There are a lot of stairs but they have a cart that can pick people up from the top. It's a beautiful location. The person in charge of our group was friendly and taught the inexperienced the proper way to eat dungeness crab. The meal started with a salad and then they gave each person a single cluster of crab legs. About 10 minutes later she came back around to refill the crab. You can eat all you want but have a one hour limit. My wife and I are three between us and it was delicious too. One guy ate almost three crabs on his own. They also served a piece of cheesecake, which was also very tasty.

Google
Top notch experience. My mom and I came here during an Alaskan cruise excursion. Hayden was so friendly and nice. He was absolutely awesome!! It was the highlight of our trip. The crab was amazing!! The beer flight was awesome!!

Google
Such a great excursion in Ketchikan. It was so much fun, with great staff that were very friendly and knowledgeable. We had an all you can eat crab lunch that was delicious. It was definitely a highlight of our Alaskan cruise

Google
Had an awesome crab and craft beer experience as part of an excursion. Our host did an excellent job explaining each of the craft beers and providing a truly delicious dungeness crab meal.

Google
Fantastic boat ride into this quaint and beautiful lodge. Staff are beyond friendly and the local seafood feast was prepared with care and was delicious. The views are incredible and the "tour guide" on our boat was enthusiastic and knowledgable. Beer flight is delicious!

Google
AYCE crab! We went here on a shore excursion and it was exactly as advertised. An easy 30min bus ride from the terminal takes you to the lodge. Upon arrival you walk down 78 steps to the dock and board a boat (a minivan is available to take anyone with mobility concerns). The boat was comfortable and warm. It was easy to board for anyone with mobility concerns too. Each row had large windows that were easy to see through/open. The ride was about 20 minutes before pulling up to a crab bait station. The deck hand did a great job entertaining the group and sharing facts about crabs in an engaging way letting anyone interested in holding a crab etc. After the boat ride you're ushered in to a dining room with a salad already set and waiting for you. The drinks are bottomless and after a short demonstration on how to break through a crab shell, the feast begins. All of us ate to our hearts content. Dessert was equally tasty (cheesecake). The reason why I'm giving a 4 star vs 5 star review is because of the following: 1. While on the open water, you could only be on the outside of the boat with a deck hand. It was a glorious day when we went and not being permitted to be outside was disappointing. The deck hand went outside just long enough for us to snap a quick photo but not long enough to enjoy the incredible views outside. 2. The dining room carpet floor has crab shells and bits of crab on it making it impossible to put your bag down without your stuff getting crab juice all over it. Installing hooks on one of the walls would solve the issue or adding hooks to the back of the dining room chairs. 3. The dining portion was short and felt rushed. The room was also cramped b/c every seat was taken. Due to a medical emergency in our group we arrived late and I'm guessing that impacted the amount of time we had at the lodge which seemed short. Even still, the tables are close together and it felt like we were part of an assembly line - get in, eat quickly, get out with just enough time to stop at the gift shop. It was not relaxing BUT the crab was incredibly delicious. We still had a lovely time, but it's not worth it if anyone in your group doesn't like crab.

Google
Don't get me wrong, the food was fine and a good excursion event. The staff was great and I thoroughly enjoyed the food. It was a drive out to a building that feed us, nothing m ore. The views were great from then building as well.

Google
One of the best excursions of our trip, and an absolute must-do. You can’t come to Alaska and not eat a lot of crab, and it’s even better if you can get to see where and how they’re caught too. Captain Rusty and our very knowledgeable onboard guide Sam took us to a distant inlet where each morning they drop their crab pods. We learnt all about how it’s done responsibly and ecologically. Dungeness crab is also very sustainable so this a good choice of crab. And it’s so delicious and very easy to access the meat. After our boat trip we arrived back at the Inn and were seated in the historic building for lunch - unlimited crab for a full hour! A brief helpful demo showed us the best and easiest way to access the meat. Drinks were provided and the crab kept coming! For what we paid, and considering the current crab prices, we felt this was excellent value for money! We would absolutely do this experience again in a heartbeat- absolutely 100% recommended.

Yelp
We went to George inlet lodge as part of a cruise excursion, about a 20 minute drive from Newtown in Ketchikan. We started with a 1-1.5 hr boar tour saw eagles and seals than the guide pulled a crab pot with some dungenous crabs. He allowed everyone to hold the crab and one person got to pull up the pot. The guide was super informative and we learned a lot about the area. Afterwards we came back to the lodge and sat down for a crab feast. To start we were offered 1 alcoholic beverage or a soda drink. They were not skimpy by any means in an 1 hour period we ate 4-5 crabs each. Afterwards we were served a blueberry cheesecake. Definitely would recommend for a nice 3.5 hour excursion.

Yelp
We came here for lunch after our UTV adventure that was booked through Celebrity Cruises (the excursion included the UTV tour and lunch). After our UTV tour, the group was picked up in a boat that gave us a brief tour of the area around us and we were able to stop a few times to see some bald eagles and the guide even pointed out some eagles' nests high up in the trees facing the shore. Upon arrival, lunch was set up in a large room including the beer flight ready to sip. Lunch included a roll, crab and corn chowder with half a crab as the main entree and cheesecake for dessert. The food was delicious and they offer seconds if people are still hunger after. There's also a cute little souvenir shop on the property that has some local root beer and cream sodas. The flight up the stairs to the shuttle area is a good workout after the big lunch.

Yelp
Hostess was friendly and helpful The salad and dressing was refreshing Wheat Thins was wheat thins Main Event: The Dungeness crab The meat was sweet/awesome the dipping butter went well with the crab meat - eat fast - the butter hardened while on ending of the 2nd round of crab They brought out more melted butter for the 3rd round Next came dessert: Creme cheesecake with blueberry topping- yum I ordered a soda pop with my meal too The food was great but my company was better. Thank you!

Yelp
Remote Lodge that no longer takes in boarders, but provides two services: a timed Dungeness Crab feast and a boat ride deeper into the George Inlet to locate and view a Crab Pot. We got to do both activities as part of a Shore excursion from NCL. To get down to the lodge, one must take a series of 70+ wooden steps down to the waters edge. Later as part of the boat tour, we learned that the bottom of the lodge is actually still below high tide and will actually flood at parts of the year. The only people who stay overnight at the Lodge are the employees of the lodge that service the tourists during season. All of them were superb.

Yelp
Came here on a cruise ship excursion that was coupled with the lumberjack show. They definitely have the whole experience streamlined. We were packed in like sardines; there is not much arm room between you and the guest next to you. Individual salads were already placed on the table for people to start eating when coming in. The options for drinks included unlimited soda or first beer/wine free. There was a terrible stench when first walking into the room they served us. Over time, the smell goes away, but there is definitely a smell. After salads, they show you how to open crab, and then they start serving. There are 3 rounds of crab. They'll come by occasionally and fill you up with more crab but I felt like by the time they got to me, they were almost always out. They'll call last round and then serve a cheesecake dessert. Overall, the food was delicious & the crab was fresh. I just wish they had a bigger/cleaner dining area & that we had a longer time to eat. It was all very rushed.

Koko M.

Yelp
Hands down best excursion (coupled with Lumberjack Show) and crab feast I've been too in ages!!! The serving crew is absolutely the sweetest. Bit of a bummer they don't allow tips when using card or have a tip jar we could find on our way out. Quite unfortunate because we wanted to add to the tip jar so badly! Great serving crew, beautiful location, lovely little bus ride out to the lodge. Plenty of photo opportunities, get your cameras ready. If we ever come back without a cruise ship we will be staying here for sure. Cannot say enough great things about them.

Melevair S.

Yelp
The Positives: the view is pretty and the crab and cheesecake were good. The Not Great: The stench of the restaurant hits you hard when walking in. It smelled rancid of decaying crab meat and cleaning fluid in a lackluster attempt to cover it. Unfortunately, that is the first impression, so somewhat difficult to rev up an appetite with that smell surrounding you and settling into your clothes and hair. The salad that starts the meal is also incredibly lackluster and I wonder if it would have been better without it. The staff were less than friendly and they were constantly hurrying us along and taking plates while we were still mid-bite which should not be the experience. It's also really far out from the ship so took most of our time. I would do more in town instead and skip this.

Jerrica Charlene G.

Yelp
GOOD: the quality and taste of the crab and cheesecake (thus 2 stars) BAD: The 2 female staffs hosting our (8am-9am) lunch tour today (July 26, 2024) from Norwegian Bliss kept on rushing us. It really takes out the mood from savoring and enjoying your meal. They kept telling us that they need to clean our table and that the bus will leave us (yet all the other tables have not even been cleaned yet and the toilet is filled up with lines). Even if we leave our table, everyone on the bus is still lining up at the toilet and they still do not need to clean up our table because there are tons of other tables to clean. In the end we left our plates unfinished, in a bad mood and killed the remaining time (that they kept on saying is up) waiting at the toilet and for the bus. There was about 20 mins of wasted time that we could have used in finishing up the crabs left on our plate. I hope the management and the 2 staffs reads this: RUSHING THE MEAL KILLS THE MOOD AND TAKES OUT THE JOY OF SAVORING THE TASTE.

Yelp
First time here. Came on a cruise to Alaska on the NCL bliss. Went on the george inlet fjords safari, Kraft beers and Dungeness crab excursion. This place is awesome. Our server was exceedingly knowledgeable. We got to try some crab chowder, salmon dip with crackers and tasted five different beers all brewed in Alaska. The crab was phenomenal. Highly recommend. I had never had crab legs so first time trying it and it was delicious. For desert we were served blueberry cheesecake and it was one of the best tasting cheesecake I've ever had. They do serve chicken for those who are not a big fan of seafood like my sister. She ordered Cajun chicken and really enjoyed it. The beers were great. Overall great place. I would highly recommend coming here to have some delicious crab.

Yelp
While cruising in Alaska, my husband really had his heart set on all-you-can-eat crabs. This is basically the place in Ketchikan to do it, although it's usually bundled with a tour. Luckily when we got into port we were able to find just the food portion for half the price, which included transportation to and from the strip. We were sat in a small room with about 6 other people (who happened to be on another ship). We got lots of crab and it was nice and intimate. While the crabs were delicious, I'm giving this four stars because the lunch can be a little rushed. We had a small intimate group so it wasn't too bad, but you might end up with a larger group of 30-100 people, especially if you bundle this with a tour. We had other passengers on tour bundles tell us how they didn't have as much time to eat and it felt more informal. Also don't just assume the tour will come first and then food. It's all random, so don't necessarily fill up on breakfast beforehand. I'd still recommend this, although if you just want the food without the tour, you'll have to make reservations outside of the cruise line excursions. Or if you bundle this with a tour, just prepared for the eating experience to be a bit more rushed.

Zach H.

Yelp
Amazing!! Went on part of my cruise excursion for "all you can eat crabs." They have their process streamlined so when you sit down they have a small basic citrus dressed salad waiting. Then it's multiple rounds of Dungeness crab which was buttery, sweet, and meaty. Seriously so good. Their red ale they offered pair nicely with it. Then for desert they offered a blueberry glazed cheesecake which was unbelievable. The area is also really beautiful on the water.

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Came here on an excursion after the lumberjack show. Had a great day overall! The staff, Dave and Kaitlyn, were awesome. So helpful with cracking and refilling our plates. If I could rate 3.5 stars, I would. 3 is low and 4 is high. We got about four helpings each. Some of us could have kept going and the others of us were full. The bathrooms were nice and clean. The views were amazing! I know it's a crab fest and you only get 90 minutes but I would have loved a side dish. Corn, potatoes, bread, something.... The starter salad was nice but the dressing was oily and not very flavorful. I know people were huffing and puffing on the long walk up stairs back to the bus but it wasn't that bad.... It was nice after all that crab.

Dawn T.

Yelp
Dungeness Crab Feast is amazing! All you can eat Dungeness crab. You start off with a salad which is decent but really it's only keeping the customers busy while they get the Dungeness crab ready. They also give you the opportunity to try the local beer, which is really good. Then, the star of the show... The Dungeness crab! As much as you want! Served with melted butter. Perfect!

Ashley S.

Yelp
We decided to book the crabbing tour and Dungeness crab feast while here in port. I felt like the description didn't meet what occurred. We were packed into the boat like sardines and couldn't see through the windows at all. They should Defog them. They make stuff to do that. They only pulled up 1 crab pot and everyone was pushing because it was just overcrowded. On the way back they threw herring to the eagles and one swooped down to get it, but again, too many people on the boat and couldn't really see. You can't tell from the pictures because I took photos when we were loading and from above people's heads. When we arrived back to the dock we were taken into the lodge for the Dungeness crab feast, which is what I really came for. It was am extremely short amount of time to eat and then be rushed back to the bus. I got really frustrated at one point because the girl kept passing our table for the crabs and by the time she'd get to us they were either gone or only pieces left. I don't know that I would do this again. I'd just find somewhere I can sit and eat crabs without the rush.

Connie C.

Yelp
This is a must-do when visiting Ketchikan. It's easy to book on their website. If you're coming in on a cruise, no worries, they pick you up at the dock and return you. Even if their website doesn't show availability, email or call for reservations. We booked the day before we arrived in Ketchikan. It's truly all you can eat Dungeness crabs and they are caught within 60 miles of the lodge. And don't be shy about asking for more. We almost didn't book it because our cruise was only in port from 9am-1pm and didn't think we'd want to eat crabs in the morning. But guess what, it didn't matter. If given the chance, we'd eat them for breakfast! On the 20 minute ride to the lodge, the driver talked about the local area and places of interest. The Crab Feast at George Inlet Lodge is what you want to do in Ketchikan!

Judy L.

Yelp
BEWARE!!! OVERPRICED FOR 20-25 mins of crab eating. Floors and chairs were dirty when we arrived. This $149 per person excursion is very misleading!! Rushed - crabs were good but everything else was subpar. PICK A DIFFERENT EXCURSION!

Chris S.

Yelp
We were all looking forward to this excursion. Our kids love fresh crab so they were very excited to go. It starts with a nice boat ride to the lodge and the scenery is so beautiful. We saw bears on the way and the kids were super excited. The food was very good. We enjoyed this tour and would go again.

Samantha L.

Yelp
The crab was delicious and the staff was amazing. A wonderful server named Mary saw us struggling with our one year old and helped us by cracking open a bunch of crab for us.

Erica C.

Yelp
8-1-23 - service was good and the crab was good. They say 3 rounds of crab and eat as much as you can. We had to ask every time for more and they announced final round. Also, rushed to get the blueberry cheesecake out and stopped the crab service. More to come. Those who took the bus were told 5 minutes before the bus leaves for the cruise ship. People were pist! They had to eat the rest of the food fast, use the restroom and /or hit the gift store in 5 minutes. Ridiculous. We left hungry. I timed how long they have us to eat the crab. Wasted 10 minutes for a salad which we didn't eat at all. Already placed on the table for us. Also, they give you a 1 napkin. No more. Total of 3 stars out of 5. We were there right after Covid and had a better experience. Expect about 2-3 items of crab. Any more and you are lucky. It really appeared if you sat closer to the kitchen area you had more crab and closer to the door you were out of luck. Can't post photos because I was unable to take any due to just trying to get crab to us and no napkins. They had an odd contest who could stack the highest shells. They went around with a measuring stick. Other than saying who was the highest. No awards or gimmicks. Very odd and no clue why they even did this.

Shawn W.

Yelp
Feel free to pig out without being judged! This place is crab heaven. I had high expectations but even those were exceeded. Upon arrival be prepared to make your way down the long stairs to your meal. Don't worry, it's just a little exercise to make a little more room in your belly for what's to come. Once inside you'll have a nice salad waiting for you at the table. If you want to leave even more room for the tasty goodness, pass that salad to a friend and keep it moving. If not, enjoy your tasty appetizer. The staff will be around to take your drink order. We were granted one free adult beverage with our meal and all others cost $6. They had non alcoholic drinks for free. Loved the flavored tea! No sugar needed. Now.. the main event. UNLIMITED Dungeness Crab goodness!!!! So much crab meat.. so much butter, so much breaking, cracking, ripping, chewing.. rinse and repeat OVER and OVER. Your plate is never left empty. The staff are constantly walking around to fill you up again. The crab comes out piping hot and ready for consumption. Please eat until your heart desires no more.. but leave a little room at the end. The best freaking cheesecake you'll ever have awaits you for dessert. The blueberries and blueberry sauce were like no other I've ever tasted. You will be so glad that you wore those stretchy pants! (Wear stretchy pants or be prepared to unbutton your jeans lol) And now.. the walk of shame. Climbing those stairs to try and lose a little of the weight you just put on. Oh, but it's so worth it!

Corie Q.

Yelp
would love to give 5 stars, however you are restrained by time. the wait staff talks way too much. 10 minutes on how to crack crab. The salad, used to be delicious, but they have changed the dressing. This was our 3rd time there over the years. They literally hand you your dessert which is cheesecake topped with blueberries, very good. Unfortunately you still have your crab plate. They pack you in a room, with very little arm space to crack crab. The room we were in was closest to the dock. We have always been in a smaller room, more space etc. Which I highly recommend. But you do not get to choose. They actually said sorry time is up, you have to go. *****Talk Less Wait Staff! we visited 09/21/2024 at 1:30 seating.

Julie O.

Yelp
The experience was a lifelong memory! The scenery was astonishing the food was amazing the service impeccable! I loved every minute of it! If you're thinking of going do it you won't be sorry!

Todd M.

Yelp
Went to this lodge for large Crab Meal on an excursion off of Princess ship - I must say I highly recommend it. Dungeness Crab was the best I have ever had.

Gayle T.

Yelp
I am so behind on my reviews for which I apologize. This lodge is awesome. While on a cruise throughout Alaska. I chose the lodge as one of my excursions. Absolutely gorgeous view of the George Inlet Bay. We arrived by float plane (another amazing excursion) to dine at the crab feast dinner at the lodge. Delicious!! I will definitely go back to the lodge for the crab feast if given the opportunity. Service/staff team stands second to none. They were friendly, efficient and very accommodating to everyone's needs. The lodge was kept very clean . It was everything I hoped it would be and more. I wanted to stay longer but since the excursions are timed, our ride back to the dock took precedence. I highly recommend this lodge and the crab feast!!!

Eric B.

Yelp
WOW!!! We just got back on the ship after an excellent Crab Feast at the George Inlet Lodge. This of course was part of a shore excursion but I have to single out the Lodge and the how AWESOME the Crab Feast was!!! All three of the young ladies who served us deserve a pat on the back!!! They were very entertaining and quick with refiling your plates with more crab then we could handle. Now lets talk about the food... CRAB!!! Glorious Dungeness crab!!! WOW... This was the Best tasting Crab I have ever had... so fresh and juicy, no need for melted butter, and ALL YOU CAN EAT!!! I couldn't keep up!!! it was so good!!! Lets not forget about the Awesome Cheesecake with Blueberry on top... Damn... I am speechless. If you're deciding on a shore excursion, it is a MUST to ensure that the Crab Feast at the George Inlet Lodge is on this excursion... YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!

Ming L.

Yelp
I really wanted to enjoy this excursion but there were too many disappointments through NCL cruise visit. We got off the ship by 7am and waited what felt like forever to get on the road. The tour was good, it was a bit foggy initially but we spotted a black bear in the distance, a bald eagle, and beautiful trees and small waterfalls in the cove. When we returned to the lodge for our crab fest, a pathetic "salad" was on the table waiting for us. After about 10 minutes we got a quick lesson on how to eat the crab and then the staff started to bring out the crab legs. Each person was probably given half a crab and butter. The staff let you finish and another half crab is given. If you have enough time to finish that, they will give you a leg or two. I felt mislead, I thought it was all you can eat but its really all you can eat in 20 minutes, 25 minutes max. When I tell you its rushed, I am not exaggerating. The staff told us we had to get out so that they could prepare for the next group of people (the group was still on the boat at the time). I did not have a chance to get a slice of cheesecake. Half the room did not get dessert because we wanted the crab instead. There are many steps to get up and down to the lodge and I wanted to keep that in mind for visitors. Please beware that this is not really all you can eat and you will be rushed. I do have to say that the crab was delicious!! Just wish I had at least another 10 minutes to enjoy it.

Nicole F.

Yelp
I researched this tour on cruise critic and trip advisor before deciding to use our shipboard credit on this excursion. It is definitely a great tour as all the reviews indicate. Even though you immediately get on a bus loaded with about 60 people the operation is efficient and you aren't waiting long before you are riding along the waterline of Ketchikan heading to George inlet. The scenery is beautiful and the drive is about 25 minutes. The driver was a university student on the mainland recruited by the company. He was a wealth of information and entertaining too. Definitely made the trip enjoyable. Once there they take you down a boat ramp where you are divided into two boats. We got the smaller more intimate one so that was nice. Be aware there is a bathroom onboard but it's tiny and reminded me of a port a potty! You then take about an hour boat ride to the crab pots and along the way you see salmon running and literally flying out of the water. The boat tour guide was also a young entertaining fellow. The employees of the operation definitely add to the experience with their professionalism and knowledge. Once at the crab pots they haul them out of the water and give you a lesson in crabbing. Some tried to scurry away between our feet! Then you head back to the lodge where they serve you all you can eat Alaskan dungeness crab. It truly was all you can eat and included a salad and one drink. I think they served potatoes too but that only slows you down...go for the crab. I even skipped the cheesecake for more crab! It was not too salty and perfectly cooked. Buttery sweet yummy goodness...and messy too! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tour...even if you don't have a ship credit and have to pay yourself.

Bob K.

Yelp
Basically unlimited quantity of delicious and fresh Dungeness crab and drawn butter - wonderfully tasty. Cute Alaskan lodge. As others have noted - be prepared for ~80 stairs (covered due to the legendary Ketchikan rain.) Why only 4 stars? We went on a cruise ship excursion- nice bus ride there with funny commentary. The catch was the overly long, somewhat crowded boat trip that was essentially mandatory. Fogged windows, the crew fed a bald eagle a fish, pulled up a crab pot and had passengers play with a crab. Endless commentary that could have been replaced by a quick Google or two. - a 15 minute ride would of been OK - an hour of this was cruel and unusual punishment. This boat ride was an hour of tedium.

DeAnna H.

Yelp
We signed up for this excursion before our cruise. We watched videos on YouTube so we would know what to expect. Nothing prepared us for 90 minutes of all you can eat Dungeness crab! First of all, the weather was perfect. Now if you go and it's raining it's going to be miserable walking down 80 stairs to the dock, so dress comfortable. (300 days of rain a year in Ketchikan) We waited for the room to be prepared and you're seated with folks family style (my husband and I were seated with a lovely couple from Nebraska). They come in and take your drink order and then after a presentation of how to eat the crab, the crab comes, and comes and comes... you can't leave hungry. They do have other options if Crab is not "your thing". We asked for more napkins but they told us that getting messy was part of the fun, so don't wear your favorite shirt! The lady at the table and I loved the cheesecake but our husbands ate the crab. You'll get your money's worth. Service was good, it's a little chaotic serving that many at once - but they did well. Enjoy!!!

Yelp
This was one of the stops on the princess cruise of Alaska I took. I have to say it was the best and abundant amount of crab I have ever had. The staff was friendly and the food was great. They have Mountain Dew, way to cool. There was a boat trip to start off, that gave a little history on the area wildlife along with other items that make Alaska, Alaska. Only thing I would say could use improvement, the amount of time with wildlife, the best Bald Eagle photos I got was here. They brought the eagles to us, if the boat was so pact, I would have more of a smile. Once again, staff and food were great, I wished we had more time at this location. I know we got lucky with a full day of sunshine, the sun is out only 50 days a year.

Danielle G.

Yelp
Came here through the Princess Cruises excursion which included a walk through the Rainforest sanctuary followed by lunch at George Inlet Lodge. Our bus parked us up top, but the restaurant is located 70-something steps down towards the water. Do not fear there is a shuttle that can drive you down if you're less mobile. We were immediately seated in front of a salad consisting of greens and mandarin oranges. Once the group was all seated, they started taking drink orders. The first beverage is complimentary. Choice of beer (Alaskan Amber), white wine, soda, lemonade, iced tea, coffee, or tea. Any additional drinks are $6 for beer/wine or $1.50 for soda/coffee/tea. Then our hostesses gave a detailed explanation of how to eat crab. This is good for any newbies who may not be familiar with the most efficient ways of eating crab legs. Time for the main event! We were served our first plates of Dungeness crab legs with a side of melted butter, lemon and potato. I am a crab lover and back home in California we normally have rock or spider crab, occasionally blue crab or stone crab. Dungeness crab is on another level. It has this amazing sweet flavor but maintaining the beautifully salty crab flavor. The texture is tender and barely needs butter; just a squeeze of lemon. Over the next hour I felt like I couldn't eat fast enough! The ladies continuously walked around with buckets of crab leg refills. At first I was being a good crab eater and cleaning every part of the crab leg, even the small pieces, but I quickly ditched that plan and focused my energy and time on the chunkier parts to make the most of my meal. Towards the end they came around with one last call to make sure we got our fill. As a side note, they do have other meal options in case you have shellfish allergies or maybe do not prefer crab. Although I'm not so sure why you would choose this excursion in either of those cases (unless you are part of a larger group and had no say). Can't end without a sweet finish. We got blueberry cheesecake. Save room for this decadent treat. This was the only excursion we booked through the cruise ship, but it was well worth it in my opinion. It was also the only day at port that it rained, which would've made walking around Ketchikan pretty miserable.

Yelp
Crab was ok, but sure as hell isn't all you can eat. They spent a lot of the 90 minutes talking and me waiting on more crab. What I did get to eat was good. But it's more like a all we want to give you crab dinner, instead of all you can eat.

Yelp
Hands down the best crab. We took a tour of the Lumberjack show and unlimited crab. The ladies are on top of it and always had a smile on their face. If you want to excellent crab and top notch service come here.

Yelp
" Fantastic Crab Tour and Dinner " My wife and I went on a Wilderness Exploration & Crab Feast tour in Ketchikan Alaska three weeks ago and had wonderful time. The tour was out of the George Inlet Lodge where we boarded a ship piloted by captain Ryan. An excellent tour guide Austie gave a fantastic educational verbal tour throughout the 1 hour cruise. The information about the Crab, the Eagles, and other wild life on our tour was so wonderful. The all you can eat Crab Lunch we had after our tour was also Fantastic ! The Crab was so tender and tasty, and along with the potato and salad served with the Lunch, it was all very good. For Dessert we had a very good Cheesecake with Blueberry Sauce. Yum ! I highly recommend this experience when you visit Ketchikan Alaska, you will not be Disappointed !

Yelp
I took an excursion offered by my cruise company for the wildlife tour and crab feast. The boat tour was amazing. We saw eagles and our guide pulled up a crab trap and gave us an hands-on show and tell about crab fishing. She was great, very informative and fun! Then we went to the dock for the crab feast. You sit at big tables so you might be paired with another group. I was with a family from Kentucky and they were so nice! Then comes the crab! (they have chicken if you're not feeling crabby) Everyone gets as many legs as they want, refills keep coming! There's a prize for the table that has the tallest pile of shells. It's up to you to dig the meat out of the legs. They show you how, but it's a messy process (don't wear nice clothes!) They don't give you any side dishes (I took off one star for that. I would have liked a potato or some coleslaw or something else.) Then you get a slice of blueberry cheesecake. And finally they give you a nice hot towel and believe me you'll need it! There are restrooms at the lodge and a little give shop. The staff are very nice and efficient. The view over the water is amazing. FYI, it's about 70 steps from street level down to the lodge, but they have a golf cart to take you down and/or back if you don't think you can manage the steps. A very fun excursion and definitely I'd recommend it as worth the money.

Yelp
If you're already all the way out here in Ketchikan, the crab feast tour is a definite must. One price covers transportation, all-you-can-eat crab AND drinks (yes, alcohol included!!!), and an amazing experience. We had a large party so we're lucky enough to have our own private room. Anna was our crab expert and amazing! She demo'd how to properly eat the crabs with minimal utensils and was just overall super attentive to all our needs. Literally the best crab I've ever had in my life. TOTALLY WORTH THE TRIP! Go! Now!

Yelp
Wow what a great experience. Nestled along a beautiful cove, this crab feast is a cool experience. All you can eat caught fresh daily Dungeness crab. Come hungry. The service is great. They only serve one thing-crab. You can get a beer, soda or water. Formula is simple. Crab. And a piece of cheesecake for dessert.

Yelp
Went to the so called Crab Feast and left hungry. It was a total rip-off!!

Yelp
Great shore excursion for Alaska Cruisers in Ketchikan. Beautiful setting, professional boat skippers, we had Rusty. Knowledgeable guide,Santo. The scenery was breathtaking. Eagle and a bear sighting. The crab feast with cheescake at the lodge was wonderful. Thank you for adding to our happy memories for this trip.

Yelp
Came to the lodge for an all-you-can-eat Dungeness crab feast off of the cruise ship. Our host was amazing and just kept the crab clusters coming! Best Dungeness crab that I have ever had...super fresh. Cheesecake was awesome too. Definitely worth another trip to Ketchikan, AK

Yelp
This was part of a shore excursion with Royal Caribbean! Best all around trip for the $$. Great history and exciting for the audience. Was able to see two amazing bald eagles! Breathe taking and exciting. Took some great photos and learned a lot about the history of the lodge itself. This excursion is HIGHLY advised. It was topped off with all you could eat Dungeness crab legs. Delicious!!

Yelp
This was so much fun! We went here for one of our excursions from the Alaskan cruise that left from Seattle. We decided to do the Alaskan cruise for our honeymoon because we are both very adventuresome and out-doorsy. We had read reviews before booking our excursions and this one hit every expectation! It was SO much fun. The captain was so nice and allowed us to get on the back on the boat with him and waited until we were all ready with our cameras on film to be able to tape him throwing a fish into the water so the bald eagle would fly and get it. And his assistant was so nice and very knowledgeable and the history of the place and about crabs themselves. We learned so much on this excursion and of course, got to eat AMAZING crab. All the staff from the captain to the servers at the restaurant, we're so incredibly nice! They had all such a good sense of humor and made us laugh the entire time. The crab was so fresh and yummy and it was all you could eat! We started eating at 10am and I wasn't hungry until dinner again. I would recommend this place for any age group! I would definitely go again!

Yelp
Wilderness Exploration Cruise & Crab Feast - Island Princess Excursion $149 What we read versus what we got with added rain & an aborted bus trip home did NOT dim the AWESOME time we had here! From the Princess website: "Upon arriving at the lodge, you'll board an enclosed tour boat and cruise the George Inlet waterway (then)... you'll return to the George Inlet Lodge for a not-to-be-missed meal." First up, let me say again we did LOVE this excursion - EXCEPT for the fact that we had to eat the crab at 8:30 in the morning. But hey, we're from Maryland - we can eat crab ANYTIME! When we booked the excursion, it did say a boat trip followed with a crab feast....when we got the actual excursion ticket & it said crab first, I don't think we really believed it (I know, silly right?) I guess we could have cancelled it on Embarkation day - but we didn't. I guess we shouldn't have had breakfast that day, either! DUH! I think the Princess marketing materials should say this more clearly. I also think that for the early shift, the George Inlet folks could offer a more brunchy starter than a green salad with an Asian ginger sesame dressing. Maybe a fresh fruit parfait or a smoked salmon platter on the table to share with bagels, chopped eggs, capers, & onion? Or how about a cheesy bacon quiche? Maybe offer a Mimosa to purchase instead of Wine or Beer along with sodas and iced tea? Keep the cheesecake (no one ate it that I saw!) we were all stuffed with the amazingly succulent wonderfully fresh delicious Dungeness crab. Mmmmmmm Really. Quite. Amazing. So yeah, timing aside the crab feast was delicious and the super cute Austie who lead the feast was lots of fun, high energy, & and very entertaining. The Wilderness Exploration Cruise part was AMAZEBALLS! Our cruise tour young naturalist Kiki was super smart and engaging while Capt. Gil the Eagle Whisperer delivered a once in a lifetime Bald Eagle fetch experience! We saw an eagle perched on a branch on the shoreline - Capt. Gil stopped the boat, produced a raw fish, & held it in the air as he whistled and called for "Lucy" and sure enough - that huge bald eagle flew towards the boat, circled it, and as he threw the fish in the water she plunged just feet in front of us & grabbed that fish! WOW!!!!!! I got pictures, I just wish I had gotten a video of this - it was magical! Ketchican & Juneau Excursion NOTE: If you should happen go to Ketchican or Juneau on a cruise ship on the 4th of July DO NOT choose an excursion that leaves the ship by bus. With an early 1:30 departure and the city of Ketchikan & Juneau shutting down the ONLY ROAD BACK TO THE SHIP for a parade, you're best served just walking around town. Not likely to happen, but I just had to mention it. We had to walk....a long long way, in the rain, it was not cool. Of course, finally getting back on the boat & drinking champagne while eating chocolate dipped strawberries on our balcony watching the parade go by and hundreds of others board the ship - PRICELESS! ;-)

Yelp
If you're coming to Ketchikan you have to eat here! It was our best meal during our visit to Alaska. From the moment you walk in the door, you feel welcomed! This was the tastiest Dungeness crab that I've eaten! It's all you can eat crab, you get a cute little red potato and a tasty salad. You get one free drink; which includes choice of beer or soda. The waiters and waitress show you how to properly open the crab and they even had a little contest during the dinner. I suggest you make reservations, 5 plus stars for friendly customer service, food, and cleanliness!! Your stomach will be comfortably STUFFED! Oh and you get blueberry cheesecake Also! They will also give you a ride up the hill if your too FULL to walk up the huge flight of stairs

Carol L.

Yelp
Hands down best Dungeness Crab ever! All you can eat too. Save room for a salad and blueberry cheesecake! Oh.. yes there was a little boat ride out to where the crab pots where. See photo. Best stop in Ketchikan!

Yelp
We took a float plane over to this quaint restaurant a fun ride. The crab was one of the best I've eaten and I am a crab ester. Even better was that it was ayce, So I ate well! They do serve a lot of people so I did feel like cattle so I get it. But when I asked my server what they did with the shells, one of my favorite parts to eat, she did not know and was annoyed. Beer was good.

Yelp
We were on a Princess cruise to Alaska and the crab exploration excursion from this lodge was so much fun! A fabulous state of the art boat took us out to a crab trap. We pulled it up and had a hands on experience learning about the unique qualities of these cold water crabs. The scenery in the inlet was breathtaking and the host was very engaging and informative. We returned to the lodge for a crab feast which included wine, a light, fresh salad, several crab legs and a yummy cheesecake. This was such an enjoyable excursion and I highly recommend!

Yelp
We had an awesome crab feast. Thanks to the instruction of our server, Kara, we were easily able to stuff ourselves on all-you-can-eat Dungeness crab. Dipped in melted butter- so delish! . We enjoyed the private dining room which looked to the water. The cheesecake with Alaskan berries was the perfect end. The perfect setting in spite of the rain. If we are ever back in this corner of the world, we will be back. Thanks for an awesome meal!

Yelp
What is a visit to Alaska without enjoying a crab feast! We checked the reviews and this one was very popular so we booked. You start off by being picked up on the arrival dock and taken by motor coach (bus) on a 30 mile drive to the lodge. The driver was very knowledgeable of the area and gave us a lot of information about Ketchikan and Alaska. Upon arrival we had to take on the 75 steps down to the lodge....no problem we can do downhill. Once on the dock we were separated in to two boats. As we rolled down the river our boat narrator told us about and pointed out an active eagles nest, A very large water fall and it's history and much more. We finally arrived at an area where the crab traps were. Pretty cool they pulled up to one and pulled it up 165 feet. They showed us the diffrence in the male and female crabs. Our guide Presley told us that the female crabs lay about 2 million eggs...but only a very small amount survived something like 4%. After doing the q and a on crabs we headed back. We went in to the dining area with tables set for 4. First drink was free soda, berry tea or beer. I took the tea and it was delish. We got a nice refreshing salad of greens and tasty dressing. Next came the how to instructions on how to get the most meat out of your dungess crab legs. Then came the crab.....oh boy was it sweet and tasty! There was a contest to see who got the highest plate of crab leg shells. After the feast we were treated to cheesecake with a blueberry topping it was to die for! Now came the true test our stamina....we had 75 steps back up the hill. We made it....we enjoyed a nice bus ride back with a different driver who kept us in stitches with his funny jokes about Alaska on the way back. Great choice and we highly recommend this shore excursion!
