Wife and I were discussing dinner for a Thursday night and I was thinking of something new-to-us on the Square or Fish City (a favorite). I started investigating Georgie's. My only hesitancy was the available pictures and the place looked a little "sterile". We decided on Georgie's and I am glad we did. First, the place is not "sterile" and we really liked the layout and vibe. The customers were a wide range of ages and we decided we were the oldest people there. Greeter was extremely nice and we chose to sit at one of the high-top tables.
Our server, Beth, then comes over to greet us. Beth is an excellent and personable server. We enjoyed talking with her. Wife and I grew up in the South and have eaten fried green tomatoes all our lives. Wife said they were the best she had ever eaten and came to the table hot. I also thought they were delicious.
My oyster po boy was very good and wife enjoyed the the chicken and farro. The entire meal was a great experience. The owners were working the tables and checking-in on the guests. They were flying under the radar and I asked if he was the owner. Later, the manager, a rather young fellow, comes over to our table. It was all a nice touch.
Finally, Georgie's is an excellent addition to the Square and rivals our other favorite restaurants on the Square....Wildfire and Blue Corn Harvest. We will definitely be back and will ask for Beth.
