"A huge dolomite rock rising up from Hotel Gellért at its base marks one of the earliest inhabited parts of Budapest . The citadel atop the hill was built by the Austrians in the mid-1800s to better control the unruly Hungarians after squashing the revolution (it was later used by German SS troops in World War II). Other monuments dot the verdant landscape atop the hill, which is now surrounded by posh residences. The walk up from the hotel is steep but worth it for the view once on high."

The view from the top is very beautiful. You can see the Danube and some of the bridges that connect the city. It’s not very hard the walk all the way up and you can take breaks along the way. There are also some benches where you can sit down and relax. If you visit the city I think you also need to go and explore this place. Unfortunately the top area where the statue is located is closed due to renovation and you can’t go there

The views are spectacular from the top. It's a short easy hike. I wish I'd go there at night as well.

The view from this place is a must see. You don't have to be in the top most to see this view, along the way up you will see trails that will have a good view of the river and the city so you just have to follow it. #emeraldcruises #danuberivercruise

It has been completely locked down from all directions. I understand they’re sorting out a huge building project, but at least the pavements should be available. Not much sign, apart from the road signs, so if someone walks up there that would be a huge disappointment. On the other hand, the last available terrace is big enough to see the river banks and the main tourist attractions from bird views. Budapest is beautiful, no matter what. Hope they did this road and building works for a more amazing outcome.

It was a harder climb to the top than the other famous tourist attractions. But the view along the way was lovely, and the walk down the hill was very enjoyable. Private operators at the bottom of the south end of the hill offer the service to take you up to the top for 5,000 per person, which is arguably worth it, for those who may struggle with climbing but still want to enjoy the rest of it!

Breathtaking views from up the hill, you can see the Danube river and its magnificent bridges from above. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately a lot of the paths are under construction now, but the view is still definitely worth it, especially at night. It can get crowded on the viewing terrace but if you claim a spot early you will be fine.

Gellért Hill is a beautiful spot in Budapest that I highly recommend visiting to see the stunning views of the city. As you ascend the hill, sometimes walking through lush green trees and other times enjoying views of the Danube River and Budapest, it offers a delightful walking route.
