Giorgi's Blue Apartments

We stayed at Giorgi"s Blue Apartments (GBA) for 6 nights. GBA is a small complex of 19 apartments on the coast at Kalathas, north east of Chania. GBA is only 15 mins drive from Chania airport. There is a good sized swimming pool, but for our purposes, even more appealingly a small cove with steps down into the sea for swimming. The apartments are arranged around a small courtyard and all except one has a balcony. They have self catering facilities and bathrooms with showers with loads of hot water.|Staying at GBA is on B&B basis, but you can get simple food from the poolside bar (Greek salad and sandwiches) and food delivery is offered. The breakfast at GBA is a highlight. There is a fresh orange juice machine and a wide choice of other fresh food.|We did not hire a car, but got the local bus into Chania on 3 days and spent 3 days relaxing at GBA. The bus stop is at most a 10 min walk from GBA and takes you right into the heart of Chania. The busses are air-conditioned coaches, so very comfortable and the journey is about 25 mins. We arrived in Chania each time feeling ready to sightsee. Returning to GBA after each day of sightseeing was a delight, it is a haven of peace and tranquility. The busses could have been more frequent but we managed to make it work by eating late lunches in Chania before catching a 6pm bus back to GBA.|The staff at GBA are really helpful. Annelies is a mine of useful information and could not have done more for us.|

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at GBA! Our room was spacious and clean, and we had a lovely view of the sunset from the room! We enjoyed our outside porch at night, being able to watch the stars. The fact that we had a lovely pool/ pool bar and access to the sea onsite was what made our experience extra special! We could pop into the sea so easily, and the little nook that it was in was calm and inviting. Annalise at the reception desk was so friendly and welcoming! She made quite a few recommendations for eateries and things to do around the island. She kindly called and made our booking with a local company where we could rent a boat and drive it to remote beaches on the island.||Breakfasts were plentiful, and we enjoyed eating it poolside.||Thanks to all of the staff at GBA for making our stay so enjoyable!

Stayed for 3 nights at the end of our stay in Crete. Set in a residential area around a 20 minute drive to Chania and 10 mins to the airport. There’s a couple of mini markets in the immediate vicinity but little else so a car is useful. ||Check in wasn’t ideal, despite arriving at 3pm (check in time). When we arrived there was nobody there, after waiting 20 minutes we had to go find someone at the bar, who appeared to be the only one working at that time. Sadly we didn’t get a great deal of local info. We did ask later on in the day for some restaurant recommendations which turned out really nice (which we needed to drive to).||The grounds and setting were lovely, however the room was a little disappointing. We had booked a sea view room but the slim view of it was through a very small window down a passage way between two apartment blocks. With only that and another small window which looked out onto the steps to upstairs (so not very private), meant that the room itself was very dark and always had to have lights on, even on bright sunny days.||There was a kitchen with all the essentials and a coffee machine and the room was comfortable and clean. ||There was no daily room service at all for 3 days, I think they may do it twice a week possibly and you could ask and pay extra for a service.||Breakfast was ok but basic - cereal, yogurt, eggs, bacon, sausage and fresh orange juice. Some fresh fruit to go with the yogurt would have been a welcome addition.||The pool area was lovely with a stunning view over the sea but what makes this place special/ unique is the sun loungers dotted in amongst the rocks leading down to a beautiful inlet, with step access in and out of the sea.||The bar was handy (when there was someone there) and we had a lovely Greek salad one lunch time. There were a few issues with paying for drinks with debit card at the bar (no network service) and in the end settled up with cash at the end of our stay. ||This sounds like a ‘picky’ review and it is I guess as I’m not normally, but it was a slight letdown on where we had come from and was hoping to end on a high. Perhaps the lack of staff/ service was a reflection of the time of year or we were just unlucky. ||Despite all this, it is a beautiful spot and we did have a great stay here.

This is a lovely place to relax and swim in the sea. The owner and staff were all nice and go out of their way to make your stay great. Pool was large and great for swimming laps or cooling off. Pool and facilities were spotless. We came for 3 nights and ended up staying for 13! It was hard to leave this place.

This was our first visit to this most beautiful Island in Greece! We booked our stay, because of other guests reviews. We couldn’t even imagine how beautiful the grounds and the surrounding beach is. It’s a place out of the movies. It was easy to communicate with George and Annelise, even before our arrival. They are the kindest people, as well as every single staff member. They went above and beyond to accommodate us when we decided to extend our stay from 2 nights to 7 nights. At the pool bar, Georgia, Angeliki and Eleferia were our hosts everyday, where we enjoyed many conversations and new friendships!|If you get a chance to say hello to Maria, you will be enchanted to meet her!|We also enjoyed Stavros beach nearby one day. We appreciated all their recommendations for places to eat and visit. We look forward to coming back for so many more visits. Thank you George and Annelise and staff for making our stay so special.

Hard to put into words the feeling you get at this place. Panoramic views of the ocean! Step down ladder into the sea with schools of fish to be seen. Even though the place was full you would never know it. I often had the pool to myself or the ocean. Lots of space, sometimes you feel like you are the only one home. Absolutely one of the best places I have ever stayed in my life! In fact i booked 3 nights here and I keep extending it…day 12 now. Never want to leave this place. I have not slept this well in 30 years. ||Special note…I had an accident one night and the owner Giorgi came to the hospital in the middle of the night. He also picked me up and brought sandwiches, water and chocolate deserts. I felt like I was staying with family. Every single person that worked here was amazing. All working hard to assure your trip is great. Already planning the next trip here. Met many people who come here every year for decades. One said she has been coming back for 35 years. It’s a real find and feel lucky to have found it.

Upon arriving at this incredible destination with my wife and mother-in-law, I was greeted by a scene straight out of a postcard: a charming courtyard with a swimming pool at its heart and a breathtaking view of the sea. ||Annelise, along with the entire team, comprising of Aggeliki, Georgia, Eleftheria, and the dedicated ladies responsible for maintaining the rooms and the kitchen, went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our holiday was meticulously taken care of. Their unwavering support and attention to detail truly made our holiday an experience to remember.||Our cosy apartment, featuring two comfortable bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen, provided ample space and convenience for the three of us. However, the highlight of our living space was undeniably the breathtaking sea view, which added an extra touch of tranquillity and beauty to our home.||Thank you, Georgi's Blue Apartments, and we hope to see you soon.

Perfectly situated apartments, overlooking the Med and finished to a high standard! The staff are friendly and welcoming and have the best recommendations for Cretan tavernas! Easy to get to from the airport - a quick taxi drive. I honestly cannot fault anything - delicious breakfasts, pristine pool, private access to a rocky cove and a well-stocked pool side bar. What a find!
