We had just gotten back from an Alaskan cruise with another couple and wanted to see the Oregon coast. Found Gilbert Inn on Trip Advisor and booked. We were in room 2 and they had room 3. Both were nicely decorated and comfortable. If ever back in Oregon, we would definitely make this our lodging. Breakfast was very good and had more to offer than I anticipated!

The room was too small to allow comfortable sitting in the rooms. Extremely steep steps were necessary to access the second floor rooms. There was absolutely no view of the ocean. Our view was of a back parking lot and alley. The staff was pleasant and kind. The facility was clean. These physical characteristics can not be changed, however, management could do a much better job disclosing all of these physical characteristics at the time of booking

The room I chose was perfect for me my partner and new lil dog. Had access to the outside which made everyone’s life much easier for the late night needs. The breakfast was so nice. Cute and had a selection anyone could enjoy. The house itself was gorgeous. I would rebar again for sure.

Google
The Inn is lovely, historical. Close to the beach. The room was small but nicely decorated. No microwave or fridge. I was disappointed in the breakfast provided. Being billed as a BnB, I expected more. There was fruit and yogurt, some precooked lukewarm eggs and sausage and a do it yourself waffle maker that was out of batter. Similar to what you would get at a Best Western or such.

Great Location steps from the sandy beach. The queen bed was very comfortable. The stay was reasonably priced and included breakfast, I also loved reading about the history of the house. It was quiet at night I would definitely stay in seaside and at the Gilbert Inn again.

We would never stay at this Inn again. Although it is a great location, the rooms are very small, and incredibly noisy! We could have carried on a conversation with the couple in the room next door. And breakfast? It was horrible. The building itself is nice, but the staff and the accommodations were not with a recommendation. Is overpriced as well. We were very disappointed.

This place is amazing! It's literally a piece of History! You can learn about the history and stay in one of the actual rooms in the manor. Sophia at the front desk was amazing and she was so wonderful to explain the history as well as hook us up on the s'mores fire pit 🙂 thank you Sophia for a wonderful time! We can't wait to visit you again at the Gilbert inn!

Google
Unpleasant and expensive. The bed was very uncomfortable, the staff dismissive, the room was very loud from the neighboring rooms and the parking garage across the street (The photo of the dumpster truck stuck in the parking garage is the view from the room). Many things were broken, including the coffee machine and half of the bikes. There was hair in the breakfast. I was also irritated that the staff tried to charge us over $100 for requesting to change to a different room, despite that room being offered online at a lower price.

Yelp
I'm so glad I decided to stay at this charming little hotel! It's soaked with history and feels like living in a museum. Even though the rooms are tiny and really close to each other, I had a good night sleep and didn't hear the neighbors at all. Also, cheers for the complimentary breakfast and parking! :)

Yelp
1. The room was smallest of all the hotels and inns that I have ever been. I have no control over it. I didn't know it was that small when I made a reservation. 2. The bedsheet appeared to be never changed as it had yellow tint to it as if someone slept in it. It was about 11:00 pm and I could not call to discuss about it. 3. The bedsheet had several of red stains that appeared to be blood drops. I am a retired forensic examiner, and I recognize what I see. 4. When I checked out, there was no desk person to complain about it. When I called later after 9 am and talk about it, they said they didn't see the stain. So, I sent them the photos. 5. They said they will refund $25 for the dog fee and $50 from the room rate. The refunded $25 but never refunded $50 saying they have difficulties refunding. 6. It's been almost a month since this started and they still said they have difficulties with the refund. I think the reasonable time has passed, and they could have done whatever they could do within the time period if they are serious about it.

Yelp
If I were basing my review on location only, it would be 4 1/2 stars. The location is a hidden gem. It's a very short walk to the Prom/beach and a short walk in the other direction will take you to the main street. On that street are shops and restaurants which you can access from either direction. The inn is nice and while I was here it was really quiet. The room was small, but it had easy access from a side door, so it was like having a private entrance. When I checked in, the guy at the front desk wasn't friendly or helpful at all, so it kind of dimmed my expectations but the lady who took over the day or so was extremely nice, so that kind of made up for it The breakfast was really nice too. You fill out an order form and the kitchen will make it for you and bring it to your table. The rooms only have Pluto TV, but I found a few favorites to watch. Oh and when I arrived, my room was like ice and the bathroom was even colder. It took a long time to heat up to an acceptable level, which was also a disappointment, even though it's a very old house, but eventually it got a little warmer.

Yelp
We stayed at the Gilbert Inn during a fairly busy weekend. The price was about what to expect for a three night stay. I booked the Matthew room and it was decent, but had a lot of quirks. For starters, it appeared to be in a newer addition to the property and felt like a standard room, but had some antique furniture. A mini fridge and microwave were supplied, as well as a coffee maker, but we didn't use any of them. A point off would be the fact that the fridge was on its own on the floor - surely it could have been placed on something instead. There wasn't a ceiling fan but there was a tower fan that didn't work (we usually bring our own for white noise so it wasn't a problem). The room was very stuffy unless you had the window open, but as a result made the room cold. There is a heater but we didn't use it - opted to just bundle up instead. While it's great that there's a reasonably sized en suite bathroom, the showerhead was Danny DeVito height and the shower curtain was pretty sad. Linens were fine. The parking and after hours access was a little questionable. Yes you're offered a key and "assigned" parking, but when we arrived late there were only one or two spots left, often tight due to the idiot in a lifted truck. Thanks a lot, moron! The side entrance was convenient but I questioned the security (and proximity to one of the guest rooms). Maybe a keypad would be better? Probably the only part of the room we had zero issues was is the bed and TV. The bed was extremely comfortable - like sleeping on a cloud!! The TV was great minus no apparent live cable or anything that seemed to function. We had our Nintendo switch so no big deal. Overall.. I'm torn. I really wanted to love this place but it's hard to say. I personally don't think we were the right clientele for this property. I probably nitpicked a lot more than I should. I might give it another try again soon but perhaps if it was last minute only.

Yelp
What a rip off. Five star resort prices for one star accommodations. Emailed ahead of our stay requesting restaurant recommendations for our anniversary dinner, and never received a response. Front desk had no clue what was going on and couldn't be bothered to care about the guests in front of him when he was watching his soccer game. Had only one key for the room, didn't know what happened to the other one. The shampoo bottle and conditioner bottle were literally filled with water, and the lotion bottle was not the advertised beekman brand, and smelled terrible. Their own website advertised a cooked to order breakfast that I payed for ahead of time, but apparently isn't available under the new management. The bed was comfortable, but I would scream it from the roof top that these guys are banking on the good reviews from when it was under good management. Between the horrible service and the leaky hose that's creating foundation problems on the back deck, this place will not last long. It's a shame, because it's an adorable property.

Yelp
This is a beautiful historic house. I stayed in the 1880's room this weekend. It was larger than expected and even had an extra seating room with a cozy fireplace. The bathroom was stocked with lots of toiletries and I had a hearty breakfast. They had a DVD player in the room and lots of DVD's to borrow by the desk besides the cable television options. The robes and mugs were very special in the room too. Absolutely loved my stay. I will definitely be coming back. They offer really great rates on Expedia and Trip Advisor. I actually won a 1 night stay through a Mother's Day Facebook contest, but I plan on definitely staying again soon. My mother and I had such a magical stay. Special thanks to Mary, Leo,and Shyanne at the hotel for the fantastic hospitality and making us feel like family.

Dave R.

Yelp
Very nice stay! Just a stone's throw from the beach. Bed is about as comfortable as anywhere else. You get a complementary breakfast in which you can hear them in the kitchen after scrambling the eggs you just ordered. Staff is friendly. Price is very reasonable. Rooms are very clean. Easy check in, checkout.

Yelp
Beautiful historic home, terrible service-- Very disappointed w our stay here. We chose this pretty inn for a sisters trip. It is across the street from Seaside Beach. 5 stars for location! Small property, not as big as pictures look, but pretty. We received a phone call at 3 pm on check-in day while we were driving there telling us the desk closed at 5 pm and we would have to do self check-in unless we arrived at 5. We told the receptionist that we were planning on bike riding the beach walk when we arrived there. We changed our driving plans so we could come before close and arrived at 4 pm. They advertise a fire pit, beach bikes and towels/beach chairs. The desk lady was really irritated when we arrived and said it was a "big pain in the A" to make us bikes. She pulled two boxed new bikes out of the storage shed and proceeded to bang around upset, building them while we sat and waited, although we'd told her an hour before we were wanting to use the bikes. She kept threatening to go home without making the bikes, so we sat for 1.5 hours and waited patiently while she made them. We asked 3 times for beach towels/chairs and asked twice for the outdoor firepit instructions (they leave it off at night unless you request it). We were patient and nice, but both desk ladies were rude and very put off that we'd ask for these amenities and kept ignoring our requests. We finally set off on our beach bike ride with bikes that weren't assembled correctly (handlebars installed crooked and rotating seats). We enjoyed the beautiful beach and came home to other guests enjoying the firepit as well, so I'm glad we asked it to be turned on. The property is historic and beautiful and well-maintained. We stayed in the charming Garrett Room, which has 4 flights of steep stairs and no curtains, making it very difficult to sleep at night w beach lighting and street lighting all around. When we walked in, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned and there was some guys hair in the bathtub, half used soaps and shampoos, and it was pretty gross. We ran over to the grocery to buy tub cleaner as were nervous to use it (Covid time) and the desk had shut at 5. Breakfast the next day was very meager (choose butter or peanut butter, for example). Overall pretty property but was lacking the sweet family-run Bed and Breakfast vibe we are used to. The staff was very rude and didn't want to provide any of the advertised amenities. No hot cookies, no hot water for cocoa (water machine out), etc. This property and 2 other local inns are run by an outside property management company that doesn't have customer service available after 5 pm. Breakfast is only available 8-10 am. We were told that they would give us some sort of discount or something to make it right from the very long wait the night before, but no one was at the desk at 8:45 the next morning when we left to fulfill on that. If you stay here, be sure to come before the desk closes up so you can get the things you need to be comfy! With so many lovely places to stay in Seaside, I think we'll choose another property w good service next time.

Yelp
This place is actually perfect and if I could give them 10 stars I would. The room is clean and comfortable and the staff is just SO friendly and attentive. My room had a clean bathroom, coffee pot with coffee, hot coco and an easy to work TV. The front of the Inn has a fire pit to use, perfect after walking around the ocean - I'll add the ocean is only 1 block up. Breakfast in the morning is filling and yummy. One of the best parts is this place is walking distance from everything, I never moved my car. If you are looking to rest and relax in Seaside this is the place. I can't wait to go back.

Benjamin F.

Yelp
Drove 5 hours to Seaside to find out they had over-booked our room, making our confirmed "reservations" made 3 days prior useless. We had no place to stay because the city was packed and there was no vacancy anywhere, so rather than sleep in our car, we turned around and drove the whole way home. Gilbert Inn management lied and blamed booking.com, even though Gilbert Inn initiated the cancellation, not booking.com. While we waited while being ignored in the lobby, I couldn't help but notice how run down and crappy everything looked. Probably dodged a bullet.

Kevin C.

Yelp
I booked my stay at the Gilbert Inn through Booking.com and was overcharged for it. I called the inn twice and both times I was told that my issue would be forwarded to management. Waited over a week and never heard back from anyone. Messaged the inn on Booking.com, then filed an issue with customer service - still no response. I was only able to get this billing issue resolved through my credit card company. The day after the credit card dispute was resolved, my card was charged again by the inn (not just a pending or authorization charge, but a posted one). This occurred almost 3 weeks after my stay, so at this point there should be zero reason for my card to be charged. Stay away from this inn (and Inn At The Prom too, since it's owned by the same business) - all this headache over a $13 overcharge that they could have easily resolved on their end. Now they have my credit card information and are still charging it for no reason. I'll be reporting this fraudulent activity to the Better Business Bureau.

Carol S.

Yelp
We had hoped to be able to rate this Inn, but we were unable to reach them to make a reservation. We just found out we need to be in that area tomorrow, so needed to make lodging plans quickly. We began calling at 10:00 am but heard nothing back (3 phone calls and one email) by noon. I expect that staffing has been impacted by this pandemic and perhaps, there simply was no one available to answer the phone or return calls. In any event, we are sorry to miss out on trying the Gilbert Inn. Update: they did get back to us after3:00pm, but we'd made other plans......perhaps, another time I can't really rate them because we didn't stay. At least they eventually got back to us

Aaron W.

Yelp
This place was almost perfect and had two big annoyances that marked it down for us. Everything you read about charm and niceness is accurate this place was great bed was comfy, friendly staff, great breakfast. The first really big annoyance was that the guy who was directly above our bedroom was the heaviest of all walkers and seemed like he was running an in place marathon in the bedroom up till 11:30pm and back up and at it around 6am. This was incredibly annoying because he was so loud that it seemed to have shook the place. We complained but what can really be done about that? The rooms are not even big so whatever the hell he was doing up there we had no idea. The second annoyance was not as big but was still pretty annoying given that this is marked as a romantic get away. Any romantic get away is going to consist of shaking the bed (wink wink) and the bed we had was so squeaky and made so much noise. Maybe just needed some WD-40 or something but if this is a romantic get away we'd expect the bed to hold its own. If your looking for a true romantic getaway we cannot recommend this place unless your over 60 and don't really shake the bed much.

Sophie S.

Yelp
Absolutely loved our stay. Was worried that the pictures were not going to live up to reality, but I was pleasantly surprised. The bed was very comfortable and the house was so cute and nice to stay in. They have a fire pit and SMORES kits you can get at the front desk. It's a very short walk from the promenade and local food. We went to Fins upon recommendation by the staff and a guest and loved that as well.

Mark S.

Yelp
This was our first visit to the Oregon coast and to Seaside. We were pleasantly pleased with the Gilbert Inn. Our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom shower was an issue. It was a claw foot tub with a wrap around shower curtain that did not make it all the way around. So we had to mop up the floor everyday following our showers. Breakfast was ok provided you are only staying one or two nights. We stayed six and the lack of variety and quality got old. Given the choice I would choose to stay in Cannon Beach over Seaside if I ever make it there again. If you are going to stay in Seaside, the Gilbert Inn is a good choice.

L W.

Yelp
We stayed at The Gilbert Inn recently from June 30th-July 7th. We really enjoyed our time in this cute little Victorian style B&B built originally by one of Seaside Oregon's prominent businessmen, Alexandre Gilbert in the late 1800's. The breakfast is complimentary with quiche, scones, fresh fruit, breads, wafflemaker with coffee and juice provided. Our room was small but we dont spend much time in the room anyway. Mary was very gracious and other staff members when we asked about sightseeing in Cannon Beach and nearby attractions. We would recommend booking a room on the first floor; however, for those people with any physical restrictions or limitations since there are two flights of stairs and no elevator. There are also stairs leading up to the lobby in order to check in. Overall, we thank the hospitable staff for their accommodations and friendly attitude.

Josephine M.

Yelp
It's a cute place, was a good price. Staff was friendly. Ordered the romance package, but arrived to find nothing. Ordered the souvenir mug and again got nothing (it would "have to be ordered" despite reserving well in advance?). The refund for both mug and package were easy to sort out. Despite being advertised as a bed and breakfast it's just a continental dinner with more steps. All the same items you'd find at any hotel, but with less access. I was neither over nor underwhelmed.

Melissa F.

Yelp
All staff aside from the front desk clerks were extremely pleasant. Like others have said, the woman who works in the kitchen takes pride in her job and try's her best each morning. I wouldn't say the breakfast is anything special though or different than a normal hotel chain breakfast. We had waffles, fruit, and coffee most mornings. The location is amazing! We biked on the path multiple times a day to get some air, probably our favourite part of the trip. We didn't actually use our car once while staying in town. We personally drive an electric car, by choice, and it would have been nice for the staff to allow us to use one (of the many unused) 110 outlets to charge our car at night. Instead we got some exercise biking to Ruby's anytime we wanted to use our car to drive up to cannon beach. The B&B in itself is more like an inn. It has history which is awesome but it didn't have a B&B vibe. We didn't interact with any other guests and breakfast was more like a normal hotel chain breakfast vibe as I stated above. The room. I personally couldn't sleep in the bed. I'm used to a king size bed with my husband and the queen not only was LOUD but really hard. Other than that the room was all we needed. Others have complained about lack of furniture but what all do you really need in a room when you're there to sleep. The fire pit was a really great add on and we really enjoyed no kids being there. Over all we probably wouldn't stay again, manly because we came, saw, and concurred.

Traci B.

Yelp
Four stars for cleanliness, comfortability & location. Was a great reprieve from the weather & crowded streets that particular weekend in Seaside. I was relieved to have a bathroom with a tub in our room #9 & the bed was pretty comfy. We loved the wood work on the walls & ceiling- was just beautiful. Breakfast wasn't anything too amazing but you can tell that there's a sense of pride that goes into it & they're not wasting a bunch of food which is something I appreciate. Gilbert Inn is a place I'm happy to have discovered.

Matt R.

Yelp
The Gilbert Inn is a cute old hotel only about a block from the promenade and about a block from the main strip through seaside very close to Magies on the Prom, which is a nice restaurant, and the Internet café which is a coffee shop next-door. Rooms are fairly big well furnished and there is free coffee and tea. Service at the front desk was helpful and friendly. They have a nice deck outside as well as a fire pit outfront and sunroom downstairs.

Keltex U.

Yelp
It was alright. The house is old which is cool but the cleaning products they use aren't high quality which makes the place smell like a long term care facility. The breakfast wasn't really anything to write about. It was basic hotel breakfast with day old re-heated quiche. It's summer and there is no A/C, only a fan so it doesn't help being upstairs. On top of that our bed was pretty hard and was very creaky. They had a nice DVD collection and the location is nice, it's close to everything. I wouldn't stay again just because it didn't blow me away. I paid for a the romance package but they refunded me because the florist they use was closed and gave us chocolates and cider anyways which was nice but I wouldn't say $40 was worth it anyway.

Karen D.

Yelp
Location was great. Room was small but quaint and perfect for two. Staff was friendly. We didn't try the breakfast part of the 'B and B' but only because there are so many choices in seaside. Overall we enjoyed the stay.

Isaac Y.

Yelp
Nice location and worthwhile stay at Gilbert's Inn The good: The room was in excellent condition. We had a comfortable sleep. The breakfast was decent and we loved the homemade granola and juices. I personally like the quiche a lot. Also I love the fact that they provided Keurig coffee in the snack bar/breakfast room for free!

Grecia L.

Yelp
Will make this my stay again during my next trip to Seaside, Or. If you like to get to know your local history, staying somewhere that is less than a one minute walk to the beach, delicious homemade breakfast, comfy robe, clean and well organized room with friendly staff then the Gilbert Inn is a must. Highly recommended!

Tégan W.

Yelp
This place is a wonder! The attention to detail the staff provide is amazing, the rooms are comfortable, and the history is charming. Plus, you feel pretty special being in the cutest inn in town, and surrounded by modern hotels! If you like charming, historic places to stay, look no further than the Gilbert Inn! It's also a short walk to the beach and downtown Seaside! We'll be telling our friends, family and anyone looking for a neat place to call home for a few days on the Oregon Coast!

Adrian R.

Yelp
Lovely little inn on the Oregon Coast. Within minutes you can walk to the beach or find yourself in the heart of this quaint town. Location is also a quick drive to places like Cannon Beach or Astoria. Inn was well kept and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Cooked breakfast consisted of toast, cereals and quiche. A great way to start the day. Inn is a bit pricey, but I highly recommend a stay if you are going to find yourself in the area for a few days.

Angela A.

Yelp
Very charming little inn. Quiet and relaxed, clean rooms and welcome packet on the dresser with bottled water, crackers, and candy. We stayed here in the winter when it was 30° outside so we didn't mind the lack of AC; though the room had a ceiling fan. They don't serve breakfast but they do have a nice little break room/kitchenette with a microwave, tea, Keurig machine, etc. Also, the location was perfect for us. It's just a block from the beach (less than a 2 minute walk!) and just a block South of Broadway, which is where all the entertainment, shops, and restaurants are.

Anna P.

Yelp
Beautiful Inn. We had room 10, which is located in the uppermost floor. We stayed for only 1 night and everything and everyone was perfect. Warm people to greet us and give us an orientation to the town. Bonus - only 1block to the expansive crazy cool beach. We we're visiting in Feb, when the razor clam season open. I can't say enough good things about this town. Loved loved loved this Inn. The breakfast the next morning was hot, delicious. Will return.

Monica V.

Yelp
If you are looking for a beach retreat this is not the place for you! To start this is a historic home, that should be a B&B but is just an Inn. Yes it clean and quite, rest home quite. They advertise an outdoor fire pit but it was not functioning at the time of our visit. Our main issue was the room. The rooms have the basics, bed, bath, TV. But that's it. No Desk, one very uncomfortable chair and worst thing for a non-ocean facing hotel NO AC! Our room was at least 20 degrees hotter than it was outside. We attempted to cool the room by opening the one tiny window and turning on the fan but it did not help. And with the window open due to the location being next the parking lot for the large condos next door there is an ongoing barrage of car noises. So basically you are hot and unable to sleep. I relayed this to the onsite staff after the first night and the gave us a 2nd fan which did no good. I expressed these issues twice, once at checkout and 2nd on the feedback form and received no consolation. Oh well.

Peter S.

Yelp
A very charming place to stay, and to experience a piece of Victorian history - all in modern comfort! It's location is quite convenient, too, only 5-10min WALK from the beach, mall, and many restaurants and bars. This Inn was built and own by the original mayor Alexandre Gilbert, 100+yrs ago. Price is reasonable, comparable to most eco-hotels. My wife and I tried to book 2 nights there but were only able to get one night at this restored victorial home. As soon as we stepped into the front door and greeted by our lovely young innkeeper, we immediately fell in love with this charming Inn. Our inkeeper (Maria) is a very warm and knowlegeable hostess, who also bakes incredibly tasty cookies! She and her delicious cookies made us feel warm and welcome! Our room (named after Alexandre Gilbert's wife Emma) is small, but adequate and comfortable; functionally furnished with an antique dresser, a comfortable, queen size bed, and a small dresser. Its attached full size bathroom is large with a bath & shower head, and has extra storage space. The towels are plush; shampoo, soap and lotion are of Judith Jackson brand. Even the coffee pack is custom packaged for the Gilbert Inn. That's classy! The parlor or living room of make one feel like being swept back in time, being in Mayor Gilbert's lovely home over 100+yrs ago! Its beautiful, modern patio is great places to relax over coffee, tea and cookies! There are fresh fruits provided in the morning, also. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Gilbert Inn. We wished we could book another night, but there had been no cancellation! NOTES: 1. Although the inn no longer offers breakfast, there are several great places for breakfast and other meals, only a few minutes WALK away. 2. Though the inn has been beautifully restored, it is neverless an old house. So,it is expected that its floors might be a little squeaky/creaky. We did not find it a problem, though. 3. There is a small private parking lot for inn customers, by the side entrance door. 4. The Inn does not have an elevator or ramp for the wheelchair-bound, unfortunately. 5. Check out its website to select your room: http://www.gilbertinn.co... Peterskis, July 2012

Yelp
Overwhelmingly charming! This historic home has been restored to provide the best place in town. You are one block from the beach and many restaurants, activities, convention center and historical sites are walkable. The breakfast is served in a light, bright sun room, try the homemade granola. Rooms have private baths, Cable TV, coffee makers, etc. The yard is beautiful, fire pit is cozy. Great parking with easy access. You are a few minutes drive from Astoria all the way south to Cannon Beach and all the activities in between. Go for the Keurig coffee as the carafe doesn't keep the other coffee hot. There are 11 rooms on 3 floors. You will carry your luggage up. NOT handicapped accessible. The desk staff gave us good recommendations for meals other than breakfast.

Karen R.

Yelp
Loved my stay at the Gilbert Inn, super friendly staff, and amazingly preserved historical hotel. We stayed in the Emma room # 9 , and it was a very romantic quaint room. Clean with large bathroom, cable tv. Free bottled waters and snacks - compliments of our stay. The downstairs living room area is super cute and inviting, free cookies downstairs too. Overall really enjoyed our stay, and definitely plan to stay here again.

Randy B.

Yelp
We're home!!! Closed out 2013 at this nice home. The hospitality seems to get better on every visit, which I didn't think could be done, since they are so wonderful as it is. Our plans are to visit every room at the Inn, becasuse each one is unique. The Inn keeper and the staff deserve 10 stars, but this review will only go up to 5. Looking forward to our next stay.

Steak E.

Yelp
This was such a great place to stay. My boyfriend and I decided to drive out to the Oregon Coast and were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful this house was! It's definitely not a chain hotel, but the experience was so much better. The front garden was so pretty and even had a white picket fence and all. The Inn Keeper, Maria, was very friendly when she greeted us at check in. She gave us a brief tour of the house and even had some cookies out for all the guests. The rooms were extremely clean and well kept, and I just loved the old rustic feel of it. The house still has the original wood that it was built with and is the oldest building in Seaside. It was so different from the normal modernness of hotels, but it was a pleasantly welcomed feel and nice to just get away.

Eric D.

Yelp
Nice quaint vintage hotel close to the beach and downtown not to high priced just have keep noise level down (close quarters rooms)

Dennis R.

Yelp
Love the place. Beautiful old home, well kept with a lot of character. Great location - one short block from the ocean and a full block from the main street where you can find many different places to eat. Breakfast was very good and in a sunny room. Great way to start the morning. Parking was right there next to the building. We will be going back.

Yelp
This place is very warm and cozy. Plus we had great customer service. Prices are very competitive. Don't worry about paying for parking, because they offer that free. Plus it's so close to EVERYTHING Seaside Oregon has to offer INCLUDING THE BEACH!!! My Husband and I enjoyed it so much that We booked our next stay one year in advance.

Yelp
What a Godsend to find this historic B&B steps from the sand amidst so many typical hotels. We stayed in the Kimberly room (#5) and had a perfect view of the beach. The first of three nights was the best as our room was very clean and nice, there were baked cookies, candies, and fresh fruit available and breakfast was delicious and well stocked. The next two were less amazing (there was a different person at the front desk, so not sure if that had anything to do with the change-Ann was the host our first night) as our room/bath were not cleaned very well at all (although the front desk said they were supposed to be and she did go up and personally correct that for us) and breakfast (served 8-10am) was slim-pickings by 9. We had to tell the front desk after waiting for someone to come out from the kitchen, but they sounded to be cleaning up already. They did come out and fill the coffee and some of the items. In the end it worked out okay, but I do hope they improve a bit. They could also offer some beach toys, and fire wood/smores makings. It was surprisingly quiet for the most part. *They make a great fig and molasses granola and french toast casserole.

Yelp
We were only able to spend one night at the Gilbert Inn, but enjoyed our stay immensely. The beds were comfortable, breakfast in the morning was tasty (and appreciated), and the décor was historic and lovely without feeling like you were staying in someone's grandmother's house. We were able to come and go as we please and had ample space to move around in in our room. With 2 blocks to walk to the coast it was the perfect location. Stairs up to the attic room were old and creaky but safe...it IS a house built in 1894, after all. Can't wait to stay there again!

Yelp
I almost want to give only 4 stars because they no longer offer breakfast, but Jeannine's hospitality and the Inn's beauty compels me to give the full 5. Everything about the Gilbert Inn is warm and welcoming. The fact that there is so much original furnishing, and the owner/operator has a close personal relationship with the place, really makes this place the tops. You really feel like you're staying at a relative's beach-side family home. It's a shame that the city let large developments take over the ocean front, but staying at this inn really gives you a feel of a quaint sea side community. The Gilbert Inn is a great place to stay while you enjoy Oregon' coast. Oh, and the cookies were delicious.

Yelp
My husband and I were excited when we first arrived at the Gilbert Inn and had high expectations given the other reviews we had read. It's a cute historic house and the staff was friendly and pleasant. We paid to stay two nights for our anniversary. The second day we came back from a long day and I had a bad headache and just wanted to go to bed. When I pulled down the comforter I was horrified when I saw there was some BLOOD on the clean bed sheets. One reason we booked this place was because it had high cleanliness ratings and I'm a germophobe. When I saw this I immediately began having a panic attack. My husband called to let the owner know that we would be checking out since that was more than I could handle. They were apologetic but didn't give us a refund for the night, which is all I wanted considering we would need to pay for another hotel now. Instead they credited $50 to us for the $200 night stay. Very disappointing considering we left because the room wasn't cleaned properly. On another note I wouldn't recommend this place because the room was extremely noisy because the windows need to be replaced. We could hear everything outside the first night, including loud beeping from a parking garage across the street. We were up most of the night because of the noise but decided to put up with it because it was close to the beach and was a cute little house. However, the drops of blood on the sheets was my tipping point and completely unacceptable.

Yelp
The. Gilbert Inn is a quaint old home that is now an Inn. Historic and interesting lobby. That's about where it ends. We paid extra for a 1st floor room with anti-room / kitchenette. The room has 1 window that overlooks the flat roof 3 feet away, and an exterior door that is locked "for our safety". The kitchenette is 4 walls with an old couch and a TV - no windows. The only way to get the stuffy air out of the rooms is to leave the door open into the lobby so fresh air will flow through. It is quaint though.. The bed is a queen and quite comfortable, with tall corner posts - bairly fits in the room. We left a light on in the kitchenette to avoid a stumble or head crash in the middle of the night. Staff is friendly, although we waited 10 minutes to check in as there is only on person at the desk and she was busy selling someone else on how nice the Inn is and that the caller should book their room now to avoid losing it. Close to the Prom and restaurants. Stay here if you want the old world experience and know what that means compared with modern room design and conveniences.

Yelp
This place is soooo cute and a great beach hotel stay. They have super cute spaces, lots of amenities, fair prices for what you get and a nice breakfast each morning. The staff are great. I'd highly recommend staying here anytime!

Yelp
Truly a wonderful little place with an truly amazing staff. I stumbled across this Jem on Booking.com and I am sure glad I did. From the moment we stepped into the Gilbert inn we knew it was something special. From the kind and knowledgable staff to the quaint and spacious room, we found ourselves having a wonderful weekend away from the kids. One of the most comfortable beds I have ever sleep on, I usually have trouble sleeping when I am away from home and I passed right out. Will definitely be backx

Yelp
Bed, NOT breakfast! I've stayed in many bed and breakfast homes around the country and although this home is beautiful, the breakfast is lacking. Breakfast is served from 8am to 10am, but if you come at after 9:15 am, you won't find much of a breakfast. We were left with cold cereal and yogurt.:0( Bed and Breakfast home's, breakfasts are typically filled with homemade scones, muffins, quiche, and fresh local fruit. You will not find this at the Gilbert Inn. Additionally, the staff is not friendly, the maid doesn't knock, and the mattress is very old and uncomfortable.

Yelp
We had an absolutely wonderful stay. The property is gorgeous and our room was so beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and we had everything we needed. Light breakfast each morning was simple but tasty. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
The Gilbert Inn is a lovely property suffocate situated just a short block from the beach. The rooms are nicely decorated. The walls are paper thin, and the bed springs are really loud in the room above you. However, I would not recommend getting sick while your there. We had a two night reservation. The first night I became extremely sick. There is no night desk clerk after nine PM, so your on your own to find anything for help. In the morning, my wife went down to talk to the front desk, telling him I was really sick and we would need to check out to go home to see our Doctor. Instead of saying he was sorry to hear that we had a bad night, he Gre goes right onto "its our company policy to have at least 72 hours notice before we can accept a cancelation." I was a former AGM for a large hotel and conference center with 150 rooms. At no time would I ever thing of charging a couple for a extra night if one of the parties became sick and needed to leave. Profit is important, but guest welfare is so much more so. On The future I'll look for a property with more interest I the guest rather I the bottom line.

Yelp
Gilbert Inn felt like a home away from home! It was peaceful and cozy. I have a hard time sleeping on beds that are not mine, but I slept great here! The staff was pleasant and personable. The common area's of the home are really beautiful with a historic feel. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Yelp
Charming & affordable little hideaway. Great experience with the room & staff. Excited to visit again!
