Gewandhaus Dresden, Autograph Collection

This is our preferred hotel in Dresden due to its location, comfort, staff and amenities. I am A lifetime Marriott Bonvoy Titanium member who recognizes a hotel’s value characteristics. Just because a hotel is a Marriott property, it does not mean that it is Marriott standard worthy. The Gewandhaus checks all the boxes for my wife and me. Wonderful staff, clean & comfortable rooms, excellent location to access public transportation and The Striezelmarkt (~ 200 meters to trams & also The Striezelmarkt), and dozens of restaurants. The area around the hotel has been upgraded significantly since our last visit 2 years ago= no muddy pathways and detours due to infrastructure upgrades.||Due to a slight mobility issue, I wrote several emails to the Gewandhaus. Each email received a quick reply addressing my query. The front desk staff is great and ready to respond to any question. We had excellent housekeepers and our room was well maintained. Little extras were given to make our room more like a customized experience.||The wonderful staff in the restaurant made sure our mornings started well with the plentiful and varied breakfast buffet. We noticed that the coffee was particularly good. Robert, Nadine, and Charlotte took excellent care of us. Just wonderful people all the way around. ||My wife and I will return next year and I ‘ll make a reservation as soon as the dates become available. We look forward to seeing the smiling faces next December at the Gewandhaus. Great job with the staff and management team. Vielen Dank.

Wonderful hotel, wonderful staff! The hotel has a lot of character - high ceilings, lovely molding, old-style elevator and unique pool area. The gym was better than most and the room was the largest and best appointed (e.g., jetted tub, towel warmer) we have had during our 2-month travel across Germany. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and varied, and the location was excellent - walkable to all of old town and near restaurants and groceries. Best part - kind, efficient and professional front desk staff, and thoughtful and efficient housekeeping staff. I cannot think of a thing in need of improvement. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

This has to be one of the best hotels i have stayed in. The rooms were excellent, front desk service was awesome and everyone spoke English. The recommendations provided for sightseeing were spot on. Breakfast was excellent, lots of variety. The hotel is located very close to the city center so everything was within easy walking distance. The train station was close by, easy cab ride. The facilities were spotless.

What a great experience! This hotel is perfectly situated, right on the main square. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and I appreciate how patient they were when I stumbled around with my German! The rooms (the entire hotel) are very clean and have all the amenities you can want for.

I stayed here to celebrate my 70th birthday and visit the Christmas markets. Staff could not be more helpful if they tried. Received a complimentary birthday drink which was an unexpected surprise. Our room was on the 3 floor, clean and spacious and so quiet

This was one of the best hotels that we stayed in on our trip. The reception desk was excellent, very courteous and everyone spoke English. The rooms are excellent, very spacious, comfortable and clean. The hotel itself is beautiful. ||The best part is staying in this hotel is that its in the city center of Dresden. All of the incredible sights are within easy walking distance and highly recommended.||There is also a great variety of ethnic restaurant right next to the hotel and very easy to walk too.||All in all I would absolutely stay in this excellent hotel again. ||We were in Dresden for one day, I recommend a longer stay to get the feel of the area and it's incredible sights.||Also, the hotel is close to the train station, the cab ride was less than 10 Euros and took 5 minutes.

Great staff, great hotel, breakfast buffet was amazing! Thank you to the staff for an amazing time in Dresden. You treated my family with the best service. I travel with my family if 5 and have been all over Europe, this ranks in one of the top hotels we have been to. We will be back!

This is a beautiful hotel in a great location to shopping and restaurants. Everything is in walking distance. The Christmas Market is right behind this location. Room was beautiful and very comfortable. Staff Professional and kind. Speak Englsh ver well. Enjoyed my stay!

We stayed one night here, it is in a great location on the fringe of the old city, allowing one to have silence at night but walk to the action in the daytime. There is a convenient dirt lot across the street to park. The rooms were very nice quality and the place had a historic renovated feel, it used to be the "cloth hall" merchant center. Nice service and a nice modern feel in the lounge, it was fairly quiet and not highly occupied even in June, reasonable prices.

At first appearance, this is a very fancy, nice hotel. It's in a great location easy walking distance from all the sites to see in Dresden. It has a parking lot directly across the street so you don't need to pay an arm and a leg for valet parking like other hotels. They had a very nice breakfast buffet, very similar to every other German hotel we stayed at during our 8-day trip through Germany. They also have a very nice swimming pool in the basement. My three main complaints with Gewandhaus were: 1. Terrible WiFi. We could not get WiFi signal in our room and had to go out into the hallway with a clearer line-of-sight to the lobby to get any signal at all. 2. Water temp fluctuations. Neither the sink faucets nor the showers did a very good job of mixing the incoming hot and cold water, so you had the strange sensation of feeling both scalding hot and freezing cold water at the same time, and the temperature of the water fluctuated while we were taking our showers. 3. Not connected to Marriott computer system? None of the room preferences we entered when making the reservation in the Marriott website were received at the hotel. We requested one room with a a king and one room with separate twin beds for my two sons, and we requested a feather-free room since my wife is allergic to down. They didn't get either of those requests. They were happy to oblige and quickly separated the beds in my sons' room and got foam pillows for my wife, but they said they were not aware of those requests before we arrived.
