I'm running on fumes after a long travel day and after a power nap I was craving spicy food.
A quick search showed Gigi's with rave reviews and Chinese sounded like it would fulfill my cravings.
The restaurant is a short 6 minutes walk from the Marriott and the walk itself was a beautiful stroll past boats, tall apartments and quaint brick flats with little patios off of them.
I walked into Gigi's and didn't see anyone at first. But I walked up to the bar and was greeted warmly the moment they saw me.
Since I ordered takeaway so I could fat girl it in pjs in my hotel room, I don't have any comments regarding service. But being greeted with smiles makes me think service for sit down will be just as welcoming.
My order was ready to go and smelled amazing.
I got to my room and realized they hadn't put in utensils--oops. I'm so used to places in the US who throw in enough utensils for 4 people based on the amount of food I order hahaha. So make sure you ask for utensils if you're not taking your food back home.
I ordered the cucumber salad, the Lazy Chicken(dry fried chicken no sauce but with plenty of kick due to the 3 types of peppers in the dish) and YuXiang aubergine with pork (saucy, mildly spicy eggplant with ground pork).
WOW.
I'm taking a break from shoving my dinner into my face to write this review.
First impression is the food isn't greasy. It's flavorful, the eggplant is perfectly cooked, and the chicken crisp. I really enjoyed my cucumber salad which had a mellow, slightly soy flavor that offset the spices nicely.
Everything (including rice) was under 25£.
I was able to order online through their website and pay which was really easy and made pick up very smooth.
If you're local or a visitor I highly recommend the food from Gigi's. I really like the fact that they don't use MSG and the food was non greasy.
The portions are generous and the prices fair.
