Georgian Townhouse (Hotel)

Having booked a table for 4 people on 20th February 2026 before seeing a show at the Theatre Royal, we looked on line to view the menu, we saw the fixed Winter Warmer menu for 2 or 3 course available until 27th February 2026, on our arrival we were seated with the main menu, we asked for the Winter Warmer menu, to our surprise, we were told it had finished and had no ingredients for that particular menu. Unfortunately the food from the main menu was very bland. Sorry to say we definitely won't return and couldn't recommend.

I am staying here now. Lovely place can not believe the barman completely ignored me how rude. Only one other person at the bar whom had already been served. The place is ok but a little tired. Food was great and female staff really caring.

This is such a fantastic hotel. Actually one of the best roo s IV stayed in. The room was really cosy, clean and had everything you need. The bed was extremely comfortable. The price was really really good. The location was perfect short walk Into the city. We also are it the restaurant and the food was delicious. Service was quick and the waitress was lovely. Highly recommend.

The restaurant was excellent. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxing. Everything we ordered was delicious, and we would absolutely dine here again.

We booked the Georgian Townhouse for our wedding meal. We had to give a pre-order menu two weeks before the event, which was fine. We were allowed to go the day before to decorate the private room we booked. We were told there were speakers to put our own music. All fine until we went the day before to decorate the space, the tables were dirty (I had to go to get a wet cloth to clean them myself), the floor was dirty and sticky and the toilets were dirty too. I thought they would clean it on the day before our arrival with our guests.|The next day we got married at the register office and went for our meal to the Georgian Townhouse and it was awful. Floor and toilet still dirty. Just on arrival they tell me they had to change the menu and I had to go myself guest by guest to write down what they wanted to eat, when we already did a pre-order two weeks before as requested. When we were about to connect our playlist we were told the speakers were not working (really!?!?!). On the new menu there were tempura shrimp, a few people ordered them. They were served battered shrimp, not tempura at all. The meat was dry.|It was such an awful experience considering it was our wedding day and we had family coming from different parts of the World.|I made a complain, and still today I haven't heard from them. Awful communication. I wouldn't recommend them at all. |I am not the kind of person that writes reviews, but this experience was not good at all.

My friend booked a table as a birthday treat for me. She booked the table a month prior, had a phonecall a few days prior to arrange a birthday cake. She never heard back regarding the cake. On the day, we arrive and the table has been cancelled! The man at the lecture was unsympathetic, insinuating that we cancelled it, then said to come and find him in 40 minutes. The bar staff were rude and very stressed. We waited 45 minutes, then gave up. Very poor customer service and not what I was expecting from such an apparent nice place. I'm glad we didn't get a table now as the atmosphere was stressed and unprofessional and I will ot be recommending it. My friend travelled 2 hours to see me for this special treat and you know what, they never even apologized, prob still assuming they were not at fault. Even if we can prove it.

I’d like to thank the lady at reception this evening (9th Feb) for upgrading me to such a lovely suite, the St Giles, in the Georgian Apartments. I was blown away by the styling. I really felt I’d stepped back in time. It is beyond amazing. It made my day ❤️ Thank you also for going out of your way to accommodate my request for a room with a tub. That was truly kind.

My husband and I chose to stay in The Georgian Townhouse for a couple of nights to meet up with old friends, and one of the reasons we chose this venue was because of the real ale advertised. When we arrived after a long journey we were greeted with the fact that there were no real ales on tap until the following Friday when we would be home! So that was not a good start! We ended eating there that night because everywhere else appeared booked. The food was not good, quite tasteless and again disappointing. I had the fish pie. ||||We had one of the apartments across the road that was pleasingly decorated and was welcoming. We slept well, but were disappointed with the bathroom that had nowhere to put anything down, even the towels! It was not easy getting in and out of the deep bath to access the toiletries that were fixed high for people wanting showers, so not too good for older people!||||The Sunday morning was the morning after a wedding party and we were virtually ignored in the breakfast room. We were served tardily with cold breakfasts and much of the cold buffet had gone. We arrived at a normal time, not near the time breakfast is no longer being served. There was obviously not enough staff to cook and serve breakfast. That was the final straw and we complained to the receptionist, who was the only really pleasant thing about our stay. She was personable and genuinely concerned that our stay had been a disappointment and she said she would pass it on to management. But we have heard nothing! We also noted that the outdoor dining and drinking space was very badly maintained with the tables on the muddy sparse grass. No one had swept the leaves up for weeks and it showed!||||So all in all, not the best experience and not something we would do again.
