Nestled in a historic naval complex, the German Resistance Memorial Center offers a gripping exploration of bravery against the Nazis, with exhibits that resonate deeply within its courtyard where resistance fighters faced execution.

"Berlin’s German Resistance Memorial Center, close to Potsdamer Platz, recounts the city’s tales of resistance against the Nazis. The center is in the Bendlerblock, a historic military building where the expansion of the German navy was planned during the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm II and the role of the German army was reassessed during the Weimar Republic. In addition, several of those involved in the July Bomb Plot to murder Adolf Hitler and bring down the Nazi regime in 1944 were executed in the building’s courtyard. Apermanent exhibition, spread across a couple of atmospheric floors, documents the bravery, as well as the diversity, of those who fought against the Nazi dictatorship."

A must see in Berlin. It shows how not all the German people fell for the propaganda.
The attendants were helpful and accommodating. The facility is well maintained.

A very good free museum, and open on a Monday. We spent at least 2 hours there (did the special exhibition and first floor) and there was still a floor remaining but we had reached our limit. Well worth a visit.

The German Resistance Memorial Museum is free to the public. A somber and formidable exhibition! A potent, powerful reminder of the evil of Nazism unleashed upon humanity. These extraordinary individuals, groups who stood up against the hate and paid with their lives. These sacred stories rise up from their graves as a stark warning to heed in these dark, tumultuous times.

Historical place and great tribute to those who tried to resist the Nazi’s at the end of the war. Amazing to be able to stand on this ground. Very well preserved as it was on July 20, 1944. Also represented in the movie Operation Valkyrie starring Tom Cruise. They used this very location in the movie. A must see when visiting Berlin, especially those interested in World War II.

An empowering & amazingly curated collection of stories & artifacts from a wide variety of resistance movements. I learned so much. I spent 3 hours absorbed in both the core & special exhibits.

Such a historic site. Just standing there and contemplating it is worth the visit. Not to mention that the free museum is packed with information. Way too much to see and read it all. Helps to have seen the movie Valkyrie beforehand.

This is a fantastic permanent exhibition on the resistence to Nazism and how ruthless the regime was in trying to eradicate it. The focus is the failed 1944 coup, but it looks at a range of individual and small group efforts. Thoroughly engaging and the chilling realisation is that the memorial is the very place where the key conspirators in 1944 were shot. A must for those interested in the history of Germany under the Nazi regime.
