Gem is my favorite jewelry store and all my jewelry comes from this shop! The friendly staff will greet you and help you find what you need. I first met the owner- Laura- 24 years ago when we both had shops in Bucktown! Her kindness and meticulous eye for detail has not changed at all! She is truly a rare gem. I first found their shop on Instagram because I was looking for permanent bracelets. I got one and I’m hooked. I went back for another, then a necklace, now a piercing with my beautiful new earrings. Everyone who works here is always so sweet and accommodating. They take their time and answer all your questions. I’ve even communicated with them on Instagram and they get back to me very quickly. You can tell they care about their clients and the products they sell. I always look forward to coming and shopping at Gem. I’ve even done an online purchase and it was fast and easy. My only regret is that I can’t buy one of everything whenever I go!

I've been shopping with GEM since 2000, so that's says it all! Laura is a fantastic designer, business owner, and person. If you're looking for affordable, high-quality, custom jewelry for all types and occasions, you need not look further. Whatever you buy here you will love - or share the love - they will love it too!

I have been shopping at Gem for 10 years, and I always find something! I have a few pairs of earrings that I rotate out and wear on a daily basis as well as a few pairs of fancier earrings, too. They have a great mixture of high-end pieces as well as more affordable options, too. They are also one of the few jewelery stores to do permanent bracelets, which look so beautiful, and I've gotten a few of those, too. Fairly recently, they moved locations and also opened a home goods store that sells art, kitchen items, decor, and even crystals! This is my favorite store in Oak Park and the staff are truly welcoming, kind, knowledgeable, and very interested in their customers' lives!

I ordered an earring set from GEM and fell in love! They were so unique and incredible quality, I knew I wanted to order more. When I talked with customer service about an out of stock set, they custom ordered it for me. They were extremely nice and helpful. They were quick to respond and the earrings came quickly. Very happy and can't wait to shop there again!

Noticed this cute jewelry boutique for the first time today and figured it must be new, but the woman working there told me it's been open for 2 years. That's what i love about this area- just when I think I"ve found every great store in the area I seem to discover another one... While diamonds are a girl's best friend sometimes it's fun to add some gems to the jewelry wardrobe and this is the place to do it! They carry approximately 22 different jewelry designers here so there is something from everyone! I picked up a few earrings and necklaces that caught my eye and the prices ranged from $70- $300. Not bad for high quality looking jewelry! Definitely a good spot to do some shopping this holiday season (hint hint- there was a pair of dark green hanging earrings that would look pretty fabulous in my ears).

Spent two weeks deciding if we should purchase a $9000 diamond ring from Point No Point. After chatting with the designer, visiting their stockists in San Francisco, flying to Seattle where more of her work is sold, and weeks of deliberation, my fiance finally purchases my dream ring off Point No Point's website. We were so happy and excited that we were finally able to find a ring perfect for us only to get a message from Point No Point the next day saying this store had SOLD THE RING OVER THE WEEKEND and failed to notify Point No Point so they could take it off their website. Zero stars for a jewelry store that doesn't think ahead about their partners and their customers. I'm honestly shocked they thought it would be okay to sell a one of a kind ring and not notify the artist so other customers wouldn't be disappointed with tears and heartache in what should have been a happy moment. Honestly cannot understand how someone can run a business without any foresight whatsoever. What. A. Joke.

I bought an opal ring from GEM a while back as a gift for myself. Since they didn't have my size in store, the staff ordered me the correct size and were extremely friendly and helpful in the process. When it arrived, I stopped by the store and picked it up without really taking the time to carefully examine it. When I got home, I realized the opal was almost half the size of the opal I had tried on in the store. I went back and brought it to the attention of the staff. They examined it and without any hesitation, quickly offered to contact the designer to fix the problem, no questions asked. Within a couple days later, I got another call and was elated to see that the ring was now exactly as I had remembered it when I first tried it on. The staff went above and beyond to get me the correct style I was looking for and called me throughout the process to keep me informed. I would 100% recommend checking GEM out! I know I will definitely be back and cannot thank their staff enough for their help!

While I'm a fellow local small business owner, I present more like the grimy mechanic I am -- blackened fingernails, dirty work clothes, etc. But I've always been handled appreciatively by the kind and interested people who work here. The pieces, by the way, are amazing-- the kind of stuff you see in weird, esoteric magazines, but can never track down when you're actually looking for it. Gem is a gem.

I bought my wedding rings here. They are beautiful and unique. The consultant who helped us really took the time to understand my design taste. I have purchased many pieces from Gem since.

Ugh!!!!!!! I need some extra Benjamins because there are at least 3 vintage diamond rings that fit me perfectly, that are gorgeous, that REALLY really wanted to go home with me. Besides the sparkling dazzlers there are also a number of "home" things that are just as exciting. I personally have 3 of their Grappa bottles and am wondering if I need more?!? This visit I procured a hand forged iron bottle opener and wine opener. If you are stumped for a present for someone- this would be THE place to get a unique thoughtful gift. Ohhh and the sales women are always just a delight.

My fiancee and I bought our wedding rings here and had a great experience. Even though I had to send mine back (due to my error), Laura and staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a great experience and I'd recommend it highly!

My girlfriend took me here because it's her favorite store. I think she wants presents from here. I really liked the store - they have a lot of unique and beautiful jewelry. I could tell they chose quality pieces. The sales associates were really friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place for bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and things for the home.

I have been a long time fan of this place. Many do not know, but it started in Oak Park, before moving to Wicker Park. Laura is awesome, as is the staff. They have such unique jewelry pieces that match my style. I can't get enough! Plus they make special orders for you! I suggest the slither ring...

My husband bought earring from here. The earrings did not have backings. When I went into the store for backings, they didn't have any that fit. They gave me store credit that the owner told me would not have a time limit. After multiple visits trying to redeem the credit, I finally found something that I liked and wasn't damaged. The owner refused to redeem the store credit because "they changed systems."

This place is so cute and has a really nice selection. The salespeople are really helpful. I think it was the owner, but whoever it was was so genuinely nice that I will always stop here first for presents, etc. Sometimes it is the people that really make the difference.

I love the selection here! It is a small space but they have some really interesting pieces and although this is elegant jewelry the prices aren't too absurd. They have a great sale right now, too... The people at the store are always really nice but never pushy which is so rare for a jewelry boutique. Worth the trip to Wicker Park!

I've bought more gifts here than any other single store in Chicago. Laura the owner is so helpful she always seems to know what I'm looking for. My husband and I bought our wedding bands here which turned out to be super easy and very cost effective. I also bought my wedding earrings here, a drop pearl with a diamond, so beautiful! The selections are always very diverse as well which is awesome for gift giving- something for everyone!!

I've never really cared for jewelry stores, but this place is AWESOME. They have a completely unique selection of causal to fine jewelry and housewares. Stuff you won't see anywhere else. It is a little on the pricier side, but again, you are getting high quality unique items. I love to browse this store, and frequently I find things I can't live without. Stock changes all the time. Also good customer service.

I've never been much of a jewelry wearer, but this may change after buying a glass locket at GEM and seeing all the unique pieces in the store. I've seen lots of hand made jewelry before, but what I like about the pieces in this store is that most have a casual feel, yet they can also dress up your wardrobe. And they have a new and old feel at the same time. If this isn't making sense, all I can say is that you have to see for yourself. Most pieces in the shop are made by Laura, the owner, but she also includes pieces by other artisans. Great place for gifts and treats for yourself!

The pieces here are entirely unique and so pretty. If you don't want the same diamond pendant that thousands of other women are wearing, this is your jewelry store. There's also a good range of price points - something for everyone. I want to buy everything there when I visit.

My fiancé and I got our wedding bands here and were really happy with the selection and customer service. I am very, very excited about my ring- I love that it's one of a kind (vintage, the owner had just picked it up in her travels) and slightly non-traditional but still has diamonds. I'd strongly recommend going here rather than the more standard diamond jewelry shops along Wabash! Plus, Wicker Park/Bucktown is a great area to wander.

My fiance and I went engagement ring shopping together at Gem. The consultant (I forget her name!) was very helpful. What I thought would take hours, as I'm very indecisive, turned out to be a fun and easy process! They have some really unique and affordable bridal options (most are handcrafted, with some vintage thrown in the mix). I ended up with a simple, delicate white gold ring with leaf engravings, very me! I love it! I'm excited to return here for our bands! Thanks, Gem :)

This is where I go to find high-quality and unique jewelry. I've purchased a necklace, a ring, and two pairs of earrings from Gem Jewelry, and I love their distinctiveness and craftsmanship. Some of the pieces are crafted by the owner, but she also includes pieces from other designers in her shop, including some local (Chicago area) designers. In terms of price, there's definitely a range to be found here. I'm glad I stumbled in here the first time because Gem also does make some gorgeous, custom jewelry, including rings. It's hard to justify shopping somewhere else for jewelry when you get everything, plus a very personal experience here.

I went to the location in Wicker Park when it was still open. I got an absolutely GORGEOUS white agate ring there for a good price. It's beautiful. I wear it often and get compliments on it every time I wear it.

I received a Christmas gift from my out of town sister. She bought it from Gems. I needed to return it so I checked their web site and made the 45 min. trip to find they were closed. When I told the manager this she said they did more business on facebook. That didn't do me any good. The 2nd time I came in, it was during a snowstorm but "the return within 10 days after Xmas" window was running out. Even though I had their receipt they would only give me store credit. I didn't find anything and was very disappointed that they couldn't just credit my sister's acct. or pay me in cash. They were unable to work with me at all. It's like once they have your money, they're not giving it back. Just be careful if you buy from them, their policies are not customer friendly!

Beautiful jewelry! A little pricey, but for that special gift this is the place to go!!
