Gino’s North was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was great and service was amazing! The food was great, considering I ordered a meatball sub. The pizza was not the best I have ever had, but thats just because it was thin crust. Overall experience was a 5 star no doubt!

Google
So this is a Chicago landmark pizza joint/bar, or so I am told. Been around for 50+ years. Mostly pizza on the menu. Flat. Not sure where they buy there pre-frozen crusts but if you can’t do a homemade version, don’t do pizza. The toppings were fantastic. The crust sucked.

Google
I wish the pizza was better. Also the garlic sauce for 2 dollars was insane. Not that it was expensive but tasted like it came out of a tub. Almost like a lard flavor. I really really wanted to love this pizza and place. But they really just didn’t deliver. Underside was undercooked, top was cooked, but the flavor just wasn’t there. There’s room for improvement guys and I want you to succeed. But you have to change something. A very average pizza even with your signature pie.

Great vibe, great staff, and the thin crust pizza was good. They serve RC, not Coke or Pepsi. We were very surprised that we could not order Chicago deep dish like you can at the other location. I also enjoyed the Caprese salad. The booth bench needs to be redone, as it is taped and the springs are broken so it is incredibly uncomfortable. Thank you!

Google
Gino’s North is a solid neighborhood joint in Edgewater. I ordered the 12" Gino's Special with Italian sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, and onions. The thin crust had a nice crunch, and the toppings were flavorful. The old-school vibe adds to its charm. Spent about $30 with a drink. Service was friendly, though a bit slow. Overall, a good spot for classic Chicago-style pizza.

Google
Touring from Ohio. Was excited to get some pizza. The antipasto appetizer was great and helped with the wait for the pizza. Pizza looked nice (was a hawaiian pizza) but was a bit lacking on the toppings. They do not season the pizza. It is like eating cardboard. It is impressively bad but edible if you add enough salt from the salt shaker. How they made a hawaiian pizza taste like nothing is something I don't want to know, but I was too hungry to care. Domino's pizza is unironically better. Save your money and order out. Wouldn't come back again for a 20$ bad pizza.

Loved this lil spot off Grandville for years. Fun date spot or chillin worth friends. Looking forward to returning to Chicago so I can hang out more often! ☺️

Google
Love this place so much. A Chicago treasure. The food is so good, the service is top notch, and the atmosphere is everything. Jen Parker and Robby Lew are the best bartenders!!!!

Yelp
Was staying near Gino's North on my vacation trip to Chicago and this place is one of the MUST visit spots. After several drinks and much friendly conversation with the bartender and some locals I ordered the Gino's special to go and it was amazing. Perfectly blended spices and the right amount of toppings. Inside the restaurant and bar is a vibe that online pictures don't do justice, this place is beautiful and historic. Worth 6 stars.

Yelp
I don't know how this place is still open. I know it's an icon but This is how much food I got after taking two mouthfuls. Paid $2 extra for sun dried tomatoes and counted 12 pieces. Salad and bread came with. No Caesar Dressing on the menu and this one stumped me, NO PLASTIC SILVERWARE FOR TAKE OUT!!!!

Yelp
I ordered this pizza for my family and it wasn't that great. Not strong enough for your taste. No parking lot either!

Yelp
Bartenders (possibly owners?) were pleasant and efficient. Ambiance is dive bar classy, which is a high compliment, with the bar folks seeming like regulars who love the establishment (several folks told us how awesome the food and people are, which was awesome and as hospitality people that's a wonderful sign). We were recommended to try here from the young guy at the register of Green Element and were, at this point in our day, eating for sport. We ordered the cheese bread with giardiniera, served with homemade marinara. Bread is soft on the inside and has perfect crunch on the outside. Definite home run with fantastic service, ambiance, presentation, and excellent quality bites!

Yelp
Yay!! I love Gino's. They have really solid pizza and I recently tried their pasta and was happily surprised. The fountain behind the bar is a cute touch and the service is typically great! They're a bit expensive considering that it's mostly a bar and doesn't have a ton of restaurant ambiance. Otherwise, a nice staple of edgewater.

Yelp
Just so you know a little bit about my background, I dine out 5-6 nights a week at all sorts of restaurants and manage a Dinner of the Month Club, where we dine at a different restaurant every month, for the past 20 years. I always recommended Gino's North to my friends and fellow diners, but no longer. The Bar/Table Staff on Friday night at Gino's North were extremely rude, mostly JEN. This was always a nice place to go to for a good pizza and a cocktail, but JEN ruined the evening. She took over our check from Robby (who was very nice) during a shift change and we immediately had to deal with whatever personal issues she was dealing with, the way she was interacting with us. The pizza we ordered after our Cheesy Garlic Bread appetizer was a 12 inch sausage with extra sausage. She brought it to the table and and apologized that the cook shifted the pizza while taking it out of the oven causing the toppings to shift. She offered to make a new one or discount it. We nicely chose the discount, but a little while later when I commented that we had asked for extra sausage and there literally wasn't much sausage on the pizza. She pointed at my partners piece of pizza and with attitude said, there it is. That set me off! I said he had a piece with sausage because of the way the toppings had shifted. There was actually no sausage on the majority of the pieces. She again rudely said I will just take the pizza off the bill and literally turned her back on us and walked back behind the bar. I then asked for another martini and was rudely told that they had a three martini limit. I have been to the place many times over the years and they never limited martinis before. She yelled across the room to Robby who was off shift to confirm and he agreed with her without looking at her. I disagreed and she said she would make us another martini. It was totally watered down. I went to the bar and offered apologies for any rudeness perceived in the way I was acting/communicating, but she refused to accept it and continued to disregard me and walked away. I paid the check and left her a 25% tip and again tried to apologize for any perceived rude behavior on my part and again she said she would not accept it. Hopefully you read this honest review and rethink before going to Gino's North. Or at least walk out if you see JEN behind the bar.

Yelp
Worst dinning experience ever. Bartender / waiter was on drugs. Messed up our order multiple times. Brought wrong food to our table and brought our drinks to another table. When we reminded him we ordered something different, he picked the pizza off our table and threw it behind the bar, sliding the pizza off the tray. Yelling "SORRY YOUVE HAD SUCH A BAD EXPERIENCE" after that it wasn't worth even trying to get the right order. Tried closing out and he said "good, never come back here". Never were we rude. We were patient and understanding that it was busy. we just simply reminded him the order was wrong, did not demand a new pizza, did not send it back. And he flipped. Uncomfortable & straight up rude.

Yelp
Wow what happened to this place? I feel like it became a sad shell of itself. Both from the decor side and food side. Last night we came here for dinner and when we walked in, you can hear a pin drop. The jukebox wasn't playing and the tv's were on mute. Quiet for a 7:30p on a Tuesday night. We ordered some side salads which were fine along with their thin Gino's North Special. While we were waiting, I noticed the bar looked rundown in the sense of the backlighting seemed to be missing and the bar didn't look full of bottles. It resembled a grocery store liquor aisle where the store is going out of business. It looked really strange after coming here since 2008. The pizza came and it was not great. Yes we were hungry but the lack of sauce and minimal cheese gave us a bad experience here. The sausage as usual was on point and why was there red onions on the special? Since when did that change happen? Not sure if it's new ownership but this place has gone south the last few visits we've been. It's really too bad as this place was solid at one point.

Yelp
Great thin crust pizza. I'm originally from east coast NYC pizza. I approve and would recommend one large pie for two. One-two toppings make for best taste in my opinion. Enjoy.

Yelp
I ordered a pizza from Gino's NORTH pizza. The was a mix up driver and the pizza was delivered to the wrong address. When I called Gino's to complain I was told we do not have you your money you will have to get it from one of the apps. DO NOT BUSINESS With GINOS NORTH!!! No PIZZA, NO REFUND,

Yelp
If I could leave 1 star I would... I came yesterday with my friends . After telling my waiter I didn't want to order food just a drink... he says to me "you aren't going to beg me at the corner for a dollar are you"? Like WTF! Mind you I'm black.. don't know if this guy is racist but that was unnecessary and rude. I would never recommend this place to anyone... horrible service ( for the two people that found this funny... what's so funny about racism? Just shows how disgusting you are! )

Yelp
Regularly came here and was great! Food was great and service excellent. Went there last few times including tonight and was disaster. Had to order 4 times before we got our drinks and appetizer with no silverware. Ordered another round and seemed bartender forgot. We didn't even bother to order pizza since we knew it was disaster. Got it from JB Alberto's instead. Got check and he charged us for 6 drinks instead of 4. Only go there if you know Jen or Robby are there otherwise do not waste your time.

Yelp
This is my neighborhood and this is my neighborhood pizza place - just lucky I guess. If you are new to the area, or just in the area It's a great spot.

Yelp
New to the neighborhood and felt instantly and continuously welcomed from the staff there! Great drinks and great local hangout!

Yelp
Very solid place for pizza around Edgewater. As a bonus this restaurant is directly outside the Granville red line stop so it's very easy to get to. Inside, this place is cozy and feels like your neighborhood pizza place. The bar is very cool and always usually packed with people. There are only about five booths for seated dinner in here so note that it's not great for large parties. We got the cheesy garlic bread, which was basic but tasty. The margherita pizza had about a 2:1 cheese to bread ratio but was flavorful and came out piping hot. They also have a lot of salad, sandwich, and pasta options. For three of us we spent about 40 dollars, so a very inexpensive place to get food and drinks and a fun local spot!

Tina H.

Yelp
We've been long time customers and have always loved the ambience and service. Lately the pizza has been awful. Three times in a row it has been undercooked even though we made a point (after the first time) of asking that it be crispy. Not sure what's changed but I don't think we'll take a chance on a fourth disappointing meal. Very sad.

Yelp
I use to love this place but they lost my business. I ordered food to be delivered (as we all are these days) and they forgot my sub sandwich. We only ordered 3 things. 2 pizzas and a meatball sub. Pretty simple and I get that sometimes things get missed. My issue is with the way they handled it. I live 2 blocks from the restaurant but it took 15 minutes for them to return with the sandwich. That would have been ok if they had made me a new one. But it was the same one they forgot to deliver. Cold and soggy. I called them to talk about the issue. The person on the phone blew me off and blamed their delivery service. How is redelivering the old sandwich the delivery person's issue? Basic customer service is the minimum requirement and they failed.

Yelp
10/7/21- GINO'S NORTH PIZZA -1111 West Granville Ave., Chicago, Illinois  60660, (773)465-1616   www.ginosnorth.com Went to celebrate with our long time friends & enjoy a good bye visit at Gino's N. till next Spring.  Great drinks from Jennifer & service. Gino's, you can't get rid of us that easily, we will be back next Spring when we return from FL. Dinner:  We shared  the Antipasto - Antipasto Platter - Baby greens with salami, ham, artichoke hearts, provolone cheese, mortadella, and Kalamata olives with a side of Italian dressing and we ordered 2 garlic breads. Then we shared Gino's Special -  Includes Italian sausage, fresh mushrooms, green peppers, and onions & Mrs. Q also adds marinated Red Peppers. Our friends ordered their pizza of choice.  So long till next Spring! Mrs. Q had: Her Jack Daniels Old Fashion up - with dirty ice on the side.  The other half had: Perfect Manhattan up w/dirty ice on the side. Then a glass of Sauvignon Blanc - Dry and crisp with aromas led by cut grass scent followed by green melon, orange and pear. Jasmine and other floral notes add interest. Q-tips say:  Going to Gino's North is like going to "Cheers,"  without Norm at the bar. A great local place to eat, enjoy sports on TV, or just sit and enjoy the people you are with. Mrs. Q says: Go and enjoy, we always do.

Yelp
good ass za would def recommend if you're looking for a thin crust tavern style pizza

Yelp
Ughhh. It used to be so yummy. What happened? We were so disappointed in the taste & quality of the pizza. It was really bad :(

Yelp
Definitely the best pizza in Chicago. You're going to wait a while to get it but the drinks are not that expensive and are poured well, so no problems. By the way, this place has NO relation to the other places with the same name.

Yelp
A buddy and I had stopped in there and it reminded me of a Wisconsin Supper Club. We had to wait a few minutes for a table - no big deal. By the time, we had received our wine, the table was available. The server had went over the menu with us then left us. He had stopped over couple of times to see if we were ready to order. When we were finally ready to order, the server was right there. For an appetizer, we had ordered the Cheese and Garlic Toast for an appetizer. I then ordered the Grilled Chicken Breast Ala Italiano and my friend had ordered the Gino's Style Spaghetti. We don't know exactly what happened, it took several times to receive our appetizer. It finally took about 30 minutes just for the appetizer. The toast was excellent. Couldn't get enough of it - so good. Then within 5 minutes or so, we had received the main entrees. Over all, the food was very good along with the service. The appetizer was comp'd. The server would check in with us from time to time. The decor is from a time in the past. My buddy stated, it reminded him of some Las Vegas restaurants. Overall even with the delay of the appetizer, I would give this restaurant another try.

Yelp
If I could rate this a negative 8 stars I would. This is the worst pizza in Chicago. Also.....the garlic bread taste like nothing. The pizza crust taste like a saltine cracker....no flavor...gross...I'd rather eat at dominoes or little chasers or even have a red baron from the frozen section for 20 bucks cheaper! Disgusting. Also we asked fir our ouzza for no olives and these weenie tots put olives on there and my friend is allergic.

Derek J.

Yelp
This is a review only for the bar part of this establishment. After sitting down at the bar I noticed the bar itself was very sticky and unsanitary. The bartender should've been fired as he was very cold and unfriendly. When I asked what the drink special was that was advertised on the front window he said he didn't know. When I asked him what specials there were tonight, he said he didn't know and that they were always changing. When I asked for a citron and cranberry he poured the weakest drink ever 7/8 cranberry juice and 1/8 vodka. Save your money avoid the bar if you are there just to get pizza.

Yelp
Returned here after several years with a friend that wanted to go. Last time service and oizza were horrible. What a change. The pizza was fantastic. Drinks were good. April the bartender was nicecand friendly. Recommend

Yelp
This pizza and full bar location isn't really part of the large chain you may have heard of. In fact, I'm fairly certain it's been around since before that famous chain existed. This place is a bar that happens to serve pretty decent food, so if you're in the neighborhood, check it out! Here's my story: On a random Thursday night seven of my friends decided on a whim to visit Gino's North for a social outing, and even though the place isn't really built for that sort of sudden group gathering, the sole bartender at Gino's North Pizzeria handled everything like a true professional. I'm not sure what his real name is, but I'll call him "Champ", because staff like that is difficult to find! For some reason, the place was PACKED, and there was standing room only just after we commandeered two booth tables and ordered drinks. We then ordered two thin crust pizzas, (quite a few choices on the menu!), and watched as other non-pizza ordered flowed out of the small kitchen behind the wall all night. It all looked tasty. The comfortable space is a very down-to-earth Chicago bar, complete with plenty of televisions and interesting modern urban art for sale to check out while you and your friends unwind from a long day. I'd go back, though next time if I'm going to bring so many people I'll be sure to call in advance just to be sure they have room. Cheers!

Yelp
My friend and I stopped by on Sunday because I really like the pizza at Gino's North. After seating ourselves, we waited about 10 or 15 mins but we still hadn't been acknowledged and a waiter never came by so we ended up leaving and grabbing pizza at Whole Foods. It was disappointing because I like their pizza but it seemed no one wanted to take our order or even acknowledge us.

Paul K.

Yelp
I'm finally qualified to give a review as I've now tried at least one of their pastas, sandwiches and pizzas. The sandwiches are pretty good and come with your choice of chips or a potato salad, but the potato salad is really small and has onions in it....bleck! (I HATE onions). On a subsequent occasion I opted for the bag of Lays' chips and the ones they gave me were like two months past the expiration date, which annoyed me (...I'm really diligent about checking expiration dates on my foods). Other than that, I've been mostly satisfied with their food. I tried their pasta margarita the other night which was good. When I first opened it I thought the entree was a bit skimpy, but the side salad and garlic bread (both of which are included) were generous portions that filled me up. I've ordered from them on Christmas Day (that was in 2018) because they were about the only place in the area open that day. But as I recall, they were closed on Christmas Day 2019 for some reason, and then again on Christmas 2020, though that was pandemic-related. After a period where they were open only for takeout, they finally just reopened their bar with normal hours, last spring I believe it was. Located two blocks south of Loyola, this place is a little unusual for Edgewater in that the clientele is predominantly middle-aged in an otherwise very youthful neighborhood. It's a cozy place, but smallish and becomes crowded very easily. I've only ordered pickups to-go, I've never dined in due to my mild claustrophobia and especially now with the pandemic. But I live right across the street so I walk by them almost daily. They usually have drink specials advertised. Moderately priced. Parking is extremely scarce in the area, but the restaurant is located less than 60 feet walking/stumbling distance to the Red Line Granville station. Use public transportation for goodness sake. *Note: online ordering is not available through their main website so you have to use Grubhub, etc., If you're getting takeout, online ordering is highly recommended as the wait for food averages 20 minutes, and during the evening seats are virtually nonexistent.

Emilio M.

Yelp
This throwback place is retro-orig and fun. Great place to gather with small group of friends.... between 4-6 besties. Anymore than that might be difficult for dinner. Mostly because the establishment has a wall-lined booth arrangement that sits 4 comfortably. The rest of the small space is a neat bar with stool seating. The bar itself awesome wood barreled units and shelving, but more impressively it's graced with a dramatically lit classic statuette. (see pic) Gino's North Pizzeria is a neighborhood locale with Italian fare and full bar. The pizza selection is really broad with fantastic specialty combos. The thin crust philly cheese steak pizza was excellent and certainly a repeat order. One comment about the service is don't be in a hurry. It seemed that they make one pizza at a time. Our wait seemed excessive for one large pizza thin crust- about 1hr 10min and the pizzeria wasn't that crowded. Overall: ambiance cool; food great; service good

Yelp
I hate rating a local neighborhood place and so low but after my experience tonight the ratings is well deserved. We brought a good friend from London over for drinks and food. The bitter and surly bartender/ server left much to be desired. She was unfriendly, condescending, borderline rude, and generally embarrassing to our out of town guest. Advice for Gino's North: There are many regulars including us who enjoy what Gino's was founded on. Unfortunately, the service received today makes me think twice about returning. There are many competing restaurants in the immediate area who understand how, and the reasons to deliver good customer service. Perhaps, next time we choose to take guests out in the neighborhood we will choose Summer or Revival. We've always had great experiences at both locations! Hopefully Gino's can sort out and correct the issues. Update 8/27/19: Over the past year, Gino's North has made strides to place the right people in the right position. The individual mentioned in my previous review is no longer at Gino's. The entire staff now a days is top notch and I consider myself to be a regular her. If you want great service, great pizza, great drinks, and great friends... come to Gino's North!

Yelp
The best thin crust pizza on the Northside. Intimate setting. Friendly bartenders. Charming regulars. What more could anyone ask for.

Yelp
Great service. Good pizza. Clean restaurant. This place is a snapshot from a different era. An old school pizzeria. Well done, Gino's staff.

Yelp
Worst experience! We ordered a 12" pizza which took 1 1/2 hours to come out. We never received an apology or anything else from the waiter. It was not a busy time either - we were there at 4:30pm. On top of that the pizza wasn't that great - the crust was very dry. It tasted like a saltine cracker. We also had kalamata olives on it which were so salty, we had to take them all off.
google avatar

Tom S.

Yelp
I'm a regular here...I bring people, tip well and have written great reviews in the past. It's still a great place but the new bartender Bess has started to drive me away. And a lot of other people. She's rude, lazy and has no real interaction with the customers. The time she waited on me she was smoking outside for 30 minutes before she came in. Then was at the other side of the bar complaining to her friends about how she hates it there. This bartender is not the right person there. She's causing you to lose your best customers.

Yelp
SIX STARS!!! Gino's is the definition of a fine neighbourhood bar. I'm talking H-O-S-P-I-T-A-L-I-T-Y!!!! Jen is the epitome, perhaps the apex of excellence in customer service. I am Royal when I walk in there. And to you HATERS hating on the wait staff and looking for some snooty wines WE DONT WANT YOU HERE we will eat all of the ZA and MEDITTERANEAN SALAD ourSelves OKAY?!! Shout out to the blessed statue overlooking our good bounty GINOS 4 LIFE if you can't take it GET OUT OF EdGEWATER!!! We love Jen and ALL of the Gino's community and we will RIDE FOR GINOS
google avatar

Jamie L.

Yelp
We sat there for around an hour waiting to order and then waiting to receive a pizza. The bartender came out to us after 45-60 minutes and told us it was coming out soon because pineapple is "so juicy it takes longer to cook" ...... so we waited a little longer and walked out. She came running after us saying "are you gonna pay for your food?" What food? We didn't receive any food for an hour. So she said "alright. We remember faces." We will not be back.
google avatar

Jeff D.

Yelp
Love this little gem of a place in Edgewater. I used to pop in all the time when I lived in the area, and just made another stop in recently...and it was everything I remembered. I love the pizzas, they make great cocktails (if you're looking for a thoughtful wine selection, this isn't the place...but that probably goes without saying), and I've always had exceptional service. Atmosphere is amazing. Very cool old Chicago bar. Not a tourist in sight. Definitely worth the extra few stops on a Red Line to try it!
google avatar

Jacob J.

Yelp
A super tiny lounge with the feel of an Italian supper club. Once you make it past their double doors, you're invited into a warm atmosphere where you'll find nice smiles and often conversation. They say the owner still makes pizzas by hand, kneading the dough. If so, I think she's doing a pretty neat job. My Ma makes pretty fantastic "za" as well, but she's now well into her seventies and finds the activity hard to manage. So, kudos to the owner. Thin crust is pretty good. The sauce is slightly sweet and the pizza had a satisfying taste. Fresh is best, so don't allow the pizza to travel too far.
google avatar

Maria A.

Yelp
Good thing crust pizza. We picked up a 12 inch sausage, mushroom, and green pepper to go for dinner the other day. We were too hungry to take pictures but we will definitely be back again soon.
google avatar

Victor S.

Yelp
This is a very cozy neighborhood pizzeria/bar. I must admit, the pizza is amazing. However, I started with a pretty crappy customer service experience, which ended up being okay. Now, I do realize that I had come into the restaurant above 15 minutes before last call for food. When we got there, the server was incredibly annoyed and rude. She reluctantly placed the order and seemed annoyed every time we ordered a drink. Towards the end of the night, she warmed up a little and finally smiled a bit here and there. Overall, food was great. But, due to the customer service experience I gave this place a 3 star rating, which could've been a 5.

Yelp
Gino's North is the kind of place that I would have never visited without my friend who was born and raised in Chicago recommending it. The exterior is nothing special, a long narrow building next to Campus Police, under the red line tracks. Inside, however, is one of the most beautiful pizza parlours in the city. The tables are all circular booths, comfy and intimate. The bar is a historic gem, with a sculpture of a woman in a fountain as its centerpiece. The woodwork and sculpt of the place is top notch. Gino's North is the kind of place where you want to linger at the bar or booth and take in the ambience. It ranks amongst the classiest old school pizza joints, ever. And that's where Gino's North really excels: in the old school pizza. It is no longer common knowledge that there are 2 varieties of Chicago-style pizza, but it's true. There is deep dish, which Gino's North offers and I haven't tried: then there is Chicago-style thin crust, which is where Gino's North shines. The crust is cornmeal dusted cracker style, super crispy, the crispiest for this style i have yet experienced. The perfect foil for juicy, cheesy toppings. Gino's North uses real pepperoni, the kind that curls in the pizza oven. That and the Gino's Special (sausage, onion, chile, mushroom) should not be missed. Gino's North operates with a lot of care, from the food to the service. Afterwards we went to Lickety Split for a concrete, dessert Jimmy Hoffa-style.
google avatar

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
My opinion may be skewed because I'm an out-of-towner who craved deep dish. Everyone is right about seating and the atmosphere of the place. The bartenders and waiters were sort of friendly and attentive. We ordered a sausage and mushroom deep dish pizza, but what came out was a thin crust pizza with a really high crust? It really wasn't deep dish. I don't want to say anything awful about it because the flavor of the pizza was great! Just....wasn't deep dish (see photo). We want to believe that our understanding of "deep dish" isn't wrong but that the 90 year old granny cooking in the back made a mistake. If that's what their deep dish pizzas are, then I don't think we'll be visiting them again :/

Yelp
Came here strictly for drinks on a Saturday night. -The interior is cozy and it feels like you've entered a different era. -No idea on food, but it did smell good. -Service was a little spotty. I have no idea if my server was John that people kept mentioning or someone else, but he was never rude. Like I said, sometimes spotty so it was difficult to get a drink order in. -We had wine and Manhattans. Let me tell you, this bartender makes a bloody hell of a good Manhattan. And he gives very gracious pours on the wine. This alone is the reason this place gets its 4 stars!!! -Price: Our bill was $40 for 2 glasses of wine, 3 Manhattans, and 2 soft drinks. What a steal!

Yelp
I've been coming to Gino's off and on for the last 6 years. The ambiance is great and the pizzas are amazing. This is definitely a locals place! Often times there is only one bartender for the place, but I'm never in a hurry when I go. I love the south of the border pizza!

Yelp
This is my first yelp review, and my oh my oh MY!!! This place is literally the best kept hidden secret of Chicago. My first experience with deep dish pizza was at Giordanos. I have to say I wasn't really feeling it. My roommate suggest this place because we live around the corner. We should have called ahead, Cuz it took about an hour to get our pizza, NOT a problem. Id rather you take your time than give me some previously frozen mess **coughGiordanoscough**. We ordered a Italian sausage/pepperoni deep dish style pizza and were magically amazed. The sauce is under the cheese (which we all preferred). Oh man the cheese. There had to have been a pound of freeeessshhh amazing cheese on that pie. Trust me when I tell you, this place is a must to add to your list.

Yelp
I'll be honest...we wanted to like this place but the food really isn't good. Staff was friendly. The meatballs and ravioli had to be frozen. We got a margarita pizza also. Really bad. Sorry guys.

Yelp
My FAVorite pizzeria bar in Chicago, Gino's North keeps it simple: great thin crust pizza and Italian basics (pasta, cheesy garlic bread, salads.) Full bar with the cheapest Manhattan on the north side. Kitchen is generally open until midnight, so great stop after a show/movie.

Yelp
Don't BOTHER!! Went to dinner with two friends for the first time. Pizza was below average, go across the street, Petes is much better. Service was very bad. The bartender didn't take the drink order when our third friend arrived and was late taking our food order. First taking the order of a table that came in after we did. When I asked for his attention he was quite rude. Not to mention never refilling our soda nor water glasses. Shame that the experience was subpar. No matter, the foods not worth it anyway.

Yelp
I am highly compelled to update my prior unfavorable review to FIVE STAR. This has been a favorite for my wife and I in the past until a prior female bartender worked there. Now that she is gone and Gino's hired Jen we have our favorite neighborhood spot back! The prior female bartender chased us and other locals away due to her rude, lazy and unprofessional attitude. Now we have Jen who always greets everyone with a smile, works hard when necessary and is ALWAYS professional. They also have the best thin crust pizza around. I takes awhile to get, but knowing that up front, it is not an issue. Always worth the wait. Thank you Gino's for hiring JEN!

Yelp
I actually created an account in Yelp to write this review, so that should give an idea of how revolting my experience was. In fairness, I live on the same street, so gave it a try w/o looking it up, and regretted it. I dont know why people have complimented the pizza here; I ordered cheese pizza with mushrooms and black olives for carryout. The cheese was practically coming out in slices as if someone had slapped it on top of the bread, and the crust was more tacos than pizza. And oh not to mention the horrendous service by the bartender (since its a bar rather than a restaurant). If you do make the mistake of going, then watch your bill; mine charged me $3 extra which I only realized when I came home.
