Gesthús Selfoss

Stayed for camping. The kitchen is good but lacks dishes and cooking equipment. Toilets are limited. There's noise from the nearby road at night. Otherwise, the staff is helpful, and the place is overall clean.

We only experienced the campground (campervan pitch) for a few nights. The location is great, right in the middle of Selfoss with close supermarkets, shops and several gas stations. But still, very quiet. Also close to many attractions by car. There are 2 toilets per gender outside but unfortunately those are very dirty (both men/women). So most people use the other 2 toilets inside that are cleaner (men/women also separated) and it can be pretty crowded in the bath area. 3 clean showers per gender but they are separated by a thin curtain that is also transparent so you can see your neighbours when they shower (no separate cabins). The dining room/kitchen is pleasant with several big tables, there are multiple hotplates and 2 sinks. The downside is that the stoves take ages to get hot so you have to wait so long to cook and it creates jams in the kitchen with so much people waiting… Whether you cook at 7pm or 9:30pm, the kitchen will be crowded. Overall correct but not outstanding.

We stayed in the cabins twice during our trip to Iceland. The cabins were very nice and clean and the staff were extremely helpful. We were going to miss check-in and the staff were kind enough to just leave the key at our cabin for us. Would absolutely recommend to anyone staying in the area

We stayed here one night near the end of our 2 weeks Ring Rd trip. The cabin was well kept, clean and functional. The owner let us use the washer and dryer. That was very nice. The cabin also has a small kitchenette. We would stay here again if we came back to visit Iceland.

Very basic rooms,shower fridge cooker and beds. February we visited and it was -11 at times so the jacuzzi would have been great but was not working. On the plus side the rooms are very warm,if your planning to just sleep they are great. I would recommend hire a car and travel. This area is quite central and quiet so great for setting of in the morning.

We stayed here for one night and found to be comfortable enough. Located in centre of Selfoss only minutes away from the local shops and 15 minutes drive from Kerid crater.|It’s on the camping ground offering something for all. For the price you pay can’t really complaint about the place. The staff is very polite and friendly, ample parking, cottages are big enough for a quick stay during a road trip.|When we entered the cottage we had a stale smell which eventually went away once we settled in or we got used to it. It is maintained to a good standard but could do with a bit of maintenance on door and windows. Has basic amenities for a self catering stay. We opted for the one with shower, clean with toiletries and fresh towels provided.|Every time we ran the water the sink and the drains would stink, may be could be improved.|Overall a good and comfortable stay.

Previous to staying here we were staying on the countryside, so having some civilization was amazing. The cabin we originally booked had a broken heater, and the owner upgraded us to a bigger cabin for free. On top of this we needed a late checkout time and they allowed us that luxury with no complaints. Was pleasantly surprised with this establishment, would not hesitate to stay again.

For the price and location it’s okay. It’s nothing spectacular and is just basic, however it was clean which is the most important thing. There was also a fridge, which other accomodations lacked. The doors are operated via keycode, which didn’t work at first so we had to contact a member of staff on site who gave us physical keys instead. Apart from that there was no other issues and this place is decent for a 1-2 night stay.
