Genting Cable Car Review: Flying Over the Jungle! ​Seriously, if you're going to Genting, taking the Awana Skyway cable car is a must-do. Don't skip it! It's so much better than driving up the mountain. ​Why It's Worth It ​The ride is super fast—it only takes about 10 minutes to reach the top. But the best part is the view. As you go up, the air gets cold and you look down right over the green jungle. When the fog rolls in, it feels like you're flying through the clouds—it’s honestly magical and amazing for photos. ​Quick tip: If you're feeling adventurous, try the glass-floor gondola! You can look straight down, which is a major thrill. If not, the standard car is totally fine and still has the best views. ​Pro-Tip for You ​Always buy your tickets online first! The queue for the ticket counter on weekends is insane. If you buy them on your phone, you just go straight to the line to get on the car. Easy peasy.

Genting Skyway is a wonderful experience with absolutely stunning, panoramic views all along the ride. Floating above the mountains and greenery makes the journey truly unforgettable. The price is very reasonable at 11 one way and 19 return. The only thing is that the cable cars could use some renovation to match the beauty of the views.

We visited the Genting Skyway cable car near Batang Kali, Kampung Sungai Sendat on 15 July 2024 with our full family — and it was truly unforgettable! The ride through the misty rainforest hills was peaceful and scenic, making it feel like a dream. 🌫️🌲 👶 Are Babies Allowed? YES! We had infants under 1 year old with us, and they were completely allowed and welcomed. The ride was smooth, safe, and stroller-friendly — no issues at all. Unintentionally tried this cable car as the Awana skyway is under maintenance during our visit. Buses departing to Awana sky way is diverted to this station during that period. Gondola ticket for Awana skyway will also usable for Gohtong Cable Car. For the station itself is old and less convenient. The elevator somehow is parking lot's elevator, not directly facing to service area. So we were quite confused, as there was no sign to direct us. No shop or food stalls available. If you want to go to Genting Premium Outlet, there is free shuttle bus, but it was every an hour or longer in certain period. Or you can hail a grab car. The gondola itself still maintained well. The view is more to the forest and mountain, compared to Awana that also offering city view ( but still a great view imo). Walking distance to Sky Avenue is quite lenghthy though :)

🚨🚨🚨SCAM ALERT🚨🚨🚨 Grab or taxi drivers try to reroute you here The grab driver tried to reroute us here instead of our correct destination. It is isolated and feels unsafe, and we were almost dropped in the middle of nowhere. They are very pushy and talk in other languages with the scammers waiting at the top about your eta and how many people you have with you. Luckily for me, I am multilingual. The reviews here are extremely misleading. Many appear to be Ai. Please double-check your route and do not agree to be dropped here if you didn’t request it. Tourists should be very cautious. Our driver for instance had a 4.9 rating on grab. Do NOT let your driver drop you here. Make them drive on their appropriate route.

Let me be honest. Jamie W and I were simply not fans of the two-hour Genting Highlands experience provided by the private car company we hired for our journey from Penang to Kuala Lumpur. This attraction is primarily for local Malaysian families looking for a Disney-meets-Vegas weekend of expensive frivolity. Yeah, that ain't us. This elevated gondola ride was part of the touristy shenanigans. It was just our luck that the skyway route was enshrouded in a thick mist of fog, and there was also a high winds alert. Kismet? Gee, I hope not. Sure enough, our full capacity cable car was swinging much to the chagrin of the young kiddies who were looking quite pale and nauseous. The one-way journey covered about 11,000 feet. That was substantially shorter than the 18,700-foot skyway we took just a few days later on Hong Kong's Lantau Island to get to the Big Buddha. Ironically this ride felt longer since they presumably slowed it down for the inclement weather. The ride back down the mountain seemed faster but not the wait for a cable car, which was significantly longer and 'Soylent Green'-level crowded. A round-trip ticket cost RM 19. We enjoyed the 15 mins inside the cable car on the way to the top. The queue wasn't long and we got right into the cable car. The cable car fits up to 4 people comfortably. The view was amazing both up and down. One way last about 15 minutes. We saw a long line had formed after we left from the bottom.

Resorts World Genting may be located at a high altitude, but it is actually easily accessible by various types of transportation, you can reach Genting with car, shuttle bus service, express bus, taxi and of course the most unconventional transportation to get there would be Skyway Cable Cars. The skyway operates daily from 7.30am to 12.00am, we reached the skyway station around 3pm and the queue was pretty long. Some unscrupulous foreign visitors cut queue way before us once they reached and caused a little tension. We queue about 30 minutes and finally get to our turn. Each cable car can only fill with maximum 8 passengers for safety reason and luggage is not advisable to take on too. Depending on the weather, it took us approximately 15 minutes to reach. It gets a little bit shaky at times but the journey was quite smooth. Do not get panic when the cable cars stop, it is just safely precaution to make sure a safe distance is keep between cable cars. The view was amazing but it was a bit stuffy inside the cable car. This ride is NOT SUITABLE for people with acrophobia and claustrophobia. Fun fact: Genting Skyway is a gondola lift connecting Gohtong Jaya and Resorts World Genting since 21 February 1997. Tips: For safety reasons, Genting Skyway would undergoes periodic maintenance. please do double check before to avoid disappointment. My first experience of taking cable car was to go to Genting with my family. It was quite exciting for me since I never take it before. Well, basically everyone who purchase bus tickets to Genting Highlands will have the chance to take cable cars from the bus station and also the cable car station nearby Gohtong Jaya. You may consider to put on your jacket only when you almost reach the peak. This is because the station at Gohtong Jaya is quite warm; while the station at Genting Highlands is the other way round. Especially during late evening and night, the entrance of cable car at Genting Highlands is the most cold place! The cable car is really slow and the surrounding is very very quiet. If you are taking it at the daytime, you can enjoy the beautiful view of Genting Highlands. However, if you are taking at nighttime, it is quite boring because you can only see darkness at outside unless you talk with people in the same cable car. Overall, it was a great experience for me. It wasn't a long journey but I enjoyed it a lot.

My very first time after 22 years old ride the cable car for going up to Genting Highland. From Gohtong Jaya to the Genting Highlands station, it cost us RM12 per person for a return ride. Its reasonable for me and it's a great experience for me and my friends. The ride takes about 11 minutes each way (3.38km) and each gondola can fit up to 8 pax. Loving the weather. i love to see the nature green tree because it's make me relax and soo calm. The weather was clear on our way up. Me and my friends enjoyed the scenery as well as waving to the passengers on other gondolas .heheh. We felt like gonna stay at the jungle. The funny part when we sing the Tarzan songs. It just memorable one when we were up there. But the things is i dont like the photographer, they force us and do the pose. i was like whuttt??? can you say please or anything? but then dont do that. Luckily when we going down and wanted to buy the tickets we don't have to queue up for a long time. ouh yeah they should has a safety guard or anything before something bad happen.

If you're taking a bus up to Genting, you'll have to take the cable car up. A slow cable car ride is always nice, unless you have a fear of heights. The cable car ride up to Genting allows you to see the forest below the hill. If you're lucky, you might even see a pig or some random animal running about. I saw a pig once and got all excited about it. There's one thing that frightens me every now and then, and that is the slight bumpy ride when it reaches one of the poles with the wires. The cable car doesn't stop, so when you see the platform out ahead, be ready to get off or you'll be on your way down to get back up again. But don't worry too much, there are workers there to let you know when to get on and off the cable car.
