"Just 45 minutes west of Denver, a trip on the historic Georgetown Loop Railroad feels like traveling 150 years back in time. This railroad route was originally built to connect the mining towns of Georgetown and Silver Plume (which are just a few miles apart) through a steep, narrow, and scenic canyon. Corkscrewing up more than 600 feet in elevation and traveling across four separate bridges, it’s an 1880s marvel of engineering that survives today for guests to enjoy. In the fall, this railway offers seasonal promotions like "Autumnfest," which includes free beer samples from local breweries." - Travel + Leisure Editors
Great experience! I wished it had better views. The little plastic animals and such could be left out. I don't feel like it added to the experience. The Silver Plume depot is very small with parking on the side road next to the highway. So be prepared to walk. Get there 30-40minutes early so you can print your boarding passes and line up. There isn't really a bad seat on the train for views.
They are very accommodating for anyone with wheelchair or other accessibility issues.

Don't expect Polar Express but this is a great experience for the whole family. Go during the week or don't go at all.
It's a 40 min ride and 40 min return and 10 mins at a basic station with restrooms. No restrooms on board.

It's a one hour ride if you want to extend the experience do the mining excursion, it's a good memory maker if you want a family trip, there's a lot scenic views for photos.

I've done the fall colors train twice, the silver mine tour, and the Christmas lights train as well. Huge fan of this loop. Great quick day trip from Denver. The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. I suggest an afternoon or early evening train to avoid traffic on the highway. Absolutely worth the price!

I took a retirement community to ride the train. They absolutely loved it, it is all they are talking about. They really enjoyed when Santa walked in to our car. He came and visited with us. It surly was a great time.

Nice little train ride with the kids. The visit with Santa and Hot Chocolate really sealed the experience. Very Friendly staff and very clean destination.

Kind of a basic train ride, but still very pretty. If you’re going when it’s cold bundle up! Would it be nicest had a little bit more to offer where we stopped but it was very beautiful!
