Best vegan ice cream I’ve had in Toronto outside of Honey’s. I eat dairy and usually choose that as vegan ice creams are often icy, just not as creamy, and sometimes even have a weird aftertaste. Not this one…. The pistachio was delectable, so creamy with a nice pistachio paste swirled in too. I seriously couldn’t tell it was vegan, it rivals some of my favorite pistachio gelatos in the city (Nani’s and Mizzica… and not Nani’s vegan which is one of the icy ones).
I did get a bit of sticker shock at $22 for a pint, but I think it’s worth it. They generously gave cones with the pint too.
They also have a very cute kiddie scoop for when you’re full but still want a few bites, probably 2-3 tbs serving in a little espresso cup. While I didn’t try it, I noticed they also have gluten-free cones.
Service is friendly and I could tell they know their regulars. Very kid friendly and it’s a husband and wife family-run business. There was a small wait but it was because they were helping other people and they were really nice about it.
Definitely worth visiting when you’re in the area, I will definitely bring back more pints for when I want ice cream and can skip the lactaid!

I ordered three flavours — pistachio, chocolate fondant, and mango — and they were all absolutely delicious! I’d definitely recommend this place to any gelato lover.
The only small thing I’d point out is the sample spoon. When I asked to try a flavour, it was served with a metal spoon, which didn’t feel super hygienic. Maybe switching to disposable wooden or plastic ones would be better.
Other than that, everything was great and I’ll happily come back again!

Pistachio gelato was absolutely one of the best I’ve ever had—rich, creamy, and packed with authentic pistachio flavor. You can really taste the quality ingredients, and the texture was perfectly smooth. The service was also outstanding—super friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The owner took their time to explain the different flavors which made the experience feel really personal and enjoyable. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for great gelato and warm, genuine service. I’ll definitely be back to get more pistachios!

Gelato On The Danny & Espresso Bar — fresh, house-made gelato crafted by the father himself! Amazing flavours, rich taste, and super fresh. Can’t wait to come back soon!

The best tasting and variety of vegan gelato anywhere! Chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut, pistachio, strawberry, mango, lemon. And then special flavours like prickly pear and cantaloupe.
Kathy and Sebastian are so friendly, and if you sneak a visit without your kids they will not say a word about it the next time you come in with your kid 😂
Worth the drive, walk, bike, subway to get here!

Delicious homemade gelato, with so many flavours, great food options for lunch and dinner which are reasonably priced. Great friendly customer service, I come here often for lunch.

I am lactose intolerant and I haven’t had gelato that isn’t iced lemon in YEARS - but this place THIS PLACE has so many dairy free options (see my picture for today’s choices) and I have to tell you it made me shed a tear of joy to have hazelnut and vanilla. I will be back to try them all! (I had a taste of the lemon at the behest of the owner who makes it all in house, and yes the lemon was AHmazing too.)

Yelp
Really fun place and real neighborhood gem, especially when you can see neighbourhood families and the barbershop staff coming in for gelato and late lunch. Had a lovely mix of mango and strawberry gelato with a little wafer cone garnish. Loved that the vegan gelatos were all in a separate fridge case. Had a small lemon granita which could have been just a little less sweet but otherwise yummy for a hot day!!
The owners were so welcoming and friendly!

Yelp
Super friendly owners and the gelato is made in house. As good as you're going to get outside of Italy.

Yelp
I visited the Danforth last Saturday. While I was driving along Danforth Avenue, I saw a sign that said "On the Danny."
Perhaps Danny is a new nickname to me. I had no idea!
I was parked on the Danny (might as well practice using this term) to visit Little Robot Friends. As I was walking over to it, I passed by Gelato on the Danny. It sounded like the perfect place to stop by on a muggy, humid day. I flagged returning here after shopping at Little Robot Friends.
I returned to this store with a large bag of plushies. I opened the door and walked in.
I got the nicest greeting from the woman behind the counter. I wanted gelato. She asked whether I had any allergies. I said that I'd prefer to not have any dairy in my gelato. She pointed me to the dairy-free gelato and took the time to let me know what each flavour was.
There were cone and cup sizes for gelato. I went with a medium cup, which allowed me to select up to three flavours.
I got the following gelato:
- Lemon
- Coconut
- Canteloupe
She asked if I had any egg allergies. I don't. She put a piece of pizzelle in my gelato. It was a nice touch.
I paid with a credit card. I tapped and tipped. I thanked her and left the store.
I decided to walk over to my car to put my plushies away. Although humid, I decided to head back to this store and sit on the patio. It was quiet and nice.
The woman at this store works hard. She was cleaning the windows and asked me how I liked the gelato. The cantaloupe is the real deal. It's the natural sweetness of the cantaloupe in frozen form. She was sweet checking in with me.
The same goes for the coconut and lemon flavours. The former had a hint of coconut flake texture in the gelato that I loved. I'm a huge coconut fan and this gelato was perfect. The lemon was tart and yummy. I am also a huge lemon person.
A couple came over and hitched their dog's leash to the metal fence. The man asked if my gelato was good. It was excellent. Their dog ended up looking through the glass to see what the owners were doing.
I realized that my sitting on the patio made folks come into the store. Who knew that I'd be a sitting gelato magnet... haha!
This find was awesome! I look forward to returning to try more gelato flavours. This place also has coffee in hot and iced forms. I'd love to try the latter during the summer.

Yelp
Could gelato worth making the trip.
We were in the area and didn't know where to go for gelato so I looked it up on yelp and we went there. We were very happy with what we found.

Yelp
It was a random stop to dodge the rain and find dessert after dinner. We were too timid to brave the Unicorn Cafe, so we ended up here instead. Honestly, it's not just the gelato that would bring me back, but the couple running the place. Their down-to-earth attitude and big energy were fantastic and made the experience memorable. Don't get me wrong however! The gelato is great quality. I'm just a spoiled kid who's tried, but I don't recall ever feeling so welcomed and treated like a guest in someone's home. The warmth and hospitality are more than enough reason to revisit!

Yelp
Cute little gelato and coffee shop on Danforth! Stumbled upon this place because we were craving something sweet after eating Indian food down the street. The shop is pretty humble looking and is run by the friendliest husband and wife duo! We ordered gelatos and macchiatos and sat down to enjoy it on a cold rainy afternoon, had some great chit chat with the owner and walked away happy, warm and satisfied.
Macchiatos were rich and delicious, each cup came with a little piece of chocolate and a cup of water. Great hospitality!
Super fun gelato flavors, they also offer vegan options and they also have some hot foods available for order if you're craving a bite. A small cup of gelato was $6 and it came with two flavors of choice.
I don't know what is about Canadian restaurants but everywhere I've been this week has been so hospitable and the owners are always so friendly and willing to chat, especially in mom and pop shops. I'm from the States and I can't match this level of hospitality and welcoming to anywhere I've been back home. Thank you Toronto!! Grab some coffee from this amazing couple in Danforth!!

Yelp
Ice cream tastes better in Italy. That's what a gelato aficionado will tell you and despite my general distaste for anyone who calls themselves an "Aficionado ", I have to agree.
But sometimes, ice cream in the new world gives the old country a run for its lira. Enter Gelato on the Danny! It's a humble but satisfying spot for high quality gelato to enjoy on an afternoon or evening stroll.
I had the pear paired with lemon. My companion had pannecotta and strawberry. All four flavours were rich and real. The finish on your palate is clean, a tell tale sign of high quality gelato as opposed to the waxy or oily aftertaste left by lesser grades.
Friendly proprietor, good service.
Take a walk on the Danny. Eat gelato. Repeat.

Yelp
I had read so many positive reviews about Gelato On The Danny that I traveled 20 minutes just to try their ice cream. Unfortunately, what I experienced was incredibly disappointing, upsetting and racist. While eating, we found a plastic wrapper in our ice cream. When we politely brought this to the attention of the staff, instead of apologizing, one of the owners laughed, smirked and said"I have every right to laugh". The rudeness didn't stop there--they screamed at us to leave the shop while we were discussing the issue. To make matters worse, they threatened us, saying, "I dare you to write a one-star review--watch what we will do to you then." We did end up getting a refund from them, but I do not think my request for $6.5 refund warranted such hostile behavior.
It's hard to believe such unprofessional and disrespectful behavior exists at a place that's supposed to serve the community. I certainly won't be returning and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Especially any people of color.

Yelp
Visited from Texas with my family and we got the gelato.. man it was delicious! There are so many options to choose from. Dairy and non dairy! Owner was so friendly and sweet!

Yelp
In total we tried six flavors and all of them were amazing! Our two favorites were the passion fruit and our absolute favorite was the fig walnut...the BEST gelato I've ever had. Highly recommend them! They also seem like great people who love their city and neighborhood, ho could ask for more?

Yelp
The yogurt Fig and Walnut gelato was unbelievable!! Definitely go get some, you will not be disappointed. Owner was very knowledgeable, friendly and fun. I will be back often!
