"How did it strike you on arrival?While your mind understands that this is a hostel, it can’t quite reconcile that fact with how nice it all is. Generator is design led, but the design is ‘fun’, with Chesterfields, and patterned tile floors at reception, and a really cool bar with lime green stools, Chinese lanterns, decent food, and a perpetually upbeat atmosphere. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Double rooms in hostels are often terrible fudges, just a piece of plasterboard between you and the dorm, but Generator doesn’t cut any corners. Each has a private bathroom, a desk and a plenty of storage space for clothes, not to mention some nice design touches—ours was an odd picture and slightly strange hanging lamp on a very long cable. Best of all, they’re quiet. No dorm rowdiness at 2 a.m. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The bed is a bit firm, but there’s nothing wrong with that, though the pillows could have had a bit more life in them. You’ll need two if you like to keep your head up high. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Having a private bathroom in a hostel is a luxury anyway, so finding out it’s spotlessly clean, and the walk-in shower has some vim to it, is incredible. Towels are great, bathrobes non-existent. There are no products either, so bring your own. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Free Wi-Fi, and it’s nice and quick. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The bar is very cool indeed, and serves a nice mix of cocktails. Even better, you get a complimentary shot just for staying here. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?This is the nicest hostel we’ve ever stayed at, and for €40 a night it puts a lot of mid-budget hotels to shame. Bottom line: worth it, and why?Clean, friendly, quiet, and comfortable. These are all words you don’t normally use to describe hostels, and yet they all apply to Generator. Remarkable."

So I’ll start with the good and then move onto the bad. The lobby decor was very pleasant as was the bar, the staff were friendly and attentive when we required any assistance. That was it for the good points, unfortunately. Now, for the bad. We paid for early check in to our double room with en suite; which unfortunately wasn’t delivered. We arrived at 12 and our room was not available for 45 minutes after this time so it was a bit of a waste of money. The room was incredibly dusty, the floor had crumbs and hair everywhere and there was dirt leftover by the previous residents, alongside what can only be described as rubble (?) in the corners near the bed. When we attempted to use the bathroom for the first time I had to clean through the shower and around the toilet myself, the shower head and taps were covered in wet hair and it seemed as if not much had been done to prepare if for the next guests. Furthermore, the double bed we had actually was two single mattresses put together, the bedding didn’t fit properly so whenever we went into the bed, both mattresses parted and it made it incredibly difficult to sleep. The bedding itself also was covered in yellow sweat stains, of course I appreciate this is hard to get out, but it doesn’t look nice at all. The bedside tables are made of a metal wire, they aren’t good for storing items, yes there is a desk in the room but when things keep falling on the floor when trying to sleep, it’s a bit of a pain. Thanks to the staff for their kindness, but we won’t be booking again.

no doubt to booked in this affordable hostel. its perfectly place for us because the place is perfectly amazing. specially the staff very approciable and helpful. rooms are very clean and i feel secured and the most importanting is i feel relax and comfortable.. definetely well recommended.||||thank you generator rome

I had a wonderful stay at this hostel in Rome! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made a huge difference in my experience. The cleanliness of the hostel exceeded my expectations; everything was regularly maintained and spotless. The location is fantastic, just a short walk from the train station, making it easy to explore the city on foot. I was able to visit all the major attractions without any hassle. The hostel itself was very comfortable, providing a great atmosphere for relaxation after a day of sightseeing. Surrounding the hostel, there are plenty of restaurants and shops, so you can find everything you need nearby. The Colosseum is just a 15-20 minute walk away, which is an added bonus. If I return to Rome, I would definitely choose to stay here again. My only suggestion would be to consider offering meals without an extra charge. However, this is just a minor point, as I found myself eager to explore the amazing Italian cuisine outside the hostel rather than eating in. Looking forward to my next visit!

This hostel is one of the best in Rome. The staff were very amiable, approachable and helpful. Specifically, Kirby and Rachel assisted me very well when I arrived hours earlier than my check-in time. They also guided me with all my needs - gave me tips and advices on how to move around Rome and let me borrow flat iron and a luggage cart to move my stuff. I also appreciated Francis for helping me carry my luggage. These people are such a blessing to maintain the excellent service in Generator Rome. If there is only one comment I would give, I think it is to repair the lock in one of the toilets in room 610. Other than that, everything was awesome. Thank you so much to the staff and management for a great experience! ❤️

We booked a private room with a bathroom. We stayed for 4 nights. The room had humidity stains and dirty walls. The bed was uncomfortable, with old pillows and a sagging mattress. I used Generator Venice in the past and I was impressed, that's why I booked Generator Rome. But the difference in service and room quality is unbelievable. Generator Rome's location is ok. The area is a little dodgy, but close to everything which is a big plus. However, due to the lack of comfort, cleanliness, and customer service, I cannot recommend this hostel in Rome, unfortunately.

Great Location, Friendly Staff, Bed Allocation Chaos Generator Rome is undoubtedly in a fantastic location, making it easy to explore the city. The hostel itself is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. However, I encountered significant issues with bed assignments. Not once, but twice, I was given a bed only to find it occupied. then my bed was assigned to someone while i was in it, This created unnecessary stress and inconvenience. It seems there’s a clear problem with the bed allocation system that needs to be addressed. My biggest disappointment was the paid bag storage. Given the hostel’s proximity to the train station, I assumed it would be a convenient option. However, paying extra for this service, especially after spending over 60 euros per night on the accommodation, felt unreasonable. While the location and staff were positives, the bed allocation chaos and paid bag storage seriously impacted my stay.

I was in a 6-bed room. Chambers and bathrooms were very clean. The bed were also very clean with a semi-platic tissue to ensure that the matresses stay clean. There is lockers under your bed that can use if you take a lock with you (otherwise I think they are selling some at reception). The people in my room were very polite, silent and mostly young in their 20s. Reception was also very nice and helpful when I had any questions. Wi-Fi is free and alright. One of the best things about this hotel is that it is very close to the colloseum (10-15min walk) and next to a very nice park. Biggest downside though was the neighbourhood that is a bit sketchy but I didn't feel threathened or anything, just don't stay too much around. Overall, nice/clean chambers and bathroom, amazing reception and close the collosseum despite the sketchy neighbourhood.

While I appreciated the friendly staff and convenient location, I was disappointed with some aspects of the facilities, particularly the bathroom and the room’s ventilation and air conditioning. Bathroom Quality: The bathroom was not up to the expected standards. I noticed that it lacked proper locking mechanism, and the fixtures were in poor condition. Ventilation: The room I stayed in had inadequate ventilation. The air felt stuffy and stale, which made the room uncomfortable, especially at night. Proper ventilation is important for ensuring a pleasant and healthy environment, and I believe this is an area that needs improvement. Air Conditioning: The air conditioning in the room was not functioning well. It was too weak to cool the room effectively, which disturbed my sleep. Considering the importance of a comfortable and restful stay, I hope this issue can be addressed. Overall, I think this hostel has great potential, but these issues with the bathroom, ventilation, and air conditioning significantly impacted my experience. I hope these concerns can be addressed for the comfort of future guests.
