Food was delicious! Special mentions: tuna tartare, grilled tiger prawns, t-bone and confit potato squares. The tuna tartare dish is textural heaven with the crispy rye bread. The tuna was very fresh and the different flavours complemented each other well. The waitress recommended ordering bread with the tiger prawns to mop up all the sauce and we were glad we took her advice! We even ordered a second serving of bread! Service was good and staff were attentive enough, nothing out of this world though. They got our duck & pork bolognese order mixed up with a roast duck. Impressed with how they handled it - our pasta was brought out a little later as the kitchen still had to prepare it due to being missed but they offered the roast duck to us on the house. The restaurant is beautiful and chic. However, it was far too hot in there which made the dining experience slightly uncomfortable. Was my second time here and will definitely be returning again.

Love love love Gilt.🩷🌟 The food is delicious, the staff so attentive, the atmosphere is warm and sophisticated, and the whiskey sours are the best I have ever tasted! Oh and don’t get me started on the apple cake! It’s that dessert where every mouthful is OMG!

In a city brimming with good restaurants, Gilt isn’t just good — it’s unforgettable. The space oozes sophisticated glamour, large yet intimate spaces, bustling with good energy set from the minute you are greeted by the most exceptional hospitality team I’ve ever seen. Every dish is a work of art — visually stunning, layered with flavour, and executed with precision. The menu balances innovation with comfort, offering bold, modern seasonal creations alongside timeless classics elevated to perfection. The expansive wine list very impressive, showcasing the best of New Zealand along with international gems, not to forget the fine cocktails crafted by professional mixologists. Also appreciate the quality stemware. What truly sets Gilt apart, is the service. The team somehow manages to be polished, warm, and intuitive all at once. Glasses are topped up before you notice they’re low, recommendations are spot-on and well matched to dishes. A place to celebrate, to indulge, and to savour the magic of dining done absolutely right... Special thank you to Jane, David and Joaquin for their over and above service.

My partner and I visited Gilt last night for an early birthday dinner while we’re here in New Zealand and honestly it was such a beautiful experience ✨🍽️ Auckland really is spoilt for choice when it comes to dining and with only a couple of nights here we decided on Gilt for night two… and wow, we’re so glad we did. The space itself is absolutely gorgeous. You could honestly just sit there admiring the details while waiting for your food. It feels special without trying too hard and has such a beautiful atmosphere 🤍 The staff were wonderful warm, friendly and the perfect amount of banter which we loved. We ordered 🦪 Fresh oysters 🦪 Baked oysters 🐟 Tuna tartare 🍗 Chicken piccata 🐠 Market fish 🧀 Parmesan beignets 🥗 Chop salad Everything was delicious but the stand out for both of us was the market fish. If you’re expecting a simple grilled fish situation think again. It was creamy, unique and absolutely stunning. We finished with the apple tartine and orange granita and they even surprised my partner with a little slice of cake and a candle which was such a sweet touch 🎂✨ All in all it was such a lovely night and we’d absolutely return on our next trip to Auckland. Highly recommend if you’re looking for great food, great service and a beautiful space 🤍✨

We dined at Gilt as a group of four, drawn in by the glowing reviews and high expectations. The ambience and service were excellent, and the baguette to start was great. The brussel sprouts, king crab pasta, and rib on the bone were strong dishes, but the rest fell flat. The “simple green salad” was nothing more than plain butter lettuce with a drizzle of dressing — disappointing for the price point. The beef cheeks looked great when served but were a bit dry and tough, lacking the melt in your mouth texture you’d expect. Dessert was the biggest letdown. The tiramisu was poorly executed, an oversoaked sponge and freeze-dried strawberries in place of the Clevedon strawberries advertised on the menu. At this level, that kind of substitution without notice feels misleading. In short, some mains are worth ordering, but the weak salad, execution of the beef cheeks and subpar dessert put a dent in the whole experience.

The food was exquisite. I enjoyed the oysters, snapper special with cream sauce and mushrooms, apple tart, and the specialty White Russian. The flavors were gourmet in quality. The maitre d' was away from the front desk for an extended period when I arrived, but the wait staff and sommelier were terrific. The latter deserve 5 stars. My main criticism is the noise. When I arrived there was a nice live band that was very loud, and when they retired, the noise did not abate.

I had lunch at Gilt to celebrate my mother’s graduation. The food was divine. High quality ingredients that married so well together. The service was probably the highlight of our meal. The person who I assumed was the manager was so attentive. He heard us talking about how much my mum loves anchovies so he went and got her a small plate of just anchovies! While we had dessert and coffee, he also came out with an extra dessert as a congratulations for my mother’s graduation. We felt cared for and it made our meal all the better. The food was incredible, I especially enjoyed the lamb and the king crab parpadelle which we all agreed was the highlight of the meal. The tiramisu was a massive serving and was probably one of the best tiramisu’s I’ve ever had in Auckland. Such an incredible dining experience! Thank you!

The food was absolutely spectacular, the workers showed such kindness and affection towards all customers. The price was great for the quality of the food, kindness of the people, and the comforting surrounding atmosphere.
