The Georgia Sports Museum celebrates the state's athletic legends with engaging exhibits and interactive fun, perfect for families and sports fans alike.
"Tribute to Georgia's Sports History A museum devoted to sports has the potential to be dull, particularly if you're not an avid sports fan, but Macon's Georgia Sports Hall of Fame is much more. The Hall of Fame is the nation's largest state sports museum. It started as a way to honor the athletes to come out of and impact the state. Past inductees include baseball greats Hank Aaron, Jackie Robinson and Ty Cobb, former Atlanta Braves coach Bobby Cox, golfer Bobby Jones, boxer Evander Holyfield and many others. The museum has items from athletes, mementoes from the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and information on the longstanding rivalry between the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech football teams."
This is a pretty cool place for sports fans in Georgia. I never knew that so many professional athletes were here and traveled abroad. My favorite exhibit was dedicated to Charlie Ward, who went to my college, Florida State.

This is a great place! We were treated by Janet, she was so amazing. You could tell she really enjoys her job, and she even gave the kids scavenger hunts to earn a prize, and suggested other places to go after our visit ( which we did! Thank you Janet!). I definitely want to return with my husband to this hall of fame. It’s very family friendly and has the upmost exceptional staff.

Not as good as the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. All the kids interactive equipment seems outdated and worn out. Not too big and not many one of a kind pieces. The Texas one was also free for military, this one is not.

Loved the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. You see everything from a football to a tennis outfit. Super fun. It even has an area for basketball. Worth the trip to Macon. My nephew and I enjoyed it. Right across from Tubman Museum

I took my boy to a b-day party for his classmate turning 9. Really cool place for kids. They all seems really entertained and they had plenty to keep them busy for a while. Meanwhile... all the adults could walk around and read about all the sports greats and even try their hands at some trivia. Great place!

Dangerous area. Daily car break in’s happening for the last month in the parking lot. Would NOT leave your car here.
Last night 6 cars were hit.

I went on a whim with my grandparents and loved every minute of it! The staff was friendly and I learned so much about the sports scene in Georgia. There were also plenty of interactive things to do within.

Yelp
Docents we're knowledgeable. Theater that had the historical points of GA in film format was very helpful.
Great backgrounds and pics. Loved the interactive portion of the museum as well as their addition of the college and high school athletes.

Yelp
The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame is a great museum for young children and young at heart.
My nine year old and I had a marvelous time pretending to be NBA basket ball players. In my mind, I was Kevin McHale shooting the ball into the basket to score the win for the Boston Celtics.
There is a race car for imaginary driving for race car fans.
The very best was a section where we were pretend to be sport announcers. A clip of vintage sports footage plays on a screen in front of the viewer. The original broadcast plays. The player is able to use the microphone to read the teleprompter and recreate the playback of the footage. Finally, the player listens to their voice announcing the play by play of the game being
viewed. This was a hoot since it is actually challenge to speak fast enough to follow the teleprompter. I was Harry Caray announcing the baseball game for the Chicago Cubs.
And my daughter laughed and laughed.
The museum also holds free movie nights for middle Georgia children. Especially great, last winter the museum had a free showing of the movie, Polar Express and sold hot chocolate and popcorn to benefit the local children's hospital.

Yelp
Was super excited to visit this place but it was not big at all. Hopefully the admission price is donated to the state. I would say it was not worth the $9 to get in. They do have a movie theater and was playing a movie that was kind of cool but the rest of it was a little on the light side.

Yelp
This was our first visit. It was a little smaller than I thought it would be. However we found it very inspirational. All of the exhibits were great. My kids loved the interactive area. One or two of the interactive exhibits didn't work and needed to be maintenanced. We understand this happens anytime a lot of people are using something frequently. The building itself was beautiful. We all learned a lot. It was also very affordable. We will probably visit again at some point.

Yelp
I visited on June 7,2013. I really enjoyed it! The staff were really helpful on directing us to the different areas and even gave us a map. It is kid friendly and even has some interactive things to do on the 2nd floor. I would recommend going!
