Positano vs. Capri — Which Is Best for Your Italy Trip?

"A local food-experience operator run by Holly Star and her husband Gianluca D’Esposito that offers cooking classes and island-focused culinary activities; Star emphasizes slow island rhythms and advises visitors that "One of the things that I think is such a big misconception is that Capri is a day trip," adding that she "recommends staying at least three or four nights on the island" to absorb its atmosphere, and she notes that although the island has a luxury reputation, "there aren't places that are affordable" alongside upscale options, so visitors can find a range of budgets." - Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz Laura Itzkowitz is a writer and editor based in Rome. Without exaggeration, the best place to relax. A cozy terraced garden with a magnificent view. Perhaps a book in the breeze, or just watching the sharp horizon divide the blue sky from the turquoise water. Not to be missed.

No queue to entry, tickets can be purchased at a vending machine right outside (no cash accepted). The only wait i had to do is to take pictures at the watch points. The garden is not so big, but the view is breathtaking. 😄 Right next to the garden you will find the roof top bar which has excellent cocktails next to the same mesmerising view.

Google
Beautiful views and definitely worth a visit to get some memorable pictures. Lots of places to sit and relax but you’re not allowed to eat there. Entry was €2.5 and definitely worth the views.

Google
The gardens of Augustus is a beautiful mountaintop garden which has a few statues and benches but it's main selling point is the view at the top. If you are on a tour and don't have much time I would recommend, as it's easy enough to get to and is a stunning "Instagram worthy" spot. Of course you have to pay to get in which you can do via a QR code or buying tickets. You can pay in your own currency on the app, which I thought was cool. I think £4 for a tiny garden with a view is milking it though, I think it should be done on a donation basis. You'll have people everywhere posing at every which angle so find a few good spots, take some snaps and get out of there!

Nice and well maintained gardens. Entrance fee of €2,50 a person. Plenty of scenic viewpoints. Make sure to arrive as early as possible to prevent having to navigate the tourist groups that start arriving as early as of 09:30. They open at 09:00, and since it’s a small garden between 09:00 and 09:30 is a very nice window to see it all in all tranquility.(excluding the via Krupp)

€2.50 per person for entry and not sure its worth it. It is essentially 10m2 of grass with some flowers, several view points towards the faraglioni and a couple more on the other side towards the Via Krupp. Some good views of the faraglioni rocks but lots of people in the way taking photos of course. The views are just as good at the roof terrace next door and you can have a drink whilst enjoying the view! Win win

Google
Lovely little garden in an amazing location. The statues and plants are very nice, and the grounds are very well maintained. The really impressive aspect is the surrounding architecture, particularly the switchback ramp leading all 100+ meters down to the sea.

Absolutely breathtaking! The Gardens of Augustus are a must-visit in Capri. The view is incredible — you can see the bright blue sea, the Faraglioni rocks, and the coastline all in one frame. Peaceful, beautifully kept, and perfect for photos.

Yelp
This place is SO beautiful and the view out to the sea is stunning. Make reservations at il Geranio for lunch after your visit and make sure to get a lemonade at the stand you'll pass on your walk there.

Yelp
Views, views and more views. Built and donated by the Tycoon Krupp this garden offers the best views of Capri. 1.5€ entrance is a steal of a deal. You can't go wrong by stopping by and enjoying the well maintained landscape and absolutely world class views. You will be so glad to stopped and enjoyed. No food or drinks allowed!

Yelp
A really small park that isn't free. You gotta pay. However there are a ton of great views which is what you're paying for. Not necessary for Capri, but still really nice.

Yelp
This is the best value on Capri! And we almost did not go inside. We were on a day trip to Capri and had limited time. We walked all around the downtown area and ended up at this garden. There was a nominal entry fee and we were almost out of time, but we ended up going in and it was worth it. It also is a small property so we were able to move through in about 15 minutes. You can of course spend more time there as well, but in our 15 minutes, we were able to take some really nice pictures, walk the whole thing, and enjoy the plant life. The best part about it are the amazing views! You can see the Faraglioni and pretty much the whole south side of the island. There is also a walking path that you can take all the way down to Marina Piccolo from here but it was closed the day we were there.

Yelp
This is where you want to be if you love gardens, breezes, sea views, landscapes, a sweet escape, a romantic atmosphere, and of course... taking pictures :) Entry is €1 which is nothing when you discover what's beyond the entrance's stone staircase. It might cross your mind to think 'now what am I in love with more?' This point on the island is spectacular! Credit to Friedrich Alfred Krupp. I'd say it's one of the best photo spots. It would definitely be an ideal one for a special kind of day... Dream come true for a wedding location, huh. It doesn't have to be though, to enjoy the scenery and be in a pleasant moment. (For more information on the history of the garden, you're invited to web research.) My photos are attached for your daydreaming convenience.

Yelp
Stunning views from this garden! Prefect to get pictures in and a quick little walk from the center of Capri. A few places were closed when we were there so this was a great way to still see them from afar without being able to go. Definitely worth stopping in!

Yelp
Pros: - inexpensive thing to do in Capri. Only 1 Euro per person. - slush stand immediately outside to pick up a limoncello slush after walking through the park. - pretty flowers and signs around the park - great views! Cons: - we wanted to walk Via Krupp to end at the beautiful vista, and thought that the Garden was the best way to access. Turns out Via Krupp has been closed since 2016! We were bummed, considering we were looking for a short hike to do and we've heard the vistas are beautiful.

Yelp
It was free entrance. Great view of Faraglioni and Via Krupp. Very clean and well kept. Definitely a perfect place for photos and to relax

Yelp
After spending just a couple days in Capri I can say with total confidence that it is one of the most spectacular places I've ever been to in my life. The people are charming, the lemoncello is delicious and the water is the bluest of blue. There is no shortage of gorgeous landscapes on the island - including The Gardens of Augustus - via Krupp. This hidden gem is located along the southern part of the island and really is easy to get to... just follow any of the main roadways from the main Piazzetta down to Via Matteotti. The park is €1 to enter and is worth every cent. We spent about two hours just taking in the spectacular via Krupp, Marina Piccola, Faraglioni and the Tyrrhenian Sea. The pedestrian only zig zag ramp (via Krupp) leading down to the marina was closed for the summer (maybe longer?) so we weren't able to walk down which was a real bummer. The views from above were still pretty spectacular, though, whether you're on the first or second level. The first level is lovely with its patches of green grass, flowers, trees; the second level is basically a large patio with benches for sitting and enjoying the sunshine. I can think of no better way to spend an afternoon than inside the Gardens of Augustus.
