George House Heritage Bed and Breakfast

This place was wonderful. Very quiet and peaceful. Todd is an excellent host. We don't often stay at B& Bs as it never feels like enough privacy. That is not so here. The breakfast was more than enough to get us thru the morning. There is a great view of the bay and a very short walk to the brewing company. There is a place to park your car and it's off the road. If you are in this area, I recommend George's B & B.

A Perfect Stay at George House Heritage B&B We had an incredible stay at the George House Heritage Bed & Breakfast! The location couldn’t be better—just steps away from the Dildo Brewing Company, and nestled in a truly picturesque setting. The house itself is full of charm, both inside and out. You can tell that a lot of care and attention went into restoring and decorating it—every detail feels thoughtfully chosen. The history of the home is proudly displayed throughout, giving it even more character and a real sense of place. Todd, the owner, was an exceptional host—warm, welcoming, and genuinely funny. He made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived and went out of his way to make our stay memorable. One of the highlights was waking up to the smell of Todd’s freshly baked muffins—absolutely delicious! Since the weather was beautiful, we enjoyed breakfast outside in the most peaceful and relaxing setting imaginable. It was the perfect start to the day. The bed was super comfy, the views were spectacular, and the whole experience was unforgettable. I absolutely recommend the George House Heritage B&B to anyone visiting the area. I truly hope we make it back to Newfoundland one day—we’ll definitely be staying here again

This B&B is like stepping back in time, while retaining modern conveniences. The rooms are stunning. We stayed in the Albert Room, and the view through the window of the sea was like an elegant painting. Todd is a gracious host and provides a delicious breakfast with home- baked goods and delicious cheeses. Dildo Brewing Company, which serves up some of the best food and beer in Newfoundland, is just across the road.||||I highly recommend a stay here, and, when you do, ask about going to the nearby beach and Cupids, which is the first settlement by Europeans in North America. On the way to or from Cupids, you can stop at the Newfoundland Distillery, which is amazing.

We spent 2 days at Todd's bed & breakfast in early July. Everything was top notch - location, decor of room, comfy bed, great breakfast - and we had the opportunity to speak with Todd throughout our stay. He had a great knowledge of the area & recommendations regarding things to do. My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay & would highly recommend the George House Heritage Bed & Breakfast to anyone interested in staying in the area.

What an amazing place to stay. Todd the host is a wonderful cook and really enjoyed our morning homemade breakfast. His cookbook is full of good recipes. Unique spot was a must stay

Had a lovely visit here in August . The owner went out of his way to accommodate any request we had. While it was only a one night visit it was certainly enjoyable. The place has an old charm that is quite inviting. The preservation of such an historic building was immaculate.The feeling of being taken back in time was nostalgic. This is the place to visit if your ever in the area.

When we arrived at George House Todd our host quickly grabbed our luggage and hefted them up the stairs to our charming room with a beautiful view of Dildo bay and surroundings. And what a beautiful house built in 1885. And in the morning a home cooked breakfast. He was quick to answer any and all questions providing us with very useful answers. Highly recommended!!

While traveling through Newfoundland, I came across this incredibly charming and historic B&B. As soon as I arrived in town, I could see what set it apart from others I stayed at. It sat majestically at the top of the hill, at the end of its long driveway. Not knowing much about the history, I stopped at the end and read the plaque outlining its origins. You can tell a bit about an accommodation's character by its guests, and the George House Heritage B&B is no different. As I drove up the driveway and parked, 4 guests were sitting, perched at the outdoor firepit, and warmly greeted me with snacks and drinks. The owner came out, and before I even checked in, we had spent hours laughing and talking. Once inside, the detailed attention to the house and the warm atmosphere was incredibly welcoming. My room was perfectly appointed in the period pieces of the house's history. For breakfast, Todd provided homemade pastries, as well as eggs, yogurt, and fresh fruit. The next time I pass through Dildo, this is the only place I will stay!! Thanks for your warm hospitality, Todd!

This bed and breakfast is LOVELY! Todd was our host and he has such elegant manners and is a fantastic cook! (PS You can buy their cookbook there or in local book stores.) It is clear that the hosts pay attention to every detail. Our room had a lovely view and was well-appointed. Breakfast in the morning was charming. I can't wait to go back! Highly recommend.

Great Bed and Breakfast about an hour east of St. John's, NL. Todd and Dale pay great attention to detail and it shows as the George House is full of quality throughout the home. The Victorian style from a house built in 1885 shows throughout yet each room has modern amenities with great ensuites / hot tubs, comfortable beds, TV, etc. The accompanying restaurant at the Inn By The Bay serves a fantastic dinner menu and wonderful breakfast. The skills of Todd and Dale and their staff in the kitchen are top notch and you will enjoy eating on the water with a lovely view. I recommend the four course menu for dinner. The four courses allow the chefs to show off a wide array of culinary skills. *We started with cod fish cakes done in an amazing mustard sauce. Delicious. *Next we both enjoyed an amazing roasted red pepper soup with one of the best home made biscuits I've ever eaten. *For our entrees we enjoyed a Cod au Gratin dish and a chicken dish. Both were done very well. I would love to see a red meat option (striploin? tenderloin?) added to the menu. *Desserts were rhubarb cheesecake and an amazing blueberry cake in a rum sauce. George House Heritage Bed and Breakfast in Dildo is one of only four Canada Select rated 5 star bed and breakfasts in Newfoundland and Labrador and the only one outside of the metro St. John's area.
