Google
GRR is a clean, well-organized, and easy-to-navigate airport. Security lines are usually quick, and staff are friendly and professional. The terminal has a decent selection of dining and coffee options, with plenty of comfortable seating areas and charging stations. Signage is clear, making it easy to get from check-in to your gate without confusion. While the airport is smaller compared to major hubs, it offers a smooth travel experience with minimal congestion. A great option for flying in and out of Grand Rapids.

Google
This is the best airport I have ever been to. I went from checking in my bag to the gate in 15 minutes. It’s got a very spacious and calm environment with great food options and lots of natural light. Their TSA is the best in the business and you can even have a founders beer at prospect point. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could.

GT Hodge

Google
Great airport, facilities are well maintained, looks and feels new. Interesting exhibits e.g. about President Ford, and nice artwork. Easy to use “walk to” rental cars. Welcoming and helpful signage. Security checks are efficient and laid out well. The free traveler lounge areas are furnished by Steelcase and are quieter and more comfortable than most airline clubs. Bravo to the leadership and staff who created and operate the airport.

Google
Great airport, going under major renovation that they have it well-organized. Today we have to be evacuated for a fire evacuation. We don't know why for sure, but maybe a toaster caught on fire is what we heard. The staff seemed to be well-organized and got us back through security.

Martien Timmer

Google
It is a smaller easy to navigate airport. It has a few eateries. A variety of places to sit with and without tables, high seats etc. Rental car facilities conveniently just across the street. Parking across the street for easy pick up of passengers.

Kaylin

Google
Not a bad little international airport. It sure beats driving to Detroit or Chicago! The line has never been long for me to get through tsa, but I also never take red eyes- although I can’t see those being any busier. There’s a founders right after getting through which is nice, so you can relax a bit before your flight. Not much in the way of food/drinks/shopping, but there is a gift shop and a restaurant- that I’ve never eaten at 🤣.

Google
I certainly do love me some small airports and this is one of them. Everything is just so quick and all transactions are smooth. They really know how to get er done round these parts. Airport was clean as far as I could tell and no complaints.

Google
This airport is one of, if not the, nicest, best, and most accessible airports I've ever flown through. They have a sensory room in the A concourse, multiple family restrooms, and at least one adult changing station on the A concourse for disabled adult passengers and their aides. The amenities for all travelers are plentiful, with multiple food and coffee options in easy reach of all gates. TSA was quick and friendly, too!

Yelp
Not a massive airport but it's clean and modern which makes traveling easier. Plenty of eateries, bars, cafes, and shops that sell everything you need before you fly. Seating areas all have power outlets and both usb plugs so you could keep your tech fully charged. Will definitely fly here again.

Yelp
This airport in Grand Rapids was a good size and manageable. Getting through security was easy and they had some decent food options for a quick bite or sitting down and pounding a few tall boys. I didn't use baggage claim, but on a few occasions, a few airport employees asked me if I needed directions to baggage claim or something, as I guess people struggle to find their way out of the terminal. I was just moving from A to B to look for different food options (I chose Freddy's). If I was going to Grand Rapids, I'd fly into this airport again. Detroit and Chicago are too far, right?
google avatar

Paul C.

Yelp
Newly redesigned and closer to home than flying into DTW, and Grand Rapids is so much cleaner, safer and just better. There's quite a bit of construction around the airport so depending when your flights are, add 30 minutes to make sure you can deal with those delays.

Yelp
One of the smoothest and fastest airports experience I've ever had. Obviously it's not a giant airport or in a overrated city either so I'm sure that hells out a lot. Airports like LAX or MIA international are pretty hectic so flying out of an airport where you see don't feel everyone rushing to pile up in overly crowded long wait lines to check in bag or TSA is very refreshing. Today I'm flying with Allegiant for the first time. Never heard of them before so let's see how they are. I'm excited to get in the air and look down at the great state of Michigan from an altitude over 30,000 feet. Regardless of the commercial airline you choose to fly with, that priceless panoramic view comes with your ticket. Happy New Year Gerald R. Ford International Airport & God Bless everyone who labors here.

Yelp
What a charming airport! The terminals all have seating that's actually comfortable and family friendly. Additionally there are quiet areas to work, desks, high tops, and plenty of power outlets.

Yelp
Wonderful airport! I loved the modern look and feel, and found it to be so easy overall. I got a test run here when I returned my car and then had to wait for a hotel shuttle that never came. It allowed me to meander around and loved the signage, wayfinding, and cleanliness to the whole place. We arrived early the next day for a flight and the TSA was fast, the gates were nice, restrooms clean, and really it's all you want from an airport. We had considered driving back to Chicago to fly back home, but were so glad to leave the hustle and bustle behind and choose this mid-sized regional airport instead. Easy-peasy and lots of hotels to stay at around here if you need.

Yelp
GRR is a small friendly airport. The security line is always fast and short. The pre check line tends to be longer but is also an ease to get through. If you check a bag make sure to give yourself a half an hour extra as the lines can get long and they tend to move a bit slower than the rest of the airport. There are several places to grab snacks and beverages. There are a few restaurants - Ucellos, Freddie's and Madcap to name a few. I rarely arrive with enough time to enjoy because the airport is so easy to navigate but if you have a family and need to arrive early there are some options to explore.

Yelp
I flew into this airport and flew out of this airport in the same week. When I arrived in the afternoon, I came through the A gate, which was newly refurbished and literally looked brand new. It was bright, cheery, and clean. I headed to use one of the restrooms and it was light and bright and also very clean, which is a good sign. On the flight out of GRR, I also had to go to gate A. At 5 something in the morning TSA was nice and cheery. There's plenty of seating at each gate.

Yelp
Had issues with flight outs of Muskegon so I came down to Grand Rapids. Flew out on Halloween and it was great to see all the different costumes that workers were wearing. TSA was super easy to get thru and there is lots of construction going on so a little extra time is needed to get around but nothing terrible. Small enough to get through it quickly and big enough to have 737 flying out of it. Once all construction is done this place will be even better.

Yelp
I fly into GRR at least twice a year with Alligiant Alirlines and for the most part... everything is great. But flying outbound with Alligiant is horrible as they close their lines early and then act like you are the ones late even when things are timestamps but that is all on the airline vs the airport. Just know, when they say be there 2 hours early, you should be. The airport itself has been under continuous upgrades basically since I moved away from Michigan in 2007. The local is great, outside of the city but still close enough to everything that you can grab a last minute drink before leaving or grab one to celebrate that you are finally back in Pure Michigan. Honestly, one of my best memories of this place is when I brought Ben home for the first time and he saw the Welcome to Pure Michigan sign while you're about to leave the airport and he got excited so I quickly stopped and parked the car for us to take a selfie. He was worried about other cars but there was plenty of room to get around and just smiled amd said, us Michiganders won't mind!

Yelp
This airport has vastly improved since the updates. It's a lot more Modern and comfortable. Plenty of shops and food to help kill time while waiting for your flight. So far they have done a great job keeping it clean and fresh. I will note that if you're flying into GR and have checked baggage, prepare to wait. It took about an hour for me to get my bags on my last trip in.

Yelp
I arrived and departed from this airport in one weekend. My arrival was super easy. I went straight to pick up my car across the street from the baggage claim. Car rental pick up was quick. The airport is small and easy to maneuver. Departing was also very smooth. The TSA line went by pretty quickly and they were well organized. I especially enjoyed all the available seating. Some of the chairs are extra comfortable. There's outlets to charge you electronics in the seating area as well. Bathrooms are available and clean. Plenty of places to grab some food or a drink.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Airport was fresh and nicely laid out. Good selection of food options. There was a Starbucks just pas TSA that was clean and efficient. The boarding areas were fresh and clean. Construction was ongoing to improve the Grand Rapids experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Seems like a pretty nice airport to me, has a renovated feel about it. I have Clear and thus was able to effortlessly go through security. Standard fare inside the airport in terms of retail and food. Easily navegable airport.
google avatar

Nina C.

Yelp
I may be bias but I love this airport because it's small and very easy to navigate. Never busy and my check ins are quick. My only tiff is really with AA, my suitcase somehow got left behind with a handful of others from Charleston. So when I arrived I got an email about it coming on the next flight. The lady in AA didn't have much info besides an absurd time frame that it "could" arrive. But I still had a good experience coming and going from this airport. It's clean, had some renovations and additions which has made it more lively and have more food and beverage options.
google avatar

Teresa M.

Yelp
This is a pretty standard airport, without much available for dining, so eat before you get there or after ya leave. There are water fill stations available. It was quick to get get through security. The car rentals are easy to access for both pick-up and return. The layout is easy to navigate and agents were friendly.

Yelp
I last reviewed GRR nine years ago as the airport was going through its first renovations and enhancements since moving to Grand Rapids from Chicago. Since then GRR has continued to improve and expand its operations with the recent completion of the expanded concourse A . Concourse A is just one step in the multi year elevate program which will see a number of expansion projects to be completed. The one I am waiting for personally is finally being able to use the international part of Gerald R Ford International airport. Currently only for private jet passengers , GRR has plans to expand this to all passengers within the next few years . The airport is a breeze to check in , get through security and get to your gate . New food options continue to open which has been from some reviewers an issue in the past . TSA are always polite and courteous which is a big plus compared to some airports . This airport clearly has the right management and vision in place and is doing all the right things to make this a great place to fly in and out of . As someone who travels frequently to many different airports I feel lucky to have this as my home base .

Yelp
What can I say about this airport. We arrived after midnight, due that our flight was held up so everything was closed. I wish we had arrive earlier then we could have had dinner in the airport before taking off in our rental car/uber. From when we caught our connecting flight till when we arrived 3 hours later due to a delayed flight the price of Uber went down $50. So instead of paying $100 we only had to pay $50. That was a blessing. Another good thing was they didn't lose our luggage.
google avatar

Dee W.

Yelp
Easy airport to get in and out of there were not many restaurants to choose from, the food was good at the one I ate at. It was clean in the restrooms overall satisfied.
google avatar

Tom G.

Yelp
It's pretty typical of an American regional airport. Mid sized and efficient. Our experience was limited to landing lounge & bathrooms... Plus the appearance along our walking path to the street side where we were met by local folks. I'd say despite our superficial experience... We have seen enough to render an initial opinion that it's A-OK. We have seen worse fer sure elsewhere.

Yelp
I fly in and out of this airport somewhat frequently, as its my hometown! So often, when visiting family or other occasions, I find myself at Gerald Ford. It's a smaller airport, which is nice and does mean that lines are never too long and it's easy to navigate, I believe only two terminals, though I always fly from the same one. TSA is always a breeze and the arrival pick up area is never too bad. It could use some hygiene improvements in the bathrooms, but I have also been in worse. Also, luggage tends to take a hot minute. Overall, great little airport that is easy to get in and out of!
google avatar

Doll F.

Yelp
A clean, efficient, airport with decent food options and an easy to access rental car area. The TSA agents were friendly and helpful. Looking forward to flying into this airport in the future!
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
It has been 4 years since my last flight out of GRR. There have been some changes since then. The security line had moved to a more central location and is much more straight forward and a breeze to go through. My gate was easy to find. It looks like they are building another terminal too. My flight was on time. Everything moved efficiently and was easy to find. The whole experience to and from was great. Overall a 5 star review.
google avatar

Yelp
TSA and GR police response time is about 30-45min. Thank you for your safety GRR. I'm sure I'll be on the additional screening list permanently for posting this but at least I'll know there is actual security at this airport when I'm on line. Today there was none and it was disturbing.

V M.

Yelp
I asked for help from an employee walking through for directions for wheelchair assistance. She didn't know and told me go to the general office or over here up there or in there and walked away. I did it myself and suffered for it. This is no place for the handicapped.
google avatar

Lindsey K.

Yelp
Small airport but still with many options to fly to, many direct flights as well. Because of the size it is quick to get in and through security. Not a lot of food options though.
google avatar

Tara B.

Yelp
It's one of those micro regional airports that if you are catching the 5:30am flight out of, they don't open the counter till almost 4am; and Starbucks doesn't open till 4:15am. Friendly people, but no need to arrive 2 hours early for the early morning flight.
google avatar

Erik M.

Yelp
TSA security lines were short and was easy to get through. Bagel place across from Gate B3 did not have anything from the menu available. They did have a nice selection of hot sandwiches. They had cold cut sandwiches in the refrigerated display but they did not look good at all. Lady manning the counter didn't seem to be happy about being at work. If you don't get something to eat before heading over to this airport, there aren't any appetizing food options.
google avatar

Jeff N.

Yelp
I was impressed. Must be fairly new. Clean and well maintained. Rentals right across from the terminal. Great food options. Easy to navigate Even TSA was pleasant and efficient
google avatar

Amos S.

Yelp
Y'all thought El Paso Airport was small? Well, there's smaller. Not by much though. To be honest, this was nearly the same size. Which to be honest, makes it sort of better? Regardless of time or day, it's unlikely you'll ever be so far behind in line that you miss your flight. Even with TSA Pre Check, the regular line had maybe 2 people. So no matter what, you'll get to where you're going in reasonable amount of time. Few spots to eat. Few shops to buy airport priced stuff. In and out. Nothing fancy.
google avatar

Grisel S.

Yelp
For being a smaller airport, GRR is fantastic! It took me absolutely no time at all to go through the security line and the staff were friendly. There are a limited number of bars/restaurants here but it checks the boxes to get your belly full before a flight. The only draw back is the restaurants in the airport only exist beyond the security checkpoint. So don't plan to have lunch or dinner with a friend who is dropping you off. I arrived an hour early (essentially 3 hours before my scheduled flight) to give us an hour for dinner, only to find that we weren't able to eat together. Besides that one drawback, I love this airport and choose it every time I visit kalamazoo. I just rent a car and drive to kalamazoo from here. It's fast, easy, and convenient.
google avatar

Melissa B.

Yelp
I love flying out of the GR airport. It's so nice to have an airport with so many flight options just a quick drive away. Security lines are typically short but I still recommend TSA pre-check to everyone because it will shorten your security wait time to literally 1-2 minutes. I like their restaurant and convenience store options here and the airport is small enough that you get to your gate in no time. My only con is that parking in the garage attached to the airport is pretty expensive but I can't really complain for the convenience.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
Super easy airport to navigate while inside and it was extremely clean everywhere I went. There were several places open for food & even a few places to grab come coffee.
google avatar

Dan P.

Yelp
A super clean, smaller airport. This is literally the cleanest airport we've seen in ages. And it boasts a free library!
google avatar

Bruce K.

Yelp
For an airport that is not a hub for any carrier, GRR is quite large. A dozen or so gates in two terminals that share the same security checkpoint. It's a decent walk from the gates to the baggage claim area! Great signage with plenty of rest rooms along the way. When I returned, it was easy to find the directions for the rental car area return garage, clear security and get to my gate. My main complaint is that they have way too many ramps. Some of them are quite steep and if you're wearing slipperly shoes, you're going to slip as I did. Watch your step and move with care. I can't even guess what these areas would be like if they got even slightly wet. The airport is close to the Interstate and major roads to get out of Grand Rapids to nearby places. It is about 20 minutes to downtown Grand Rapids. My third new airport this month! Toronto/YYZ, Kalamazoo/AZO and now Grand Rapids/GRR. [Review 11127 overall, 901 of 2019.]
google avatar

Corinne K.

Yelp
Easy, breezy, and low stress. This airport is relatively small and very easy to navigate. It's got good signage and a nice flow. The gates are close and security was a breeze, I got through in less than 5 minutes. There are a few little shops where you can buy reading material, small souvenirs, coffee, bagels, etc. I love that the gates have seats with outlets available, sure beats crawling around on the floor looking for one of the those metal plates with covered outlets. Renting a car here and finding your way in and out is also easy, it helps that everyone here is so friendly. The bright music, hand painted murals, and sparkly floors will certainly lift any traveler's mood. GRR, always a pleasure!

Yelp
The worst airport for customer service! We intended to fly home to California from GRR only to be told we couldn't fly home with our in cabin pet. There was absolutely no sympathy from the check in staff at American Airlines. They felt since our 6 month old puppy didn't look "comfortable" that it would be better to fly him via cargo. We then proceeded to the United desk where we were given a one-time pass with our puppy since we had originally flown out via United. Luckily their supervisor signed off on this because the next morning when we flew out we got rude customer service again from the United check in desk. I've never had someone talk to me that rudely and scoff and roll their eyes so much, and in front of my 3 children. I was respectful and trying my best to keep calm during all this, only to be treated so rudely. We fly regularly and I've never come across such awful and rude customer service than what I experienced at GRR. I even wrote to the airlines expressing my opinions with no action being taken. I would not recommend flying out of GRR for their lack of customer service and refusal to empathize with paying customers. I'd also like to note that we flew out of SJC with no issues in regards to our pet and were only visiting for less than 2 weeks, which means our puppy didn't grow exponentially in the time of our visit. Worst customer experience ever!!

Lisa C.

Yelp
arrived 2 hrs early as suggested. bars and food close at 7pm. then flight delayed by an hour. nothing to eat. nothing to drink. what a joke
google avatar

Susan E.

Yelp
What a horrible experience today. Delay after delay with really great weather. Airport packed with people waiting and little to no empathy/understanding from the employees.
google avatar

Vincent V.

Yelp
Haven't been to airport in good minute. So don't hate if I'm out dated lol. Some reason my bank card was not working had cash on me at less. But american does not accept only debit credit. thank God there's a kiosk that you deposit money in and prepaid card comes out right then and there. Yeah I was amazed. Checked in my bag. TSA checkpoint went fast and smooth. Found my door and was ready to start my travel home. Process to me was fast and smooth

Jared W.

Yelp
Been flying out of here for my whole life. It's quick to get though and I don't have any problems really. The food choices are just awful. Especially breakfast, I've never had a more flavorless breakfast sandwich and it's the most expensive one I've ever bought.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
I can only speak for Delta, they are the best. Everyone is very polite and act like professionals. The TSA lines are well staffed and they keep the line moving. It's not the biggest airport and I like that. The only problem is they don't really have any food vendors here, so eat before your flight. Other than that it's a nice place to fly in and out of.
google avatar

Yelp
I often forget how lucky we are to have this size airport in our city. Flying out of GRR is basically a dream compared to flying out of anywhere else, really. Getting through security has only ever taken me 15 minutes, tops. Obviously this will vary depending on day and time that you're traveling, but for early morning flights it's usually a breeze. Construction is finally done and the security area is larger with plenty of places to sit down after getting through (huge bonus in my book). There's also a new Founders bar just past security which I haven't visited yet, but it looks cool. I heard prices are airport prices, not Founders prices though, so be aware. Steelcase has sponsored a bunch of different business lounge areas which look amazing and I'm sure are wonderful for those traveling for work. The size of this airport is ideal, as it only takes 5 minutes to walk from security all the way to the last gate in the terminal. No running miles and miles, Home Alone-style, to get to your gate (unless you're late, that is). The only downsides of GRR for me are the limited outlets and the limited options for food, especially for early morning flights.

Warren L.

Yelp
Regarding Transport out of GR Ford Airport I do not know how Metro Cab got exclusive rights for picking up passengers at Gerald R. Ford Airport but they are overpriced. They charged us $40. not counting tip , whereas another taxi service charged us $26. They are also running a subterfuge by advertised under another name, Excel Taxi, which in fact is Metro Cab. Don't use these people. use Uber, Lyfe, or a cab service lasted as My Taxi. Metro Cab is BAD!

Yelp
Bottom line: GRR airport was a breeze to use. Relatively small and easy to navigate, there were no snags along the way both with flying into and flying out of GRR. Even with on going construction, I found it a nice airport to utilize. The Deets: Having to use GRR recently for a business trip, I found it pretty simple to navigate. Even with the construction going on in the airport, it was a snap to get around in. When flying in, it was easy to get to baggage claim and out to the transportation area. The temporary signage up helped a lot to get you where you needed to go, especially checking in to fly out. The check in process was smooth and no hiccups encountered. It was pretty clean also considering the construction. It's not a huge expansive airport terminal, a plus in my book. TSA was very low stress and efficient (yes, I do have PreCheck). I saw a few places to eat along the way but did not really look for their restaurant resources as I was heading right to the gate. The gate areas had plenty of room with adequate chairs provided. I like small easy to navigate airports and GRR fits the bill!

Jenna N.

Yelp
I highly recommend Grand Rapids airport, after flying out of Detroit most of my life, it is a breath of fresh air to walk into GRF airport. Super easy to get around, amazing and kind TSA workers. I love traveling because it's so easy!
google avatar

Barb L.

Yelp
The airport has no coffee shops and very little sitting areas outside of security. Not a friendly environment for picking up guest or family.
google avatar

Randy J.

Yelp
I have landed here and left from this airport on my way to Denver many times. It is a small airport and easy to get around. The airport is very clean and the staff is very friendly. The rental cars are easy to get to and it's just a great place to use.
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
I fly in and out of this airport 5-6 times a year and have never had any issues. It's on the smaller side but still has a lot of the big airport amenities. The ticket line counter can get quite busy early in the mornings so I would still plan on getting here early. The tsa precheck is sometimes longer than the regular tsa line. The airport is clean, staff I've encountered have always been pleasant and helpful. Good signage so the airport is easy to navigate for first timers. Food and drinks options are found all over the airport. My flight has never been delayed flying out of this airport. The car rental pick up and drop off is on site so you don't have to worry about shuttling somewhere for that, which is nice. 4.5/5
