Gelato Franco

Pros: generous portion sizes, half/half scoop, very cute shop Cons: I prefer Messina as the gelato was too watery and melted v quickly so I had to eat the gelato fast which meant I couldn’t savour the flavours. Also, the servers don’t smile which is a bit sad considering you serve gelato everyday - what’s not to be happy about!

Gelato Franco is hands down our absolute favourite place for gelato. It’s not just an ice-cream stop for u, it’s our go-to place, every single time. The flavours are consistently amazing, rich, and perfectly balanced. You can genuinely taste the quality in every scoop. No matter how many new places we try, nothing ever comes close to Gelato Franco. What truly sets this place apart is the warm, friendly staff and the homely, welcoming vibe. It feels comforting, familiar, and happy, like a little treat that always lifts your mood. Ever since I started having ice cream here, it’s honestly been hard (almost impossible!) to enjoy gelato anywhere else. Once you try Gelato Franco, everything else just feels like a compromise. Highly recommend — a must-visit if you love real, authentic gelato ❤️🍨

Had the organic matcha and pistachio flavours (1 scoop with 2 flavours for $8). Amazing flavours. Friendly service with nice little clean sitting area. Thank you and will be back 😀🙏

This place is a gem. The tiramisu gelato is seriously the best I’ve had in Sydney. Super creamy, not too sweet, with a strong coffee taste and a soft, rich texture. Tastes just like the real dessert but colder and better. The shop itself is small and a bit old-school, but that makes it feel homey. Staff are friendly, and the vibe is super chill. Good portions too. If you’re in Marrickville, this is a must-stop. Skip the fancy places — this one does it right.

Lovely gelato. Its a fairly small shop, but tr,hey do have a good range of flavours. Nice atmosphere friendly staff. We choose it over Messina. Just a few chairs outside, a table & chairs inside.

Delicious and rich authentic gelato flavours. You know it’s good when you see that they have a kitchen at the back and see the churner. These guys make their gelato in house which is a big tick. The pistachio and the creme brulee gelato was creamy and rich, yet also very light. Scoop portion was generous, there are seats inside and overall a very good experience

They don't allow tasting. The first gelato shop I've been to that is like that. So you have to roll the dice. The Donatello was nice but the panacotta had zero flavour just tasted like frozen sugar water. Girlfriend said the same. Which then bought me back to the whole tasting thing. Plastic spoons to throw away. Not wooden/bamboo. Not an awful place but nothing special. Prices are high for what you get. Decor ok with some recycled period pieces. Nice interior.

Gelatos Franco could just be my new favourite gelato store! I had a double scoop of creme brulee and pistachio ($9.50). The creme brulee was very creamy while the pistachio had lots of nuts throughout it. My friend had stracciatella and strawberry and yoghurt. The tanginess of the strawberries ate well with the sweetness of the gelato. The cone was made well, too. It was light and crisp, with just the right amount of sweetness.. We both enjoyed our gelato a lot. Although perhaps more on the expensive side in comparison to other ice cream and gelato places, the serving sizes were very generous. I like the look and feel of the store, too. It had a great atmosphere.

You simply cannot go to Marrickville and miss this place! I'm so happy they've moved locally! Best and authentic Italian flavours. Made with love. I'm here like 2-3 times a week it's quite sad. The staff are all so lovely and welcoming. They now do take home tubs 600 ml for $11! For one scoop it's $4 and they give too much! But I'm not complaining. My fave is the zabaglioni, banana and tiramisu! Can't go past it. So delicious!

Im finally ticking of some of my many bookmarked places, Gelato Franco being one of them :D!! They're situated right down the end of marrickville road just past illawarra road, so a bit away from the hustle & bustle of Marrickville :). Came here with a friend, who me and him both had big cravings fo gelato/Sorbet :). I ended up getting the choc chip, peach and passion fruit :), all delicous flavours but my Numero uno of the 3 was the choc chip and that was the bottom scoop (oh yeah :D). My friend got the peach, watermelon & banana, the banana & watermelon were the stand out flavours. Normally for the both flavours when you order it elsewhere it has the fruity taste and thats it.. but the banana flavour was exactly the taste and texture of mooshed banana haha & the watermelon had the exact taste and feel of a crushed watermelon smoothie after each scoop :). Without a doubt the best tasting choc chip & Banana/watermelon Gelato I've had to date :)!! Will definately be back and recommending this place :D!!

We went here at 7:30pm, who would have thought they'd be open.... The shop was alive and buzzing with chatting customers and energetic and friendly staff. We had coconut dairy free in a cone and chocolate in a cup. Really big servings, great "real" flavors with "real" coconut chunks. The staff said that all ingredients to make their product are fresh not flavoring or artificial additives which really comes out when you devour these tasty treats. Easy to find at the west end of the strip with loads of parking. Good prices, lots of choice and coffee too.
