Ginganga Lodge, Galle

My stay at Ginganga Lodge was a little different from most guests, as I was unfortunately very unwell during my entire visit to Galle. However, I couldn’t have been in a better place. Every single member of the Ginganga Lodge team went above and beyond to look after me — I honestly received better care than I would have at home. Beyond that, the lodge itself is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I’ve ever stayed. It’s surrounded by lush greenery and wildlife, with a river running behind the property where they can arrange a wonderful boat tour. The guide was fantastic, and we saw incredible wildlife including monkeys, water monitors, bats, snakes, and kingfishers. The owners have created something truly special here, and their passion and ethos clearly shine through in the entire team. I’ve travelled to many countries and stayed in all kinds of accommodations, but Ginganga Lodge is easily one of the best places I’ve ever been. Thank you to the whole team for everything! 😊

I recently had a day outing with my friends at Ginganga Lodge, and it was a wonderful experience. The place is beautiful, calm, and perfect for relaxing with friends or family. The villa staff were very supportive and friendly, which added to the positive experience. They have a good parking area available, which is convenient. However, our package didn’t include evening tea, we had to purchase it separately. I believe it would be better if evening tea was included in the package. I’m not sure about the other packages they offer. Overall, it’s a peaceful place with great service. I definitely recommend it for a relaxing getaway.

This location was absolutely breathtaking! We never imagined it would be this beautiful and peaceful. Every moment here was truly memorable, and the surroundings were just perfect. Definitely planning to visit again soon. Highly recommended!

We stayed for three nights at Ginganga Lodge, and it did not disappoint. The rooms and dining area are beautifully decorated, and the entire space feels serene and relaxing. Mahir and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable—the breakfasts and dinners were exceptional. The lodge is in a fantastic location for visiting Galle Fort and exploring the surrounding areas. It was truly the highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka. We would definitely visit again!

Absolute peace and elegance The whole estate, the rooms, the reception, the pool. It’s a level of attention to detail you see nowhere in Sri Lanka and combined with the beauty the country itself offers (this is in the middle of the jungle) this hotel is unparalleled in beauty. Service 10/10 the owner even brought me to Fort Galle and back himself for my tour there. Also bought a nice jewelry piece from the cousin of the owner at a really fair price. Maybe a bit of a trivial fact but the body lotion (I never use it at home but thought let’s give it a go) was so amazing with sandalwood and some mystical ingredients that had a special effect on me that I asked to buy some and they made a bottle for me! They help with any request - very open minded.

Some of the plans we had for Galle were shelved because Ginganga was simply too hard to leave. It was the last stay of our holiday and to be able to relax by the pool as well as enjoy some great food and drinks was too tempting. There is a lovely unhurried ambience at the lodge. Our accommodation was perfect - clean, comfortable and the outdoor bathroom/shower was just a joy to use. Plenty of wildlife around, by the river and yet only a few minutes away from everything that Galle has to offer. The food is excellent and prices are very reasonable for dinner and drinks. Breakfast is superb. A real gem. Highly recommended, thankyou.

We stay at Ginganga Lidge for one night. The place is absolutely incredible. From the time when you walk through the door, you are made feel like a valued guest. The rooms are so beautifully decorated with a lot of attention to detail. The food is prepared especially for you and is beautifully presented and tastes incredible. We have stayed at more expensive places in Sri Lanka (Hilton Hotels) but this place by far was our favourite. It is so peaceful and you just do t want to leave. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Galle

So far we had a tendancy to go for the larger hotels and never really considered boutique hotels. We were looking for a one night stay in Galle and this came up with one of the highest ratings on the booking engines! This tempted me to eventually book this place which is nowhere touristy and I am pretty glad I took that decision. From the arrival it was a wOw moment, starting from the scented towel (which you rarely get these days in big hotels now) and the endless artifcats you find everywhere. The room with its small garden was classy and so much attention to details. The flowers on the bed, the setup the colours, the books, so many things we found fascinating. The bed was really comfortable as well. The complimentary breakfast was another suprise starting off with fruits (good quality ones) nicely presented then so unusual .... cup of curd with garnishing then the main meal - eggs and bread, with fruit juice to finish off with a coffee. Had a long chat with Indika Manjula (owner) and Mahir Farook who has been there for over 7 years if I recall correct about the property, the guests and the positive future of Tourism in Sri Lanka!||Some advice to people who are interested in booking Gingaga Lodge. This is a quite place to relax so dont go there if you are looking for a place to have a drink with friends and play loud music or do things to disturb other guests. Go there to be inspired and be creative or unwind at the end of your vacation days or to detox. There are six villas in total so at any given time likely there are less than 15 guests in the propery.||You can get all your meals from the inhouse restaurant and there is a good selection. Hoping to visit their other newer location in Galle as well!
