A Guide to the Fragrant Gardens of Florence, Italy | Vogue

"Particularly lush alongside Pizzale Michelangelo, this hillside garden showcases Tuscan irises in aromatic clusters near the exquisite, graphically-patterned San Miniato al Monte marble church, with an arresting view of the city; a walk here leaves notes of lavender, iris, geranium, and cedarwood." - Ahnna Lee

Beautiful gardens and totally worth a look. It's free to get in and can be accessed from the Piazzale Michelangelo. Quite a few stairs though but really worth the effort to make your way all the way down. There is no exit at the bottom though so keep in mind you'll need to get back up all the stairs.

Thus is a very nice place to relax and avoid the crowds just for a few hours. The gardens are well maintained and you can see the pride in the volunteers that maintain the grounds.

It is really beautiful!! 🥰 A lot of different varieties - colour combinations The garden is free but you can donate or buy the souvenirs and it would benefit from funding The disadvantage for me was : There are two entrances (as you can see in the map) but the one where I wanted to go in is closed so I need to walk to the other gate that located in the other side So please enter the garden from piazza Michelangelo (across David statue)

Beautiful iris garden next to the Piazzale Michelangelo, overlooking Florence. Open only one month per year (May). Entrance to the garden is free.

Great to go in spring when so many were in beautiful bloom! Wonderful place to stop and read on one of the plentiful benches after the walk up the hill!

Visited on thw last day of the season. Unfortunately, we missed the flowers apart from the odd one. I can imagine how lovely it must be in bloom. Still a loveñy little garden to have a wonder through though.
