Gettó Gulyás

We visited Gettó Gulyás yesterday and had a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully seasoned – full of rich, authentic flavors. The restaurant itself is elegant and has a lovely atmosphere. The service was exceptionally polite and welcoming. One of the staff members even let us taste two different wines to help us decide, which was a very kind and thoughtful gesture. It’s definitely a place worth visiting. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance, as it gets quite busy.

I had a pleasant experience at Gettó Gulyás. I don’t remember the exact names of the dishes, but I ordered a meat-filled pancake from the starters and catfish from the main menu. Both dishes were good and nicely prepared. The flavors were balanced, the food felt authentic, and everything was served properly. was enjoyable and satisfying overall. The atmosphere of the place is cozy and interesting, with character and a local feel, which adds to the experience. Overall, a solid choice for trying traditional Hungarian cuisine in a relaxed setting.

I recently visited Gettó Gulyás and had a mixed experience, with some positive aspects but also notable disappointments. I tried the Hungarian Goulash 'Alföldi' Style with Sourdough Bread, which was delicious—the meat was tender and cut into small pieces, and I really enjoyed it a lot. It wasn't spicy at all, which suited me fine, though those looking for heat might want to ask for extra paprika on the side. The portion was on the smaller side, bordering on mediocre, but the quality made up for it. The assorted pickles were okay, with some being spicy (like the stuffed pepper). The Roasted Bone Marrow with Toast was okay but didn't live up to the hype I've heard from others. It was enjoyable enough, but not as exceptional as expected. Overall, the food was good, and the goulash stood out as particularly excellent. The waitstaff were respectful. One major disappointment, though, was at the end when we asked for the bill—the waiter added a 12% tip automatically without asking or mentioning it. I don't think that's appropriate; tips should be optional and based on the customer's discretion, not added silently. It left a sour note on an otherwise pleasant dinner.

Your place was found by our doughter on a Tik Tok and was a very nice surprise. Very good goulash, beef stew and the duck dish. We eat 2 days in a row as we felt like home in your location, part of the warm atmosphere and a big part of your collegue Barnus who served our table. We will definettly come back when we visit Budapest again!

This place is busy for all the good reasons. The food is fantastic, you can find all the classic Hungarian flavors, the execution is flawless and they clearly use the highest quality ingredients. They also put a lot of thought into the presentation. Everything looks appetizing with a modern touch. Now let me mention, every time we come to Budapest, we like to stop here once. It is usually a spontaneous decision. So we don't make a reservation. Yet, the waiters always find a seat for us. They did the last four times, during the busiest dinner rush. I have say: The staff's hospitality what elevates this restaurant way above many others in this area. I can recall Lajos's name, great guy, however all the others will go out of their way to assist you anyway they can. Listen to the staff, talk to them, once you do and they have an idea what you like or what you are in the mood for, they will give you the best recommendations and wine pairings. Top notch place in downtown, a must try.

Our tour guide recommended this Hungarian restaurant. It is a 30+ min walk from our hotel but the quality of the food and the over all experience is absolutely worth it! We ordered the fish stew and a duck confit. The fish soup was delicious with chunks of catfish. The duck confit with apple/walnut sauce, accompanied by three artfully placed meshed potatoes, not only was the dish eye appealing but also was very tasty. The friendly bar tender lady also served us a complementary appetizer of duck liver pate with sourdough bread, that made us felt very welcomed. The atmosphere was very pleasant. The food quality was very good. Price was reasonable. Over all, a very good value. We love the restaurant and the food! We will definitely return the next time we are in Budapest.

Absolutely fantastic experience at Gettó Gulyás in Budapest. From start to finish, everything was excellent. We started with the goulash soup, which was rich, comforting, and full of authentic Hungarian flavor. The mushroom pancakes were another highlight - beautifully prepared, flavorful, and very satisfying. For the main course, we had the beef tenderloin with sweet potato gnocchi, complemented by sundried tomatoes that added a lovely depth and a slightly tangy note to the dish. The beef was perfectly tender, and the combination worked incredibly well. To finish, we had a dessert with coffee, which was delicious and the perfect way to end the meal. The service was very good - friendly, attentive, and professional - and the venue had a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Everything came together perfectly. Gettó Gulyás is a must-visit in Budapest, and I would highly recommend it.

We visited many restaurants during our trip to Budapest, but this was the best! We would come back, but it was our Last day! Perfect goulash soup and other dishes also. Pickles are perfect addition to main course. Delicious food, tasty vine, really friendly staff. Highly recommended!
