We had an amazing experience at this restaurant, which offers traditional French cuisine. Despite not having a reservation, the staff warmly welcomed us and quickly found us a table, setting the tone for the evening with their attentive and gracious service. The wine selection was excellent and paired beautifully with our dishes. For our mains, we ordered the tartare and the pork—both were cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and elegantly presented. We also indulged in a wonderful assortment of local cheeses that highlighted the richness of the region’s culinary traditions. To finish, the desserts were just as delightful, the perfect sweet ending to a memorable meal. Overall, everything—from the atmosphere to the food and service—was impeccable. A restaurant I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone visiting Rouen.

10 out of 10! We stopped by with no reservation on a Sunday evening and the staff was kind and friendly and quickly arranged us a table inside (our preference), close to their closing time. When we ordered the food we were not expecting the quality and taste we had! It was a remarkable dinner. The beef tartare is a must - no doubts. It was fresh and full of flavour, simply incredible. We also had a cheese platter with local cheese (delicious and fresh) and a platter of a local charcuterie that was also spotless. We tried the same dish in other places and you just can not compare. The atmosphere is cozy and vibrant, the service is top quality, staff got us in English with no issues. To close the dinner we had a dessert that I’ll never forget - it was a chocolate delight, one of the best desserts I ever had. Simply incredible. I highly recommend, the location is very central, close to the historic centre and other nice attractions. If you’re in Rouen I would defo include this place in your wish list!

They won't let you have a only cup of coffee or tea. YOU MUST ORDER FOOD. Years of international travel, and this was a first. I arrived about 6:30 p.m. and there was One table occupied by a man and his son. So I wasn't taking up valuable real estate. I'm here for a month and live just a block away and would have returned often if I had been treated respectfully. I mean seriously, who's working for whom? So I left. Thankfully there are lots of other friendly cafes that would love to have my euros. I was strolling for another place and found Cafe Brun where a giant American sized latte is 2.70, the people speak English fluently and best of all, they are very nice. That's what you want when you're on vacation. Not someone who says you're not worth their time.

Scallops are in season so the Chef’s special is good. The rest is so so. This is a bistro not a French restaurant, I am not impressed for the attitude of the lady with acrylic nails.

Loved it! Original plates. The starter of leek and seaweed lead was so tasty! The dessert of mango and passion fruit mousse and sorbet was very fresh to end the dinner! I recommend!

Had a lovely dinner here with my fiancé. We shared the duck terrine. It was meaty and flavoursome with great pickles garnishes and salad leaves. It came with warm fresh bread. I had the plat du jour for main which was a crumbed pork chop. It was fabulously delicious. My fiancé had the steak tartare which was really nice. The courgette side was a nice accompaniment to order. The wine was well priced. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The restaurant is dog friendly.

Yelp
La Place is the brainchild of chef GilleTournadre also owner of Gill, le 37, and Gill côté Bistro. It's a brasserie serving elegantly presented French dishes with a world cuisine twist. They also offer what they call a Bento du jour: like the Japanese lunchbox, they serve an appetizer, entrée, and dessert at the same time on a tray. The food is good without being mind-blowing. Service is fast. A good place for lunch especially for those who have to go back to work pretty quickly after their break. Prices are reasonable.
