We recently had the pleasure of visiting the Georgetown Loop Railroad in Georgetown, Colorado, during their Fall Festival, and it was an unforgettable experience for our entire family! This charming and scenic train ride is the perfect way to enjoy Colorado’s stunning autumn colors, and we couldn’t have chosen a better time to go. The aspens were at their peak, with golden leaves shimmering in the sunlight, making for some truly spectacular views.
The kids had an absolute blast! The Fall Festival had something for everyone, especially the little ones. They were thrilled to receive treats and candy at different points throughout the day, which definitely kept them smiling. They were also excited to pick out their very own free pumpkins, which added a festive touch and made for some wonderful family photos.
The ride itself is about 1.5 hours round trip, which we found to be just the right amount of time. It gave us plenty of opportunities to soak in the beautiful scenery without feeling too long for the kids. The train cars are open-air, which adds to the experience and lets you fully enjoy the crisp mountain air. However, I would definitely recommend dressing warmly, as it can get quite chilly, especially during fall. We layered up, and it made a big difference in our comfort.
Overall, I can’t say enough good things about our experience at the Georgetown Loop Railroad Fall Festival. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the activities were engaging, and the scenery was breathtaking. If you’re looking for a family-friendly fall outing in Colorado, this is a must-do! We’re already looking forward to coming back next year.
