Great place to try out. I asked for lobster dinner. $49.99 included lobster and anchor salad. Great food. Staff was great.

We heard some mixed reactions about Georgie’s Restaurant in the Anchor Hotel but we were disappointed. The seafood chowder was somewhat flavourful but the broth was very thin, not at all like a chowder.. The fish cakes were terrible, with a texture of wet mashed potatoes, and just a slight fishy flavour. The burger was very thin and tasteless.

We were here in early June and were staying in The Annex up on the hill behind The Anchor Inn. Being early in the season there weren't many others around yet. Our server was great, very friendly and prompt. We ordered their "Local cod in a crispy Quidi Vidi beer batter. Served with tartar sauce, fresh lemon, house-made slaw and fries". And the dessert we got was a very tasty "NAN'S MINI PIES" -3 traditional "mini pie" shells filled with a choice of local berry compote and topped with Fussell's Cream." Unfortunately they were so tasty looking that we gobbled them down before I thought to get a picture. So delicious! The paintings on the wall were beautiful scenes of the area. Also there is a great view of the harbour!

We celebrated my daughter’s birthday at Georgie’s. We had a variety of apps including scallops with pesto, seafood chowder, beet and feta salad and the bread all were well presented, full of taste, great portion sizes. We did not try dessert no room after our apps. The restaurant is spacious, decorated lovely and a great location.

We had a wonderful dinner on our last night in Newfoundland! Georgie’s is a gem we were thrilled to find. Delicious food, gorgeous view, and friendly service. We will make every effort to go back on our next visit to the rock.

The pictures don’t do the food justice. We can’t stop thinking about the best bread and molasses balsamic brought out first, so simple and unique. We stumbled upon this place in its closing weeks, and there was a good crowd on for a Tuesday night. The one server and kitchen managed very well. I had the salmon, subbing mashed potatoes with extra vegetables that were cooked and seasoned to perfection, and my boyfriend had the burger - the fries were good. I would definitely love to come back.

Food was sub-par. Salad looked and tasted like it had been prepared a few days prior. Almonds were soft. Beet and carrots were soggy. Steak was rubbery and burger tasted like fake meat. Go somewhere else, anywhere else.
