Ginza Adachi Naoto

"This restaurant values traditional techniques honed at a ryotei. The painstakingly prepared appetisers are a must-try. Seasonal iimushi, mochi rice topped with fish and steamed, is served as an amuse-bouche, paired with seasonal tastes such as sea urchin, salmon roe and chestnut. Instead of rice, the meal closes with konnyaku soba (devil’s-tongue noodles), to relieve uncomfortable fullness after the meal. Meticulous food preparation eloquently conveys the spirit and feeling of the owner-chef." - Michelin Inspector

I was very excited about this restaurant when I booked the reservation. 1 Michelin star and great reviews had me hoping for an excellent meal. Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. The meal started off well with the crab, tofu soup, and sashimi. Sadly I didn’t enjoy much after that. The eel was off, the grilled yellowtail was over cooked, tempura was soggy, and the chicken meatballs were bland. The atmosphere was bizarre, as well. I was the only person in an empty restaurant and there were cleaning products sitting out on the counter. From a service perspective, the chef was very kind and the waitress was very attentive. Maybe it was an off night for them but I will not be coming back again.

Accommodates kids who love seafood. Chef was so kind to put wasabi on the side for the kids. Nice touch!

Came here on Saturday night with my wife for our one year wedding anniversary on our last night in Japan. Maybe it was because it was a rainy Saturday night in the business district but we ended up being the only two people there on the night. It certainly made for a subdued ambience but chef Adachi Naoto and his assistant seemed to put in at least as much dedication as if it was a full restaurant. The waitress was also lovely and while her English wasn't all that much stronger than my very limited Japanese we had no trouble ordering wine and sake to go with a very impressive kaiseki degustation. The genius of each dish seemed to be in its simplicity, with very delicate, subtle and refined options presented lovingly and attentively. I don't know if this was an added bonus thanks to the lack of other diners but we were presented with two courses not listed on the printed menu as well so while each dish was fairly restrained we were only just able to fit dessert in when it arrived. While it certainly wasn't a cheap night out it was definitely a memorable on and a fantastic note to finish our two weeks in Japan on.

Wonderful Michelin one star restaurant. The owner / chef prepares the omakase meal in full view, which was great to watch. The food was of the highest quality. Delightful traditional Japanese cuisine. Get a seat at the bar if you can.

One of the places I visited for a refined Kaiseki dining experience. I tried to book using the Concierge app. Sometimes it works and sometimes you just have to book via the hotel where you are staying. Don't be surprised if you are asked for a pre-payment. It is a guarantee for the owners which I can totally understand. I had a fantastic dinner!
