George Hotel Brisbane

I absolutely loved this hotel. The service was friendly, the bed was super soft with 4 pillows (and a spare in the wardrobe!) and the towels and linen were good quality. There is a small cafe on the ground floor, but for the budget conscious there is a 7-11 and Woolworths Metro reasonably close. It is ideally situated and I enjoyed the easy proximity to the Brisbane City Hall and its nightly Christmas entertainment. 24hr reception is very reassuring, though I didn't need it. The air con has wall controls and does the job well, but there is no way of adjusting the fan speed (just temperature) and was a bit noisy, so I just chilled the room to cold, then switched it off, sleeping comfortably through the night. I was incredibly impressed they had a toothbrush and toothpaste kit as well as a stocked bar fridge with quite reasonably priced snacks. I was travelling solo, so was not bothered by the size of the Double Room (17 sq) and as long as the bed is comfortable, the air con is blaring and the fridge is cold am usually happy! I would recommend though for couples you get a larger room.

The reception area was absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous art deco decor with old vintage building. The room was neat and tidy, however it would have been nice to have a complimentary bottle of water in the fridge instead of having to use tap water, and the sliding door to the bedroom was very stiff and hard to open and shut. But the overall experience was wonderful. Easy check in and and checking out, staff were lovely and the location was great. We had a lovely time.

Small rooms but comfortable & clean. Located close to everything in the CBD would stay again. The only massive disappointment would be the breakfast its an extra $30pp & u go to a little cafe/restaurant next door. Food is great but theres a set menu with pre purchased breakfast. You get the choice of a meal & a small drink. But to buy any of those meals & drink is actually a lot cheaper to purchase on the morning from the actually menu. You'll save almost $10

Pros: Fast and stable Wi-Fi throughout the stay. The room had a minibar (judging by the noticeable layer of dust, it hasn’t been used much 🙂), a small refrigerator, an electric kettle, as well as tea and coffee. These small amenities made the stay more convenient, especially for more than one night. Cons: The walls are quite thin, so noise from neighboring rooms can be clearly heard, which may affect sleep if the neighbors are loud. Also, the rooms have alarm clocks that do not seem to be reset after previous guests. In one of the nearby rooms, the alarm went off every morning, which was rather disturbing.

Small room with big smart TV. Good value overnight accommodation. We booked 2 rooms (for us and a friend) to go to the QPAK theater for a show. It was in a convenient location as it was only a 15 minutes walk to the theatre. Rooms were clean, and they had a mini fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, and iron and ironing board if needed. Note that access to car parking underneath is very tight, and so only suited to small cars (or motorcycles). Though I understand there is alternative parking nearby.

We stayed at the hotel for just one night. The room was a bit small, but if you don’t mind limited space, it may suit you well. Breakfast the next day next to the lobby amazed us a lot. You can enjoy a traditional Aussie breakfast, such as Eggs Benedict. Last but not least, don’t forget to have a cup of flat white! 😇

Good location but that’s about it for the hotel. The rooms are so cramped that after coming to the hotel after five days camping in a tent, we missed the tent. Once we put our bags in there was barely any space to move around and we kept having to move stuff around to navigate the room or when we wanted to exit the room. The WiFi does not work in the rooms, neither does the streaming. The bathroom was clean but no space to put anything. Had to leave toiletries on the desk rather than in the bathroom. The pictures on their marketing make the rooms look much bigger than they are.

Spotless rooms, very comfortable beds and quality linen and towels. Rooms not very disabled friendly, as the space not easy to navigate with walking frame or wheelchair. The absence of a microwave or any way to heat food was a let down. The staff overall were helpful and resolved a couple of issues in a prompt and appropriate way. The manager, Andrea, was considerate and diligent in managing said issues. Would stay again

Looks like those Super 8 motels in the US. Reception/registration area is small. Arrived in the morning and the room wasn't available yet. They do have luggage storage so we were able to go to our appointment that day. Requires AU $100 deposit but refundable upon check-out. I picked a room with a terrace coz I knew the rooms are small. I personally like it. Not so roomy with 2 small luggages but we were able to work around it. Importantly, the queen bed is comfy. Room is bright with wall to wall windows and a glass door leading to the terrace. They have those blinds u buy at IKEA. Room is clean. Water pressure is fantastic. Shampoo and soap lather and clean. Excellent quality hair dryer and straightener. AC and heater are both available. No coffee maker but instant coffee and an electric kettle are provided. Comes with free breakfast. It's not buffet but offers delicious and filling choices. Our flight was early and so we won't be able to use the other breakfast vouchers. They provided me a refund of AU$25 pp. Breakfast provided at the restaurant on site, Frankie & George. This is definitely way better than those Super 8 motels in the US. We spent 2 nights only in Brisbane. So this hotel served its purpose for me. Highly recommending this hotel and its on-site restaurant, Frankie & George.

When I arrived in Brisbane at 11:00 at night and walked towards to hotel that I had booked a while ago I suddenly realised that I had stayed here previously. Out of all of the hotels available in Brisbane, I had to randomly pick one that I had already frequented. It wasn't all that bad though because I certainly had not had a bad time previously, and had picked it because it was one of the cheaper options available. Okay, the rooms (or at least my room) was pretty small, but I guess that is what you pay for, so I can't really complain all that much. Hey, despite it being in the centre of the city I could hardly hear a thing from outside. If there was one little gripe it was that the rooms were a little stuffy, but then again they did have free wifi so I guess that makes everything all right (though make sure you listen to their instructions because you might discover that you have burnt through all of your allocation before you know it).
