I usually don’t leave hotel reviews on Google Maps, as I prefer to provide feedback through the hotel’s own survey. However, I felt compelled to share my experience with this exceptional Marriott property—it truly stands out in every way. Mr. Mick gave us a warm welcome and generously upgraded us to a room with a private sauna, which made our stay even more special. The hotel exudes luxury, blending historical architecture with beautifully renovated interiors. The staff are genuinely kind and attentive, the restaurant is excellent, and the bakery is simply delightful. If you’re visiting Dresden, staying at this hotel is a must. The swimming pool area is also beautifully designed—spotlessly clean and decorated in calming tones that make it a perfect place to unwind. They didn’t just upgrade us as Platinum Elite members—they truly went above and beyond expectations. The level of hospitality we experienced at Gewandhaus Dresden was exceptional and left a lasting impression. Following our stay there, we visited the Marriott in Prague, but Gewandhaus had already set the bar so high that we found ourselves wishing we could have extended our time in Dresden instead. This property redefines what a luxury Marriott experience should feel like.

From the moment we walked in and were greeted at the front desk, we were welcomed and the staff were happy and very polite and attentive. The hotel was lovely. It was elegant and had old world charm. High ceilings and huge crown molding and gorgeous doors. The pool is large and had a sauna and fitness center. All very nice.

This is the way it should be. Next to a perfect location and a wonderful building, I experienced a very warm welcome at the reception desk. The staff was very helpful to all their guests and really does their best to serve you.|The room was clean and neat, they foresee a turndown service and amenities are sufficient. Coffee and water was complentary in my superior room. Large parking lot nearby, good breakfast, city maps and umbrellas available. Recommended

The architecture of the hotel is BEAUTIFUL - the size of the room was good. BUT the smell due to the carpet in the room was hard to deal with. They should get rid of the carpets. The tub is super high so if you are short like myself - you need to be careful getting in & out. Walking distance to all the major sites in the city.

I love this hotel. It's a real gem. It's in a great location has spacious rooms and bathrooms along with the common areas. It's also very good value for money and has a fascinating history. But best of all are the excellent staff. In particular Alexander and Corin on the front desk. They were incredibly helpful throughout our stay.

This is an excellent hotel. It's in a great location and has a fascinating history. The rooms (and bathrooms) are spacious and comfortable as are the common areas. The attention to detail is excellent. The staff are also extremely welcoming and helpful particularly Alex and Corin on the front desk.

Quality property with professional and friendly staff. Totally accommodating and considerate to guests. Restaurant selection for breakfast is superb. Location is ideal for transit and walking. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby with historic sites minutes away. Room was comfortable and good size for the two of us. Going back…

The hotel is more of a good 3* in terms of facilities, definitely not a 5* Unfortunately, the room was in very poor condition - the toilet control did not fit, the curtain rail was peeled off, which made it difficult to shade, I was given a blanket with a hole in the bed linen. I reported everything to the reception, unfortunately I did not receive an apology. At the same time, I was told that they did not have a room to change - even though it was available on booking. Our room also had a view of the construction site - fortunately there was no noise from it during Easter. As for other hotel facilities, we used the pool. Unfortunately, not all the facilities worked here - jacuzzi, heating etc. At the same time, it happened that the sauna was not turned on or that the drinks ran out and no one refilled them. The only thing that seemed okay to me was the breakfast. But I wouldn't say it was fantastic, just up to the standards of a 5* hotel. Small variety of pastries, no spreads, no desserts... At the same time, I would expect that if you live near a construction site, someone would warn you. I did not find this information anywhere on the website before arriving, nor did the sales representative warn me over the phone. I would not visit this hotel a second time.

Yelp
We stayed one night here, it is in a great location on the fringe of the old city, allowing one to have silence at night but walk to the action in the daytime. There is a convenient dirt lot across the street to park. The rooms were very nice quality and the place had a historic renovated feel, it used to be the "cloth hall" merchant center. Nice service and a nice modern feel in the lounge, it was fairly quiet and not highly occupied even in June, reasonable prices.

Yelp
At first appearance, this is a very fancy, nice hotel. It's in a great location easy walking distance from all the sites to see in Dresden. It has a parking lot directly across the street so you don't need to pay an arm and a leg for valet parking like other hotels. They had a very nice breakfast buffet, very similar to every other German hotel we stayed at during our 8-day trip through Germany. They also have a very nice swimming pool in the basement. My three main complaints with Gewandhaus were: 1. Terrible WiFi. We could not get WiFi signal in our room and had to go out into the hallway with a clearer line-of-sight to the lobby to get any signal at all. 2. Water temp fluctuations. Neither the sink faucets nor the showers did a very good job of mixing the incoming hot and cold water, so you had the strange sensation of feeling both scalding hot and freezing cold water at the same time, and the temperature of the water fluctuated while we were taking our showers. 3. Not connected to Marriott computer system? None of the room preferences we entered when making the reservation in the Marriott website were received at the hotel. We requested one room with a a king and one room with separate twin beds for my two sons, and we requested a feather-free room since my wife is allergic to down. They didn't get either of those requests. They were happy to oblige and quickly separated the beds in my sons' room and got foam pillows for my wife, but they said they were not aware of those requests before we arrived.
