Overall a 4 star experience mainly because we were charged for 2 portions of the bread. We did not ask for seconds but the waiter insisted on bringing us more so we agreed. The mandatory “cover charge” is for the bread, olives, and gazpacho, which we knew about from the menu and these reviews. However, insisting me have more of a dish that I did not ask for then charging me for it doesn’t seem right to me? The food was good but I would not come back here for this reason. It’s not about the money, but the principle/restaurant ethics.

I had a great time here! The food was delicious: got some free appetizers which was a nice touch! The bread was simply out of this world and the lamstew was nice! Gnocci could have been a touch less doughy in my opinion but the gravy and the supersoft lamb definitely made up for it! The waiter was very friendly, which definitely elevated the experience! I loved the location as well, nice and cool!

Had a fantastic lunch here. It was delicious and presented as artwork. I had the lunch special and my wife had the lobster and pasta. We shared and loved both of them

Restaurant Giaxa in Hvar offers a delightful dining experience, blending exquisite cuisine with a serene and charming setting. Tucked away on a quiet back street, away from the bustling crowds, Giaxa provides a perfect escape for those seeking a peaceful and intimate meal. The food at Giaxa is truly commendable. The shrimp risotto was a highlight, boasting amazing flavors that perfectly balanced the creamy texture of the risotto with the succulent, well-seasoned shrimp. Each bite was a testament to the kitchen's skill and dedication to quality. The lamb stew, another dish we tried, was rich and flavorful, offering a hearty and satisfying experience. However, it could have benefited from a bit more cooking time, as the meat was slightly tough. Despite this minor flaw, the depth of flavor in the stew was impressive and enjoyable. Service at Giaxa was impeccable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and professional, ensuring that every aspect of our dining experience was pleasant and smooth. Their dedication to excellent service added a significant positive note to our visit. The restaurant's setting is lovely, providing a quiet and intimate atmosphere that is perfect for a relaxing meal. The ambiance, combined with the high-quality food and outstanding service, makes Giaxa a standout choice for dining in Hvar. Overall, Restaurant Giaxa offers a delightful culinary experience with a few minor areas for improvement. The serene setting, exceptional service, and delicious dishes make it a must-visit for anyone in Hvar looking to enjoy a memorable meal.

We were looking for a nice place to dine at for our last night in Hvar and Giaxa did not disappoint. To start they brought us some homemade bread and olives (which were incredibly delicious) and some homemade “pie”. We tried the local white wine which was very smooth and lightweight. As an appetizer we wanted something light so we ordered the monkfish carpaccio which was very delicate and refreshing. To eat we had the tuna fish which was my favorite, grilled to perfection paired with baked potatoes and also the saffron prawn risotto. Everything was delicious and the service was top!

My 3 friends and I went to lunch here and let me tell you, this was one of the best lunch experiences I’ve ever had. I ordered one of the specials which was a homemade pasta with lobster and white sauce and it was to die for. My friends split the lobster with red sauce pasta, and it dropped our jaws. But it didn’t stop there. The experience was made perfect because of our awesome servers, Alexander and Luka. They gave the best service and recommendations. The atmosphere was absolutely lovely. I wish I could eat here every day. 10/10 experience.

We made a reservation here during our vacation based on the reviews. The seating area is beautiful. They have a nice wine selection. We were given a complimentary starter, which was their version of baba ghanoush (chopped eggplant, tomatoes, onions, peppers, herbs, I think some mango?) it was very refreshing and delicious paired with their warm bread. We also had the white fish carpaccio, which was average. The food came out quickly. My boyfriend had the lamb stew and was pleased with it. I had the rockfish entree and we both agreed it was so good and flavorful - recommend. The servers were rushed and a little rude, which is the reason for the 4-star review.
