"This charming, unassuming café in Rif is marked with a simple wooden sign, befitting its authentic decoration (laminate floors, wooden tables) and small and traditional—but fantastically tasty—menu. The two women who run the café, the wives of local fishermen, offer, among other dishes, a fish soup made from the day’s catch and flavored with peaches and vegetables, a variety of homemade breads, pastries, and cakes, andsurprisingly modern coffee from national roaster Kaffitár. There are also tables outside from which you can admire the pleasant surroundings if the weather’s good, andthe lovely proprietors are keen to offer local travel tips as well. Open from June to August only."

Delicious coffee! Amazing pastries. Warm hospitality. Cute decor. Voted best cafe house on the West Island in 2019. Nice views outside. Friendly service. Enjoyed my latte and carrot cake—not overly sweet. Can taste the high quality ingredients. Well done! Highly recommend.

Great coffee. Wonderful atmosphere. Even better desserts. Exactly the right place to get fortified for extraordinary lanscapes nearby. I love that they told the group of 15 to "go to the gas station." They obviously know what kind of a cozy place they have and want to preserve it from crowds. Is this the perfect coffee shop, not just for Iceland, but for the entire planet Earth? Perhaps.

This cafe is wonderful! The food and coffee is delicious. THE CAKES…so amazing. My family liked this place so much, we made a point to eat here twice during our 4 day stay in the peninsula. The fish soup is a perfect dish to warm you up after trekking around in the rain and wind. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, the perfect place to enjoy scrumptious food and rest your legs.

What a wonderful place. It was a cute, warmly decorated and, most importantly I had my best cup of coffee here since being in Iceland. And great homemade pastries. The carrot cake was supreme!!!! Great place. A “must stop” place!!

This is a neat little coffeehouse in Hellissandur that we very much enjoyed visiting during our recent drive around the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. They have a small and quaint indoor seating area which became full up shortly after opening on the morning of our visit. Opening hours are 11am to 5pm, closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (summer hours). Menu is simple and straightforward with a handful of savoury food items and desserts to go along with their coffee, tea, beer and wine drinks. Service is very friendly and as timely as can be expected. Environs are charming. Prices reasonable for what is served. During our visit, we tried their bagel with date pesto, a creative topping that dated very nice. Macchiato and Americano were both just fine as well. Overall, really enjoyed our little visit to Gilbakki Kaffihus and would gladly return to pay visit again if possible in the future.

Loved this little place ! Syrups are vegan, one of the best caramel macchiato I had in Iceland ! Employees were super nice, especially the owner 🥰 she gave us a map and suggested tons of things to do on the peninsula for the day ! Super cute and comfy too, I highly recommend 🖤

Very quaint cafe with small kitchen and delicious menu. We had several bagels with pesto, jam and hummus. The fish soup was great. Meringue and other desserts were all excellent. The service was nice. Upstairs there is a comfortable loft for extra space. Views are amazing to the mountains.
