Getaway Inn at Cooper's Woods

First experience for my wife and I with Put-In-Bay and Getaway Inn and both were wonderful. This was the week after Labor Day and the island was winding down their season. We experienced less crowds and a more relaxing atmosphere than the party reputation that the island seems to have during the summer. We enjoyed cooler temperatures and luckily no rain during our stay. It was perfect for us and another couple (all retirees) to enjoy the delicious breakfast provided each morning and then continue conversations (where we don't compete with loud music) in one of the intimate indoor shared spaces or outdoors by the well-maintained pool. The pool was heated but a little chilly for this time of the year. We stayed in the Forest View room and our friends were in the River Rock room next to us, both on the first floor. Our room was small compared to a standard hotel room but seemed to have everything you might need and a comfortable bed. We found the rooms to be very clean. The bathrobes provided were a nice touch. And the fresh baked cookies were very popular each evening. We were able to rent one of Getaway Inn's golf carts which provided convenient overnight parking right in front of the B&B. Our friends and ourselves enjoyed ourselves so much that we made reservations for around the same time next year.

Such a beautiful and relaxing place and location. Breakfast was made fresh daily and it was different both days. The room was clean and spacious. We were excited fans were in the room. They have golf carts to rent so took advantage of this for a reasonable price. Danny and staff were great! Will stay there again.

Attended during the 2025 PnB Road Race Reunion. Accommodations were very nice. The inn is very well maintained, with clean, comfortable rooms. My wife commented on the nice makeup mirror provided in the room. Breakfasts were very hardy and tasty. We would definitely return to the Getaway Inn.

We rented the Driftwood Suite for five days and enjoyed enormously the Inn and accommodations which were first class. Not before in all of our traveling have we experienced the individual care and attention the staff gives to breakfast: it is not a fast, serve yourself approach, but one served to you at your table. It makes for such a relaxing breakfast time without the shoulder-to-shoulder clamor at most big chain hotels. The owner is a very personable guy who enjoys conversing with the guests. Any questions that we had were answered quickly. We recommend the Getaway Inn highly.

This bed and breakfast is stunning. From the home itself to the grounds, it’s breathtaking.|The Innkeeper and staff are friendly and welcoming. The breakfasts we had in our 3 night stay were outstanding. The Inn is very relaxing and close enough to restaurants and nightlife. I recommend renting a golf cart and site seeing the whole island. We will definitely stay here again on any future visits.

Had an amazing time staying here. The grounds are beautiful. Walkable to bars and restaurants. Room was clean and spacious. The owner and staff were great. We will definitely return.

We had a wonderful time staying here; we even booked again for September. The current photos on TripAdvisor don’t do it justice. The landscaping is so much better; absolutely gorgeous and inspiring. I had the opportunity to take a photo of a fawn on the opposite side of the rear fence.

I do not generally leave a review unless a place exceeds my expectations as the Getaway inn did! I come from a European and hotel background so I am particular about places and food and service. First of all I highly recommend just taking bikes on the ferry (if you own them ) because it was an easy 10mins bike ride from the ferry landing to the Inn. Even though we arrived early Julie allowed us to checkin and leave our small backpacks in our room. Room was clean, quiet and quaint. The whole inn is beautifully decorated with historic pieces since part of this house is possibly the oldest house on South Bass Island. The back garden and salt water pool area is spectacular! We sat out there a lot and even enjoyed a campfire at night. The delicious breakfast and walk in the Cooper woods behind the inn were an added bonus. The staff is very kind and accommodating. I would strengthen the coffee but that's just me. I don't think there is a better place to stay on Put in Bay! And just a 5 mins walk into the town but far enough to not hear the bands at night. We will definitely be back.

This place is absolutely charming! From the moment we approached it I was gitty. It just has the perfect balance of whimsy and beauty that anyone would love.

Great B&B on Put-In-Bay. Our room was very comfortable, nice to have your own bathroom. The main areas are very tastefully decorated. A very large backyard with a few umbrella'd tables, a fire pit with seating and a built in pool with a number of lounge chairs. The breakfast was outstanding. A nice relaxing home for when the bars get too much.

We booked here for one night in room 7, very nice room, little cozy, but has a big in house balcony, so you can read, watch your iPad or play with your phone there while watching any activity downstairs in the main dining area. Very relaxing. The bed is comfortable, room is clean, only the tub water drain stopper seems not working. I do not know at the beginning, so i had the hot water running to the tub for a while, then i found the tub is never filled up. So i gave up the bath, and had a shower instead. I guess i run the hot water for too long, end up using up all the hot water, so i had a cool shower. not a complain, but i find it funny. I usually have bath every night as during the day i build up swelling on my leg with walking or standing due to my medical condition. The breakfast is freshly cooked for you, and we had a lovely chat with Katie. And get to know her dog Liberty. Very well behaved dog.

I'm not even sure that I can put into words how much we loved this bed & breakfast. It's gorgeous and so quiet and relaxing. The staff was phenomenal, always asking if they could help with anything and they made a great breakfast! 10/10!!!

We stayed here with a large group of people and could not say enough great things about our visit. The owner is there to greet you and is extremely nice and friendly. They have a home cooked - hot breakfast for you in the morning. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We will definitely be back!!!

This place is amazing! Very clean and tidy. Romantic setting. Breakfast was awesome and clearly homemade right then. Best bread pudding I'd ever had in my life. Comfortable beds. Would definitely recommend!

Stayed here on the 4th of July. Dan went over and above in hospitality. I did two different rooms in two nights because there wasn't one room available for both nights. He made the switch extremely easy and had the bags ready in the new room for our return. I would Def recommend this place to anyone staying on Put In Bay island.

We recommend The Getaway Inn at Coopers Woods 100%!! Everything about it is perfect! The inn is cute, cozy, clean and has beautiful ambiance. The breakfast was delicious. But most of all, we felt very welcomed and at home!!!

Beautiful and clean rooms, friendly owners and excellent breakfast. My wife and I stayed in the starry nights room. There is a big suite too where my friends stated with their kids. Very close to the downtown area. Dan was very nice and polite. Recommended stay when in the island.

Excellent stay again. Nice clean room, patio, gathering room. Very nice breakfast, hot chocolate chip cookies at midnight. Room to park our golf cart. And owner who went out of his way to help find a lost cell phone, then made a special trip to the ferry to deliver a jacket that he found we had left behind. I would definitely stay again.

We had a wonderful experience at the Getaway! Danny has created a mini-retreat for guests. Put In Bay fun is a short walk away and it was lovely to return to the Getaway to regroup and relax. Lots of room and a caring environment. Comfy beds, nice showers, and a generous and delicious breakfast each morning. We will return!

Wonderful stay at the Getaway Inn! Great food. Nice, clean, well-decorated rooms and great room/gathering area. Owner brought a forgotten cell phone to us at the ferry... above and beyond service! We will stay again!

A beautiful place with a warm and relaxing atmosphere throughout the B&B as well as the well maintained grounds. The rooms were very well appointed, decorated and super clean. Dan, the Innkeeper keeps the place immaculate and maintains a very cozy and inviting atmosphere. When we walked in the door, we were greeted with a plate of chocolate chip cookies. Dan is extremely knowledgeable about the island and was happy to guide us as we planned our itinerary for the day. Breakfast was a taste-fest on a fork! The blueberry french toast (made by Dan) was the talk of the breakfast room. I heard another guest asking for the recipe and of course Dan was happy to share it. Bottom line is The Getaway Inn is the best stay on the island, we WILL be back.

This is the best place to stay on the island. The owner is awesome. The atmosphere is relaxing and friendly, and the breakfasts are fabulous! The rooms and beds are top notch for comfort and cleanliness, and every year Danny adds something that makes it better. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!
