I went here to get my hair cut and styled for prom, and the people here were super nice. It turned out exactly how I wanted it, and prom was wonderful. The silver is a spray on thing so thats why it looks a tad funky, I'm sure their dye jobs are just as amazing.

I’ve been seeing Tammy at Gem Salon for several years now, and I can’t imagine trusting anyone else with my hair! They've taken me from platinum blonde to brunette to my current pink and brown combo — and every single time, the color turns out absolutely stunning. Their hair cuts are always flawless and make me feel so confident. Beyond their incredible skills, they're just so much fun to be around. We always have the best conversations, and I leave the salon feeling refreshed and absolutely amazing. They also gives me amazing product and styling advice, so I can actually recreate the look at home (or at least get close!). I love Gem Salon as a whole too — from start to finish, the experience is welcoming, relaxing, and full of great energy. The salon vibe is modern and chic, and they carry fantastic products that really work. If you’re looking for a stylist who is talented, creative, and genuinely cares about her clients, I can’t recommend Tammy enough!

Gem Salon is a very welcoming space. The staff is kind and I was offered a beverage upon arrival. There were also free buttons in the waiting area, one said "hair has no gender" and of course I took one! I'd been bouncing around hair salons for a while trying to find a good fit. I saw Tammy and had a wonderful experience and left with an amazing new haircut that fit the exact vibe I was going for. Tammy is genuine, kind, and extremely talented. They listened to my frustrations with previous stylists and perfectly understood how uncomfortable I was feeling with my hair. I showed them some reference photos but was nervous about a cut shorter than I'd ever had before. Tammy was reassuring, and understood the assignment. I left with a fabulous gender affirming haircut that I absolutely love! I also learned a lot about my hair and how to style it. It's such a relief to find a salon that's a safe space where I'm seen and understood. 10/10 recommend.

I got my first haircut by Abigail, I loved the experience as I wasn’t able to cut my hair as a younger kid. So I would just cut it myself. But being able to go to the salon and have it professionally cut really brings out that confidence and self care I’ve been wanting. The service itself was great. I felt really welcome there and relax by the environment of the salon. Abigail really listened and brought out what I have in mind for my hair. Definitely looking for my next appointment.

I received over 10 compliments during the shoot—not just from the producer, but also from the photographer and other models! I felt like an America’s Next Top Model winner. She’s an absolute pro! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fae Fae gave me my first-ever salon experience, and it was nothing short of a dream come true! She did a cut with bangs, gloss, and toner, and she perfected my Pinterest board vision. She took the time to deeply discuss every detail, and the result was beyond my expectations. I’m obsessed with my new look—over 30 Instagram messages and 100+ likes later, I feel like a whole new person. She made me look like Sabrina Carpenter, and I couldn’t be happier!

There’s nothing better than leaving the salon feeling more like yourself. For every compliment I’m given on my blonde coloring, I’d be able to buy a private jet. Thanks to Tammy, I’m always walking away confident because of her impeccable application, drive for continued education, and unending tenacity to keeping creativity in her craft. I’m a tough sell when it comes to someone doing my color but I can’t say enough good things about Tammy - a true hair colorist goddess who I wouldn't be myself without!

I received a text from the owner, Molly, the morning of my appointment letting me know the person who was scheduled to do my hair was out sick. Normally, I would have just rescheduled, but this day was my anniversary, so I really was hoping to look my best and asked if there was someone else who could color my hair. Molly was able to get me in with Fae last minute! When I walked into the salon, the young lady at the front desk checked me in quickly and was very nice. I met with Fae, we went over what I was looking to do and she gave me some great suggestions as well. Fae did an AMAZING job! I have never felt so beautiful leaving a salon before. Fae is super sweet, bubbly, and very talented! This will be my new salon going forward! Extra points: for those of you who are a POC, I felt very welcomed at GEM. 💎❤️ 10/10 would highly recommend!

This was my first time here at Gem. The staff was very friendly and the environment was calm and relaxing - enough for my boyfriend to take a nap in the lobby. Abagail was so informative about the cut and style that would best suit my hair texture. Despite how talkative I was, she was super kind, friendly, and got the cut done in a timely manner. I was expecting to pay way more than what I ended up paying which is always great! I would definitely make a trip back here.

I just went in for a haircut with Abagail and I couldn't be happier! I'm from out of town and desperately needed a cut on a short notice and I lucked out big time stumbling on Abagail. She was super nice and attentive and had a magical touch!! . She gave me the exact haircut I wanted and made it look even better than in the picture I showed her. She is very delicate with hair and scalp and almost made it feel like a massage. It was incredible! She was friendly and able to keep a nice, stress free conversation but also gave me my space when I needed to check on work texts and emails. The front desk staff was also lovely and kind and the space was bright, sunny, beautifully designed and comfortable. Really enjoyed my first experience here for a haircut with Christopher! He was very knowledgeable in hair and it turned out great. He also made me a wonderful cup of coffee :) Loved the products they used as well. Bright space with big windows and lots of plants. Online booking was easy and there were plenty of appt times to choose from. I'll be back!

Unique salon experience. I highly recommend booking with Kat. She went above and beyond my expectations and really listened to my description of the color I wanted. After visiting gem, I felt inspired and in love with my fresh color. I will definitely book again with Kat!

You'll get hair worth paying for with a visit to 526. I'm not one to shell out for getting my hair done for special occasions. I have had friends do a satisfactory job of styling for formal events, and I'm not too shabby with making my hair look decent on other days. But recently I needed my hair to look swanky in an updo and STAT! The staff at 526 squeezed me in at the last minute and took my baby fine strands into a chic updo that even I was happy with. My friends oohed and aahed over how beautiful it looked, and even I was pretty impressed at how full and elegant my coiffure was after 526 got ahold of it. Pricey, but definitely worth it given the occasion I was attending. I did my own makeup, but the work they did on my friends was elegant, tasteful, and lasted a full day, crazy dancing at the end of the night included. Very nice neighborhood salon which is also an art gallery in the back with various events going on. Made an appointment with Vanessa to have my hair cut. She was very nice and did a great job. She was sucessful with the vision of what I wanted and turned it in to a pleasing end result. Would certainly go back for a haircut and other services. It's close, convenient and friendly.

The people who were there the last time I reviewed are no longer there. I said I wanted a consultation I got one with two young women who told me they could do everything that I wanted. When we actually had the appointment they were nice it seemed fun but my hair did not look good. Where I had asked for silver streaks I got washed out blond. The red honestly just looked dingy. the person who is cutting my hair started to use a razor. I have curly hair if you use a razor you're going to frizz my hair. I still at this point have a frizzy point in the back of my hair where I said wait stop are using a razor. The worst part about this is it was over $200 to get a bad haircut and a bad dye. I hate the gym salon is not the place that I love to go, I hate they have changed their quality this much. I would not recommend you go there ever.

Markus did it again. Gave me such a wonderful mani-pedi. Love my summer French nails, with just a hint of sparkle here and there. So happy and grateful to be pampered here.

Despite the fact that I live in SW Mpls, I love coming here for my hair appointments! First off, Natalie is amazing. She does a great job of listening to what I need, understanding the complexities of my hair, and executing a haircut that I LOVE. The salon overall is also lovely! It's a beautiful space, they throw fun events, and it has a designated parking lot (score!!). Their online scheduling tool is really easy to use, and they carry great product lines (but aren't pushy about them). Honestly, one of the best things about Gem is that Revival is across the street! I always try to make a day of it when I have a hair appointment, enjoying a delicious solo lunch or dinner across the street after getting a fresh cut.

I don't even want to write a review because then people will be swarming for "my" Kristal. I've been coming here for years. Kristal is the BEST. Good price for color and cut. Kristal knows color and style trends. She also knows which colors will look best on you. They offer coffee, tea, water and wine, loads of great magazines, trendy look to the decor.

Just wanted to share my experiences with the Manager (Tammy Beggs) of the salon, which was absolutely TERRIBLE. I would have given 0 stars if at all possible. The below is a select number of concerns I have had with this salon, including ongoing lying, not providing necessary information and very low standards of practice (not trying to be complete but just give you a sense of what type of people run this place): - When booking our massages (x2) we clearly indicated and asked if the massages were reimbursable by insurance after which we received a full YES. I requested a receipt at the time and received a copy excluding relevant information - I have called and emailed the hotel and Tammy Beggs numerous times to try obtain something as simple as a professional code and/or therapist name - to date (3 months post using the services) I have still not received complete information. The hotel has also not helped in fixing this dispute. - Tammy Beggs is extremely unprofessional when spoken to (doubt any kind of formal education) i.e. communication is repeated numerous times and still does not make sense, extremely rude, sighs on the phone when asked questions, etc. - For one therapist a NHPC number was provided, that, according to my insurance provider, was fictitious. She is not actually registered after research done by my insurance and they literally wrote me that they do not provide payment for salons that are not in good standing (which is what they rank Gemstone Spa following their investigation and lack of truth). I have had numerous massages across AB and BC and never had an insurance company provide me this feedback before. I can go on but will stop here, hopefully to make some potential users of the spa aware of the awful customer services by Tammy. Hopefully no-one else has to experience this!

I came here on a whim last Saturday desperately needing a haircut. I was fortunate enough to get an appointment with Natalie. She was attentive, confident, and listened to every word I said. She knew what to do with my thick and wavy hair, as she has thick hair herself. I absolutely love my haircut and it's super easy to style many ways. It's not one of those haircut styles that only looks good curled. She really worked with the natural texture and shape of my hair, which is so important as I wear my hair natural a lot of the time. I'll definitely be back. Great experience .

Searched for a salon that could do a blowout and curls for my hair. After the appointment my curls went back straight and didn't stay. Felt like my hair stylist just put on a bunch of hair products. I loved the atmosphere of the place. Just dissatisfied with the styling of my hair.

I've been searching and searching the twin cities metro for a new hair stylist after my previous one moved to the other side of the country :( I've literally been trying a new place every few months for the past year and a half. I've been to places in Uptown, in Wayzata, in Edina, in St. Paul. I've paid a lot of money and barley any money. And then, finally, I tried Fivetwosix. I called for an appointment and explained my situation (I had very long hair and was looking to get almost 10 inches taken off) and the receptionist recommended Greta. The actual salon is in a great location and has a really cool vibe and decor. I was offered water, tea, or coffee as I waited in the comfortable waiting room. After Greta picked me up she even offered me wine! It was a weekday and I had homework to do later that night so I declined, but I will definitely keep that in mind for future visits! Greta did a GREAT job with my hair. She explained what she was doing and made sure I was comfortable with it and was willing to talk with me beforehand about what I wanted and went over everything and really made me feel like we were on the same page. She was also very sweet and talkative which was nice because I'm sometimes a little shy, but I hate awkward silence haircuts! After my cut she styled my hair for me and even took the extra time to show me a few ways I could wear my hair in a ponytail while still making it look cute! I had told her i was always putting it up while at school and at work. As a plus, FIVETWOSIX has Bumble and Bumble products, which are my favorite! Greta also made some great product recommendations for getting the look I wanted for my hair and even showed me how to use it in my hair during the styling. Overall, my experience here was top-notch. I re-booked an appointment right away and I will definitely continue to do so! Greta was so awesome and her prices are so reasonable, i felt like I was getting such a good deal!

I am confused, did no one else get free wine AND a free full-sized Bumble and Bumble product their first visit!? Surely, you would have noted this, too! I came to Fivetwosix via a referral. My friend said, " they have wine, free products and a $25 haircut." Need I say more? I walked in and was greeted by front desk members and my stylist! Hang on...they greet you and take your coat and you don't need to waste time hanging around while they run behind? Liking this more! the space was very clean and the atmosphere was sophisticated chic. My stylist, Greta, did a great consult and walked me through exactly how much she was going to take off and also asked a few other mindful questions. Great cut and blow-dry and she did a great job of walking me through the products she was using. When she came to style it, she asked me how I wanted it done. I guess I have been so used to people jut doing what they felt they should, that it was a welcomed surprise to actually be asked how I wanted my hair to look when I walked out (which is kind of a bummer when you think about it!) All in all, great experience. I will be back!

I've had two haircuts here by "Jennifer" and two or three underarm waxes at this place since this past spring. I've also browsed in their art gallery in back two different times and talked with "Steven" on both those visits. What a cool place! I like the cuts and attention from Jennifer, the waxes, and I 'lust' after a certain handmade silk wrap for much more than I can afford to spend at this point in time.

What turns a good day into a great day? A good hair day. I made an impromptu appointment at FIVETWOSIX after noticing the place during a lunch outing at Cheeky Monkey across the street. I made an appointment an afternoon that I was in a bit of a time crunch - between work and a dinner date. I was pleasantly greeted upon arrival and was immediately taken by the trendy (without trying too hard) ambiance. Angela, my stylist, picked me up from the waiting area and brought me over to her chair. I'm always a little apprehensive when trying a new stylist- what if they don't know enough about my hair? But Angela was clearly a pro. We spent a few minutes discussing the type of cut that I desired (assisted by the photos I brought along), but then things got intimate. She asked me a series of questions about my hair type, styling, prep time and products. "Let's talk about hair baby, let's talk about you and me..." The sink stations were very comfortable and you're offered a scalp massage during the conditioner- just what I needed to unwind. I was then offered a glass of wine (squeal!!!!). A hair cut and a glass of wine? My experience just kept getting better. I got a cut that I LOVED and Angela narrated how to use the products to achieve my desired style as she blow dried and curled. You know its a great haircut when you can recreate the styling yourself at home and you're complimented on your new look for a week straight. I'd highly recommend FIVETWOSIX and Angela to anyone shopping for a new salon. And just in case you're not convinced, did I mention that they offer you a complimentary full sized Bumble & Bumble product at the end of your first visit?

I've been going to Fivetwosix Salon for about a year now, and have worked with both Jennifer (stylist) and Alicia (esthetician) and have found them both to be superb. The business is well run, the front desk folks are efficient and as attentive as can be expected with so much else going on, and the space is hip and trendy (if that matters to you). I was not outrageously impressed by their reflexologist, though I have only done a single session so far. It was a perfectly competent session and all, just didn't wow me. Parking is never a problem on the side streets and I have never had to walk more than a block or two.

Bryan Rahn = Amazeballs He knew exactly what to do when I told him what I wanted to achieve (growing my hair out) while helping me keep my edgy style (growing out from a fauxhawk). He listens. He has an artistic eye. He is a sweetheart and professional. I'll be returning here for some more Bryan!

This place is awesome. I brought my mom in for a moisture treatment and blow dry. Not only did they creat beautiful soft hair, they went the extra mile to trim her bangs and make her look like a million bucks! It was such a joy seeing my mom so unexpectedly happy. Thank you to the stylist who took care of my mom on 8/11/18!!

Natalie was AMAZING!! She knew exactly what I wanted and worked MAGIC on my hair Ive been looking for years trying to find a hairstylist that I can trust and I found her super down to earth and the salon is so cute!

I came in for a facial 9-14-18. From the moment I walked in I experienced great customer service. The treatment room was so pretty and relaxing. They had a heated bed and whatever the aroma in the room was, was enough to just make you go to your happy place. Briana had a fantastic touch and had great knowledge of what was going to be good for my skin. To top it off.... I LOVED the skin care line. Seriously I don't even have words for how amazing my skin looked and felt. I am kicking myself that I didn't take a before picture because the results have been great. I will be back to see Briana and have told everyone I know to go see her as well.

When I just moved to twin cities. I did my hair color here. It was a very terrible experience. The hair stylist did two clients at the same time. Which my hair was totally ruined. I will never ever come back.

I have been going to Brian for at least 5 years. He knows what he is doing. After about a year he finally talked me into the style that was best for my face type. Nothing but compliments ever since. He's a fun nice guy that knows hair. This is conveniently located on Selby, close to good restaurants.

I've been going here for almost five years now and I love it. Vanessa is great. The whole staff is consistent, non-pretentious. They seem to love their work and appreciate the environment surrounding them. The gallery is a bit hidden but they do host great events occasionally. It's relaxing, beautiful, and I truly enjoy everything about the experience.

I have been going here for waxing services for years. I used to see Alicia before she moved out of the Twin Cities, but now I have been going to Amanda and really like her. She does a great job and helps me feel comfortable. The private rooms are really nice and provide a relaxing environment, even during an uncomfortable procedure. It's not hard to find street parking within a few blocks of the salon.

I've found my cut n color person so I can't comment on those services here, but I love that they carry Bumble + bumble products and I've had the chance to try out a massage with Amy Jo and a facial and waxing with Amanda. They were both very friendly and skilled technicians, and the spa space in back is nicely appointed. I can't believe that the salon has been around for 20+ years, apparently in the same location! I look forward to my next body treat here.

Came to a wedding in MN from LA to and was staying close to this salon. Tara does great blowouts! I was promptly seated on time and even got a free product for my first time. Loved the way it looked afterwards. Go see Tara if you need a great blowout!

I buzzed my head a few months ago (no, not a Britney moment - just a slightly too spur-of-the-moment decision), and I thought I should try to tame the dandelion fuzz into a presentable hairdo before a wedding this weekend. It was my first trip here, and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Brooke did a great job making it look like a purposeful short haircut. AND, yes, the icing on the cake was the free Bumble and Bumble smoothing cream at the end. Love it. Just what I needed to justify spending $35 to get 1/8th of an inch off.

BRIAN!!!!! HOLY MOLY! Awesome. Went in for a simple blow out and it was anything but! The shampoo was like nothing else I have ever experienced, it was amazing. My blow dry is still bouncy and beautiful hours after playing with it. The salon was under construction and I still felt like I was in heaven. Brian knows what's up, great service all around.

This salon is phenomenal! Period. I have been to over 5 salons in the past year around the twin cities and seen multiple stylists and have been unhappy with every one. I tracked down Amir because he did my hair a few years ago and no one has compared since. He cuts my hair exactly they way I want, even when I don't know what I want. I'm getting married in a week and came with hair that needed incredible attention. The colors were so messed up from other stylists trying to do something different. Amir completely changed my hair and got it back to the the natural color and tones!!!! I'm thrilled. NOTHING has compared to the service and personal attention that is given at FIVETWOSIX and by Amir. This salon is so generous in the attention given to their clients and I feel very taken care of. PLEASE don't take your business anywhere else... you will be so happy and will never change salons again. AMIR is what makes this place incredible. He gives careful attention to every detail I want and always asks questions and clarifies everything before moving forward. I can't say enough how happy I am with Amir at FIVETWOSIX. COME HERE!!!

I can't count how many times I have explained to stylists that I need a low maintenance style and gotten the opposite. Mark REALLY understood what I was saying and gave me probably the best haircut of my life. I am so happy with my experience there, and my hair is so gorgeous (and totally what I wanted.) Five stars for sure.

My regular stylist who I love and see for color is in Minneapolis, today I needed pampering and wanted to just drop in somewhere for an experience - that place happened to be Fivetwosix near my office on Grand. Desiree Juaire, stylist, had an opening so I went with her. Lovely person, easy to talk to, warm, down to earth and gave me the attention I so needed. In addition, she washed, trimmed & styled my hair beautifully. She took her time, the price was reasonable.....I will see her again.

I moved to Saint Paul a little over a year ago and came to salon 526 to see Bryan on the recommendation of a friend. I've seen Bryan consistently over the past year for cut and color and he's never disappointed me. I'm admittedly not a hair-fashion fanatic and generally have no idea what I'm looking for or talking about but somehow Bryan always knows what to do! The staff is always nice and the atmosphere is always enjoyable.

I love love love 526 Salon! My stylist Angela is wonderful! She always makes me feel comfortable and confident every time I sit in her chair. I have NEVER walked away unsatisfied with her services! I would recommend her to anyone and everyone, she is great with thick and thin hair. Go see her you won't be disappointing!

i've been going to this solan for the last 5 years! when my first stylist stopped working here i didn't want to go but my mom took me once more to see if i would like another stylist that did her hair. her name is Natalie and she is my favorite hair stylist ever! i will never go anywhere else as long as i live if possible. they have great service and make you feel comfortable, which is very important when your a kid. have the difficult hair that i have they made it seem like their job was easy! it was exactly how i wanted it and it looked amazing and made me feel more comfortable in my own skin! love this salon!

My stylist of 7 years recently mover to NY and as much as I was happy for her I was out a my long time hairstylist and friend. After reading some reviews on yelp I decided I would try out Five Two SiX and I was sooooo extremely pleased. I saw Amir. He is hands down the most amazing stylist ever. Not only was he very friendly but he listened to everything I said and especially being a bit nervous I talked a lot! He gave me the best haircut I have ever had. He is truly talented. I am excited to go back to see him for my color! Thanks Amir!

Absolutely the BEST place! I have thick curly hair so i get nervous trying new places, was time for a change and Bryan is the BEST! gave me fabulous blowout after cutting my hair. Never going anywhere else.. great atmosphere, best scalp massage during shampoo, and overall great hair styling!

My first time here was probably in 2005 or 2006 when I was sixteen years old. My red curly hair had frequently being massacred by the weird cheap places my mom would take me as a kid, so this was the first big girl appointment I made on my own. Ten years later I still come back. This was the first good haircut I ever got. The stylists kind of come and go so I can't recommend anyone in particular however I've never had a bad cut. The building is awesome and really beautiful inside. They have the art gallery aspect and the facility is just very clean and hip. I feel like they do a good job of training and hiring so you can't really go wrong. I also love that they use bumble &bumble. I definitely recommend coming here for a great haircut.

I have been to this salon three times. My first time going to the salon, I did a ton of investigating online. Reading reviews from multiple sights and doing extensive research of the stylists on the website. I finally settled on making an appointment with one of the stylist (don't remember her name). Got a decent haircut and my free product and walked out happy. Because I donate my hair every few years and don't color my hair, I don't get haircuts more than once every 3-6 months. When I went to return to the same stylist 3 month later, she was no longer at the salon. I did my research again and decide to give another stylist a try and made an appointment with Greta. She did a great job, informing me of products she was using and suggesting different things I could do to change up my hair day-to-day. When going to leave I was wanting to purchase one of the products and was told it was sold out, but the front desk would take my name and number and call me when a new shipment came in. Never heard anything. I made a second appointment with Greta in July. Again a good cut and again she used the same product I was looking to purchase the previous time. I mentioned how I had requested for it be held for me the last time I was in and Greta apologized and said she would check to see if they had it in stock this time. Of course they did not and I was asked if I wanted to give my number and she would be SURE they would call me right when it came in. I didn't hold my breath (and good thing) because 4 months later and have never heard a word. I called Friday to make an appointment with Greta (her cuts were fine and just figured I would skip purchasing any products) to find out she is no longer at the salon. Went to look on their website....she is still listed as a stylist and it looks like their number of stylist has been reduced from over 20 (last January) to about 6 (currently). The front desk staff, who failed to ever contact me when their shipment of products came in, is still the same. I just don't understand what is going on at this place. I wanted to stick with it, but can't bring myself to find another stylist I like, just to have them gone in another 3 months. Also if there is a demand for a certain product that you are consistently sold out of, is it time to up your order quantity or else have stylist stop using products that the salon doesn't have in stock??

I came in today to get my boring hair chopped off to something shorter. I didn't really know what I wanted, but I showed Bryan some photo ideas, attempted to describe what I thought I wanted, and he did an absolutely stunning job. Definitely worth the trek from Minneapolis to St. Paul to go here. Amazing!

I found this place by reading reviews on Yelp when looking for a new salon. Just wanted to say I never got a complimentary product like the people were saying you got for being a new customer. :( Anyway, Ali did my cut and highlights and my hair looks great. She is a very nice person with a good attitude. The place is pricey, but worth it. And the shop was clean and nicely decorated. I would go back and recommend Ali to anyone who wants color and a cut.

Angie does the most amazing work on my hair. Her expertise in color ensures I receive consistent results every time. And I absolutely love her blowouts. I walk out of her salon feeling and looking like a million bucks. Highly recommend this salon and specifically seeing Angela E.
