Gelato Messina Coolangatta

This place has delicious gelato and many flavors to pick from. The best part is that it's located right by the beach so it makes for a great refreshing treat on a hot summer day at the beach. I'd definitely go back.

EXCEPTIONAL. it's not just tasty - it's MAGICAL. Definitely best in Coolangatta. Been there couple of times and every single visit simply leaving me speechless, so good it is. Wide array of flavors with few changing specials, everything fresh, smooth, creamy with a great texture. Such a good job! love it! Tried couple of other gelato places around and nothing can beat Messina ones - you guys the best!

Their pistachio praline ice cream is really the best. The pistachios are nice & crunchy. Sometimes they run out of it, so I call & check the availability before I drive 20 minutes to enjoy it. Their takeaway containers are quite good in keeping the ice cream solid for a long time.

The ice cream is always fantastic however, I’m not entirely sure but it seems that the ice cream is not stored at -18C but instead at a lower temperature which results in it melting quite quickly. Aside from that the weekly new menu is always a surprise and a delight.

I love Messina and all of the fabulous ice cream on offer - it never disappoints. Such a shame that I am unable to say the same for the customer service. On the 13/4/2019 I came in my with my family at approximately 8pm and was ignored. When I was finally served the girl who served me was unable to even look at me as she proceeded to talk to her co workers the entire time... it’s a shame that such a great product is accompanied by such poor customer service.

I was recently there with my wife, and I must say I was disappointed. I ordered a pistachio flavoured ice cream, expecting it to taste sweet but it tasted like murky wood and had very little resemblance to the pistachio flavour. My wife had the flavour named "Number Two" and was not very impressed with that one either. Even though we weren't impressed by the flavours we chose, I'm sure they serve other delicious flavours.

I suppose the rating is somewhat of a reflection on Coolangatta, a sleepy beach town in between some of the major destinations that doesn't have a ton of special things to offer. That being said, if you're there, you'll at least find this gelato place full of inventive flavors, of which I ate several. They allowed me to sample the fresh mint in advance, and it is distinct from most other mints but was nonetheless tasty. I was somewhat less enamored with their matcha flavor, which had quite a few nuts and not enough of the actual matcha for my liking, and some kind of fig (I think?) based thing that was quite appealing. It's worth spreading yourself around a bit I think. The place is outside on the beach side of a large shopping mall, but is open beyond the mall's limited hours.

Outstanding gelato and exceptional customer service. The hokey poker is still high on my list. Tried the tiramisu and it was delicious.

After having tried Gelato Messina a few times in Sydney and raving to all my Brisbane friends about it, I was so stoked to hear it was finally coming to QLD! Not sure why they chose Coolangatta however it makes for a great excuse to road trip down the M1 for a tasty beach treat. Known for their creative flavour combinations and constant new creations, these guys are sheer geniuses in the gelato realm. Hope they open in Brisbane soon too!

Delicious!!!! Top quality Gelato. ..treat yourself Rungs rings around your standard Gelato shops. Worth the drive into coolangatta to get takeaway!

Tried Messina in Sydney a couple of times and it's a bonus that they opened up a store in Coollangatta. I tried 2 of the new flavour's and they were just as good as the one's in Sydney. A bit expensive but you get what you pay for...
