darn expensive town, and whatever labor and ingredients go into this gelato. So it wouldn't be fair to call it overpriced. Hence no star reduction for the cost. But I'm classifying it with four dollar signs because it *is* "ultra high-end" ice cream. Avoid this place if you don't want to become addicted and broke (like me).
