"When Keiji Mori opened his restaurant Maru in Aoyama more than a decade ago he surprised Tokyo diners with his brand of casual Kyoto cooking. His fans’ only complaint was that it didn’t open for lunch; Mori solved that problem by opening another Maru in Ginza that serves lunch and dinner."

Fabulous grilled fish - simple but so tasty. We reached at 11:30am sharp and was first in line but noticed that a queue started to form during the lunch hour. Only wish that the fish could have been bigger so I could savour it more. 🫶🏻

The best people working there 🥹 I left my camera and when I called back the next day, they were super kind and told me they kept it for me. Also they kindly seated me even though my group hadn’t yet arrived. And we had the lunch set menu (Black Cod & Salmon) which was delicious, and very affordable for the value. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and doesn’t feel busy like the rest of Ginza. A hidden gem of a restaurant, thank you 🙌🏻

Very conducive and affordable restaurant for dining. The food was delicious and value for money (affordable). Definitely would go again if happen to be in Tokyo.

The menu is short and traditional during lunch hour. We saw many people come here for their lunch break. The atmosphere seemed more formal, but the meals were quick and tasty!

The king salmon was grilled to perfection, beautifully fatty and juicy. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Very good restaurant. I had the black cod fish, and the flavor was bold/excellent. Beautiful, very traditional decor. The staff is helpful and friendly. For 2000¥, it’s a real bargain!

Yelp
The dishes were very delicately prepared, the ambiance was lovely, and service impeccable. I came here around 5:30pm without a reservation on a Friday and was able to be seated. However, around 6pm, the place was full and bustling. There are several types of Kaiseki menus, and I went for the one that was around $80 USD. In addition, tea is served and there is a charge of $6 USD for tea and use of silverware. The first dish was probably the one I liked the least. It was some sort of vegetable appetizer. My favorites were the A5 Wagyu, Sashimi, Cod, and Purin (creme caramel dessert). Love, love, love how fine and well made the purin dessert was. A5 Wagyu allows you to season it yourself, so it retains the innate taste of the beef. Sashimi was fresh and melts in your melt. The miso cod was lovely as well.

Yelp
Dishes are well prepared and delicious and service was lovely - very attentive and friendly staff. We made a dinner reservation a few days in advance for the tasting menu including rice and dessert. Maybe it's the style of the meal, but each dish took quite a well to be prepared and so the dinner took about 2-2.5 hours in total. The wait times in-between courses felt a little awkward and I would have preferred shorter wait times, but the dishes itself were so intricate and spectacular.

Yelp
Mediocre food. Poor service. We've heard good things about this restaurant so we decided to have dinner during our honeymoon in Tokyo. We ordered and pointed to the 5+ tasting menu. Instead, they ordered us a 5 (no plus), which does not include rice or dessert. We came here for the rice. We waited and waited for the rice that never came. They never checked up on us, or refilled our water, or asked us if there's anything else we would like. They gave us an apology, and we just wanted out of there because we've been in the restaurant for 2.5 hours. I actually started to get hungry because I waited for so long. Food was mediocre. There are better restaurants around.
