"If you’re the type who likes to look rugged and urban at the same time, General Quarters has you covered. Owner Blair Lucio channels his appreciation for Americana in this small shop that stocks heritage brands such as Red Wing Heritage, Filson and Tellason. Beyond the strong selection of beloved labels, the shop – which first opened in LA in 2010 – is a welcoming place. Quite often you’ll find that Lucio himself is on hand to greet shoppers."

Great shop with even better employees. Spend your money here. They know their products and they’re more than happy to help. The General Quarters blanks are my new favorites. Highly recommend the heavy weight shirts. I went back for more. Plus they carry a bunch of great other brands. Feels good spending money with these guys!

Growing up in a small business it’s in my DNA to support those around me. I came in on Saturday looking for some tees and the owner helped me out and shared about the tees, the business and how general quarters has been doing over the last few years. If you like good, quality, durable clothing you need to shop at General Quarters. Everything from cut and sew tees in LA to selvedge denim. Seriously, get to General Quarters and buy quality clothes.

Had such a great experience dropping by here on Black Friday. These guys are really passionate about what they do, and it shows.

Stopped in for the first time while in town. The owner was knowledgeable; giving me recs on where to check out next and shops to check out back home. Left with a couple nice pieces. I’ll be back for sure.

First visit to the store. Very nice collection with good variety. Everything in the store exudes quality. Received useful guidance from Blair on fit and sizing. Wish more stores like this existed. Looking forward to our next visit.

Love this store! Super cool vibe and the owner Blair is very personable. Ordered a custom sized ring from them and they finished it and sent it within two business days. Their jewelry is amazing and very unique.

Thus place is remarkable; a cut above the rest. The clothes are top notch. The owner and his vision are what I love in a store today. Great space, products and owner. Thank you.

Google
General Quarters is a wonderfully curated menswear store which is without exception, my go-to place for new denim, pants and shirts. Blair and Miguel are always on good form, and have great style and recommendations about the brands they carry. I'm a huge fan of Rogue Territory and GQCA carries the range with plenty of stock and I've never called in without leaving with something indigo!

Yelp
A friend brought me here shopping on the weekend. located right on La Brea avenue, we decided to go shopping and then stop for some lunch at Burgers 99. it was great day. I hadn't heard of the shop before visiting, and we went because there was a sale. They apparently had some water damage in January and just had opened back up... and wanted to release some of the damaged and unfinished clothes for discounted prices. First I need to mention that the management and owner were standing outside and greeting everyone, chatting with them. I heard the full story of how this place came about, and the struggles they went through during covid and the rain. Just a great group of people running the shop and you really root for them to succeed. I bought two t-shirts, a sweatshirt and a hat. It has become my favorite pieces of clothing. The shirts are comfortable but thick material, and don't hug you in an unflattering way. They fit so well. I will definitely come back once they have a new round of inventory to check out their stuff.

Peter S.

Yelp
Great selection of high quality clothes at reasonable prices. The guys there are super friendly and very knowledgeable. My favorite items are the t-shirts but they also have great jewelry and other cool random stuff. Definitely a must-stop store when shopping on La Brea.

Yelp
This is hands down the best shop in LA. Now, I'm not a Los Angeles native, but the service that Blair, Miguel and team provide from their warm welcome to their uncanny ability to make you feel at ease are incredible. Come to this shop and not only feel like a local neighbor and friend, but be treated like one and become one. Their curated goods all high value and high quality will be staples in your wardrobe for years. With classic American design they've done an unbelievable job for more than a decade and it will always be a stop I make when I come to town.

Ryan C.

Yelp
Walked in today for the first time and their reputation is well deserved. Chris picked out some great pieces, offered strong insights and in general was a pleasure to deal with. They curate an incredible selection of brands and make you feel at ease throughout the experience.

Matthew B.

Yelp
Super expensive and completely not worth it. Foolish buyers w far too much money to burn. I live in both Los Angeles and Palm Springs. Your prices are incredible and ridiculous.

Jimmy Z.

Yelp
I think if I was really clear headed and thought up a store with all the things I liked, there is no way I could do it better than General Quarters. I also really like the vibe of this place. Everyone I have met in store or dealt with through the web interface has been super professional and cool. Next level customer service. High quality products. 100% recommended. 12/5 stars.

Ella R.

Yelp
My most favorite t-shirts I've ever bought! Come here every time I'm in LA. Owner is super kind as well. Love it.

Josh T.

Yelp
Hands down, my favorite shop in LA. If you want high-quality, well-made products, along with top notch customer service, then look no further -- GQ is your spot. Blair, Miguel, and the rest of the team always make you feel right at home. If you want cheap, trend pieces that will be out of style in a couple months, this is not the spot. They have something for everyone here, but no matter what, all the pieces are timeless. Prices are well worth the quality and worth the shopping experience. Support local business, shop General Quarters!

Sade W.

Yelp
General Quarters is a bad-ass men's clothing store. Done. Oh wait? You want me to elaborate? Hmmm.. First of all, you can tell that the owner, Blair, has a hell of an eye for interior design. The store is a minimalist-meets-WWII-industrial feast for the eyes. It fills you with nostalgia, and a longing for men to dress even remotely as well as they did back then. The clothing has an effortless cool, and is priced so reasonably, it caught me by surprise. Lastly, do NOT leave without buying one of the candles located at the register. I can't remember EXACTLY what it's called, but the burgundy label is what EVERY man should smell like, in a perfect world. Le sigh.

Stephen G.

Yelp
General Quarters is an incredible store with next level customer service. I asked about a hat they had custom made with Ebbets Field a year back. Miguel told me that they would be doing another run of it, that he would email me and set one aside for me. Months later, I get an email from Miguel, as promised. You deserve to shop at a dope shop with real people. You are a boss Miguel!

Travis A.

Yelp
I'll take one of everything please! Great gear, great design. Love this spot!

Andrew C.

Yelp
One of my favorite stores in Los Angeles, I have been shopping there since they pretty much opened! Blair and his team are incredible! They take the customer experience to the next level.on top of that their curated selection of heritage clothing is the best in LA! Do your self a favor and check it out!!

Yelp
Are you into aviation are just plain nostalgia? is the store for you. The store specializes in rugged men's clothing and airplane nostalgia. It's a place to buy clothes to show off to friends that your better a doing stuff then them.

Jin K.

Yelp
Awesome shop. I picked up a couple pairs of chinos and they are my favorite pants. Everyone in the store was super knowledgeable. It's too bad that LA weather prevents them from wearing 90% of the jackets.

Jovi A.

Yelp
Always a supporter of General Quarters. They make you feel at home and part of the crew every time.

Katie B.

Yelp
Gents, stop shopping at Urban Outfitters and man up to some real threads. As a lady, I would appreciate any lad that took the time to enhance his wardrobe by including pieces from General Quarters. It has that old Americana, nautical, I-ride-a-vintage-motorcycle-on-the-weekends feel and that is down right sexy. As others have mentioned, Blair is also worth a nod. A genuinely friendly guy that will shoot the shit with you about anything and not make you feel like a burden to his day for popping in, browsing, and leaving with absolutely nothing!

Hanley B.

Yelp
I came in here to get my hair cut but on the way out I ended up talking to Blair for probably about 30 minutes. Super cool guy. We talked about style, brands, denim, and, most importantly, motorcycles. I really like what he has done with the store. He cares a lot about the products he sells and the quality of them. This isn't a place where you'll walk in and have a billion brands and styles. It's more curated and hand selected. The store is geared toward the more rugged urban look which I like. Unfortunately, my current finances don't allow me to spend the money I'd like to at General Quarters but the great thing is, I never felt pressured in any way to make a purchase. Blair just shot-the-shit with me and it was never an issue. When I do get some disposable income, General Quarters can count on me to be a customer.

Nathan C.

Yelp
I came into General Quarters for the first time in June at the suggestion of a friend. I was looking for a gnarly pair of boots and he told me General Quarters sold Chippewa's and that I should check them out. On walking in the store I was immediately impressed! The layout and design of the store is unique and just absolutely bad ass! They have a barber, sell amazing bags and luggage, and the quality and style of their clothes is phenomenal! One of the employees, Miguel, greeted me and helped me to locate the boots section and figure out sizes. I found a pair of 6" Renegade Service boots that I immediately fell in love with, the problem? I have freakishly small feet and the lowest size they had was a 7 1/2. Miguel took me to the counter and I met Blair, the owner. Blair informed me that they could order me a pair of 7's and they'd be in the store within 2 weeks. Sold! A few weeks role by and I don't hear anything. I give them a call and Miguel informs me that there was a hiccup with the sales rep but that the boots had been ordered. No problem. A few more weeks roll by and I don't hear anything. I decide to go to the store and see what's up. I meet Brian, another employee in the store. Brian immediately gives Blair a call. They inform me that the order actually got canceled because there were no size 7's in the 6" Renegade Service Boots and Blair had requested them to custom make me a pair. What?! He and Brian apologized for the lack of communication and offered me a discount if I wanted to buy anything that day. What?! To sum it up a a few weeks later the boots come in and Miguel lets me know they're in. I come in to get them and Brian's in the shop. He tells me that Blair wants to throw an additional discount on the boots for all the trouble. What?! This is hands down the best customer service experience I have ever had in my life. Blair, Brian and Miguel went far beyond the norm to make sure that I was a happy and satisfied customer. General Quarters is officially my favorite store to go to in Los Angeles. Keep it up guys. I'm a fan!

Darin J.

Yelp
Can't add anything else since most of the reviewers pretty much nailed it. This is a pretty cool place for guys. If you're like me, who dislikes shopping, and want to find a store with the most clear-cut options, this is THE place! Blair, the owner, is super chill and approachable. The most important aspect of this place is that he wants the shoppers to feel comfortable, whether they are just browsing or purchasing an item. I didn't get that annoying and jumpy vibe I get from lots of sales rep when I enter a store. Blair actually strikes a normal convo with you. A+ already from the start. I went to the other vintage place across the street, hoping to find some nice and reasonably priced vintage clothing -- I was dead wrong. General Quarters is definitely reasonably priced for the quality and style of clothing. I really loved the plaid shirts there and would've bought a couple if I didn't have to budget tightly for the month. There's some really cool books about style, culture, and LA to look at as well. The store seemed to be going under some renovations in the back, but Blair is doing well for both himself and the customer's shopping environment. I also loved that there was no loud ass music playing in the store. Again, don't come here and expect a HUGE selection of everything. Instead, expect what you REALLY need! I appreciate this store for its simplicity. Oh, and it's for guys only...sorry, girls! Size of clothing is also very accurate. Parking is pretty easy since I never struggle to find street parking on La Brea, anyway. I believe there is a back private lot which I totally missed. I'll definitely be stopping by every once in awhile when I have the extra cash to grab those plaid shirts in the near future!!

Peter K.

Yelp
This is what a men's clothing store should be like. Simple, stylish and just plain friggin' cool. Motorcycles, airplanes, ruggedness abounds...the clothes are quality, with incredible fit and you can see a new outfit laid out in front of your eyes with out all the distractions of normal stores. I like that there is not too much selection...because it's been picked out FOR YOU. You walk in..and walk out knowing that you have just purchased a quality product that has a perfect fit with just the right amount of style. And Blair the owner: Really cool guy. Down to earth, helpful, with a great fashion sense. My Fiancee and I went in the other day, and were amazed that someone would take a risk to open up a small clothing store directly across from AMERICAN RAG...but ya know what, after thinking about it a bit, I realized...this dude is smart!: General Quarters is everything American Rag is not. And that's a good thing. Every time I walk into American Rag, I am overwhelmed at the selection....It gives be a friggin' brain fart...and ultimately, I walk out of there with nothing...In contrast, you walk in to General Quarters, you see some bad ass shirts, pants...well made that fit well..and you walk out of there with a few pieces that will fill the holes in your wardrobe....THAT and in these times, it just feels damn good to support the small independent retailers no? I'm a fan. And I highly recommend this store. Can't wait to see what other inventory they will be bringing in within the next few weeks. Hint: more shoes? :) I wish you the best Blair. You have cojones and I support you.

Christopher Y.

Yelp
In an area of town saturated with over-the-top, douchey label boutiques, and insanely overpriced (and ugly) vintage, General Quarters is like a breath of fresh air -- like walking into the perfectly curated closet of JFK or James Dean and being allowed the option to have whatever you want. Blair, the store's owner, hand-picks everything here and is awesome at both conversing and creating a pleasurable shopping experience. I also like this place because I walk in there and I feel like it's telling a story. With its homage to motorcycles, trucks, Native Americans, the easy California lifestyle and disheveled 'pure prep perfection," the atmosphere romanticizes the quintessential American male, the type you'd see captured perfectly in a sepia vintage photograph, sitting barefoot on a coastline in chinos and an oxford shirt. Hands down the best store for in LA for classic, well-priced, quality men's clothes.

Darren M.

Yelp
Great product, fair prices, on trend but timeless...glad I went.

Matthew G.

Yelp
General quarters is a rare breed; a small shop with a curated selection and (wait for it) an owner/staff that really seem to care about their customers! Every time I come in I end up leaving with nothing but incense or soap, but they carry all of my favorite brands: Imogene + willie, rogue territory, apolis, and their own house brand, which is above and beyond most stores' crap-quality garments with their name plastered across the front. The vibe is vintage-yet-modern; think HBT work shirts, sturdy chinos, and raw denim, with some grooming products thrown in. If you shop at self edge, blue in green, RRL, etc. you'll find something to like. This is not throwback miner gear, it's the quality of old with contemporary flair. The best part of the shop, and the aspect that seals the deal for me, is that all I've ever bought are small (but delicious-smelling) items from GQ. And yet, not once was I made to feel like I was wasting the staff's time. Blair, who I believe is the owner, is the nicest guy, and came off as extremely genuine. He reminds me a bit of a less self-effacing Paul Rudd. In this day and age, I can buy almost anything I want from the comfort of my computer chair, so when I spend the extra time and money to shop in person, I'll be doing it at places like general quarters.

Jeff K.

Yelp
awesome little shop on La Brea that carries some offbeat brands, but a lot of nice stuff. I came because I heard good things about Rogue Territory jeans. I tried a few pairs on and they were super comfy with just the right amount of tapered slimness at the calf. Definitely would recommend these jeans despite the hefty price tag. I think I'll definitely make this one of my regular spots for denim since the quality of Rogue Territory is on point and the employees are very helpful and very knowledgeable about their stuff. Another plus is that they can alter jeans at $10 a pair. I'll definitely be back once I break these jeans in a bit and decided how much to trim off the length since they're 36" lengthwise.

Kazu T.

Yelp
It's not often that I walk into a men's boutique clothing shop and I like everything about it. The clothes are great, the service is awesome and the prices aren't overwhelming. The owner Blair knows his stuff, and is always happy to share his knowledge about the products he sells. He even designs and makes some of the stuff in the store! I really don't know the specific name for the type of style General Quarters specializes in. My interpretaion would be California Chic with a vintage twist; comfortable clothes that can be worn going out to dinner or riding your bike at the beach. Maybe I'm completely off, but it is just my view of it anyway. If you are in a shopping mood and tired of overwhelming department stores and stuffy, overpriced boutiques, G Quarters is a great alternative.

david s.

Yelp
I love when I find a store my price range that matches my style... or even help define it, hah. Not that it's cheap but you don't feel ripped off, and for quality and coolness its a great balance. I needed to throw away some (most) of my shirts and get a bunch of new ones. Normally I have to shop around for a while, here, there... love that :( this place rocks, unpretentious and easy. 5 stars.

Scott L.

Yelp
A girlfriend of mine that's a stylist recommended this place. I've shopped here a number of times now. It's great for shirts, pants, sweaters, and even accessories. It's not too trendy. It's just ...well.... damn cool. Cool in the Steve McQueen sense of the word. From the hand picked clothing lines he carries to the deliberate decor of the place, you can tell the owner takes pride in the store. And the best part of General Quarters? It's affordable! If you're looking for "men's" clothing, this place is definitely worth checking out.

Jake M.

Yelp
Awesome. By far lived up to the expectation. The guy helping us (owner?) was so rad and helpful and GENUINE. Fantastic experience.

Parada O.

Yelp
This is probably my husband's favorite menswear store in LA. We live in San Diego, but go up to LA often to visit my sister, eat, and shop. After grabbing some delicious food at the Sycamore Kitchen across the street, shopping (and walking the food off) is the natural progression of things. My hubby has purchased mostly shirts (he prefers to buy jeans at Self Edge), which are, of course, of impeccable quality and workmanship. Service is also reflective of the high quality products that they offer. It's a spot not be missed for your classy, simple man.

Greg T.

Yelp
One of my favorite shops in LA! Very cool and friendly staff. Not a huge shop with tons of brands, rather the owner Blar has put together a well curated shop with a very specific gent in mind, himself! Not a bad thing since he has good tastes. Denim + Workwear + (the great outdoors ÷ by LA) = General Quarters.

Wayne G.

Yelp
General Quarters has perfectly curated items that are stylish, well made, and down right cool. Handwritten receipts?! DONE. I'd give this a 100 star review if I could. Anywhere they sell rogue territory is alright in my book. I'm from Texas and was in Dana Point for work. I made the 1hr + drive and it was worth it! Although I arrived 20 min prior to closing time the staff was down to earth and is willing to help with any questions. I left with a tee and a GQCA tote bag. The barbershop in the back is an amazing touch.

Josh P.

Yelp
Simply the best. One of my favorite stores anywhere in the world. Great selection, amazing customer service, awesome aesthetic. Blair will take care of you. Get your haircut here. Chrissy Phelan is the only person I trust to cut my hair. Bottom line: you'll look better after you take a trip to this store.

Harry S.

Yelp
There's not much to say after all these reviews about how General Quarters and Blair is AWESOME. I even got to meet Brian and he was also excellent at striking up a conversation. This store made my day and that made me proud to be getting my jeans from them. Second time I went back to get my jeans, I was compelled to get a lanyard too. Everyone there is extremely helpful. Go there, man up, buy something. No regrets.

Danny O.

Yelp
Enjoy coming here and checking out their high quality, casual, clean, curated clothes. If you're into the outdoors and rugged look, this place is it. The owner, Blair is an overall nice guy; very friendly, down to earth, and personal.

Padraig D.

Yelp
The one stop shop for all menswear needs. Visiting LA for the week and decided to stop here for a rogue territory supply jacket. Pleasant atmosphere with helpful staff made for an awesome shopping experience. I would highly recommend to anyone in LA looking for high end men's fashion.

Edward S.

Yelp
General Quarters is a wonderfully curated menswear store which is without exception, my go-to place for new denim, pants and shirts. Blair and Miguel are always on good form, and have great style and recommendations about the brands they carry. I'm a huge fan of Rogue Territory and GQCA carries the range with plenty of stock and I've never called in without leaving with something indigo!

Joseph E.

Yelp
I came here to find some U.S. made clothes for the spring. I'm trying to spend as much of my money on domestic products as possible. Nearly all of their products are locally sourced or, at least, U.S. made. I bought two pairs of chinos and some Gant shirts. All reasonably priced, about $100 each give or take $20. The salesman (I'm sorry I forgot your name!) was very helpful. He helped me try on 15 or so articles. I appreciate it when you can get honest feedback, especially when shopping alone. I'm happy with all of my purchases and would recommend this place as a first stop on a shopping spree. Tip: If you go during rush hours (4-7) park in the garage on the corner of second street.

Colin P.

Yelp
I imagine in a perfect utopian world, every store would be like General Quarters, however that's not the case. Walking into the shop for the first time I knew immediately this was something special. Years later I continue to shop there on a regular basis and am proud to call Blair and the guys friends. If you are a guy and you've never really felt like you had a go-to clothing store or never really owned clothing that you've ever felt good about, I have great news... General Quarters exists.

Barrett M.

Yelp
This is my favorite store in LA. Blair's style is cool and effortless, and he's incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I walk in here planning to buy one thing, then always end up with three or four....

Wilfredo M.

Yelp
Love this store. Best way to describe this store is quality and not quantity. The owner of the store is super nice and really has a passion for putting together a quality store with quality products in it.

Sean G.

Yelp
This place is amazing! The clothes were awesome and reasonably priced, the owner was great she took the time to help me pick out several outfits. I do a lot of shopping in this area and I must say this is my new favorite store

John R.

Yelp
Fantastic shopping experience. Everything is hand picked, priced right and Blair is a delight to buy from.

william c.

Yelp
This place has great stuff and awesome service. They'll even send jeans to the tailor for 10 bucks. Highly recommend.

Jeremy W.

Yelp
Awesome selection, great and friendly service, decent prices. Great selection of denim and Red Wings. Really pleasant shopping experience.

Bjorn K.

Yelp
From perfect gifts to perfect things for yourself, General Quarters has you covered. I love this place and the owner is the down to earth and the general atmosphere of the shop makes a visit here worth it for that alone.

Michelle Y.

Yelp
so, we strolled in here one day since we were in the neighborhood with no intention to purchase anything but it's impossible not to! everything here is carefully selected to fit the aesthetic of the store. i love the t-shirts they carry and purchased a few to wear (my boyfriend and i fight over the shirts we bought). everything is reasonably priced considering the shirts we bought were only 40 each. I call that a good shopping day! There's also a little barber shop in the back but the girl is always busy so it's recommended you call in advance.

Irene M.

Yelp
Amazing...great selection of clothing and very friendly staff! I was shopping for a gift for my boyfriend and it was easy to find a quality piece in this store. If you are in the area check it out. I would say it is a little pricey (but I am a college student). If you have the funds many of the pieces here are GREAT investments for your wardrobe.

Maurice M.

Yelp
Blair and his store associate Miguel are awesome! The selection at General Quarters is wonderfully curated and Blair makes his customers feel welcomed. I was happy to stop by and learn the store's history while perusing its merchandise.

Brian G.

Yelp
Excellent shopping experience. A very thoughtful selection of items and accessories by Blair to a backdrop of fantastic photography and understated artwork. The southern california heritage feel is spot on. Certainly look forwarding to returning and purchasing more items.
