For many years, I’ve been wanting a pair of gentle monster sunglasses. This was my one chance to finally get to experience the in store presence. Arriving there was a small line for they were limiting how many people were in the boutique. After a short wait, I was able to get in and they allowed you to try on all the pairs of sunglasses that you wanted. After taking a tour through the whole boutique, I chose the one pair that I was most attracted to. Once you pick the pair of sunglasses, you have to go up to an associate and tell them what you want . They will then hand you a slip of paper where you will bring it to the counter. Once you’re at the counter, the amazing associates were very friendly and custom fitted the glasses to my face. Thank you so much for a phenomenal experience .

Gentle Monster is a South Korean upscale Glasses store, specializing in Asian styles and more artistic frames. The store was decently busy when we visited, and the amount of frames is vast. Each store's concept is an immersive experience, with frames being placed on walls as well as artistic pieces being placed throughout the store, such as robots, automated water imagery, and other pieces spread. The staff were present, they didn't really approach unless asked but they were cleaning pairs of glasses and were available if needed. The frames are perfect for Asian faces. They matched pretty well for Asian styles as well, and were well worth coming to try on to see how they looked in person. The only downside is the price, as no piece was under $200, and some were close to $500. Overall, Gentle Monster is a great place to shop for glasses that suit Asian faces, but may turn you away with its high prices.

Worst return experience ever. The staff checked the sunglasses for quite a long time and said that there is a scratch. And she asked for a second opinion. Later she agreed to fully return the money to me. But what she said was "this time we will fully refund". So I clarified that if there is a scratch, then it was there when you sold to me. I definitely did not make a scratch just by trying them on in front of the mirror at home for a few minutes. (If it happened so, I would consider their product has poor quality.) She didn't respond directly, but repeating "This time we will fully refund". It sounds very passive aggressive to me. She also said that when she sold them to me, she checked as carefully as this time. The truth is that the time she spent checking on the glasses when she sold them to me was MUCH MUCH shorter than the time she spent when I returned them. This can be proved by checking their security camera. Very poor experience. The attitude of that female staff is terrible. Never going to this store again. (I had experience returning clothes to Reformation, and it was very very nice.)

Google
Poorest Experience at gentle monster , if I could give no stars I would. I’m writing to share my recent experience at your wooster store on , which unfortunately did not meet the level of service I expected. I’ve asked on few occasions only the simplest of questions or help with my frames but unfortunately there was nothing but unhelpful staff/ managers as well and incorrect information about a product policy. I understand that things can get busy, but the way the situation was handled left me feeling [frustrated/disappointed/ignored]. I value good customer service and hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future shoppers. I’d appreciate it if someone could look into this matter and get back to me regarding any steps being taken to address it.

If you buy from them, don’t expect to return it—even if it’s brand new and never worn. I used to be a loyal GM sunglasses customer until I bought my third pair. On the same day, I purchased a pair from GM but later found a more suitable one at Celine across the street. I decided to keep the Celine pair and return the GM one. When I brought back the brand new, completely unused sunglasses for a return, their manager told me I couldn’t return them because they had “dirt and scratches”—purely based on her personal judgment. During checkout, they adjust the frame and let you try them on, which naturally causes minimal contact with skin and hair. Does that count as “used” now? If you claim to be a high-end brand, then your customer service should reflect that standard as well.

I did not have a good experience at this store. I went here to get new glasses for practicality and every day use. When I was serviced by one of the retail workers (pink hair woman for employers reference) and I gave suggestions on what I was looking for I was disregard and the retail worker that was helping me didn't help me any further when I didn't like the first pair of glasses offered to me. They even helped another pair of customers while they continued to ignore me. The customer service was dis satisfactory and I don't recommend going here. They need better customer service if they want more customer loyalty.

Gentle Monster consistently wows me with their creative store concepts, and my initial encounter in South Korea set the stage for continued admiration. The NYC store, in particular, excelled in presenting the essence of Gentle Monster. The staff, not only kind and pleasant, went above and beyond in assisting my wife in selecting her new glasses, adding a touch of personalized service to the overall experience.

Google
The store has fantastic decoration. I love mix media arts, so they do the good job displaying. My friend told me that this brand is so popular especially for Asian and I totally agree. Influencer, Youtuber or window shopper probably love this store. I like some of their design and the rest maybe they aren't my cup of tea. The price is a bit above average but with the design I couldn't complain. I don't get any service because the staff either chit chat with each other or don't want to puch customers at all so I walked around, tried some sunglasses, they didn't even bother me. The score I gave them is for the display and design of glasses so that was it.

Yelp
Gentle Monster is a premium South Korean eyewear brand, renowned for its artistic frames tailored to Asian styles. The SoHo store provides an immersive experience, with frames displayed creatively alongside unique installations like robots, water-themed visuals, and other artistic elements that enhance the ambiance. Though busy, the staff were attentive but maintained a low-key presence, available for assistance while discreetly cleaning the eyewear. The frames themselves are designed to fit Asian face shapes well, making it an excellent place to try on styles in person. However, prices are on the higher end, with most frames ranging from $200 to nearly $500. Overall, Gentle Monster is a top choice for unique and well-fitting glasses, especially for those seeking Asian-inspired styles, but the prices may be a factor to consider.

Yelp
Great in-store experience! Very welcoming staff and customers can try on glasses with ease. Best retail experience in NYC!

Yelp
I rarely leave bad reviews but my experience here unfortunately sucked. Workers were unhelpful, didnt greet us when we walked through the door. Instead turned around, looked at us, and went back to their convo even tho I walked in with a smile and said "Hi!". My smile was easily wiped off my face. Furthermore when checking out, the cashier was a little rude when we were asking about the adjustments they offer, gave unwarranted attitude. Luckily its our last day in NYC and I can back to our home store where the workers treat us well and value our time lol. Pretty store though!

Yelp
Great service and selection. Fun exhibit with a large amount of their brand collaborations on display.

Yelp
Unique glasses and while nearly everything is out of stock to purchase, it's great you can come to gentlemen monster and try them all on before getting on the wait list. Feels part interactive museum art installation. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Great selection of glasses, transaction was smooth, and the in store experience was very unique (felt like a mini art installation!). Sales associates were accommodating but with less warmth compared to other stores in SoHo. A lot of people visit this store but good thing there was no line when we arrived, but there was already a line when we left.

Yelp
Love going to all the Gentle Monster stores in different cities to check out their decor and installations. New York location has a huge store that opens up in the back, and all the staff are so kind and helpful especially when providing opinions on what frames fit your face. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Arrived 10 mins before closing to purchase a specific pair of glasses and they wouldn't let me in. Said they were at capacity but 4 people inside and vacant-eyed sales associates who obviously couldn't care less about selling anything.

Moriah M.

Yelp
the staff here are very weird, very entitled, especially the eye doctor he was very unprofessional and very rude.

Yelp
I never ever write reviews, but this one's worth it Ever since the release of Jentle Salon, I've been to the pop up and flagship every single day haha. The regional retail experience manager, Jon, recognized me and took the time out of his busy schedule to chat with me each day. Honestly, one of the best experiences I've had. He's very attentive and answered the millions of questions I had. So funny - he cleaned my friend's glasses because he noticed they were smudged. Good laugh. He even reached back out to me when a pair of sold out sunglasses I wanted restocked. Super super kind man and I will totally visit the LA location when I'm in the area just to chat with him again. Also, wanted to mention the NJ/NY manager, Neil. He works with Jon, and I can truly tell how close the team is. Neil was super helpful and helped me and my 3 friends with our purchases with ease and efficiency. We also stood there and chatted for a while. Every time I walked in, he was quick to greet me. Both Jon and Neil made me feel like I was a part of the team (which I kind of want to join now) Thanks to both for the unforgettable experience! Love gentle monster and the team

Yelp
I love this place this is my only-sunglasses brand I owned. Service is excellent, the staffs there were nice and very helpful.

Yelp
I was excited to check this store out, it was beautiful inside. However, the employees here could not be less helpful if they tried.. they seem to treat their job like social hour. I was there for about 15 minutes and not a single person greeted me. Don't waste your time or money here, the quality is crap too. :/

Yelp
Came to visit New York during the Halloween weekend and I've been wanting to get a pair of sunglasses at GM. My friends and I had a fantastic time there, the gentlemen who helped us pick out our sunglasses was super fun and nice. Not sure what his name is but we took a photo together after! Also these sunglasses look super nice on Asian faces so I highly recommend!

Jay L.

Yelp
absolutely terrifying customer experience. Failed to receive return for defective product. Customer service representative Jackie Flores who claims to have no boss above her, is very unprofessional and condescending. She promises to accept return request over the phone and the day later changes her mind because I did not give "heads up" ahead. Anyone at GM reading this should make sure to listen to the recordings of the phone calls and emails that she sent to me and see how unprofessional and rude she is in trying to defend why she is being fickle. Absolutely ridiculous. I loved gentle monster and I was a loyal customer for 10 years. Now I absolutely hate the brand and everyone who works there because they have the most unprofessional team that I have ever encountered in any retail brand. I am sure she will say that she responded according to policy. If that is actually true, this brand should cease to exist giving how terrible their CS is.

Yelp
I bought sunglasses for my bf's birthday here, the store itself is very beautiful but 2 stars for the service. assistants are very rude and not talkative at all, felt like they own the store.

Yelp
I've been eyeing Gentle Monster sunglasses for quite some time now and decided to visit the store after an appointment in the area. I wasn't sure what to expect when going in, but it's basically like part store, part art gallery/museum. Very spacious layout, with futuristic looking displays in the centers of the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful - I was able to browse at my own pace and take my time trying on all the different styles, and when I finally decided on a pair, they were waiting for me at checkout. They're also able to tighten the glasses on the spot to fit your face specifically, which I thought was a nice touch. Prices are a bit high, but the glasses fit me very well and look great. Because they're a Korean company, I assume that the glasses are probably tailored more to fit Asian faces.

Yelp
I loved this place. I looked gentle monster sunglasses before and stopped by for bought sunglasses. Gentle monster brand sunglasses is great for everyone. Cheaper than other brands and higher quality than price. This place was bigger than you think, probably you think this place is small when you entrance. I like this place interior, pretty upscale interior also there workers were accommodating. Feel free to try every sunglasses what you want to try in

Yelp
I am obsessed with this place and this brand. Basically every single pair is cute and they are so unique!! I am going back next week to buy the "Six Bears" pair and am really looking forward to it! My best friend purchased a similar pair and she get compliments CONSTANTLY! The workers are so patient and so nice and were truly so helpful. It felt like we tried on over pair in the store and they were very knowledgable and made the experience even better. I love this brand and am so happy they have stores in America now!!

Yelp
1st time visit: requires appointment, didn't allow me in, fine 2nd time visit: I made an appointment but they changed my appointment to a 30 min earlier one without my confirmation? which ended up with when I came to the time I reserve, I was restricted to see selected/limited styles. No apologies at all. Feels like I'm begging for visiting amazing

Yelp
Believe me, they are rude "and snobbish" staffs thinking they are selling TomFord from another review, it is so true!! Been there couple of times, met some are nice BUT most of them are incredibly yeah rude and snobbish thinking they are top of the world, giving you I don't give a f** , their wording and attitude are soooo condescending and thinks they own this brand, I mean excuse me you are just a sales servicing other people, even tom ford and Hermes staff are more welcoming and professional. I would urge people to go online and purchase from there cuz there are more options (most of the pieces tend to sell out very quickly in that store where they are still available online especially BESTSELLING pieces!)
google avatar

Kristy C.

Yelp
The collection of sunglasses and glasses are made for Asian faces which is why I purchase from here. If you are having trouble with finding frames that work well on your Asian face I would give this brand a try. Took off a star because the salesman told me it would cost me $80 to get my lenses fitted into the frames I purchased at the store. He reassured me that even very bad vision (high index lenses) would also be $80. It was actually $160 for the lenses and somehow I feel like I was tricked. It's a little overpriced for what it is but would recommend for those who have a lot of trouble finding nice frames.

Yelp
Intrigued by the concept of an artistic interior design of this Korean imported sunglasses store, I dived right in early afternoon on a Saturday. The exterior appears minimalistic. Take one step in and you'll feel refreshed to find an open artistic studio- esque space. Large words, Gentle Monster greets you. In the center of the store lays all the sunglasses in what feels like a circular display. In the back, more artwork. Take your pick on the sunglasses. Priced moderately at around 200+ they exhibit various designs for the Asian face. If you're looking to experience more than shop, this is the store for you. The sales associates won't over you, but you'll always know where to find them. Maybe I'll come back to buy something.

Yelp
Came here on one sunny afternoon after roaming around soho. I was immediately attracted to the store front which faces Simone Rocha and conveniently a couple doors down from The Real Real. I've only recently heard of the brand so I was super excited to see a brick and mortar location. Walking in, I felt like I was at the Guggenheim, a living room version of course. I was immediately greeted with a smile and a welcome. I begin to roam around and trying on the glasses. I couldn't find what looked good on me but Louis there had so many recommendations. He was very helpful. I wish everyone was this helpful. The art installations are also beautiful. Definitely worth a trip just to see the interior.
google avatar

Annie N.

Yelp
While the stores in Seoul had more impressive art installations, this GM location had the best customer service of all the glasses shops I've ever been to! I always hate the prolonged silence and all the stares as you browse through and try on glasses, but the 2 male employees here were enthusiastically talking us through the designs, suggesting colors and styles we would've never thought could look good, but still knew when to give us our space. I am attracted to GM glasses not just for their unique frames, but they also fit so perfectly on my Asian nose bridge and all the ones I tried on were also really light! If glasses is something you have to wear daily like me, I'd definitely invest in a unique and well-fitting pair here!

Yelp
Got myself a pair of the dreamer01. Everyone needs that one pair of nice sunglasses and this is place to purchase them. They aren't cheap but it's worth every penny in my opinion. You can spot them on PSY's music videos. They have lots of funky yet cool sunglasses. I hope to in the future to get a pair of the funkier ones but for now, still loving my dreamers.

Ryan R.

Yelp
I came in here looking for a gift option, asking the staff in there for some options. He didn't seem to be very knowledgeable. I asked few questions and he just nodded and shook his shoulders. I was quite annoyed with his attitude. I asked for his name and he ignored me. He was asian with glasses around 5 feet 5. I was hoping other staff would step in to help, but they were looking very lazy. I decided to go somewhere else.
google avatar

Olivia C.

Yelp
I do not recommend buying gentle monster glasses, they broke after one use and I asked them if they repaired it and they said they would charge me 15% plus tax. All because I threw out a black card that came with the glasses that said "warranty" on it. The reason I threw it out was bc it had literally no other info on it and I wasn't expecting them to break after wearing them once! Store is nice and employees are pleasant but company policy is crap. I'm walking over to retro future glasses and getting me a pair that will last me years
google avatar

Kirstie C.

Yelp
Don't know why the store is filled with such bad reviews! Visited here at the end of July to pick up my first pair of GMs. The staff were great and took extra precautions to prevent spread of covid while personalizing my shopping experience. I went into the store with the intention of purchasing the Lang 01, but with the personalized shopper who (I'm sorry i don't remember your name!) ended giving me great feedback on the type of frames that fit my face. Overall it was a great experience! I ended up purchasing the SOLO 01 in small. I did feel a tiny bit rushed towards the end as I was indecisive about purchasing which pair, but I was given a long time to browse through all the glasses of a certain style I had in mind. The prices are higher than your average pair of sunglasses, but like all fashion brands, you are ultimately paying for the brand that Korean dramas such as Crash Landing on You and the band BTS wear.

KM K.

Yelp
The shop and glasses are unique and stylish, worth at least 4 stars! In my previous experiences the staff are well trained and experienced with politeness. However, in my recent shop visit, the staff work in the shop are not professional - keep chatting at the corner area. The worst feeling was doing the alignment and adjustment of frame. The lady wearing in black, one piece, seemed not receiving related training and with no patient. In the event a staff has no knowledge in that particular area, I (as a customer) would have a better feeling, of telling me to wait for another staff to assist. Hope this is an issue of a particular staff only.
google avatar

Chay K.

Yelp
5 stars for the design and super cool decorations. 2 stars because there's barely any merchandises in the store. It's like a whole big blah full of nothing. I don't recommend going to this store at all. It's nothing!!!!!!!!

Yelp
This place is amazing! Had every style you'd want to try from Gentle Monster and it's the only store in North America. The styles are displayed in a way that's very easy to try yourself. There are tons of mirrors around and the sales people are not pushy at all. My friends and I spent almost an hour here trying different styles and generally having a lot of fun. Keep in mind that although they have many styles out, some of them might not be in stock so you may have to give them your contact info so they can email you when a shipment comes in. My friend ended up choosing a pair and the girl at checkout patiently adjusted it for her until it fit her face just right. She even went so far as to open three new pairs to see which one fit best and adjusting that! That's quality customer service that you don't often see. The glasses, though not cheap, are good quality and less expensive than those from luxury designers. I can't wait for my new pairs to arrive!

Faisl T.

Yelp
LOVE this place! They're doing a great job with social distancing during COVID-19 times. You have to book a 30 minute appointment prior to visiting in order to be able to tour the store and try on the glasses safely. Henry helped me with my visit today, he was fantastic!!

Brat T.

Yelp
Cool frames, shitty lens and quality. Be ware Ok so cool store with cool shaped movie star large sunglasses. Some parts made in china and some in Korea for around $250. The lens has no Uva protection is the quality of shifty drug store sunglasses you can buy for $5. It not only made my eyes sore and tired and gave me a wicked headache after wearing it for 25 minutes I was blinded by the hazy sun. Meaning this is not beach or poo wear. Perfect if you're a celebrity and you only need singlasss for 3 minute intervals when exiting Clubs at night but if you want to protect your eyesight and lie by the pool this is not recommended. As for sales, no pressure kind and it's concierge setting so you pay in the back and the concierge will bend and shape the glasses for you af front desk. Some flloating crystals In the back art gallery of you're into that sort of thing for a ray ban girl like me it was all a bit pretentious.

Maria C.

Yelp
Friendly people working here... I walked in and got my glasses in a short amount of time as there was only 4 options left to choose from because everything was sold out :( I always have an issue with glasses not fitting my big head and for reasons I won't mention... I felt like the glasses here would fit and surprisingly 1 out of the 4 options did and since I just needed glasses asap, I picked them out. I asked when they would be restocking but none of the salespeople knew... However, there were plenty of sunglasses available and all of them fit and looked great. I'll probably be back to find a pair of sunnies!

Jinsub O.

Yelp
I visited the store today. And this is how I felt 1. Too hot in the store. No AC? 2. Too dark, saving electricity bill ? What is the point of using mirror for the shelves if you want to keep the store dark. How can you see the color of frames or lenses you are trying on in this dark space ?????? 3.there is no one greeting you or helping any customers. I saw about 6 or 8 people trying on sunglasses, but there was no one on the selling floor. I saw one guy and a girl at the cash desk, but both of them were very busy looking at their own smartphone. They did not seem to care what goes on the selling floor This store is not being run professionally. It seems that there is no store guide or company training module for the staffs. There are some hip designs but this store is doomed
google avatar

Yelp
Takes forever to check out, they should better manage their employee and inventory, while one guy is scramble at the register yet the other employees are standing n' chill around.

Yelp
If I could give it a zero star I would !!!! Worst management ever!!!! Bought a pair of sunglasses on July 13, and returned it on July 14th (the next day) because I don't like the color and shape of the sunglasses! The girl did a quick refund, and I waited for two weeks no refund was issue to my credit card. So I called on July 27th to check what was going on. And the girl told me refund usually take 3-5 days, and yet I've been waited for 2 WEEKS!! I didn't have my refund receipt with me or what so ever cuz I never had this kind of issue before. But she found my purchase on July 13th but no refund record was found on the 14th. "My manager is in the meeting right now, I will talk to him once he's done with the meeting and call you back." YES I TRUSTED HER. And I waited for another week for her MANAGER TO CALL ME BACK! Yes no one called me back! So I called today which is been three weeks from the return/ refund date and more than a week from the time I called the store. A guy pick up the phone. "My manager is off today, our sales associate is not aware of this..... This is my managers task, not out task" seriously? He didn't even want to spend some effort to double check again or anything. This is ridiculous!!!!!

Veronica C.

Yelp
They don't even deserve 1 star. My Bil brought my husband a pair of $400 sunglasses. My husband didn't like the red/ orange shades so we wanted an exchange for the same pair of sunglasses but in a different color - grey. The Asian guy that helped us told us that he could ONLY refund the money back into my Bil's credit card and we can't do an exchange. Which makes no sense because on their receipt it clearly states return/ exchange within 7 days. My husband pointed that line for him to read and he still argues saying he could only credit the amount back and can't do exchange. So my husband advise him that the company shouldn't put the word "EXCHANGE" on their receipt then. He was being very rude to us and that's when we asked to speak with the manager. He advise us that the manager is in the front and we could go get him. What kind of customer service is this? The manager was an American guy and he say yes we could have an exchange and when we complain about his employee's attitude, the manager say he didn't know blah blah. How can an employee not know about the company's policy? Their product is not made with the best quality and all of their sunglasses are overpriced. Don't even bother to go shop there.
