Ginza Akebono

We stumbled across this place and noticed a pretty decent line outside, so of course we took that as a sign to give it a try. The muscat mochi looked especially tempting, and we also grabbed one with red beans and another with mung beans. Service was efficient, there were multiple attendants tending to customers and they spoke decent English, but you just need to point to the ones you want and tell them how many each. :) There are pre-made and packed boxes for you to grab and pay as a gift as well. The mochi itself was a bit too wet for my taste — yes, it was pillowy soft, but I still want a little chew, a little bounce. This was so soft it crossed over into mushy territory. The muscat filling wasn’t as sweet or flavorful as I expected either. Overall, it was just okay for me. At least the line moved fast!

Came here especially for the strawberry daifuku. The shop display is very inviting, and the daifuku tastes really good. It’s a little pricey, but it’s something I’d happily come back for. They also have cookie gift boxes that make nice presents.

I am not a fan of mochi but Ginza Akebono’s fresh grape mochi is a revelation. Juicy, fragrant fruit wrapped in a cloud of soft, pillowy rice—light, elegant, and nothing like the heavy, sticky mochi I expected. A sweet surprise in every bite!

My fiancée and I stopped by this shop on the way back to our hotel. We had just finished shopping around at Ginza Six and browsing at the flagship Uniqlo store. The mochis instantly caught my fiancée's eye. She is particularly fiendish for mochi (especially daifuku mochi). We bought shine muscat grape daifuku, hachimitsu daifuku (honey jelly and white bean paste) and a dorayaki. I'm not the biggest mochi guy but I'll admit, these were some of the softest, flavourful mochis I've had (particularly the shine muscat grape one). Cute shop and very friendly staff, although it was kinda hard to navigate around the store as it was raining heavily when we entered and there is no door for the entrance. We didn't try any azuki flavoured mochi but from reading the reviews, it sounds like that is one of their most popular flavours. It will have to wait for next time if we are in the area again!

The shine muscat and strawberry daifuku (486yen) and doriyaki are delicious! I stop by this small shop whenever I'm in Ginza. It is suggested to consume the daifuku by the end of the day.

If you happen to love strawberries and daifukus, this is your heavenly spot as they make the best strawberry daifukus in Tokyo. The lines get crazy especially during strawberry season. Overall, it’s a must try if you’d want to try out the best of the best strawberry daifukus!

Delicious daifuku. Very good mochi dough. smell so good, soft smooth and tender Must try, then you will forgot fish market daifuku.

These are absolutely delicious. We were lucky when we went, there was no line. After we got there about 20 people lined up. The mochi (sticky rice) had red bean and strawberry inside. I just like the strawberry (it would be nice if they made them without the red bean as an option You have to line up to order them so get there early Would I eat there again ? Absolutely 100% ! It is delicious 😋
