Gilson South Yarra

Are here recently with a group of four. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. My fave dish was the tuna Niçoise salad. The pasta with oil and garlic was also delicious. Everyone loved the lamb cutlets as well. Def would recommend and would def return. The tapas options are all really tasty as well. You prob need to book ahead. And arrive early to find a parking spot.

Cancer Chicks has been incredibly lucky to receive the ongoing support of the amazing team at Gilson Restaurant. This was our third event held in their beautiful private dining space, and once again, the food and warm hospitality were exceptional. The Gilson team goes above and beyond to create a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where our Cancer Chicks can relax, connect, and feel truly cared for. Cancer Chicks is a charity supporting young women aged 18–35 who are affected by cancer or chronic illness. Thanks to the generosity of businesses like Gilson and their incredible staff, we’re able to create meaningful, uplifting experiences that remind our girls they’re not alone. We’re so grateful to Gilson for helping us make a real difference. 💕

My first time here today getting invited by a friend. I lived in the area for 5 years always walking past and seen the place full everytime. Today I can see why I had the spagetti bolognaise and a few Shiraz. The quality of the dish was one of the best I’ve had and the red wine was of the highest quality absolutely wonderful meal. The staff was very attentive and friendly and a great all round atmosphere. I look forward to taking my partner there soon😍

Laid back but a place for all who want great food and steadfast service. Nestled amongst restaurants on Domain Road. Located conveniently near The Domain and Royal Botanical Gardens and a great reward after you have tackled The Tan

We had a private function today & to say I was impressed would be an understatement. The room had its own character, the food was delicious, I couldn't fault a thing & the service was absolutely amazing. In particular Lola stood out. Everytime I looked at Lola, she was either scanning the room to make sure everyone was ok for drinks or clearing tables. We all had the best experience & we can't wait to go back.

I had my birthday dinner at Gilson South Yarra over a week ago in their private room. From the moment I booked, the communication was super organised — every little detail and selection was confirmed ahead of time, which made everything so easy. The private room itself was stunning, had a balcony which added such a nice touch. The staff were so accommodating and attentive all night, and I loved that you could connect your own music through their Sonos system using the iPad in the room — such a fun and personal detail. The food was amazing with perfect portion sizes, and everything came out beautifully. Overall, the whole experience felt effortless and really special. Couldn’t recommend Gilson enough for a birthday or any kind of celebration. - I can't remember the lovely staff member who came up to me at the end of the night, but she made the whole night very smooth sailing for me!

Nice vibes, food is alright and staff is polite. Next to the botanical gardens, really nice environment.

ORDERED: 🍝 Gnocchi, Sorrentina, tomato, stracciatella, basil ($26.00) 🍝 Spaghettone Cacio e pepe, pecorino, black pepper ($28.00) 🍟 French fries, aioli ($12.00) It was $40.00 for my portion here, which included a lemon lime bitter. REVIEW: 🎶 As some other reviewers have mentioned, Gilson has amazing vibes. There's a buzz to it with a constant stream of people around that really gives a fun casual atmosphere. 👍 The food was ok. The gnocchi sorrentina had a sweetness from the tomato sauce, while the spaghettone had an awesome amount of black pepper. However, over time, the cacio e pepe sauce congealed and had a clumpy texture. French fries came with aioli and tomato sauce but could've been a bit more memorable with more salt. I think the gnocchi also could've used more salt as well. 🧂 Service was great. We walked in at ~6pm and they were able to seat us within 5 minutes. When it was time to order, the waitress was attentive and caught my direct eye contact from metres away. She noted we were going to share dishes and brought out share plates for us. 😍 Overall, Gilson is a great place to catch ups with friends while the food has some potential. 🍻
