Gingerbread Hotel Bequia

This place is heaven. The rooms are spacious. The views are beyond compare. From your porch(very comfortable) you can watch the comings and goings of the harbor with beautiful gardens surrounding the building. Wonderful restaurants within easy walking distance. But best of all the owners and staff make you feel like family. I had a bad knee and they brought from their home beach chairs with a foot rest for our use doing our stay. Can’t wait to return!!

This hotel has so many great attributes. Start with location. Port Elizabeth is the heart of Bequia. It is small and quaint. And this hotel is right in the middle of it all. It is a short walking distance to the ferries that take you to the other islands in the Grenadines. No problem for roll-away luggage on the narrow Belmont Walkway along the harbor. The ATM and bank, Knight's Landing grocery store (the largest in Port Elizabeth), Princess Margaret Beach, and most of the best restaurants are within a few minutes' walk along the harbor walkway.||Another attribute. The view. The views from the hotel are outstanding. We booked the Admiralty Suite online directly with the hotel and not only got the best pricing as compared to the usual hotel booking sites, but we were also assured that we booked the specified suite that we wanted. If we were to book again with this hotel, we would definitely book the Admiralty Suite directly with the hotel. It is on the first floor, and we think it had the best views given the placement of the trees on the property.||Another attribute. The service. The service was excellent. Haissam, the head manager, ensured that we had everything that we needed or requested, from citronella coils and bug sprays, to blankets, to fixing our safe box. He was especially helpful in recommending restaurants. Although the Whalebone and Frangipani were good, Jack's Bar and the Plantation were better. But the best by far was Mac's, just steps away. We found their pizza to be so good that we had it nearly every day at one meal or another.||Two final attributes. The massage services and the scuba diving. Massage services are available just above Jacks Bar. The 90-minute service was outstanding.||There are two dive shops just steps away from the hotel. We chose the one closest to the hotel, Dive Bequia. Although more expensive, the shop, boat, and staff were excellent. The other shop, Dive Adventures were just a minute further away. Both had docks nearly in front of the hotel. It was fun getting up in the morning and walking just two minutes to the dock and the shop for a 900 am dive and then going back to the hotel for a snack afterwards before the next 1100 am dive.

I don’t usually write reviews but when it’s needed I can’t help it!… I visited Gingerbread Suites with my two boys and our stay was one of a kind!.. The staff that checked us in (Sharon) was very helpful, informative and her face is like it was built for her bright and welcoming smile. She took us to our room which was very clean and amazingly beautiful and made sure we were comfy and settled with everything we needed. ||Unfortunately our time there was during the hurricane Beryl and it’s the first one my sons ever witnessed, we were SCARED!!!…Which brings me to the next person we met!.. the manager of the hotel (Hayssam) “I hope I spelt his name right”… he put a lot of effort into his guest. His passion and drive to keep us comfortable and safe during the hurricane was unbelievable!!..||He ran around non stop in the pouring rain, knocking on our doors shouting…“are you ok”…I really couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw him climbing on the roof top to fix whatever was broken up there, he offered us food, extra water, charged our phones when the electricity got disconnected, he did whatever it took to make sure we were ok and his reassurance made us feel safe!..||It’s a pity I didn’t get to meet more of the staff as my stay was just for two nights (during the hurricane). I had a brief chat with the security and he was very friendly yet stern!.. I think I’m gonna steal him when I get my dream house on the lovely island of Bequia😁. ||What a lovely memory of Gingerbread Suite!! The location is perfect, just a few minutes walk from the ferry. The view of the harbour is amazing and the way the waves move in and out of shore at nights is very calming, relaxing and can out you to sleep with its peaceful sound.||To the manager and staff of Gingerbread Suite, thank you for accommodating my boys and I. We look forward to another stay at your lovely Suite when there isn’t a hurricane. 😊

Great location, right in the heart of a charming bay. Rooms are very clean and spacious. The terrace is big and with comfortable furniture to sit and relax and enjoy great views. The booking was very smooth and the host is very friendly and responds quickly to accommodate all possible requests.

Fabulous week spent here in a cute room with four poster bed - we were upstairs so had a great view out onto the water. Great location for restaurants and town. Water and motorised taxis were plentiful. Great little kitchen if you fancied doing any meals - we didnt as so many nice places to eat out at. Wonderful, helpful staff. Highly recommended

My husband and I booked this hotel for several nights but only lasted one night. The view was amazing but we checked out as soon as possible because of no hot water, no air conditioning, screens that had holes which caused excessive mosquitos, and discovery of coffee bean size animal dropping on one of the beds. I noticed that most of the good reviews were more than a year ago. This property has so much potential if the owners would invest some upgrades and renovations to this charming location.

We booked rooms 3 months in advance anticipating a wonderful stay. Much to our dismay, a member of our party suffered a stroke and everything had to be cancelled a month prior to the reservation. I wrote several times to note this and the manager's response could be summarized as "tough luck." Kept the deposit. In 30 years of international travel, I have met so many wonderful people. Apparently, the people at Gingerbread might not be.

We spent some time in a self catering apartment here. It was well equipped in the kitchen, unusually, and the room had plenty of cupboeard space, was air conditioned and had a good sized balcony with comfortable chiars to watch the world go by. One was able to walk into town within 5 minutes and thgere were many restaurants , cafes and bars within 5 minutes. princess Elizabeth beach was 20 minutes walk away, but a swim before breakfast in front of Gingerbread was always possible. In short, a splendid location. The staff were all superb, nothing was too much trouble and things got done when they said they would. The cakes from their cafe were delicious and their garden was well maintained. The tennis court behind and equipment was free to use and they had an expert to play with you. The view over the bay/harbour was lovely ad there was always something going on. The noise level was only difficult on Saturday nights when the town had a party and even then , ear plugs, a/c and rum shut it all out. A delight to stay here and a beautiful and unspoilt island to boot.
