Gilmer Apartment Hotel Wellington

Loved my stay at Gilmer Apartments. Our room was perfect! High level of cleanliness, furniture in good condition with no sign of wear and tear, good facilities like washing machine n dryer. Close to town yet very quiet, with plenty of parking options.

The Gilmer Apartments were a great, affordable place to stay in the city. Reception were helpful for check in and if we needed anything. The rooms were on the large size with an equipped kitchen, shower room and a very handy washing machine. Our only issue was finding the place. You need to get the directions for the lift if going by public transport as there are many stairs when following maps.

The manager and the team were friendly and easy to deal. I have stayed here at least half a dozen times in the past year and have always been impressed by the staff, cleanliness and amenities on offer. Stefan and the team are great hosts and always look after any needs you have. The multi levels and room variations tailor to everything that youre looking for. Family? 2 bedroom apartment. Solo or couple? Queen / King bed option. It's the little things they do that set them apart. I mean, where else does the hotel offer fudge and chocolates at the welcome desk? The Gilmer Hotel is my number 1 choice because it's easily accessible off the Motorway and is parallel to one of the best shopping streets in NZ! The Gilmer never disappoints! The room was nice but not fancy. It met needs and wasn't unclean etc. It had kitchen facilities in a sitting room, a separate bedroom, separate bathroom etc. Good at the price. Room service (cleaning, towels etc) was good and staff were pleasant. Outside of the rented room, the whole space felt somewhat surreal and "backrooms"-ish as it felt like a converted office space (which it may well have been?)... not glamourous and slightly bizarre on first experience but I don't take myself so seriously that I wouldn't go back again. For the price, what they offer, and their location it was good!

This is the perfect place for US ex-pats to land if you are planning a move to NZ. It’s comfortable and clean but not froofy fancy. The best part about the hotel is the staff. Everyone is knowledgeable about the local area and culture. They helped me so much with recommendations from restaurants to bus and train routes, to how to run a combo washer/dryer! NZ life is different from the US, in a good way. The people at the Gilmer exemplify the wonderful Kiwi hospitality. The room was comfy, clean, and the bed, linen, and pillows were fantastic. I will recommend this hotel to everyone I know. PS-Stefan needs a raise because he is doing an exemplary job.

The room was clean, comfortable, and well-supplied. I was a solo traveler but it would be great for a couple as well. The bed was super comfortable, the staff was fantastic, and the location was easy to find and within walking distance of most destinations. The electric kettle and coffee supplies were perfect. I would skip paying for the breakfast vouchers.. much better options available nearby. Overall, great stay!

It was perfect, right from the reception which was welcoming and informative. The room was fantastic and the bed so comfy. Kitchen was equipped with everything needed. I stayed for 2 days of quiet concentrated work and I achieved that. Thank you.

We chose to stay here because we were only in Wellington for one night and were going to be out the majority of that night (and until about 2.30am) so didn't want to pay a lot. The room was small but comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom were dated but operational. Our only gripe would be the fan in the bathroom. It seemed to have a mind of it's own and couldn't be turned off manually. Was linked with the lights and ran continuously and noisily for some time after the light was turned off. But other than that, I would stay here again. It's a quiet spot too; we didn't notice any street noise. Parking was available across the road as part of the accommodation or there was a parking building just up the street (within walking distance; very close).
