George Williams Hotel

We arrived after a 9 hour drive to stand in the lobby while the customer service rep dealt with a faulty fire alarm, which I'd hoped wasn't an omen. The photos were slightly misleading. The room we had was minuscule with two single beds. Luckily it was all we needed, but we couldn't walk around the room at the same time. Shower was working and had hot water which was fantastic. It was let down by the hairs through it. After trying to sleep (our room was next to the lift so we heard the arrival of the carriage whenever anyone came and went), i went to have a coffee only to find the kettle already with water in it (god knows how old the water was) and the mugs were filthy. The good part was the sheets and bed were clean and mostly comfortable. Staff were nice albeit rushed, and the location is central to most things. I think next time we travel to Brisbane, our personal choice would be to try another hotel, but we're snobs haha! If you need somewhere to stay as a layover then yeah, this place will do the job. The restaurant below has okay food which is another bonus.

Upon arrival receptionist was rude and seemed to not want to help. Rooms are TINY!!!! Bedding is super old and I was scared for bed bugs. Restaurant downstairs closes very early (6pm). Meal are nice… but basic. Carpark underneath is tricky to get to. I won’t stay here again…. But if I came back to Brisbane I wouldn’t stay in CBD.

Great value for money hotel and great location. It’s an older hotel but value for money in a great location. Arrived early and was able to check in and the staff behind reception super friendly. The only thing is the car park is very tight and hard to see if you don’t know where going but the staff were super helpful on this. The rooms have lovely touches and they have loads of free streaming channels and excellent tvs. Beds are comfortable and there is a bar restaurant on site which is pleasant. It’s not five star or luxury but you are not paying for five star excellent value for money and I would return. As I say the staff were very friendly and provided excellent service.

Good location, around 8 mins walk from Roma train station and close proximity to eateries/cafes. My room was located on level 2 was in the middle of partial construction/refurb. I had no hot water for hours after checking in at 2pm. Room 207 was of a decent size. Despite having a window, there is only a view of a wall of bathroom windows in the adjacent building. The double bed was comfortable. The bedsheet and pillows was clean but the duvet cover was very stained. Thank goodness I had packed a sleeping bag to use in place of the duvet. The airconditioning system was quite noisy. Did not appreciate that I was made to wait around for ages during checkout for the hotel staff to "CHECK" my room. More like a 3 star hotel at best.

Wow...the service of staff is outstanding. The team is consistently friendly, efficient and professional. From my experience each member is enthusiastic to help, finds a suitable solution and greats with a smile. I attended as a participant for a training course and highly recommend the venue.

Room not clean, orange smears on the bathroom walls. Sink is the size of your hand. Every single morning at 0700 the cleaning staff are loudly speaking on their phones on full volume. Unable to sleep in for the entire 3 nights due to the cleaning staff. The way the doors close on rooms means they loudly bang shut every single time. Maybe I’m just really unlucky but every hour on the hour I can hear people slamming their doors shut and the loud bang of the doors locking. One of the worst sleeps I’ve had. No mini bar fridge in the room. Didn’t sleep well for 4 days. Major let down. You can also hear every single car on the main road of George St. The only plus side is the location is excellent and the pricing is good.

Checked in really late and service was helpful. Lots of hair left around our room unfortunately, in sheets and bathroom etc. We came from a really nasty hotel stay, so we just dealt with it. Seemed clean enough otherwise. Also left a portable charger in my room by mistake, but when I called to get it back they said they didn’t have it. While it’s on me for leaving it, I’m not sure how it ‘disappeared’ when the room was cleaned. Walls are thin and on the last night there was a screaming baby next to us. Good location though, and not awful for the price. Aircon was very nice.

Cheap and cheerful but did the job perfectly for one night. Good central location, nice modern and clean room. Facilitated a check in a few hours early which was great. Friendly staff. Probably couldn’t stay for longer periods given the size but great for a night or two definitely.

Looks like those Super 8 motels in the US. Reception/registration area is small. Arrived in the morning and the room wasn't available yet. They do have luggage storage so we were able to go to our appointment that day. Requires AU $100 deposit but refundable upon check-out. I picked a room with a terrace coz I knew the rooms are small. I personally like it. Not so roomy with 2 small luggages but we were able to work around it. Importantly, the queen bed is comfy. Room is bright with wall to wall windows and a glass door leading to the terrace. They have those blinds u buy at IKEA. Room is clean. Water pressure is fantastic. Shampoo and soap lather and clean. Excellent quality hair dryer and straightener. AC and heater are both available. No coffee maker but instant coffee and an electric kettle are provided. Comes with free breakfast. It's not buffet but offers delicious and filling choices. Our flight was early and so we won't be able to use the other breakfast vouchers. They provided me a refund of AU$25 pp. Breakfast provided at the restaurant on site, Frankie & George. This is definitely way better than those Super 8 motels in the US. We spent 2 nights only in Brisbane. So this hotel served its purpose for me. Highly recommending this hotel and its on-site restaurant, Frankie & George.

When I arrived in Brisbane at 11:00 at night and walked towards to hotel that I had booked a while ago I suddenly realised that I had stayed here previously. Out of all of the hotels available in Brisbane, I had to randomly pick one that I had already frequented. It wasn't all that bad though because I certainly had not had a bad time previously, and had picked it because it was one of the cheaper options available. Okay, the rooms (or at least my room) was pretty small, but I guess that is what you pay for, so I can't really complain all that much. Hey, despite it being in the centre of the city I could hardly hear a thing from outside. If there was one little gripe it was that the rooms were a little stuffy, but then again they did have free wifi so I guess that makes everything all right (though make sure you listen to their instructions because you might discover that you have burnt through all of your allocation before you know it).
