We had the loveliest brunch here on our trip over from London. Luis is the friendliest, most genuine man and really made our day. Food was delicious and well presented.

Came here first time with my daughter for brunch. Loved everything! The food is fantastic, the service was great, even absolutely horrible weather causing a waiting on food didn’t spoil the experience. Will definitely be back. Thank you very much chefs and everyone FOH!

Absolutely delicious soup and toasted sourdough with real butter, lovely staff, very helpful with our needs. Would recommend a visit.

This is a great spot to come for brunch. It is a bit compact inside, but they are maximising space as it is always busy. The inside has been extended so they just need to keep shelter seating for dog owners. The cost of food is slightly on the higher side. I enjoyed getting the Benny, but it appears to no longer be on the menu.

Google
Fantastic food across the board, can get very busy but quiet around 3pm most days (except the weekend)

Specialty coffee is a world that grows more every day throughout the world, due to its selected products and the origins of its beans, here is one of the best to visit, the staff is very friendly and prepared for the art of good coffee. great locations. My sincerest congratulations on your achievement. keep going. I'll be back for sure

Google
By far one of the best eateries for Breakfast or Brunch anywhere hands down. Breakfasts were unbelievable! It not my first GM but it was the rest of the familys. If your a lover of coffee their flat white is a must. We also couldn't leave without sampling some of the buns.

Yelp
General Merchant is good at making the sort of coffee that I'm happy to drink without milk. They are also good at avocado dishes, providing more of it on toast than some others do. Today I had a veggy burger plus the optional fries. Burger appeared to contain curry spices but not overwhelmingly so. Altogether tasty and there was even some avocado in the bun. As an omnivore, I'm conscious, though, of the different levels of structural integrity between meat and veggy patties - the latter are probably best left bunless and eaten with cutlery. It saves burying my face in the plate. For a sweet, I had the custard tart. This had much more custard in it than some others that I've had but perhaps a little too sweet.

Yelp
Really loving this place. Such a nice atmosphere. Been here a few times with friends and family for breakfast and lunch. The food is amazing and the coffee is even better. It is probably one of the most hipster looking places in County Down. The only down side is, because it's so popular, they could do with a bit more seating. There isn't enough of it. We have queued for 30+ minutes to have breakfast in here. But that is that really a downside? I don't know. Really looking forward to trying out the sister coffee shop/restaurant, The Merchant's Daughter in Belfast. If this place is anything to go by, it's gonna be pretty damn good!

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time a few days ago and was very impressed. I had the salmon teriyaki with broccoli & diced sweet potato cubes, full of flavour. Then treated myself to one of the raspberry & white chocolate mini cakes - sooo good! Washed this down with a Flat White coffee. Will definitely be back:)

Yelp
Went to General Merchants this morning for Brunch. It is much improved from it's opening in the Summer which can only be expressed as chaos and not in a good way. I had a dish from their 'Specials' it would hard to describe. Except to say that it was amongst the nicest breakfasts that i have ever tasted. For good measure we were seated next to Ulster coach Less Kiss so I was treated to a little insider info on today's game **First class**

Yelp
A friend recommended this cafe so I decided to give it a go one weekday evening. The cafe is situated on the Upper Newtownards Rd close to Stormont. It's modern with an Australian influence. The evening menu had about 6 options but each one was really different and there should be something to suit everyone. I ordered the choripan, which was a chorizo hot dog served with salted chili skinny fries. The food was perfectly cooked and very well presented. For dessert there was a banoffee waffle or you could choose from their mini cakes and pastries displayed at the counter. On viewing these I couldn't resist the white chocolate and raspberry cake. The cake was flavoursome with speckles of dried raspberry throughout and topped with a raspberry and white chocolate buttercream & white chocolate decoration. The only thing that I could fault the place for was that when we were seated we were not informed of any of the evening specials and only realised there were some when another group arrived and sat beside us and I overhead a different server list the specials off to them. This was after we had already ordered and was disappointing as some of the specials sounded great. Unfortunately the seat we were sat in did not have a view of the specials menu on the wall so it might be better if they provided a printed menu or ensure anyone at this table is informed of them by the staff. Prices are reasonable and you can also BYO.

Yelp
Went to General Merchants today for the first time. . We came as a party of 6 and we got seated pretty quickly, which I was surprised about, as it was packed!! I really loved the old fashioned decor and design. They have a small but fantastic looking menu, after some deliberation, I decided to go for the Sloppy Joe. One point to note at this stage is that one of our party is vegetarian and she found choices quite limited. In the end, they amended one of the salads for her. Food arrived quickly and my meal was fantastic, it didn't look big but I was stuffed! I also got a slice of carrot cake to go, and it too was beautiful. One small complaint I had was the fact that the server started teaching over people to clear away the plates of some of us who had finished, while others were still eating their food, and this made them feel rushed. All in a good experience and I would definitely go back!

Yelp
Always busy. Except 8 am. Lol Good thing they open so early. Love the chilled environment. This place is based on Australia. Food is lush. Great tray bakes and breakfast. This is one of my fave places.

Yelp
I'll preface this by saying I probably went here at the wrong time of day, because even though we showed up around 12, the menu was just generally a breakfast menu, with a few brunch items. I'd seen the food that was offered on their social media channels, which was why I wanted to go here in the first place. We went and nothing really caught our eye on the menu, it seemed extremely expensive for what was actually available (I mean a bagel for £7.50?), so opted to go for a special of tomato, coconut milk, chilli and saffron yoghurt soup, which came with some sourdough toast. The soup took quite a while to arrive, and when it did it was plopped down on the table, with an awful puddle of oil on top of it. It tasted like tomato soup, with a bit of spice, but the other ingredients were otherwise completely superfluous, especially the big squirt of olive oil which just played havoc with my stomach. The coffee (a golden latte) however was really really nice, and definitely something I'd recommend. All in all, for 2 soups, 2 extra bits of toast, 2 coffees and a cappuccino, it was just over £18, so not exactly great value. I'll definitely be back to give it a second chance when a different menu is on offer (oh about the menus, fix them online. Put them on your website, put them on your FB page, put them on Twitter, even if they change regularly).

Yelp
Can i go back now?? This is probably one of my favourite places to go for breakfast/lunch. Love the relaxed environment and the quirky menu. All staff members are so friendly and helpful! Prices can seem a bit expensive at times but it is one of those places where i am willing to pay a bit extra than usual cause the food is just SO good!! (Portion sizes are also good)

Yelp
Finally a coffee shop which gets the balance right. The coffee in GM is great, they do filter as well as the usual Americano / Latte. The staff are very friendly, there's plenty of seating and the outdoor area is great. The food is absolutely top notch. There's plenty of properly robust feeds on the menu, a double burger, choripan and the likes, and the desserts are great too. Thankfully they don't fall into the trap of throwing in bizarre ingredients just to be fancy. The food here is on par with any restaurant. Can't fault this place at all.

Yelp
I recently went here with my wife & four friends and we had an absolutely delicious brunch sitting outside and we enjoyed a selection from the menu: from corn fritters to the green goddess to the breakfast manwich (a bun with bacon, black & white pudding, Ballymaloe relish & fried egg) were all so very yummmmm!! This is a really cool place to go with really friendly staff, a great menu selection & freshly filtered coffee (or whatever other hot beverage you'd like) and I can't wait to get back & try something else, next time in Belfast.

Yelp
Had heard some great reviews about this place so decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed as the food was really top notch. Service was a little slow but the place was full so we can forgive that. A really enjoyable lunch at affordable prices. We will be back.

Yelp
I had lunch here mid week with a family member. Great healthy, interesting menu I had the the delicious beetroot rosti, whipped goat's cheese on rustic ciabatta and thouroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I will be back!

Yelp
Very friendly staff and great food... Not a huge a menu but everything on it is excellent. Gets very busy and you might need to wait for a table. You can also get takeaway coffees, sweets etc. Worth going to! Best coffee in Belfast!

Yelp
Only been for breakfast but it's nice with a lot of options on the menu. Coffee is great and they have fresh squeezed orange juice. They will allow you to pick and choose from the menu and you can basically make your own breakfast witch is great. They do only seem to have two types of bread sourdough and veta witch isn't ideal. There are specials on the weekend that they advertise on the black board they sound delicious but I have unfortunately never been in early enough to get them as they have sold out. These do seem to sell out by about 11 on Saturdays and there is a good chance you will have to wait to be seated as it will be busy.
