We love this place ! Our most favorite dish is blackened shrimp. I’m glad they are consistent with this one dish😁 But slightly disappointed today with their new bruschetta recipe, it literally tasted like dessert 🫣bread and jam. I miss the earlier version of bruschetta. We also ordered blackened salmon with spinach Which was kind of okay, Not the best. Tiramisu for dessert was good. Service and atmosphere is always cheerful and welcoming, so we love visiting this place.

We made a reservation and were seated right away upon arrival. We started with the classic Caesar salad and the Tuscan shrimp—the shrimp was especially delicious and something I’d definitely order again. For entrées, we had the Chicken Piccata and the wild mushroom spaghetti. Both dishes were full of flavor and beautifully done. For dessert, we tried a new item not listed on the menu that featured raspberries—it was absolutely delicious. The drinks were great, and the service was attentive, friendly, and professional. Gia Mia is a perfect spot for a date night—cozy, flavorful, and welcoming.

Want to share our experience with this place tonight. My wife brought up this place a couple weeks ago and she decided to make us reservations in advance to make sure we can get in before it was all booked up. One of my daughters was coming in from SC and my other from downtown Chicago since they are both on spring break. We arrive 10 minutes before our reservation at 745 pm and we didn’t get seated till 815 pm, they had told us they were running a few minutes behind but not 30 minutes lol. We finally get seated and we can tell this place was busy, so we tried to make as easy as possible for our waitress to make sure she wasn’t overwhelmed. We ordered drinks and appetizers and our dinner quickly. Appetizers were good, dinner was good but our drinks came out late. We felt like our Service was rushed and that she was trying to do too much. If we decided to come back out we need to avoid there rush hours or maybe come during the week when it’s not busy. Hopefully we have better luck next time.

The food is decent, certain dishes just lack flavor. The service might be more friendlier, but I enjoy the atmosphere and aesthetics.

Google
Food is very good and they have amazing servers. Maybe made a wrong decision for a rehearsal dinner place. They get too busy, and there's no privacy area. We used three long tables at the back. But other than that, they did well. They tried to accommodate us with our big party and that is more than enough. Definitely would recommend them for date night and small intimate dinner party.

Google
This is an excellent Italian restaurant, all the food we ordered wereamazing, the taste is very good. The service by the staff is attentive despite it being quite busy. Recommendations are definitely recommended! We loved the decor of the restaurant, very classy with a great atmosphere. There were 9 of us and everyone loves the food that they ordered. Every dish is good, absolutely no complaints! Plus great desserts!

The food is fresh and full of flavor, with a nice variety of dishes to choose from. The prices are fair, making it a good option for both casual dinners and special nights out. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with a charming decor that adds to the experience. The service is friendly and attentive, making sure you have everything you need. Whether you’re in the mood for pasta, pizza, or dessert, this restaurant is sure to please. Definitely worth a visit.

Love this Italian restaurant, like the red brick interior walls give a different and good vibe. It has one of the best outdoor seating in Naperville, especially good for summer afternoon. They have a great selection of cocktails. A great please for friends to hang out

Yelp
Everything on the menu is sooo good! Service is good. They do book up fast so I definitely recommend making reservations even on week days.

Yelp
9,000 mile foodie road trip. Came to try the lunch special. Had so much potential. Not super crowded but pizza came our borderline raw in middle like they were rushing to turn over tables. Sopresatta pizza and beet faro whipped ricotta salad. Salad had a solid blend of flavors. Left some of the pizza. Server was very nice

Yelp
We had a really great host throughout our visit -- friendly and helpful, even recommending a few dishes when we asked. We started with the calamari, which was good, though I wish it had been a bit crispier. The prosciutto and fig bruschetta was also tasty, but the fig ended up overpowering the whole bite after a while. The highlight was definitely the Mediterranean Shrimp Pasta -- packed with a variety of flavors and easily the best dish we tried. Our drinks were great too! I had one with elderberry flavoring, which was unique and refreshing, and the other was a classic Old Fashioned with cherries that was well-balanced and smooth.

Yelp
Gia Maria is located in the former Naperville library on Washington street. The outside looks just like the former Nichols library. Unfortunately the inside has little resemblance to the library except for a few books behind the bar. The restaurant features seating out front on the patio along Washington Street. There is also seating inside and among the bar area. The inside is rather loud as an open space. The space was also quite smoky from food prep, perhaps pizza. Outside area is nice for conversation and people watching. The menu features a large selection of wines. There is also a full bar for cocktails. As for food, there are ample areas of starters, pasta selection and pizzas. Plus there are some fish and meat dishes. The salmon dish was solid. The pizzas were a good size. And the pasta with pepper m, chicken, mushroom and more had good flavor. I just wish the pasta was a bit warmer. The menu also features a selection of desserts including sorbets, tiramisu, cheesecake and more. Worth a stop in for dinner or lunch. Restaurant open from 11-9pm Sunday through Thursday m. Open till 10 Thursday through Sunday. Pro tip: make reservations.

Yelp
Great Italian option in downtown Naperville, we ordered various specialty pizzas, chicken pasta and desert, good service and atmosphere. Thanks

Yelp
This is the 2nd time I've had Gia Mia but the first time I've been to the Naperville location. This location seems to be more family friendly compared to the Downers Grove one. The space itself was OK. It was hard to find, you have to really search for the 'Gia Mia' sign if you aren't familiar with this location. The inside was very cramped and loud. During my time here I felt as if conversations were bouncing off the walls. It was difficult to hear the people I was having dinner with. I left with a headache wanting to get a break from how noisy it was. Service throughout was great. Everything was timed out well and our server was attentive and friendly. My husband and I shared food and they split the pasta entree. This made it easier for us to enjoy without having to go back and forth with 1 plate. We tried the spaghetti carbonara and the pepperoni pizza. Both were pretty good. I'm not sure I'd order either item again but I'm glad I tried it. 1 of my friends ordered the beet kale salad which I also tried. I would order the beet salad in the future. It was delicious and well balanced! For dessert I had the pistachio gelato and it was 1 of the better ones I've had! The portion was generous and reasonably priced. Overall the evening went well. I'd go back but only if someone coordinated the plans for this location. This 1 won't be my usual Gia Mia spot.

Yelp
Great pizzas, atmosphere and food! You have to order the short rib gnocchi and a pizza! Especially on Mondays when pizzas are 1/2 off! It's crazy here in Mondays make sure to call for a reservation just in case. Great place to dine, large portions and busy atmosphere!

Yelp
Beautiful interior at Gia Mia - especially the bar! Came here for an early dinner and we were seated right away. Any more time on a Sunday night and we would have needed a reservation - it was packed by the time we left! - Brussel sprouts side - soft, stronger garlic flavor - Cauliflower side - came marinated with softer green olives, with some pine nuts, cooked very well and slightly charred Presentation for vegetable sides came in small personal sized iron cast like pans - so cute! - Pear and arugula - subbed for kale, easily the best dish, kale was well marinated and massaged, came with pecans and pears that were slightly sweet but wasn't soggy - the goat cheese made this a good winter salad - Eggplant parmesan - standard! I think this would have been even better if it had more sauce to counter the dry breaded. Appreciate this came with a few arugula leaves though! - Wild mushroom sacchetti - flavorful, soft and chewy, creamy Our server was attentive and came to check on us frequently. I can definitely see myself returning!

Yelp
Went here for a team lunch and absolutely fabulous experience! The service was on point! No delays in the order Ambience is giving away very holiday vibes and cozy feels! The food was totally decadent!

Yelp
Was on the search for lasagna in the Naperville area and surprisingly, a lot of the Italian places don't have it. Came on a weekday and the place was super busy. Our server was very helpful and let us know that most of the cheeses are unpasteurized. Classic Caesar: Flavors as expected and solid size for the price. Momma's Lasagna: Very solid and portion was generous. The Stinger pizza: Honey provided a nice balance from the spiciness. It is on the hotter side so keep that in mind based on your palate. Very reasonably prices and flavors are solid. Would recommend!

Yelp
Visited Gia Mia Naperville as a party of two and we were able to be seated very quickly! They have both indoor and outdoor seating and the ambiance of the restaurant was very nice. For food, we ordered the Small Plate Mushroom Toast, Charred Cauliflower, Baby Kale Salad, and the Chicken Parmesan. The Small Plate Mushroom Toast was delicious and the portions were a lot bigger than we thought. The Charred Cauliflower was roasted perfectly and came with olives and parmesan. We ordered Baby Kale as our Greens and the salad came with bacon, radish, sunflower seeds, and lemon vinaigrette. The Baby Kale was the perfect salad and we really liked the flavors in the salad. The Chicken Parmesan came with crispy hand breaded chicken breast, mozzarella linguine, and both pesto and roasted tomato sauce. The portion is huge so they offered the split the chicken parmesan into two plates which was really nice. Even after splitting the meal into two, we were really full! The chicken was juicy and really liked how they gave us both tomato sauce and pesto sauce in the Chicken Parmesan meal. Overall the service was amazing and the food was really good. Will definitely be back to try more of their dishes!

Yelp
Food is okay. pizza is good. service is not great as the the host and waiter were treating people differently and ignore some guests on purpose. Busy, noisy, small table setup. Very long waiting time on weekend and Monday.

Yelp
What a cute local spot for a nosh at the bar. We had a delicious cosmopolitan, Tuscan shrimp+polenta and the prosciutto and Burrata plate. Every morsel was a tasty delight. 10/10 recommend! The bartender/server was amazing and attentive.

Yelp
Love this place! Delicious, fresh food, great service, and I love how it was built into the old library. I recommend the arranchini appetizer- I could literally eat a bowl of that and a side salad and call it a day. I got the balsamic chicken salad and it was so good! Everything I've tried has been great and I can't wait to try more! Other favorites so far are the mushroom toasts, vodka pasta, and the pizzas.

Yelp
Okay this is an update to my Gia Mia experience. I went again with some friends for the second time and my experience this time around was absolutely incredible. We had patio sitting and sipped on the most refreshing in-house cocktails (not pictured bc they were indulged very quickly). The patio seating was so great, right in the heart of downtown Naperville! Let's talk FOOD! All I have to say is that you HAVE to try the Chicken Parm - it's an absolute must-try! The pesto linguine adds the most refreshing taste, and the chicken is crispy, saucy, and cooked to perfection! The Vodka Pasta with sausage is another standout. It's incredibly creamy, rich, and the perfect dish to share (or keep all to yourself, no judgment here!!!!). I tried it with chicken last time but the sausage is INSANE! Don't even get me started on the Pepperoni and Jalapeño pizza--talk about a perfect slice! The combination of spicy and savory flavors will have you coming back for more! And if you've got a sweet tooth, you *have* to try the dessert flight. It's the perfect way to end your meal on a high note. It comes with tiramisu, cheesecake, chocolate cake, and ice cream! If all of this is not enough, the service was fabulous! We were so well taken care of and constantly checked on! Highly recommend!!!! I will DEFINITELY be coming back to Gia Mia for more! 10/10!

Yelp
I have been here 3x already, every visit the food is always delicious. I've tried the prosciutto + burrata 3x too, can you tell that's my favorite so far? Service was good too. Our 2nd visit (Father's day) was not as great compared to 1st and 3rd but the food would always make up for it. Also my first time to dine Al fresco since the weather is nice. Our server I wish I've gotten her name was very mindful that it is windy so she makes sure our food, napkins and take out bag will not fly away. I do like the al fresco dining, the only complaint I have was the music was too loud. There's construction (not the restaurant's fault) too in front of the restaurant which is probably why they have a loud music.

Yelp
We wanted to take advantage of the extended patio season and this place was perfect! We loved the ambience of the patio seating in the heart of downtown Naperville. My husband and I shared the charred cauliflower - it was well caramelized and flavored. They have so many unique varieties of pizza. We got shrimp pesto pie - never had shrimp on pasta and it tasted amazing!! We also got the pear and caramelized onion pizza - amazing as well! The service was friendly and quick. We also got a glass of chianti and bordeaux to go with our food. Overall, we had a great experience and will be back again!

Yelp
Server was very friendly. Food was delicious. My wife and I ordered and split a salad, an appetizer and a pizza and that was sufficient for both of us. Would recommend coming here. Call a head for a reservation. If not the wait can be 45 minutes or more on a weekend evening for dinner.
google avatar

Yelp
Been too long since I've been here to express details, but it was an average experience.

Yelp
I've heard good things about this place so I decided to try it out for lunch with my friend. We sat outside under an umbrella. Our server Carina was kind and welcoming. She explained to us that we could make additions and substitutions for the $13 lunch special, which I thought was great. For the lunch special, you get a pizza and salad. I'm a picky eater, so none of the salads sounded good to me, so I asked if I could get a Caesar salad, which she said was fine. Personally, I liked my BBQ pizza better than my Caesar salad. It wasn't bad, but I've definitely had better Caesar salads at other places. That said, I felt like the lunch special was a perfect amount of food for lunch. I'll likely come back and try something else, or maybe get just the pizza!

Yelp
Went to celebrate our anniversary. Came an hour before closing. Food was great. Just make sure to order drinks 15 minutes before the restaurant closes. Despite the hiccup, Laura and Mico (the managers) made it right and we were still able to enjoy our meal. Thank you both for your kindness and for making our anniversary very memorable.

Yelp
Excellent Service and excellent food!!! They have outdoor or indoor seating! Very try classy! Nice place for some good Italian food!

Yelp
I visited Gia Mia on a Monday night around 5:30pm and the place was Jumpin' we didn't have a reservation and received a 25-30 minute wait estimate but we lucked up and snagged two seats at the bar. The menu is pretty extensive with small plates, salads, pastas and entrees and a large selection of pizzas. We didn't know it was pizza Monday (half price on all pizzas) so I felt like that a sign to order pizza! I opted for the Hanmaker's Pie (Italian sausage, mushrooms, pepperoni, oregano and basil & I added spinach. My colleague got the same pizza and we shared the Brussel sprouts. The sprouts came out first and were prepared in a way that we didn't quite expect they were shaved and sautéed with bacon and onions, I didn't care them overall as they were quite soft (or mushy) if I had paid closer attention to the description I would have selected a salad. The pizza came out shortly after and it was perfection (minus the sautéed spinach). We didn't order any drinks but they drink menu was extensive with many options for cocktails, mocktails, wines and spirits, I overheard the bartender sharing that many of the cocktails have housemade mixers and/or Gia Mia has put a twist on some traditional favorites like the old fashioned. In addition to a good meal the former library that the restaurant is houses in is beautiful with tall ceilings, colorful images of Italy and a large patio with umbrellas for warmer weather. I would return in the future if I'm in the area.

Yelp
This was my first time here and I will definitely coming back, but I would make a reservation next time. They were very busy during lunch time, but I only had to wait 30 minutes or so. It was worth the wait because the food was delicious from the small plate to the entree to the dessert. My mom and I enjoyed every part of it, and it was more than enough for two people. The lunch special was the 13 dollar and it came with a 7 inch pizza and side salad which was the perfect portion. The mushroom toast was soo good and the dessert flight ( my favorite was the ricotta cheesecake) too.

Yelp
The atmosphere is great. I had the cauliflower small plate which was amazing with the olives and honey flavors added. Then I had the blackened salmon spinach salad which, was great too! I'd suggest, for a party of two, a small plate each to share and then split the blacked salmon spinach salad as there is plenty of spinach and salmon to go around. The salmon is cooked perfectly too. The service was great with an attentive server, Jelena, and it was a pleasure to have her as a server. Lastly, I ordered the lemon sorbeto and that was also plenty for a party of two. Everything was great and I'd definitely recommend this restaurant. I wish I had taken pic of everything to show you.

Yelp
Casual ambiance with delicious food and good service. I've been here a few times, and each time was a pleasant experience. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu, and I've tried various appetizers, salads, pizza, and pasta dishes, and all were enjoyable. I haven't tried the desserts, but will on my next visit!

Julie B.

Yelp
My first experience was amazing and I will certainly come again and again. From the manager, to the hostess, to the server they all went out of their way to be of assistance. I was in a wheelchair and everyone in your organization just did their Job, like it was an everyday occurrence to go the extra mile. Food was delicious. Thank you for making my night special. Can't wait to bring more of my Family to your outstanding restaurant. Julie

Yelp
Tasty local Italian spot! The staff was nice & very helpful when we asked questions about the menu! I would definitely come back here with friends. Cute atmosphere

Yelp
Very nice outdoor seating. The lunch special for a personal pizza and a salad really hit the spot! Service was friendly and quick. Really excited to go back!

Yelp
The food HIT the spot for pasta. Pancherri pasta, bread, tiramisu, bourbon smash. The bartender recommended the pasta. I was caught off guard when the Parmesan and bread came too fast. But when the pasta came....it was the BOMB. great weather. Busy but quick service. Cool place. Def coming back
google avatar

Kelly K.

Yelp
1st time we ordered Lasagna and non celiac gf butternut squash risotto last night... the restaurant gave our Uber Driver someone else's order... luckily my husband likes Chicken Parmesan was fantastic so was Tiramisu... Zucchini fries OK next time we'll order directly from the restaurant
google avatar

Yelp
Just went for lunch. Hostess wouldn't seat us at table in the shade. Said it's a six seat and we were only two. Glad she doesn't work for me.

Angry P.

Yelp
Tried this place during restaurant week. The restaurant and ambience were modern and clean, inviting. Tried the price fix menu for $29 that included the lobster bisque soup, the pork belly with polenta, and small filet. The bisque was good and tasty, flavorful but slightly lukewarm. The polenta was good, the pork belly I didn't love. The filet was good quality and well cooked. Flavorful. The potatoes were reasonable. I'm not an asparagus person so didn't try those. Overall good food quality, price was reasonable, and server was reasonable. However I was in a bit of a rush to make an appointment and felt the service took quite a while which was frustrating. Despite the slower than expected service, would come back and try other stuff on the menu.
google avatar

Debbie L.

Yelp
Absolutely love the inside of this restaurant. It's on old library built in the late 1800s that they've brought to the 21st century. Drinks were great, I had the spicy pear margarita. There wasn't much spice to it but it was delicious. We started with the Arancini and some sort of butternut squash tortellini, I don't think it was called tortellini but it was shaped that way. The filling was yummy. The arancini was light and just enough. We both had the balsamic grilled chicken salad as our entree, so good. I didn't want anything too heavy for lunch and a salad with grapes, nuts and strawberries isn't something I'd normally order but I'm glad I did, it was delightful. I feel that matter what there is "always something", good, bad or indifferent when you dine out. My always something for this was, the butternut squash tortellini was a bit doughy. Maybe it was suppose to be that way since it wasn't really a traditional tortellini I probably wouldn't order that again. I will definitely return for their drinks, arancini, salads and to try their enticing little wood fire pizzas.

Adam C.

Yelp
I've gotten about 10 dishes at Gia Mia at this point, same for my girlfriend, and one thing is clear--they're all good (especially the hot honey pepperoni pizza!) I don't know that there's a better bang-for-your-buck upscale establishment in the entire Naperville/Aurora food scene and it definitely leaves you wanting to come back. It feels like fine dining, and the aesthetic matches, it just doesn't hurt the wallet quite as much. Service is good, can run slightly slow during peak hours with as packed as the place can get, but once you take a bite you immediately get why it is.
google avatar

Pam M.

Yelp
Stephanie C was one of the best waitresseses we have ever had. This was our first time here and she made our time unforgettable. Her patience and knowledge of the dishes helped us because all of the dishes sounded excellent! The smashed fingerling potatoes is amazing and the wood fired pizza was delicious! We will be back!
google avatar

Kelly D.

Yelp
Outstanding meal. Everything we ate was incredibly delicious, we left here stuffed. Our typical go to app is calamari but the Prosciutto & fig bruschetta caught our attention as something to try outside of the ordinary, so glad we did. For our meal we enjoyed the short rib gnocchi and paccheri vodka both dishes were full of flavor, something we would definitely come back for again. The staff was friendly, both indoor and outdoor seatings options seemed nice and price was fair for the quality of italian food we enjoyed.
google avatar

Noemi M.

Yelp
Went for New Eve Years dinner. We had a great 7 pm reservation. The service was fantastic. The food was perfect. So yummy! I highly recommend the veal meat balls, the calamari and my dish was the lobster ravioli with shrimp, wow spicy and delicious. The lasagna and the salad also don't disappoint. I love the vibe and look of this location. So cozy and romantic. This restaurant was amazing!!

Yelp
Every time we come in, it's always a wonderful experience! From the excellent pizza to the incredible atmosphere. Everything is perfect here! Make sure to make reservations beforehand. Because, they are always busy! Also, try not to get sat in the back corner. It takes away from the experience and the waitress isn't friendly.
google avatar

Imran F.

Yelp
Our first time here and it was a great experience. We sat outside on the patio with it being a beautiful day. Our waitress was wonderful and knowledgeable. The pizzas were delicious. The dough was just right. The spicy chicken pizza was our favorite as compared to the mushroom one. We will definitely be back to try other things on the menu.
google avatar

Isha S.

Yelp
Usually not one to rave about Italian food but the quality and freshness was great, highly recommend the wild mushroom toast and the veal meatballs. Really great spot for group dinners that's not too expensive, and it's located in the old library building. Our server was so sweet- overall great experience

Renata R.

Yelp
Food is good service was horrible. I took a sip of my girlfriend's drink which was just a soda, when my girlfriend requested a refill she almost denied the refill because I took a sip of it. She stated "I don't want to be that person but are you guys sharing?" unfortunately she was being that person. I have never been asked this question in my life because I took a sip of someone else's soda, from then on the experience was just awkward with the waitress.
google avatar

Yelp
Another food adventure with my honey. This time we stopped at Gia Mia in downtown Naperville. We've passed this place so many times last summer and have finally made it. Housed in an old library, Gia Mia has a relaxed vibe. Our waitress was awesome, providing us with details of various dishes as we were undecided. (Short rib gnocchi.....like what?!?!?!?!?!!!!!) We went for Easter bunch, my honey ordering the lasagna and I ordered the Stinger, which is one of their wood-fired pizzas with spicy pepperoni and HOT HONEY!!!!!! (Brillant combination by the way) We enjoyed every bite. Our awesome waitress provided us with their creamy parmesan dressing as a dip for my pizza.....I need a barrel! I was 2 seconds from embarrassing myself and licking the plate clean. FYI, their patio is THE place to be in the summer! We will definitely be back!

Anu K.

Yelp
The red sangria here was so good as well as the food, we ordered a bunch of entrees and appetizers and shared as it was a big group of us. We all loved the food and it was a perfect start to the night before strolling along a few bars for a few more drinks afterwards in downtown Naperville.

Mira J.

Yelp
Food was good but super dumb waitress who messed up our drinks and forgot to give me my credit card back. Called and spoke to manager who put me on hold for long time then hung up the phone. Customer service needs work.
